Chapter Text
He never realized it back then...
That every day he took for granted would come to an end.
Someone said, that life is just one story.
The days that inadvertently pass by are irreplaceable and will never come back.
The one page is called 'today.'
The one scene that connects with others.
Overlaps and turns into a story.
One minute... One second...
Even with the moment...
He can never close the gap.
To find one person with billions of people around.
To find one amid the winter sky.
With him against all odds.
Despair was his only companion.
The heavy snow settled on the ground of the mountain. Pushing the door open, large snowflakes swirled through the air. A cold wind blew through, causing Lan Wangji to stop at his pace.
"Wangji... Are you going somewhere?" Lan Xichen asked him in a fond tone, "mother made this for you..."
Lan Wangji wore a handmade cloak. He glances at his brother who gave him a light tap, "be careful on your way.."
"Hm."
It seems that the snowfall was becoming heavier and heavier. As Lan Wangji walked along, he found it hard to see the path. If he were not familiar with the mountain of Gusu, would not dare walk forward at all.
He traveled from Gusu to Yiling. He is to attend a night all on his own. He had never made friends with anyone, let alone talk to them. He was never open to others except for his family. He was well loved, yes, he knew it. Yet, some part tells him otherwise.
The streets of Yiling were like any other way covered with snow.
Later, he battled the feral snow tiger. He brandished and parried his sword with fluency and accuracy. However, the snow tiger was able to inflict a mortal wound on him.
He thought he was a goner. He thought he was going to die.
He wasn't afraid of death. No one would care anyway. This was made out of his duty.
However, the next moment he wakes up. A little child was crying over him. The child had sad mercurial eyes. His little hands were shaking trying to stop his bleeding. He could smell the scent of medicinal herbs and tears of cloth. The child was trying to keep him alive.
They stayed inside a large tree. It took days after days until he finally had his consciousness intact.
"Gege? Wa-water?" The child hesitantly reached for the cup of water and a bowl of congee. Lan Wangji took it and slowly drink and eat it.
He noticed the child's now ripped clothes. Noticed how malnourished he was and yet still feeding him.
It took another week for him to recover fully. That's when he learns that the child who saved him had this elixir that expelled the demonic energy inside him.
"Bye-bye!" The child happily said when he finally got on his toes.
Lan Wangji hesitated for a while before turning around and making his chase. He took his hand out and said, "come with me..."
The little child happily reached for his hand and Lan Wangji could only hold his hand tighter and secure him so that he won't trip. They went to the city and bought his clothes and meals.
At one place, he met his brother and father who checked his injuries. He glanced at his brother and father, and said, "I want to take someone back..."
His family's looks rested on the child beside him, "this is the child that save me... He had no family, or place to go to... Can I.... bring him back?"
Qingheng-jun smiled, "of course, you can Wangji..." His eyes trailed to the young child, "little one... What is your name?"
The child hid himself behind Lan Wangji, clutching his robes tightly, "w-Wei Ying... Cou-courtesy... W-Wuxian..."
The surname rang a bell in Qingheng-jun's ear. Wei.... how could he forget... This was Wei Changze and Cangse Sanren's son.
"Well done Wangji..." Qingheng-jun said, "I'm glad you found him before anyone else..."
"He found me..." Lan Wangji corrected.
Qingheng-jun could only laugh at his son's expression, he had never seen him like this before. See him being overprotective and careful over a child.
They readied themselves to fly to Gusu. Lan Wangji took Wei Wuxian into his arms.
"Gege... Where are we going?" Little Wei Wuxian asked.
"Home..."
"Home?"
"Hm... Gege will take A-Ying back home."
The child happily smiled and nodded. Lan Wangji wrapped the handmade cloak over Wei Wuxian and flew towards Cloud Recesses.
[TEN YEARS LATER]
"WEI WUXIAN!!!!" Lan Qiren's scream broke the peaceful silence of cloud recesses. The disciple's laughter filled the hall, seeing Lan Qiren chasing after Wei Wuxian!
Lan Qiren felt his back crack... He paused and place a hand on his waist, "you brat! Copy the rules a thousand times!"
The now fifteen-year-old Wei Wuxian drew graffiti at Lan's gates. Making it colorful and fun to the point of sending the old man to qi deviation.
The malnourished and shy child was no more. More like a storm came at them the moment Cloud recesses had Wei Wuxian.
"Wei Ying..." The soft baritone voice sent the youngster to a halt. He slowly turned his head to the owner of the voice, "copy the rules... Handstands..."
Slumping, Wei Wuxian had his ever-ugly face displayed, "Lan Laoshi!" He cried.
But the hands gave him the feeling that he should just nod, "come with me... You'll copy the rules with me..."
"I don't know why... But Hanguang-jun can stop Wei Wuxian from wrecking Cloud Recesses."
"Didn't you know? Hanguang-jun took him in ten tears ago. Wei Wuxian only listens to him well... Except for Madam Lan."
No one knew.
That winter's arrival signaled the beginning of love hidden by the soft snow on the ground.
No one expected.
That winter love has burned a heart. Unreturned yet such grief was hiding within someone's chest. Though he tears, it remained unexpressed
No one realized.
"Laoshi~!"
That, someone, had given his heart to someone they least expected it to be.
"Hm. Copy..."
Watching the beautiful scenery, no one realized, the sparks of love that bloom in the guise of a bond.
...to be continued...
