Work Text:
Hitoshi Shinsou loved exactly one thing:
Cats.
Ever since he was young, even before his quirk manifested, cats seemed to find comfort in him. Felines from the streets would flock him when he walked around his neighborhood, and him being but a child, would automatically pet them.
Every cat he saw, whether it was a stray or a house pet, he would name them. And no two cats ever had the same name. Hitoshi would search far and wide for a new name for the new cat he saw down the street in the window of his neighbor's house.
Hitoshi would always run up to the woman who ran the orphanage, carrying a new kitten every other week. The woman would, of course, tell him to leave the kitten outside with it's family.
But sometimes, he didn't listen.
One day, he took a walk right before a big storm hit. The rain was falling fast and hard, soaking the small 8 year old in ice cold water until he was shivering, teeth clenched. He was lost, took a wrong turn and couldn't find his way back to the group home. With tears in his eyes and sobs drowned out by the rain, the boy eventually gave up and hid in an alleyway until the storm cleared.
And then a small black cat walked up to him. The cat was interesting, a female, and she was just as wet as Hitoshi was. So the kid did what he always did.
He picked up the cold feline and held her close, blocking her from getting anymore rain on her beautiful black pelt. And the best part? She didn't complain. Never scratched or hissed at him, never struggled or whined, never growled or bit. She simply relaxed, allowed young Hitoshi to cuddle her and warm her and shelter her from the cruel storm.
Thanks to this single cat, though, Hitoshi was found. A man dressed in black with a long scarf noticed the hunched over figure of a child and approached. He held out his umbrella over the child, stopping the rain from hitting him and the poor kitty. Hitoshi only spared a glance at him before looking away, afraid that a stranger had just appeared. His grip tightened around the kitty, but only slightly.
"What are you doing in the rain?" The man asked, his voice rough and deep, yet calming. It reminded Hitoshi of a sleep-deprived man.
With a sniffle, the purple haired boy replied, "...I'm lost… I can't find my orphanage..." His voice was small, afraid. He didn't know who this man was, but he felt nothing but kindness from the man. It was as if the man was a hero. A pro-hero.
And a pro-hero he was.
The scruffy looking hero sighed and kneeled down on one knee, taking off his goggles with his free hand. Hitoshi glanced at him once more, studying the man for just a moment before looking back to the purring feline in his arms. "Would you like me to take you back?" The man asked.
It was a simple question. A yes or no question. But still, Hitoshi hesitated. The man frowned at the lack of an answer, the boy having taken too long to answer. "Kid?" He spoke, his voice muffled by the pouring rain. "Do you want me to take you back to the orphanage?"
Hitoshi whimpered slightly, hugging the cat tighter. He didn't want to go back. The kids there were mean, calling him a villain with an evil quirk. Telling him he was stupid to try to become a hero. Stupid for having a dream. It seemed his grip was too tight when the black feline began to whine in protest, snapping the boy out of his depressive thoughts. This got the hero's attention, of course.
"And who is this?" The man asked, his voice suddenly changing to something lighter, something happier.
Hitoshi liked that voice.
"Um…" Hitoshi started, blinking at the cat who stopped meowing. "I haven't named her yet… But she was cold like me. I… I wanted to warm her up."
The man chuckled, a small smile on his clean face. He reached a hand out slowly, careful to ensure the boy wouldn't flinch or jump. When no movement was seen, his rough hand landed on the small cat's head and began scratching.
Hitoshi giggled as the cat began to purr louder, her purrs being heard through the thick rain. "I think she liked you." He said, finally turning his head to fully see the man beside him.
The man was dressed in all black. Black boots, black pants, black sweater. Around his neck was this long, off white scarf that almost looked like bandages or tape. His face was claret of any facial hair, probably recently shaved or maybe he hasn't sprouted any yet. His eyes looked dry and tired, dark circles and bags decorating the dark irises. And his hair was a mess; tangled and unkempt. Rested like a headband on his head was a pair of yellow goggles. They looked like tacky glasses with open lines, but much more fashionable and hero-like. But the look suited him, weirdly enough.
"Who are you?" Hitoshi asked after several seconds of studying him. The cat seemed interested as well, since she picked up her head and opened her bright green eyes.
The man smiled, moving his hand away from the feline. "I'm Eraserhead. Shota Aizawa." He introduced himself politely.
Hitoshi grinned. The hero named Eraserhead wasn't well known, but people still knew him. He remembered going online and seeing people talk about a hero clad in black who had the power to erase quirks. Hitoshi was immediately inspired and looked far and wide for more research about the hero. He saw one video, just a single video, of Eraserhead jumping into the scene and activating his quirk against a villain to save a young girl. He wondered how he didn't notice the hero before. It was so obviously him!
And now, he just met the hero himself. His idol.
With a grin, the purple haired boy was no longer afraid. He leaned forward, violet eyes shining. "I'm Hitoshi Shinsou!" He introduced himself enthusiastically.
The sudden brightness the young boy performed shocked Shota for a moment. The boy was sad just a few moments ago, but like a match thrown in gasoline, he lit up once he found out who Shota was.
He couldn't help but smile at the thought.
"It's very nice to meet you, young man." Shota finished just as thunder cracked over head, lightning lighting up the sky for but a second. The hero looked up, then back down to the kid.
Hitoshi was no longer a few feet away from Shota now. No, he was pressed against him, hugging the cat tight. The thunder and lightning must have spooked him. With a small sigh, Shota looked away and offered, "Let's go to my place. My shift is over so I was heading there anyway. It's too cold for you out here."
Hitoshi looked up and pretty much jumped away. He hadn't realized how close he'd gotten to Shota. The cat let out an annoyed meow to show that she wasn't happy with all the moving. "Y-your house?" Hitoshi asked hesitantly.
On one hand, he wanted to see his idols home and stay the night so he can brag to all the bullies that he met a pro-hero. On the other hand, Shota is still a stranger and he doesn't know if he should go back or not.
Shota nodded, holding the umbrella further out to make sure the boy didn't get hit by the rain again. "Yes. Just until the storm blows over, then I can take you back to your orphanage." He explained, eyes drifting over to the annoyed she-cat in Hitoshi's arms. "You can even bring the cat, if you want. I have cat food at home, and blankets."
Hitoshi hesitated for many moments, pondering the offer and weighing his options. Then another thunder clapped loudly throughout the night and Hitoshi knew he couldn't stay out here. So, with a quick nod, Shota led the boy and his small street cat to his humble abode.
It was when they arrived that Hitoshi decided on a name for the cat.
"Mr. Aizawa, sir?" Hitoshi asked, smiling up to the kind underground hero. The man turned, raising a thick eyebrow to the kid while locking his door.
"Yes?"
Hitoshi moved his content gaze to the cat, placing her gently on the ground and watching her sniff around for a moment. "I know what I want to name the cat." He said, turning back to Shota.
Shots cracked a small smile at that, as he leaned down to pet the feline before she ran off to greet the two house cats already living in the apartment. "Oh? And what will it be, Hitoshi?" He asked warmly.
Hitoshi grinned, throwing his arms up as he exclaimed, "Kiko!" He giggled. "It means hope. I found her, and then you found me. And now I'm safe. She gave me hope." He said, grinning widely at Shota.
It was like an arrow got shot straight through the heart and the blinding light of the sun hit Shota all at once. The orphaned boy was just adorable.
"I think that is a wonderful name, Hitoshi."
