Chapter 1: Fatal shot

Chapter Text

„You need to shoot. Now!“
Jungkook looked through the vision glass of his sniper rifle. The target was running towards his car while his security guards were successfully blocking off all of the other special task force members. If he would manage to drive away there was only an improbable chance of chasing him down and getting enough evidence to lock him away. Like the last times he would just erase all of his steps, destroy the evidence and pay off the judge so nobody would be able to proof his criminal activities. Jungkook could not take the risk. He’d worked to long on bringing that bastard down. For three years he’d been an undercover agent amongst the most brutal and intelligent korean gangs in existence, living inside the organized crime, climbing his way up to work for one of their most infamous leaders – the king of the Daegu gang. It had been a bloody path covered with gang wars and assassination contracts and it would not have been for nothing.
“Seagull, do you copy?!”, the chief commander yelled into Jungkook’s comm.
“Copy, sir”, Jungkook answered. He braced himself, put more pressure on his trigger finger. He wasn't allowed to kill the target. Even though he’d worked as his personal bodyguard and assassin for two years now there was still too much Jungkook didn’t know about the Daegu gang. Too much information which the most successful and sinister leader was keeping to himself. They would never get to know how he smuggled all those drugs into Korea, all that human trafficking out of Korea and all of the illegal businesses blow the korean streets. It was a bloody tough shot to take given the circumstances. Jungkook lay on top of the roof next to the one the king of Daegu had been throwing a dinner party to celebrate with his new business partners. Jungkook's chances of hitting him but not killing him were almost impossible. Jungkook wasn’t even supposed to get active on this mission, he was just there to confirm the identity of his employer.
“Goddamnit, shoot already!”
Jungkook took a deep breath and shot the driver of the vehicle. As suspected the king of Daegu only shoved him aside and got behind the steering wheel himself. This meant all or nothing. Jungkook targeted his shoulder, he activated a pointing laser for a higher accuracy. The target looked at the red dot on his shoulder and followed its direction until he saw Jungkook laying on top of the building pulling the trigger and shooting him. Blood splashed out of his wound covering the inside of the wind shield.
“Target has been shot”, confirmed Jungkook; a few minutes after that the unit reached the car surrounding it and pulling the target out of the inside.
“Target down. I repeat - Target down”, a task force operative said.
“Shit”, Jungkook hissed. For the first time in his life it was not a blessing but a curse that he had never missed a target in his life.
