Chapter Text
The group of three, exited the parking garage to a street littered with abandoned cars, as a light rain covered the city, the dark haired woman walked in front of the group, intently listening to the recorder, they took off of Ben‘s body. “Is that the Intel you needed?” Leon questioned the FBI agent. “Unfortunately, no Ben didn’t come through.” Ada said, her voice was cold and dismissing, not seeming to wanting to entertain the rookies questions.
“well what exactly are you looking for?” Leon inquired, his eyes locked on the woman in front of him. “more info on the people who’s responsible for this mess.” The woman in the trenchcoat answered, dismissing Leon’s questions once again, as they continued walking through the streets, until Ada broke the silence “what about you and your big friend here?” turning slightly to face the odd pair behind her.
“I told Lieutenant Branagh I would get help and X is just joining me for the ride.” Leon responded, nudging X in the chest lightly with his elbow playfully. X let out a huff to agree. “good luck getting that” Ada grimace, turning to face away from the two again. Not much confidence for them in her voice.
Leon paused for a moment staring at the woman walking away from him and X. wondering how she could be like that in this situation? X gently put a hand Leon’s back to nudge him to move. Leon snapped out of his trance and looked up at X. “sorry, I got distracted.” Leon mumbled an apology, before grabbing the sleeve of X’s jacket and started to catch up with Ada.
Light rain sprinkle the streets, making the air damp and humid. Abandoned vehicles covered the streets, but there was no blood. No sign of violence. It was nothing like the grizzlies sites that were in the RPD building.
Leon and X stayed behind Ada, keeping a small distance from her. The three walked in silence before reaching apart of the street where the street sunk in on itself. A large hole in the earth made it impossible to go around. Leon slowed his pace, looking at the road collapsed down on the subway. “What are we going to do…” he ask quietly, a knot of dread creeped into his chest.
“Roads out, going through that gun shop looks like the only way” the dark haired woman answered, quickly turning to the store. Leon watched as Ada turn and went to the doors of the gun stop. X stepped towards the gun store, looking back at Leon to see if he would move.
Leon looked up to meet X’s gaze, before softly grabbing X’s wrist and following him to the door. Ada had finished picking the lock and had stepped in to the shop, not waiting for the two behind her. X got in to the door before stopping, making a hand motion for Leon to go ahead. A smile crept onto the rookies face “You’re going to keep a lookout for monster’s X? make sure no one sneaks up on us?” Leon asked, a bit of a joking tone in the way he said it.
X nodded before nudging Leon further into the store. “ okay, okay. Just keep up big guy.” Leon teased, before taking a look around. Ada was looking at a huge pile of garbage in the front of the store, most likely preoccupied with her thoughts. Leon started looking around the store. It was trashed to say the least. Garbage covered the floor, amo and guns were nowhere insight. Leon walked down the aisle, he found a long barrel and a hand grenade. Why the fuck, is there a hand grenade in gun shop? X and Ada were still in the front. X was keeping a lookout and Ada was mumbling to herself. I guess I’ll find a way out of here. Leon thought.
He took one last look around to see is there was anything else before turning a corner, only to be met with the cold barrel of a gun pressed against his head. “Don’t move.” a man in a yellow and black jacket hissed at Leon. “I’m not gonna hurt yo-“ Leon started to speak, his voice calm and soft. “I SAID NOT TO MOVE!” The man screamed.
“i’m just passing through, i’m going to ask you to lower that weapon.” Leon calmly spoke, glancing at the man holding the gun. “Like hell you are.” The man cursed “you’re gonna turn around and go right back out the way you came in.” The man stated, quickly pointing the head of the gun towards the exit before returning it to face Leon.
A small pale girl stepping out from the door behind the man. she was infected. “I think your daughter needs help, sir.” Leon said, transfixed on the little girl slowly limping towards the man. “don’t tell me how to deal with my daughter.” The man growled, pushing the gun closer to Leon.
Ada turn the corner with her gun drawn and pointed at the man. “Drop it” Ada demanded, the man turned his gun towards her. taking a step back. Leon quickly grab his gun from the holster on his hip. Him and Ada both had their guns pointed at the man. “No! Wait.” The man cried, using his body to cover the girl. “Step side, we need to terminate her before she turns.” Ada said, her voice had no emotion in it. Leon felt his blood go cold. She’s not gonna shoot that little girl is she?
“terminate? that’s my fucking daughter.” The man snapped back. The little girl standing motionless behind her father. Leon lowered his gun and turn to Ada. “Ada, just let them be.” Leon pleaded, the woman in the trenchcoat. “Emma, sweetheart. I told you to stay put.” The man addressed his daughter, slowly backing towards her. “Daddy…?” The girl rasped out, slowly stepping towards her father, her legs shaking with every step.
