Summary
Following Keith’s return from the Blade, he and Lance find that their dynamic has shifted for the worse. Their time apart has driven a wedge between them, wherein Keith had brought up his walls yet again, ruining the delicate balance they had achieved before Keith left.
So in a desperate attempt to garner Keith’s attention, Lance goes out of his way to crack jokes, and in doing so, he makes Keith laugh for the first time. From that point onward, he makes it his life's mission to try and hear that laugh more often—wanting to use it to close this newfound divide between them. And in the process, he discovers that the intimidating and seemingly untouchable Keith Kogane is actually ticklish.
All the while, Keith is harboring a secret from the rest of the team. He’s forced to reckon with his heritage as he comes to the horrifying realization that he’s turning Galra, and there’s no way for him to fix it. But it seems kismet has a different plan in mind when Lance finds out, refusing to let him deal with it alone.

Keith grabs Lance’s hand, and leads them to the front of the aquarium, slightly aside from the lines.
“I knew you were upset because you couldn’t go to Cuba for Christmas. I know you miss your family and since I can’t do anything else, I thought that maybe bringing you here would make you a bit happier during this holiday season. Oh. You can open your eyes now.”
When Lance reads the sign, Altea Aquarium Reopening, Keith can see the moment he literally lights up.