And that was how the boy got his first ever pet and met his new father.
Needless to say, of course, Hitoshi all but fell in love with cats after that. Every cat be and Shota came by were almost immediately adopted. Shota's husband and Hitoshi's second father, Hizashi Yamada, laughed loudly every time the pair came back carrying a new cat. Of course, they didn't keep all the cats. Some they released or took to a shelter or vet, but some they kept. They named and groomed and gave a home to a handful of cats, loving them unconditionally.
Then Hitoshi came out to his fathers, knowing they would accept him but still nervous nonetheless. They had a dinner party that night with many different heroes and relatives from both Shota and Hizashi.
He got into the school of his dreams, UA high, through recommendations. He was in the hero class 1-A, the class Eraserhead taught. It was tough at first, seeing as Hitoshi didn't have an offensive quirk like most of his class. Socializing was also hard, the boy too afraid to get close in fear one of the other students would call him a villain or evil or worthless or stupid. He felt alone in a classroom full of heroes-in-training taught by his own father.
And then Izuku greeted himself.
At first, Hitoshi was skeptical, and pushed away from the boy. The boy was strong, his quirk similar to All Might's. There was no way a kid like that would want to be friends with a kid like him. No way.
But Izuku kept pushing. He kept inviting Hitoshi to sit with him and his friends during lunch, kept offering help on his school work, kept trying to get close. Hitoshi didn't want to get close to him. He didn't want to admit that Izuku was slowly breaking his walls down with his constant pestering, didn't want to admit that Izuku was actually really handsome. That his emerald eyes reminded him of the now deceased cat that had led him to his true family.
His thoughts, however, were changed after the sports festival. It was a one on one match between him and this broccoli haired boy. Hitoshi was going to win, he really was, but Izuku somehow managed to find a way out of his mind control and win.
Hitoshi felt horrible after that. He felt like he was no good. But of course he was going to lose. He only had mind control as a quirk, not some awesome strength enhancing quirk like Izuku.
"Shinsou!"
At the call of his name, Hitoshi looked up to see Kaminari, Sero, Uraraka, and Iida standing over the rails of the seats.
"That was amazing!" Kaminari said.
"Yeah! You totally put up a good fight, dude!" Sero added.
"Your quirk is amazing, Shinsou!" Uraraka cheered.
"That was quite admirable!" Iida yelled out, chopping his hands through the air.
Hitoshi felt his lips go tight, and his eyes water. His classmates, students fighting for the top, students who were stronger than him, they all cheered for him. They all said he was amazing.
"Also…" Uraraka started, turning and pointing to a few pro-heroes in the audience.
"That quirk is amazing, it could really come in handy with villain fights. I wish I had it."
"They were right to put him in the hero course."
"I heard he's Eraserhead's son. I didn't expect anything less from his son."
"What a strong kid! I can tell he's going to become a great hero."
Shinsou went silent, the memories of kids from his earlier school life and orphanage saying he would be nothing more than a villain. A criminal.
And yet…
"Izuku."
Izuku cast his gaze from his broken bones to his first opponent, the boy turned away from him.
"I may not have won this time, but next time I will. And then… I'll become a better hero than even you." Hitoshi said, smiling where Izuku couldn't see.
"Yeah."
Izuku froze.
Hitoshi grinned and started to chuckle, his shoulders bouncing with the expression. He looked over his shoulder to Izuku, looking at his blank expression. "Most people are wary when they talk to me, except you." He said, not expecting a reply. "At this rate, someone'll trip you up in no time. At least…" He dropped his quirk, making Izuku jerk back to reality. "Try not to lose in an unseemly way." Hitoshi turned away, still smiling as he began his trek back.
"I won't!" He heard Izuku say, freezing in his tracks when his quirk captured the boy once again.
After that, Hitoshi and Izuku grew close. They began hanging out, sitting together at lunch, going to eat together, talking in class.
Falling for each other.
And each day, Hitoshi went home and he would pet his cats, the ones with green eyes reminding him of how much brighter and happier Izuku's emerald colored eyes are. He would ruffle Izuku's hair and then realize that, despite its unkempt appearance, the boy's hair was so soft, like a cats. The way they purr and cuddle up against him, despite his complaints, much like Izuku who didn't give up trying to befriend the boy.
Izuku was a lot more like a cat than he actually thought.
It was cute.
One day, while the class was getting ready for bed, some chatting in the common room, others already in their own room. Hitoshi and Izuku, along with Kaminari, Ashido, Hagakure, Uraraka, Iida and Yaoyozoru.
Izuku leaned into Hitoshi's side, humming contentedly as he watched all his friends chat excitedly with each other about the end of the school year. Hitoshi raised a hand and began to pet Izuku's head softly, listening to him relax, his breathing getting slow and his energy slowly seeping away. It truly was like Izuku was a cat. A small, green curly furball of a feline.
Hitoshi laughed at the thought of cat Izuku running around with a little red cake shouting about heroes.
"What's so funny, Shinsou?" Izuku asked, moving away and raising an eyebrow towards his friend. The boy's laughter gained the attention of the others in the room, but the two lovesick fools didn't even notice.
"Nothing, nothing. Just… I imagined you as a small green cat with curly fur." He said, amusement written across his face. "With a little cape and everything." He said, chuckling behind a hand.
Izuku was silent for a moment, trying to imagine it as well, before he started to giggle as well. "What even brought that on?" He asked, eyes closed to show his amusement.
The girls in the room silently cooed, Kaminari secretly taking his phone out to record and take valuable pictures of the soon to be couple.
Hitoshi shrugged, smiling softly at the other boy. "Well, you're just so cat like. Have you realized that?" He asked Izuku, raising a lavender eyebrow. Izuku shook his head, smiling as well. "Yeah. C'mon, look, you love it when I pet you." He emphasized his point by reaching over to Izuku and running his fingers though the curly hair. Izuku immediately relaxed at the touch. "You're always cuddling up to me." Ozuku blushed at that, Hitoshi loved it. "Also, you're soft and insanely cute. Just like a little kitten." He finished, giving Izuku's nose a boop.
Izuku laughed, covering his nose with his hands and staring at Hitoshi with shining eyes. "Kitten, huh?" He asked, smiling under his hands. "I kinda like that."
The other immediately felt like they were intruding on something private, and each one slowly left the two to continue chatting alone.
Ashido swore to the heavens that she would make them spill their feelings to each other, though.
The next day, Ahido and Kaminari rushed up to Izuku during class, right before Shota arrived.
"Midoriya!"
"Midori!"
Izuku turned at his name being called, raising an eyebrow at the grinning students. "Oh, hey Ashido, hey Kaminari! What's up?" He asked, turning his full attention on them. The girl started to giggle as Kaminari took his phone from his pocket, grinning like a madman. Izuku was, understandably, very confused.
Kaminari then thrust the phone into Izuku's face, making the poor boy splutter and take a small step back, staring at the picture on the p hi one in shock once his mind processed what it was. "Eh?! Kaminari, when did you take this?!" Izuku exclaimed, swiping the phone and staring at the picture.
It was from the night before, Hitoshi leaning close to Izuku as they both chatted with goofy smiles on their faces and a slight flush to their cheeks. They looked so in love that Izuku got flustered. He looked up at Kaminari through the top of the phone, lips wobbling as he asked again, "Kaminari, when did you take this?"