“Yeah, Emmie? Daddy‘s here. I’m here, okay?”the man whispered, turning towards his daughter and dropping his gun. Leon watched as the man fell to his knees to hug his daughter, the girl just staring off into space. she was gone. “Those fuckin’ things outside…look what they did to us.” The man let out a small sob. “you’re a cop. you’re supposed to know something-How did this happen? huh?” The man asked looking at Leon, his eyes pleading for the truth.
Leon looked over at Ada, she had to know what happened, right? “she was our sweet little angel.” The man said looking at Leon waiting. “Mommy…?” The girl rasped out again, tiny little voice was raspy like she choked down sandpaper. The man turn towards his daughter. “Mommy’s sleeping honey, okay? and I’m gonna put you to bed too, okay?” Man whisper, his voice catching in his throat.
He stared at his daughter before picking her up and carrying her towards the door that she came from. He turned to Leon and Ada one last time. “Just go. just give us some privacy.” He said, his voice sound broken. he sounded broken. He slammed the door shut behind him and his daughter.
Leon heard X being stepping towards them. “You know, it’s one thing to keep the truth from me, but why him?” Leon asked, his words were sour towards the woman. however, before he could say something else, the sound of a gunshot ran through the air. Leon felt his heart drop and his blood go cold. He paused for a second before turning back towards Ada “I wanna find out what’s happening here and stop whoever’s behind it” Leon his eyes locked on the dark haired woman, his hand motioning towards the door, where the father and daughter disappeared into ”helping people like them that’s why I joined the force.” Leon added, he glared at Ada. “my mission is to take down umbrella’s entire operation. We may not make it out.” Ada stated. “whatever it takes to save this city.” Leon said “count me in.”
“I’ll explain come on.” Ada sighed, turning to go through the back door. Leon froze, looking at the door the man and daughter just went through. He felt his eyes begin to burn from tears that wanted to come out. All he could hear was ringing as he just stared, like there was nothing else in the world except that door where that family was, that needed help. Help he couldn’t give.
The world went quiet around him, until he felt X put his hand on his head. He looked at X, a small look of worry in his eyes. Leon felt X slowly pat his head, running his fingers through Leon’s hair, trying to help calm him down. “Thanks X, I’m fine now.” Leon reassured X.
Leon and X followed Ada through the back exit. “heard of the umbrella corporation? Their pharmaceutical company secretly making bioweapons.” Ada started to explain. “Bioweapon? What the hell is that?” Leon asked. Ada turn to glance at Leon. “your big friend is one. They call it a tyrant, they used to dispose of witnesses.” Ada responded, her voice lingering on the last word.
Leon paused, briefly looking at X. “And now they’ve made a virus that turns people into indestructible monsters.” Ada added. “It’s called the G-virus and that’s what I’m here to destroy.” She finished. That’s a lot of information to process. Leon can feel his head spinning, all of this was caused by a pharmaceutical company. And now they have to go and destroy the virus they made. This might be harder then he expected.

Leon, X, and Ada made their way down to the sewer from the streets. X and Leon leading the way through the trash filled sewers. “There’s no way somebody would build a lab down here.” Leon sighed, trudging through the mess. ”don’t you agree with me, X? What type of person would build a lab here?” Leon groaned in frustration.
X looked as miserable as a Tyrant could ever look. He was in front, one hand making sure his hat stayed on and the other running along the wall, which was the only place that looked clean. He let out a louder huff than usual, a really, really frustrated huff.
“It’s here, we just need to find it.” Ada sighed, following close behind the two. The smell in the sewers was much more bearable than the smell of rotting flesh on the surface, but was still extremely unpleasant. The maze of tunnels felt never ending, thousands of tunnels and they had to go through it. The three went quiet for a while, an uncomfortable silence stretched across the group, until a giant crash that shook the ground.
“Jesus…was that an earthquake?” Leon said concerned, nearly tripping into the mess. He was judging through from the violent shake of the earth. “I sure hope so.” Ada responded, actual concern in her voice, while bracing her weight on the wall beside her. X was staring down the tunnel to his right, transfixed on something. “is something wrong X?” Leon asked walking up to X. Leon poked his head around the turn and saw an off section a few meters ahead
there was something behind the bars, but it was too dark to see what it was. Leon assumed it was a pile of trash and slipped past X to start walking down the tunnel. He got a couple steps in when he fell X grab his shoulder. he was about to turn to protest, when the giant mound suddenly moved out of sight. “what the hell..!” Leon stifled a yelp.
“Stay sharp…god, only knows what’s down here” Ada warned, slowly catching up to Leon and X. X immediately put himself in front of the group and started quietly walking towards the bars. He motioned for Ada and Leon to follow after making sure whatever was behind the bars was gone.
