The young man stared at him, shocked.
"You... don't you remember me?" he asked, finding it simply inconceivable.
And Lance, in other circumstances, would have been amused by that reaction, but there was a little girl he had to bring back to her mother; he hadn't slept for almost twenty-seven hours and needed a break.
"No, dude, now if you want to excuse me..."
The boy turned Lance to him, their faces a short distance away, purple eyes fixed on his, and Lance's treacherous heart skipped a beat.
"Blue Spirit, I'm Red Warrior. Do you really not remember me?"
At that point, Lance began to break out in a cold sweat. Of course, he couldn't remember him. Lance wasn't the real one.
(In which, due to a stupid stunt, the seventeen-year-old Lance dies and finds himself in the body of a villain of his best friend's favourite graphic novel, trying not to attract too much attention. Too bad for Lance, Keith doesn't make things easy for him at all.)

"I'm hallucinating now," Damian muttered to himself, as the boy stared at him, uncertainly, "Mhm, pretty sure I'm not a hallucination."
"That's what a hallucination would say, Richard," he said, knowing he sounded petulant. Whatever the Galra had given him to keep him quiet, it was stronger than many of the drugs he had become accustomed to during his training with the League of Assassins.
It was only for this reason that he risked falling forward. Fortunately for him, he was promptly grabbed by the boy. It was a strong, solid grip, and definitely not a hallucination.
Damian looked up, meeting eyes that reminded him of a dead man, and the other said, "You confused me with another person. My name is not Richard. It's Lance."
(During his imprisonment on an alien ship, after sacrificing himself to save Earth, Damian meets a boy who reminds him terribly of his dead brother. He can't be who he believes, but the resemblance is striking, and Damian just wants to believe that something left by Dick Grayson still exists.)

"Shh. It's dead now. The trap worked." Zenitsu flinched at the sticky warmth on his cheeks, not tears, but Tanjirou's blood.
Somewhere behind Tanjirou, the floorboards creaked. Inosuke leaned against the shattered doorframe, his boar mask askew, revealing one swollen-shut eye and a grin too sharp to be human. "Toldja he'd cry," he snorted, spitting red onto the floor. "Like a damn waterwheel."
Tanjirou shot him a glare, but Zenitsu caught it, the twitch at the corner of his mouth. Amusement. Agreement. Something inside him cracked wider.
Zenitsu's breath hitched wetly. He wanted to shove Tanjirou away, to scream that they didn't get to laugh at him while his knees still shook from the scent of his own piss, but his fingers only tightened in Tanjirou's haori, knuckles white against the bloodstained fabric. The metallic tang filled his nose, thick enough to taste. His throat burned. Of course they'd mock him. He'd sat here sobbing while they fought. While they bled.
(In which a mission leaves Zenitsu with the crippling feeling of being just a burden, and Tanjirou doesn't understand, but wishes he could see him smile again.) -

He didn't know what to answer. He didn't even know who he was talking about. All his focus was elsewhere; he couldn't think, he felt everything too intensely. He was experiencing violent emotions in their intensity, like he had never felt before when sharing a body with Yuugi.
The priest's hands were large, rough—working hands, but they moved with unexpected delicacy, tracing the contours of Yami's collarbone before sliding down his chest. His skin burned where the man touched him, every nerve alight with something deeper than lust—an ache of recognition, of longing buried so deep he hadn’t realized it existed until now. His breath hitched, and he swallowed hard, fighting the heat pooling low in his stomach.
(Yami is in the past, in his body, and with a stranger in his bed. A stranger he knows very well.)

If a few years ago someone had told him he was going to live with a boy—and not just any boy, but his boyfriend—Zenitsu would have laughed in their face and told them no way, I'm straight, dude. If they'd said the boy in question would be Tanjirou, then Zenitsu would have taken them to the hospital, because maybe he could accept the boyfriend thing, but Tanjirou was too good for someone like him, and there was absolutely no way he'd choose him when there were people like Kanao or Aoi dying for him.
Well, look at him now. Zenitsu had won.

Taking HYDRA down isn’t all that easy when you have a former HYDRA-teenager following you around like a duckling. Peter doesn’t particularly seem to care who he gets to follow around, as long as it is someone.
Most of the clothes they gave the boy are a few sizes too big. He keeps tripping over his pant legs. Which both endears Tony and every so often gives him a mini heart attack when Peter yelps and disappears behind a table again.
Somehow attempting to parent this incredibly resourceful, incredibly awkward, incredibly unpredictable, incredibly teenage teenager, is simply becoming part of daily life in the Avenger household.Series