Kaminari couldn't wipe the grin from his face. "Yesterday. You know, when you two were talking about how cute you are." He said, winking at Izuku who hid behind the phone with closed eyes.
Ashido giggled, putting her hands on Izuku's desk and leaning really close to the blushing boy. "You two should totally date! I can tell you like him." She sang, giggling afterwards. Izuku wheezed, his blush turning brighter and his heart pounding. What is Hitoshi heard? What if they told Hitoshi? What if someone else heard and told Hitoshi? He wouldn't know what to do if his secret crush got out.
"S-shut up… Both of you." He said, looking back at them before thrusting the phone back to Kaminari twice as hard and fast. "And-And delete those pictures, Kaminari!" He then walked around his desk and pushed each student to the next row, both of them cackling.
That's what Hitoshi walked into.
Seeing Izuku push Ashido and Kaminari to their desks wasn't even the weirdest thing he has ever seen in this class, but it was undoubtedly funny. Hitosho stifled his laughter as he moved to sit in his desk, the flustered Izuku stomping to his own desk.
When the boy noticed Hitoshi, he blushed wildly. Hitoshi didn't even think it was possible for someone to go as red as Izuku did at that moment. "Hey Midoriya. Uh, are you okay?" He asked, an eyebrow raised with an amused smile.
Izuku looked away with a small pout, plopping his butt onto his chair with a huff. "I'm… I'm fine. Shut up, Shinsou." He replied, hiding his face in his hands after a moment passed.
'How adorable.' Hitoshi thought, resting his chin on the palm of his hand as his father, Shota, walked into the room and started teaching.
The brainwashing boy didn't even pay attention for half the day. He kept on dozing off, daydreaming about Izuku and his cute face. His soft hair and his pretty eyes. His big heart and laughter of the angels. The way he cuddles up to him and sighs happily. How strong he is and how humble he is. The way he gets so flustered and becomes a blushing mess if you tell him a compliment. The way he understood Hitoshi and helped him through whatever problems he may be having. The way he wanted to be a hero for everyone, no matter the cost.
Hitoshi felt as if Izuku was the perfect being.
Hitoshi then realized he was madly in love with Izuku.
During lunch, Hitoshi stared at Izuku and the way he interacted. The way he ate. What food he chose and what made him cringe. He listened to him laugh and watched him smile. He saw him blush, saw him catch his eye a few times and look away shyly. But that didn't deter the purple haired boy at all. In fact, it made him love Izuku all the more.
A few weeks after the common room scene, Hitoshi started Izuku by his first name. Izuku didn't mind it at all, and called Hitoshi by his first name too.
It made the class wonder if they were already dating, but no one had the guts to actually ask. Despite this though, everyone seemed to be happy for the two lovebirds. They were all able to see how they look at each other, how they look so in love and happy together.
The only unhappy one was Katsuki Bakugo.
"Oi, nerd." Katsuki started as he cornered Izuku to a wall in an empty hallway. The blonde had an angry expression on his face, eyebrows screwed up and lips upturned in what looked like disgust. But there was something else in his eyes, something Ozuku couldn't pin.
"Yes, Kacchan?" Izuku asked, leaning as far away from Katsuku as possible. He wasn't afraid of the boy anymore, no, he just didn't want to be close enough to hurt him if he decided to pull something rude.
Katsuki looked like he was hesitating, thinking over his words carefully before speaking. "You and… Are you dating that purple haired freak?" He asked, quite rudely.
Izuku rolled his eyes as a red blush formed on his cheeks. His eyes cast sideways, looking away. "No, we aren't dating, Kacchan." He said, sighing in disappointment. "And don't call him that, it's rude." Izuku said after a beat, glaring at Katsuki.
Katsuki clicked his tongue, huffing and looking away as well. They both went silent for a moment, heads twirling with thoughts.
"...Why not?"
Izuku looked up with slightly wide eyes at his childhood friend. "Excuse me?"
Katsuki sighed heavily, head hanging for a moment before turning to Izuku. His gaze was angry but it held no actual heat behind it.
"I said, why the fuck not?"
Izuku could only blink. Why was Katsuki asking that? There wasn't a probable answer to that at all! "Uh… I don't know? 'Cause we aren't?" Izuku said, the words sounding more like questions than anything else.
Katsuku rolled his eyes to the heavens, letting out a tired groan. "You damn idiot, I'm saying why haven't you asked him out yet? You're both clearly disgustingly in love with each other. Everyone thinks you're all lovey-dovey together in your dorm rooms. So why the fuck is the answer no?" Katsuki asked harshly.
Izuku pursued his lips, unsure of how to answer that. Why hasn't he asked Hitoshi out? Does Hitoshi even like him? Is his crush really so obvious that everyone thinks they're together? Izuku sighed, looking down. "I… I don't know what he'll say, though. What if he doesn't like me and you're all just wrong? What if he just likes me as a friend? What if he doesn't even like boys?! There's so many bad possibilities and outcomes, I just babe no idea how to handle this at all. I mean, we started calling each other by out first names and stuff, but still-"
The boy felt a sharp slap on his head. Looking up slowly, he saw Katsuki looking fondly down at him for a second before his expression went back to how it was before. "Shit the fuck up, shitnerd. you give me a damn headache." Katsuki stated.
Izuku had the feeling he was lying.
"Look, idiot, all you have to do is go up to him and say, 'hey, I like you, wanna date?' and he'll either say yes or no. So don't be a fuckin' pushy and just do it before I do it for you." Katsuki said, nodding curtly before turning away to walk back to class. Before Izuku could say anything, the blonde stopped and glanced over his shoulder. "You aren't a useless shit anymore, so don't act like it."
Izuku was quiet for the rest of the day.
For the next week, Izuku didn't interact with Hitoshi. The times he did were only at lunch and occasionally the dorms common room, and even then it was a few words. He didn't know it, but Hitoshi was having an internal crisis of his own.
'Why does he keep ignoring me?' Hitoshi thought after waving to Izuku onlyq to have the boy walk away without even looking at him. It made Hitoshi's heart ache. Did he do something? Say something?
Was it Hitoshi himself?
Throughout the week, Hitoshi kept wondering and berating himself over this situation. He knew Izuku would get tired of him. He knew the boy wouldn't like him back. He knew he wouldn't want anything to do with Hitoshi. It was just an illusion. A joke.
Hitoshi went silent after the first 2 days of silence. He didn't interact much, and his smile didn't reach his eyes.
The memories of his group home and grade school, the way his companions would call him evil. A villain. A criminal. How he was unworthy of being a hero. How people were always wary when they spoke to him. How they were afraid of him, afraid of getting close to him. All because of a quirk he didn't even want.
Did Izuku want nothing to do Hitoshi anymore… because of his quirk?
After a whole week passed without Izuku talking to him, Hitoshi felt ready to break. He needed to confide in someone, needed to tell them, ask then for reassurance. He needed to know that Izuku wasn't ignoring him because of his quirk. Because of who he was.
On the seventh day, Denki had asked Hitoshi to go over to his dorm to help him study. One on one, he said. Hitoshi agreed, only because after Izuku, Denki was who he was closest to in the class. He could confide in the boy.
At 5:00 PM sharp that day, Hitoshi took the stairs to Denki's floor and room. He knocked twice, nervous as he clutched his books to his chest. The blonde opened his door and gave a grin to Hitoshi, inviting him in.
"Hey Shinsou! Thanks for coming over, man, I really needed the extra help." Denki exclaimed happily, closing the door and walking over to his desk chair and plopping down.