The three turned left into a section of the sewers that was made for workers. it was nice, not having to trudge through a mess of sewage for a while. A silent slowly through as they made their way through it. They entered a section of an abandoned subway track. And followed it until they got to another section of sewers.
There was a 12 foot drop into the sewer. It had knee deep sewage with piles of garbage on the sides. Leon was in front of the group followed by Ada and X was in the back. He looked down the hole before jump again.
“ are you sure this is the right way?” Leon yelled back up to Ada. “unfortunately,.” She replied, kneeling, down to look at Leon. But before her or X could follow him down, a sound, came from farther in the sewers. “wait there.” Leon told the two, before shining his flashlight in the direction, where the sound originated from.
Leon scanned the tunnel with his flashlight, seeing nothing of interest, but before he could turn around a giant splash came from the side and the tunnel filled with a huge roar. Leon covered his face to prevent the sewage from getting in his eyes. He opened them to see a huge alligator. It was nearly too big for the tunnel.
“LEON GET OUT OF THERE!” Ada shouted. But Leon was already on it, running full speed in the opposite direction of the mutated beast. Leon ran as fast as his legs could carry him, having to run to different sides of the tunnel to avoid the jaws of the beast.
Leon finally made it to a part of the tunnel where there was a pipe and dove underneath it. The gator quickly grabbed onto the gas line with its jaws viciously shaking, trying to get to Leon. Thankfully, for Leon’s quick thinking he pulled out his gun and shot the gas line.
With a big bang, the head of the gator exploded after Leon shot the gas line. He looked at the still twitching body of the gator as a ladder descended from where Ada was standing. “come on hurry up.” Ada demanded already walking away. Leon barely got to catch his breath before climbing the ladder.
Ada was already down the way. X stayed help Leon get up the ladder. Leon’s like felt weak from sprinting from the beast and he was struggling to catch his breath, still high off of adrenaline. X noticed how out of it. Leon was after that near death experience. The rookie attempted to take a step forward, but nearly fell over from how hard his legs were shaking. “christ..” he cursed, grabbing onto X for support
he felt X, lifted him up and start carrying him at some point. His eyes began to burn again, with tears wanting to come out. The young blonde close his eyes, not wanting to be seen as weak. Although right now he’s being carried because his legs are refusing to work after that lovely experience. They caught up to Ada, who was explaining things to X. Leon finally snapped out of his trance and padded X on the shoulder to let him know to put him down. Leon hopped out of X’s arms and walked into an elevator, followed by X. The ride was silent, and very awkward. The 3 made their way out into a room. Leon leading the way to the only door in the corner of the room.
He opened it to be met with the site of a woman with long pale blonde hair and a lab coat crouched over a zombie muttering something to herself. Leon step closer and raised his gun “identify yourself.” The young man demanded “Annette Berkins.” Ada said following right behind with her gun. “is this who you’re looking for?” Leon asked. “I must destroy it.” Annette mumbled to herself again. “we’re here for the G -virus.” Ada demanded from Annette, completely ignoring Leon.
“that’s not gonna happen.” Annette said, standing up to look at Ada. “I’m warning you doctor.” Ada warned. “oh yeah?” Annette taunted, before tossing a lit match on the zombie setting it ablaze. The blonde woman turned and started running down the tunnel. “STOP” Ada screamed and began chasing Annette.
Annette turned a corner, but before Ada could follow her Annette began shooting at her. Ada lifted her arms to protect her head before a bullet could hit her. Leon jumped in front of her, taking a bullet to his shoulder. “you’ll never get the G-virus!” Annette screamed, as a metal security door began to shut between them.
“oh shit, Leon.” Ada screamed in shock, kneeling down to try to help Leon up. “Go without me get the virus.” Was the last thing Leon said for blacking out. X rushed to Ada and Leon’s side, clearly alarmed that Leon was passed out. i’m going to go after Annette.” Ada stated, while examining Leon’s wound. “I need you to stay here and make sure Leon will be okay.” She told X. “i’m going to bandage his wound and I need you to stay here with him.” She ended.
X let out a huff acknowledging her demands and watched as she bandaged Leon’s shoulder. Ada took off her tan trenchcoat to reveal a short red dress with, with a gun holster on her shoulder. She laid her coat on Leon‘s shoulder before looking at X. “as soon as he wakes up, catch up with me okay?” Ada asked, staring at the tyrant. X quickly nodded, as he got down to pick up Leon. “you two be careful.” Ada said before running off to find a way after Annette.
X stood in the tunnel with Leon and his arms still with Ada‘s coat on him. X look down at Leon asleep in his arms, not knowing what to do. Tyrant weren’t made for this type of stuff. He let out a huff before turning to walk down the tunnel towards the lab, a warm feeling coming from his gut as Leon pushed himself into X’s chest, what a strange feeling for X.