Hitoshi waved his hand, a small forced smile on his face. "Ah, it's no problem really." He replied to the other boy, sitting down on his bed and taking out a notebook.
They began to work, focused on studying and doing homework. They would go off topic occasionally, talking about hero studie, upcoming tests, the other classes or class gossip in general.
Apparently Kirishima had a crush on Katsuki, but Mina had a crush on Kirishima.
But, of course, it reminded Hitsohi of what he wanted to talk to Denki about in the first place. "Hey, uh, Kaminari?" He started, placing his pencil down tentatively. He had a troubled look on his pale face, his eye shadows darker than usual, hair messier than remembered.
Denki was immediately concerned.
He placed his pen down as well, turning in his chair to look at Hitoshi with a raised brow. "What's up?" He asked, watching the other boy carefully.
Hitoshi bit his lip, thinking over his words. He debated just running away, dropping the conversation entirely and ignoring his problems. But he knew, from the look in Denki's yellow eyes, he was too late. "Okay… so…" Hitoshi hesitated.
Getting slightly impatient, Denki asked, "Is this about Izuku?"
Hitoshi jumped, before nodding slowly. "Ah, yeah. He, um, he's been ignoring me all week. I… I kinda have no idea why. I feel like… What if I hurt him? I don't know if I said something to upset him or did something, or if it's just me in general." He explained, looking down and scratching the back of his neck nervously.
Denki hummed in thought, talking a finger to his chin before grinning. "C'mon dude, you can't tell me you seriously think Izuku hates you." He said, chuckling. "That boy is head over heels for you, the whole class can tell!"
Hitoshi raised a brow at that. "What do you mean?"
Denki facepalmed, groaning as his hair got rustled from the movement. "Dude, it's so obvious! I think he's just having a little moment. Trust me, he'll get over it and go back to normal in no time. Midoriya had a rough past, everyone knows that, so maybe he just needs a week on his own or something." He said with a shrug.
The lavender haired boy looked skeptical, humming. "Maybe…" He said, pouting.
Denki noticed and sighed softly, looking out the window for a few beats before he opened his mouth. "You love him, don't you?" He asked, voice quiet.
Hitoshi allowed a small blush to paint his cheeks, nodding slightly.
"Why don't you tell him?" The electric quirk user offered.
Looking up, Hitoshi shook his head wildly. "Oh, no. No way. He would never say yes." He said stubbornly.
Denki rolled his eyes, stumbling over his exasperated words as he replied, "Oh c'mon- Shinsou, seriously? Like, did-did you even listen to what I said? I literally just told you Midoriya loves you, man!" He threw his hands in the air with an annoyed expression.
The other boy shook his head still. "That doesn't mean crap, Kaminari, and you know that. He would never want to date me. I… I could never tell him how I feel."
It went silent for a moment, neither boy looking at each other.
"You know what?" Denki shot up, grabbing Hitoshi's arm and dragging him off the bed. Pencil and paper fell to the ground in a soft thud as the boy pulled him out of the door and into the hallway.
"Wait- Kaminari, where are you taking me? Let me go, stop it." Hitoshi said, struggling against the boy's grip.
"I'm taking you to Midoriya's room so you both can confess to each other. Everyone's getting so tired of you two pining over each other and doing nothing about it!" Denki exclaimed, already on Izuku's floor.
Hitoshi jerked at that, struggling harder. "Hell no! Kaminari, stop, you better not!" He exclaimed fearfully, continuing to struggle but getting nowhere. Who knew Denki could be this strong?
Denki finally let go of Hitoshi's arm, reaching up a fist and knocking on Izuku's door. He turned to his friend, shooting him a lucky thumbs up before running off as quick as he could. Hitoshi was about to follow before the door flew open.
The boy froze, seeing Izuku at the door with a long shirt and baggy shorts, rubbing his eyes as he yawned. "Who is it?" He asked, blinking rapidly to get his eyes adjusted to the sudden light of the hallway. When his eyes landed on Hitoshi, they widened. "Oh, Hitoshi!"
Hitoshi gulped, rubbing the back of his neck and clearing his throat. "U, sorry, did I wake you? I can, um, leave if you want. Yeah… Yeah, I'll just go-"
"No!" Izuku exclaimed, holding out his hands. He blushed when Hitoshi stopped, raising an eyebrow. "Er, I mean… It's okay. You didn't wake me at all. Um, you wanna come in?" He asked, composing himself.
Hitoshi blushed as well, looking away as he nodded and headed into his friend's room.
Izuku closed the door behind him, flicking on the lights and brightening the All Might filled room. "So… What did you need, Hitoshi?" He asked, yawning at the end but trying to hide it behind a hand.
Hitoshi's lips wobbled as he felt a smile threaten to take over his face. "Ah well…"
He remembered Denki's words, of how Izuku loved him and he should ask him out.
'Come on, Hitoshi, you can do this.'
Izuku was staring at Hitoshi as the boy had an inner pop talk, jumping when he turned his head sharply and blurted out, "I like you, Izu!"
A beat.
"Ah shit- Wait- I'm sorry, oh my gosh, that was embarrassing, I can't believe I just shouted it like that, oh God-"
Izuku started giggling, a blush on his face. "Hitoshi, oh my goodness!" He said between giggles.
Hitoshi looked away, completely red.
With a deep breath, Izuku walked up to Hitoshi and hugged the boy. "I like you too, silly." He said, smiling softly.
Hitoshi bit his lip, wrapping his arms around Izuku's hips, hugging him back. "You… You do?"
Izuku nodded.
He made an 'oh' sound, pondering this sudden news. "Wait but, if you do, then… Then why haven't you talked to me for the past week?" Hitoshi asked, frowning at his… friend?
It was Izuku's turn to blush as he laughed nervously. "Uh, I was thinking about how to ask you out… on a date. It took… It took longer than I want to admit, ahaha." Izuku admitted, smiling at Hitoshi nervously.
Hitoshi let out a breathy laugh, dropping his head on the greenette's shoulder. His hair tickled Izuku's neck as his shoulders started to shake. Sharp huffs and wet droplets hit Izuku's shirt, making the boy concerned, leaving him wondering what was happening.
A sniffle was heard. "I can't believe you…" Hitoshi said, voice shaking. "I can't believe you let-let me go a week thinking… thinking you hated me." He sobbed, his voice sounding both devastated and happy at the same time. "Y-you're the worst… Izuku… You're the worst."
Izuku felt his heart shatter at how sad, relieved, and angry Hitoshi sounded. He stumbled at the limp weight of the other boy as he sobbed into his shirt, sniffling his snot and letting out heartbreaking sobs. "Hitoshi…" Izuku tried, hugging Hitoshi tighter, hoping to comfort him. "I'm sorry, Hitoshi, I'm so sorry. I just wanted to take time away so I can think of the perfect way to ask you out! I-I even got advice from Kacchan. I really wasn't trying to make you feel bad or anything. Please, Hitoshi, believe me. I would never do anything to hurt you, I care about you so, so much! I-"
Hitoshi had enough of Izuku's apologies. Half way through, he looked up to see the look of regret on the boy's face, and he wanted to say it was okay. He didn't blame Izuku at all, he just hated feeling the way he did for the last week. It caught up to him, and the relief piled on top of the already piled up sadness just made him spill. He couldn't take it.
So hearing this boy about to cry apologizing to Hitoshi, made him feel all the worse. Without thinking, Hitoshi cupped Izuku's face, immediately cutting the boy off, and connected their lips. The kiss was soft, slow, filled with love and relief and regret and tears. Izuku's strong arms wormed their way around Hitoshi's waist, pulling him closer. The kiss only lasted seconds, but it had so much emotion that it felt like it lasted hours.
They pulled away, breathing heavily, looking into each other's eyes lovingly. "I forgive you, Kitten." Hitoshi said, smiling at the blush that filled Izuku's cheeks.
And that was the start of their life long relationship.
Time passed fairly quickly, the shenanigans of Class 2-A leaking into their third year. Apparently, Hitoshi's and Izuku's public outing of their relationship stirred a few hearts and gave the right people enough confidence to ask their crushes out.
By the end of their second year at UA, Hitoshi and Izuku inadvertently got two couples together.
Kirishima finally confessed his love for Katsuki, and was surprised to find out that the boy loved him back. Secrets were revealed and kisses were shared as the newfound couple announced their relationship to the class during a common room game. It didn't go as planned, though, when Mina ran out of the room with unshed tears in her eyes. It took another few weeks for both Katsuki and Kirishima to admit they couldn't let Mina be sad like that. Not too long after that, they announced they were trying their luck at a polyamorous relationship. All three of them.
The class immediately supported the three.
While all of that was happening, Tenya and Shoto admitted, at the exact time, their feelings for each other. It was a cute exchange, the both of them blushing like fools before laughing and kissing and cuddling for hours. They kept their relationship secret until the very end of their second year.
In between this blossoming new love, Hitoshi and Izuku had grown closer than ever. Every weekend night, they would spend the night in one or the other's dorm room. Being Aizawa's adopted son, Hitoshi managed to pull a few strings and convinced his father to allow students to sleep in each others dorm room - with the exception they get checked up on periodically throughout the night. As time passed, they would go out on dates. To dinner, to lunch, to the park, to walk the city, to go swimming, anything. They always tried to find time for each other in between the harsh school work and constant villain attacks. It was like they were joined at the hip.
Not only that, but a new nickname was thrown around by the purple haired teen. Whatever chance he got, Hitoshi would call Izuku "kitten". It was grossly adorable, and everyone, both in class and out, have heard him say it at least once.
For instance, one day Izuku walked into his first class late due to oversleeping. His hair was messier than usual, his tie was clearly rushed and he was visibly tired. The whole class knew how much Izuku studies and trains. They know he would rather train outside in the dark of night than get a good night's sleep. They know he strives to make himself better, to make himself stronger. But one thing is for sure:
No one likes to see him unhealthy.
Izuku has slowly become the heart of the whole class. He was the nicest, the friendliest, and the most helpful of the class. Everyone loved him, there was simply no way they couldn't. So whenever he got injured, or when his health started to deplete, everyone jumped up to try and make him get better. Everyone would grow so concerned, so worried. Even Katsuki. So seeing Izuku walk into his class so dishevelled and exhausted, everyone wanted to sit him down and pull him into his much needed and much deserved rest.
Hitoshi, though, beat them to it.
Standing from his desk, the boy unashamedly walked up to Izuku in front of the whole classroom and grabbed his shoulders softly. Izuku looked at his lover with tired, confused eyes.
"How much sleep did you get last night?" Hitoshi asked, narrowing his eyes as he shifted his hands lower to fix the other boys tie.
Izuku just huffed, clutching his books tighter as he tried to ignore the 19 pairs of student and teacher eyes on them. "You're one to talk, you insomniac." He retorted, pouting but not bothering to push Hitoshi away.
A chuckle. "True, but at least that's an actual illness." Hitoshi replied, now moving his hands to run through Izuku's curly hair, trying to tame it a little better. "Your only excuse is overworking yourself. You do know that's unhealthy, right?"
Izuku didn't reply to that.
"That's what I thought." Hitoshi said, smiling fondly at his smaller boyfriend. He took the books from Izuku's hands, holding them himself and raising a brow at Izuku. "Are you too tired to focus on the test today?" He asked seriously.
Izuku stubbornly nodded, pointedly avoiding the others eyes.
"Are you too tired to focus?" Hitoshi asked again, preening his head to try and catch Izuku's gaze.
With a heavy sigh and saggy shoulder, Izuku shook his head yes. He looked ashamed of himself.
Shots sighed as well, shaking his head in mild disappointment and heavy concern. "Midoriya, you shouldn't be in class if you're this tired." He said, breaking the boys out of their personal bubble.
Izuku pointed to his teacher. "...I'm sorry, sensei, but-"
Cutting him off, Hitoshi put in his two cents. "My dad's right. If you're too tired, you should really be in bed." He said, smirking to his boyfriend.
The greenette frowned with a soft glare. It was a stretch off between the couple for a few moments before Izuku started to laugh softly, cutting himself off with a cute yawn. "Ugh…" He caved in. "Fine. I'll go back. I, uh, I'm sorry, Aizawa-sensei." He said, bowing slightly.
Shota shook his head, waving his hand. "It's okay, Midoriya. Your health is much more important anyway." He said, his usually rugged voice surprisingly soft. "But it would be nice to see you come in for a test completely prepared. Mentally and physically."
Izuku sheepishly laughed, scratching the back of his head guiltily. "Right… I'll just go back to the dorm then. Um, I'll take the test tomorrow. Thank you, Aizawa. Sorry… again."
Hitoshi grinned, raising a hand and patting Izuku's soft head. The boy immediately leaned into the touch, practically purring at the soft fingers grazing his skull. "Go back to the dorms, kitten. See you when you wake up." He said, the fondness in his voice was so thick that the whole class was able to detect it.
Izuku smiled at his boyfriend, stars in his eyes, before he walked away with dragging feet towards the Heights Alliance.
Needless to say, the whole class melted at the blatant show of affection.
From then on, everyone slowly got used to the nickname "kitten" being exclusive for Izuku only, the same way "kacchan" was exclusively for Katsuki. Hitoshi would casually call Izuku kitten out of the blue, or in between conversations, or while talking about him to other students or his small family.
Scenes such as when Hitoshi visited his dads in their own Height's Alliance room.
He walked in without warning, seeing Hizashi singing loudly as Shota and his little sister, Eri, danced in the kitchen. No one glanced his way, too caught up in the moment to really notice his happy smile. He stayed at the entrance, watching his family have their fun, content to just watch from afar. It wasn't as long as the boy would've thought before Eri noticed him and pulled away from Dhota to jump into his arms. Hitoshi laughed brightly, spinning the small girl around as she giggled with the widest grin on her face.
"Hi, 'Toshi!" Eri greeted, hugging the boy's neck.
Hitoshi hugged her back just as tightly. "Hey, little bug!" He replied, smiling just as brightly.
Hizashi and Shota walked up to their children. The blonde pulled Eri away and Shota and led Hitoshi to the dining table with a hand on his back. There was food already ready on the table, sitting there and ready to eat. Hitoshi couldn't wipe the smile off his face as he sat down, thanking his parents for the food as small talk arose.
Talking about each other's day was always interesting. Hizashi usually had interesting and exaggerated stories to tell. Stories of how he witnessed PDA in the hallways and could never look his students in the eyes again. Or how he did a jerk training exercise and two students got into an actual fight. Or how at lunch, the other teachers talking about juicy gossip he swore to never tell, only to tell them not five seconds later.
While Shota, on the other hand, told mediocre and boring stories. He kept them short and simple, the stories themselves mundane and easy to make fun.
And then Eri told stories of wonder. How she met a new friend at school and it felt like they would be together until the very end. Or when she played basketball with the boys and beat them all. She would tell them how she was the top of her class, and how nice all the other students were.
When Hitoshi told his stories, he talked about Izuku a lot. He talked about their dates, about the bird they healed together after finding it on the floor beneath a tree with a broken wing. He would tell them about his friends, and their dumb pranks and silly shenanigans. He would tell them about a new book or show he found interesting, going on about what he loved about it and why.
Dinner with his family was never dull, and they all loved it as it was.
After dinner, they would all cuddle up on the couch in the family room and put in some comedy or action movie, pop some popcorn, and bring their cats into the room. Hitoshi always reached for the cat with green eyes, finding its soft fur and bright eyes reminding him of the boy that held his heart.
By the end of the movie, everyone was fast asleep except for the two insomniacs of the family.
Shota looked down at his son, cuddling a snow white cat with heterochromia eyes. "...You really like Midoeiya, don't you?" He asked.
Hitoshi perked up slightly at the question, turning to gaze at his father quizzically. "Of course I do. He's…" He looked away, a smile overtaking his lips. "He's kind of the love of my life. He makes me really happy. Gives me a lot of motivation to make myself better. Kitten is just… he really is just amazing." He said, chuckling.
Shota hummed thoughtfully, nodding his head. He couldn't help but compare his own relationship to his sons. He never expected to be so utterly in love with someone like Hizashi, and he never expected for Hitoshi to be so utterly in love with someone like Izuku.
Then again, everyone does say you find love in odd places.
"You know, he reminds of a cat." Hitoshi said after many beats of silence, his hand stroking the tortoiseshell with green eyes in his arms. "He does almost everything like a cat would do. Good reflexes, soft hair, bright green eyes. Hell, I'm trying to see if he'll let out a purr." He said, chuckling softly.
Shota smiled at that, relaxing and slowly getting pulled to sleep by the warmth of his family. "I see. That's why you call him kitten, then."
The brainwashing boy snorted, shaking his head. "I can't believe it took you that long to realize." He said, yawning at the end of it. "Everyone else seemed to get the fist before you, dad."
Shota rolled his dark eyes at his son before closing them and letting out a small sigh. "I guess they're smarter than me, then." His voice was tired and soft.
Hitoshi also closed his eyes, shoulders relaxing as he began to drift off. "I guess we are."
The family then slept together that night, simply happy to be there.
Another scene is when Hitoshi is sitting with all his friends during lunch. They all start talking, Izuku beside him analyzing notes and mumbling up a storm.
The table began to quiet down as they took notice of the boy's mumbling, all eyes drifting to him with a fond look in them. The class and Izuku's friends became accustomed to his mumbling, in fact, they began to love it. No one could really imagine what it would be like without Izuku around. His happy smile and constant mumbling, him fanning over All Might and helping everyone around him.
Izuku jerked out of his own thoughts when he noticed multiple pairs of eyes on him. He blushed red, sitting up straight and spluttering out apologies while his friends just giggled and chuckled.
Hitoshi rolled his lavender eyes, wrapping an arm around the boy's shoulders. "Don't apologize, Kitten." He said, "We love your mumbling." And it was true.
Izuku pouted, looking away. "I've been trying to break this habit for years and all you guys do is stare at me? At least stop me." He said, choosing to ignore Hitoshi's words.
Ochako perked up. "But Shinsou is right, Deku! It would be too quiet without your mumbling." She said, grinning widely with pink cheeks.
Looking to the rest of the table, Izuku could see Shoto and Tenya nodding in agreement, Tsuyu shrugging, Kirishima and Mina chuckling but not denying it, and Katsuki huffing he didn't care for the conversation. Izuku couldn't help but blush at all the agreements, looking down at the tables surface and trying not to smile.
Hitoshi grinned and waved a hand at the table, telling them to just continue talking, and they did. They all went back to their own conversations, the table becoming lively and light hearted once again. It was never a dull day for any of them now. They were all so happy, so close, so much like a family now.
Leaning close, Hitoshi and Izuku started a conversation of their own.
"What were you even mumbling about?" The brainwashed asked.
Looking up at him with green eyes, Izuku replied softly, "I'm doing analysis on the newest hero we saw. The one that can change her hands into swords and stuff." Izuku said, his voice rising a bit, excited to share his work with his lover.
Hitoshi raised his eyebrows, looking away to try and recall this hero. "Oh!" He exclaimed, snapping his fingers. "The one who sliced that gash into the purse snatchers back?" He asked.
Izuku nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah! She's super cool. Look," He pulled out the page he was writing on. "I put down her costume and what I think her quirk is. It's pretty cool if you think about it. It can change into almost any weapon from what I've seen, read, and heard in articles and interviews alike. So far, I've been able to see this big sword, which has to be around 6 feet in height, and it's curved and super sharp, a little cute dagger, possibly for smaller villains, a katana, and some shurikens. All kinds of different blades! All of her swords and knives have this glowing green color to it too. They look kind of magical, but then again quirks are technically magical as well, so that's not super surprising. But it does make the blades look really-"
"Kitten."
Izuku stopped his rambling, jerking and looking up. He was doing it again. Looking around the table, he saw his friends glance at him in amusement but continue with their own business. With a blush, Izuku looked at Hitoshi and gave him a shy smile.
Hitoshi just chuckled, leaning down and giving the other boy a small kiss. "You're so cute."
The hero was forgotten after that.
More time passed, more villains attacked, more training ensued, and eventually, all 20 students of the hero course have made it to graduation.
It was a bittersweet graduation, really. Everyone was happy they got to leave school and become pro-heroes, but over the last three years, they all grew undeniably close. Through all the villain fights and the ups and down, the ambushes and internships; everyone in the class had a special place in their heart for each other. And to know they will all be leaving, going off to live their own lives and pursue their future, it was close to impossible to expect to stay together again.
It was even crazier to think that marriages and families will also begin. Every single student had an ongoing bet to see which couple will marry first. Most bets were placed on Hitoshi and Izuku, as well as Ojiro and Hagakure, who started dating in their first year of UA. The least amount of bets were placed on the polyamorous couple of Katsuki, Kirishima and Mina, as well as the brand new couple of Momo and Kyouka.
However, despite how different everyone's lives turns out, best wishes and good licks were thrown, and tears were shed, and speeches were told. At the end of the graduation, everyone hugged. It was a huge group hug made up of the hero course A's students, some of B's, all the teachers, all the parents of the students, and the principal as well.
It was high time all these young heroes left the nest.
Years passed, and everyone found themselves being slowly separated from each other. At first, they decided to have a group chat where they can all communicate through the years as adults until their 10 year reunion, but it didn't work out as planned.
Since they became adults and pro's, they started to get busier and busier. The first ones to vanish were Tokoyami, Shoji, Kouda, and Sero. They all saw them on the news, except Tokoyami. When asked about it, Shota admitted that Tokoyami may have become an underground hero like himself, and doesn't like the limelight. It helped reassure the rest of the ex-students that he was okay and alive, at least.
After them, Momo and Kyouka vanished as well. They ended up getting married first, telling everyone, and then leaving. They had texted weeks after their ghosting that they were okay, and just trying to live normally and balance out their home life with their hero life. They were seen on the news the next day fighting a metal user villain.
More and more of the graduated class began to vanish. They got married or stayed single, they fought villains and got fame, or only fought small timers and were barely known. Some had kids, some decided they didn't want a family, some moved out of Japan, some stayed.
And in the end, they all met new friends and a new found family.
But class 1-A was never forgotten.
The ones who managed to stay together were Izuku, Hitoshi, Ochako, Shoto, Tenya, Katsuki, Mina, and Kirishima. Izuku was what really kept them all together. Shoto, Tenya and Ochako didn't want to leave Izuku behind, having been his closest friends. And Katsuki never planned to leave him behind either, not until they died.
Tenya and Shoto had gotten married a few aftershocks the graduation, each one being at the rope age of 25. Just like their love confession in their second year, they both took rings and tried proposing to each other on the same day. It was a funny sight, and someone caught it on video for the rest of the world to see. Now at age 27, they have an adopted son from an orphanage in the other side of Japan.
Katsuki had hinted to Izuku about proposing to his boyfriend and girlfriend soon, but he was having trouble finding rings. One thing he did admit, though, was that he did not want kids. Mina loved kids, and Kiridhima didn't mind having one or two, but Katsuki was having none of it. Said he didn't want to deal with brats of his own. This caused a slight argument between the three, and they are still working it out. Izuku just hopes it won't cause them to break up.
Ochako said she didn't want to date anyone. She was so focused on her hero work and helping out her parents that she felt like she didn't have the time for a relationship, let alone children of her own. Everyone respected that, but they all hoped she would find some lovely person to sweep her off her feet.
Hitoshi and Izuku, on the other hand, haven't gotten married. They talked about it frequently, and Hitoshi already had a ring, but finding where and when and what to say was what got him stuck. He asked Shoto for advice, but found it to be no help at all.
So, basically, he had a ring sitting in his pocket for a whole year, waiting for the perfect moment to propose.
Until one day, he had the perfect opportunity.
"Hitoshi, I'm home!" Izuku shouted from the entrance, walking into their small apartment with a ruffled, dirty hero costume in his arms and civilian clothes on. Hitohsi walked out of the kitchen, wiping his wet hands on his sweatpants, smiling to his boyfriend and walking up to him to give him a kiss.
"Welcome home, Kitten." He greeted, nuzzling their noses together. Izuku giggled at that, pushing the man's face away.
"I managed to get us the weekend off. I wanted to visit my mom, take a walk around the city and go to the park. We can even take Rita." Izuku offered, gesturing to their white cat lazing on the couch. Hitoshi smiled at him, nodding.
"I would love that. On Friday then?" He asked, walking back to the kitchen to continue making dinner. Izuku hummed before walking to the room, probably to shower. Hitoshi was left there, a wide grin on his face, as he came up with his proposal speech.
The park would be a perfect place to propose. At night, under the stars, in Izuku's childhood place. He wondered why he didn't think of this before.
Friday came around and they were packed and ready, Rita the cat in her carrier and the other cats watching them leave. They took a taxi all the way to Musutafu.
Once there, they immediately made their way to Izuku's mom's, Inko Midoriya, house. When Izuku became a pro hero and got his first pay, he got his mother her own house and a dog to keep her company. She appreciated it so much that she almost flooded the house with her tears.
"Hey mom!" Izuku greeted, his smile was wide and blinding. Inko felt the tears on her cheeks as she wrapped her son in the tightest hug she could muster.
"Oh, Izuku!" She cried, lifting her much taller, much stronger son into the air and twirling him around. Hitoshi stifled his laughter when she placed his boyfriend down, the man winded, red, and clutching his ribs. "Oh dear, oh my, I'm so sorry Izuku. I'm just so happy you're here!" Inko cried, her fists balled around the hem of her loose shirt.
Izuku laughed, shaking his head and leaning down to kiss his mother's graying head. "It's okay, mom. I love your hugs, and I missed you too." He said, sniffling as tears freely fell from his glassy eyes.
Hitoshi sneakily wiped a stray tear from the corner of his eye in the background.
"Oh, Hitoshi! Hello, son." Inko greeted, walking up and wrapping the other male in a high as well. She placed her soft hands on his cheeks, patting them with a nod. "I'm so happy you two are still together." She admitted.
Izuku laughed, walking up behind his boyfriend and kissing him softly on the cheek. "Yeah. Honestly, I feel like we're gonna be together for a long time, mom."
Inko made lunch after that, offering the guest room for them. When they opened the room, Inko's dog, a small corgi, ran up to them and started running around their legs. Rita leaped out of her open carrier and began playing with him, the two animals running around the house and creating a ruckus that no one in the house really minded.
After they made themselves at home and showered, Inko took them out to her favorite restaurant for dinner before walking around a small shopping center with them. It was a lovely day with people walking up to them and asking for pictures and autographs, having laughs shared between the three and good food in their bellies. Izuku thought nothing could top this day of their three day weekend.
The next day, Inko made the couple breakfast and left for work. She planned to retire soon, but said she loved her job and still wanted to work there. Izuku didn't mind his mother's choices, nor did he try and change them, but he did wish his mother could rest.
That day, Izuku and Hitoshi went out for a walk with Inko's corgi. They walked the streets, went to Izuku's old middle school, put the corgi back in the house, took a train to UA and walked around the school, greeting the new students and seeing what they're made of, what has become of the new era. Shota still taught the hero course, and so did Hizashi. Toshinori, though, retired when they graduated, and he lived a happy retired life in the deceased Gran Torino's apartment.
Eri had gone to UA as well, and is now in her third year, about to graduate. Hitoshi and Izuku visited her as well, seeing how she was faring in class A and how far she's gotten. They visited Kouta who was a recent graduate, working in the agency that his deceased parents worked in. He was happy to see his hero and his boyfriend, giving them both hugs before leaving for patrol.
It was noon by the time they were done, the park was getting emptier by the minute and the sun was sinking below the horizon. The couple walked around the park, Izuku telling Hitoshi stories of his childhood, how he used to play with Katsuki, how he saw heroes fight villains from the top of the slide, how he scraped his knee one time jumping off the swing. They were all cute stories, happy memories Izuku wanted to share. And Hitoshi listened to them all.
The moon rose and the stars were shimmering when Hitoshi finally mustered up enough courage to get down on one knee. He cleared his throat, making Izuku turn around and put his attention on him.
A gasp was heard as Izuku cupped his hands around his mouth and began to cry.
"Kitten… Izuku." Hitoshi began. "You are the best thing that could have ever happened to me. You have made my life so much brighter, so much happier. You saved me from my own self deprecating thoughts during the sports festival in our first year, and I knew I loved you then." Hitoshi swallowed, trying not to cry himself. "Izuku, you are so amazing. You are strong, you are so friendly, so helpful, so selfless. You're drop dead gorgeous and smart, and I know that if I wasn't dating you, whoever it would've been would've felt as lucky to have you as I do." Hitoshi chuckled, opening the little black box in his hands as he muttered the last words. "So, I would like to ask you… Will you marry me? And stay with me forever?"
Izuku let out a sob, nodding and falling on his knees, crawling to his fiance and hugging him tightly. "Yes… Yes, I would love to marry you!" He cried.
Hitoshi hugged him back just as tight, and they stayed there on the ground of the park Izuku grew up in.
Months passed and it was getting closer to the 10 year reunion of UA's past class A. Hitoshi and Izuku talked for weeks after their engagement and decided they would announce the dates to their wedding on the reunion day and hand out invitations to everyone there. They also decided to have a child, and after days of searching, they finally found a quirk user who can create kids between two individuals. Today was the day they were going to visit her.
Izuku walked into the quaint little house, looking around before stepping out of the way to allow Hitoshi through. The man was carrying multiple bags with baby clothes for both boys and girls. There were also diapers and baby toys. "Hello?" Izuku called out, looking around the small interior. "Um, it's Midoriya and Shinsou, we're here to get a-"
"Hiya!" Izuku jumped three feet into the air when a very short girl with wavy sky blue hair that faded into a very light purple styled into pigtails and bright hot pink eyes spoke up, smiling up at the two men. "I'm Mitsu Tanaka, but you can just call me Mitsu!" Her voice was high and cheerful, very enthusiastic and almost childlike. She reached up and took their hands, shaking them vigorously before leading them to a desk with two chairs. She placed herself in the leather chair behind the desk, placing crossed hands on the wooden table and smiling at the couple. "So! How can I help you two today?"
Izuku smiling shyly, scratching the back of his head awkwardly and gesturing for Hitoshi to explain. Hitoshi rolled his eyes with a little smile, nodding before speaking. "We want a child. A girl, preferably, but we understand you can't choose the gender so we…" He lifted the bag. "We kinda came prepared."
Mitsu giggled, nodding enthusiastically. "Alrighty!" They saw her open a drawer and ruffle through it, pulling out a packet of papers and placing them on the desk. She then took the fountain pen from her shirt pocket, clicking it many times before signing the top paper with a flourish. The girl's pink eyes looked up at then, meeting their awkward gazes. "Who's last name is the child gonna have?" She asked, her smile never wavering.
Izuku pointed to Hitoshi. "It's gonna have his, uh, Shinsou." He said, nodding. The girl perked up and wrote the name down, dropping the pen and turning the papers to the couple.
"You two can just fill this out while I go get ready to make your bundle of joy!" She said, scooting her desk chair back and skipping away to another room.
Hitoshi and Izuku looked at each other, excitement and awkwardness filling their hearts as they read the papers and started filling them out. It asked questions like their height, their birthdays, their occupation, health history, and other useful stuff. They finished by the time Mitsu came back in a new, more revealing outfit.
The girl jumped onto her chair and looked over the papers, nodding before placing them down and taking a deep breath. Her eyes were closed and the room went silent. "Are you guys ready?" She asked, not opening her eyes as she held out her hands for the men to take. Hitoshi looked to Izuku, seeing his future husband nervous but clearly excited. He looked back at Hitoshi, giving him a nod before taking his hand and placing his other one on the girls. Hitoshi did the same.
Mitsu smiled, her eyes opening to reveal glowing pink orbs. Her pigtails came undone and her hair began to float around her head, creating a halo of blue and purple. Wind surrounded the three beings, the papers fluttering on the desk, and the men's hair ruffling. It took less than 10 seconds for a blinding white light to fill the room, making everyone clench their eyes shut.
A beat passed.
And an infant started crying.
Hitoshi and Izuku's eyes flew open, watching a small baby with a head of curly lavender and black hair float down onto the desk as if someone gently placed it there. Mitsu sighed tiredly, sweat dripping from her forehead as she let go of the men's hands and gave them a weak smile. "Here she is. Your baby girl."
Izuku's lips wobbled as he reached for the infant, lifting her to his arms and stroking her small head. The baby's cries slowly subsided, eyes opening to reveal beautiful emeralds like Izuku's. The man began to cry, Hitoshi leaning over his shoulder to look at their baby girl with a huge smile on his tearful face.
"She's beautiful."
Three months later, it was the 10 year reunion, and Hitoshi was ready to show off his daughter to his old classmates.
They arrived there after everyone else, walking in with a dark purple stroller carrying their new child. Izuku felt his heart burst at the sight of all his classmates in one place again. There were new faves as well, some were kids and some were spouses. Ochako ran up to the couple, giving them both a huge bear hug.
"Oh, I kissed you guys so much!" She exclaimed, jumping in place.
Izuku hugged her back, as did Hitoshi. "I missed you too! How have you been, Ochako?" The woman smiled, waving her hand.
"I've been just fine, Deku! I see you two adopted?" She said, looking down at the stroller.
Hitoshi laughed, nodding and opening the umbrella covering their daughter. "Yeah. She's a quirk baby so she looks like us." He explained, looking at his baby with love in his eyes. Ochako cooed as more of their old friends walked up. Tenya and Shoto were among them, Tenya holding the hand of a small blond boy with pupil-less gray eyes.
"Why, hello Izuku, Shinsou!" He greeted, chopping his free hand as his son waved shyly. Shoto gave Izuku a hug, deciding against hugging Hitoshi since he was holding the stroller.
"Hi Iida! Todoroki!" Izuku greeted. "Who's this?" He asked, leaning down and holding out a hand to the five year old boy.
Tenya looked down at his son, nudging him forward. The boy looked at his dad, gulping and reaching out a hand to Izuku, shaking their hands softly. "I-I'm Mika Todoroki." He said, voice soft and broken.
Izuku smiled at him, taking his hand away and introducing himself. While he was, Aoyama, Monoma, Sero, Denki, Momo and Kyouka all came up to them with grins. Even Monoma looked happy, which was new.
Izuku shot up when the boy moved away and hugged his friends in a big group hug. He noticed Aoyama and Monoma wearing matching wedding bands as well as Momo and Kyouka. There were two identical little girls behind the wives as well, both of them looking similar to Momo and Kyouka which made Izuku wonder if they were quirk babies.
Greetings were shared and Izuku met so many children and found out who got with who and when and how they met and the way was such a success. Izuku was so happy with how the day turned out, and he made the announcement of his wedding which will be in three weeks. Everyone congratulated him, had drinks, accepted invitations, and the party went well into the night. The old class started leaving around midnight, Hitoshi and Izuku some of the first ones to leave when the baby started to cry.
When they made it home, they showed together, fed the cats, and walked together to the baby's room. They placed their little girl on the bed, watching her laugh bubbly and shake her rattle, trying to tire herself out.
Izuku sang a lullaby, one he used to hear as a kid from his own mother, and Hitoshi rocked the crib, dimming the lights to a dull white. The baby started cooking, her rattle falling noisily onto the mattress as her green eyes started to close.
The parents sighed when her breathing evened out, cuddling together on the beanbag in the nursery and feeling their own eyes start to drop.
"It was nice… To see everyone again." Izuku said, smiling fondly. Hitoshi nodded against his fluffy curls, humming in agreement.
"I don't think this is the kind of future any of us expected, really." Hitoshi spoke. "I mean… I definitely did not expect you to be who I'd have a child with and marry, but here we are. Heh… And to think, for three years we were all together. As one big happy family." Tears filled his lavender eyes. "I think… I think this is the happiest I can be. Izuku… You've made me so happy." He said, laughing softly.
When he looked down to see Izuku's reaction, he realized his words fell upon deaf ears. He was asleep. Hitodhi smiled, wrapping an arm around Izuku and holding him close.
"Goodnight, Kitten." He whispered, kissing his head. He looked to their baby girl sleeping in her crib and smiled. "Goodnight, Kiko."
That day, Hitoshi learned something.
Hitoshi Shinsou loved exactly two things:
Cats.
And family.
