Work Text:
Caroline couldn’t help the shiver that ran down her spine as she stood on that balcony.
Winter was already fully upon them now, and, though she didn’t feel the cold as she once had, the chilliness of the air that night had settled in her bones. It took everything in her to keep them from trembling. It would be warmer inside, she knew, but she felt more comfortable here. It would be easy to jump — she would survive the two-story fall without a scratch. But that was just an illusion of an escape route, wasn’t it?
He could jump, too, and he would be on his feet a lot faster.
No, she knew there was no escaping him. No going back on the deal they had made.
So she stood there, wearing that dress he had chosen for her — red and silky and with the lowest cut she had ever worn in her life. It felt almost stereotypically villainous of him. To get the sweet maiden to wear a revealing dress just for his pleasure.
Only… She wasn’t a maiden. And she wasn’t sweet. She was a monster just like he was. As it so happened, just today she might have condemned countless innocents to death and suffering. And… Well, all of this would be a lot scarier if she wasn’t familiar with his bedroom. If she hadn’t felt twice now his silk sheets against her skin.
How many people would die because of what she had done? How many would lose their lives because she had saved his?
She had made a deal tonight to stop the bloodshed, but she knew it wouldn’t last forever.
“You beg me so sweetly for their lives,” he had said, while his hand cradled the back of her neck. He must have felt her pulse quickening underneath his thumb, because he had cracked a smile. “You tell me pretty words and make me pretty promises… But I believe we can find a better use for your lips.”
Was that how little he valued twelve lives? Tyler's life? He was willing to spare them if she were to suck his cock.
Caroline felt the heat in her cheeks even now. Yes, she had been in his bed before. She had spread her legs for him and screamed his name, but– She had never meant for it to happen. Each time had been an accident. A weakness. It had never been premeditated. She had never walked into this house knowing what would happen.
And yet now there she stood.
What would her friends do if they knew the price she was paying for their lives? What would her friends do if they found out she had been the one to put them in danger in the first place?
She didn’t know what was more screwed up — the fact that she hadn’t wanted the big bad wolf to die or the fact that she hadn’t fought him when that was the deal he had offered her?
Oh, she had protested. But half-heartedly at best, and fully aware that it was all futile when they both knew that he could scent the beginnings of her arousal.
She wasn’t sure how she felt about that.
Or about the fact that, when she heard the door of his bedroom opening, her shoulders tensed at the same time she felt some pressure building in her lower belly.
“Good evening, love,” Klaus greeted, his voice perfectly neutral, betraying nothing of what his intentions were tonight. It still made goosebumps run down her arms. She had never been good at controlling herself when it came to him — her body always reacted faster than her mind did… It was what had led her to his bed the previous times.
Determined to at least keep some semblance of composure, though, Caroline forced herself to take a deep breath. In truth, she wasn’t sure why she was so nervous. It wasn’t as if she had never touched him before. Just… Not like this.
Slowly, she turned around to face him.
The light was off in his bedroom, but it somehow just made his figure standing there all the more imposing. He was still wearing the suit jacket and white shirt he had for the Winter Wonderland Fête. She had gotten so used to seeing him in his Henley and jeans that it was always a surprise when he wore something different. And tonight it just made all this seem more unfamiliar and new and — if she wasn’t lying to herself, which she was — exciting.
She took a step forward, and then another, hoping she looked more confident than she felt.
“Did you keep your end of the deal?”
He raised his brows at her, a smile stretching across his lips. “Straight to business, I see.”
Caroline stopped when she was standing right in front of him, and she hoped she looked serious when she crossed her arms in front of her body — instead of it looking like she was doing it to keep her hands from trembling.
“Did you?”
Even in the dark, she could see the way his eyes flashed golden. He wasn’t happy about it, she knew. Mercy wasn’t his strongest suit, and she truly didn’t want to stop and think about what it meant that he was showing it for her… Even if his mercy came with many, many strings attached.
“Yes. Your precious friends and my treacherous hybrids remain alive… And they will remain so, as long as I never find them.” He smirked at her. “I told them I would give them tonight as a headstart… As I would be elsewhere occupied, anyway.”
“Did you tell–”
“Worry not, love. I remain your dirty little secret, as promised,” he said, but it did little to calm her down when he took a step closer to her. “Now, I believe you have made me some promises as well.”
Caroline swallowed, averting his gaze.
She had promised him this. And the dark parts of who she was, the monster that lingered right beneath her skin… No, that wasn’t true, was it? She couldn’t blame all of this on that. Her monster hadn’t been the one to say yes. Not tonight, and not the previous times either.
Christ. She wanted this. Him.
But at the same time… It felt wicked. In a way that was exciting, yes, but she was also fully aware that she would be paying for people’s lives by sucking his cock. Which was… immoral. And dirty and somehow making that pressure in her lower belly grow.
There was, however, more to her hesitance. Because this? Them? It had never been like this. Before, it had always been something they were doing together. Now she felt like the spotlight was solely on her and it was her job to impress and please the guy with a thousand years of experience.
Klaus reached out, his fingertips lightly brushing back her hair so that it would fall behind her shoulders. She felt quite exposed with her hair no longer curtaining her neck and only those two thin straps covering her shoulders. And then his knuckles were running down her cheek so gently it almost made her laugh. He dared to propose this preposterous deal and then touch her tenderly?
She didn’t know how to react to that.
But Klaus didn’t give her a chance to hide this time, and his hand came to rest on her chin. His grip wasn’t rough, but it was firm enough that she had no choice but to look up and meet his eyes.
He had his lips pressed together, and his gaze was scanning her face, looking for something she didn’t know what it was. He didn’t seem pleased, but he didn’t seem angry — in fact, he looked almost worried, though she couldn’t for the life of her figure out why. Until he opened his mouth.
“Are you afraid of me?”
Yes.
Except– if she said yes, he would stop this. She knew that. Which meant the answer was no. It was quite ridiculous, really, and she was sure that it made her the stupidest person on the planet. She was all alone in Klaus Mikaelson’s bedroom, and she wasn’t the slightest bit worried that he would hurt her.
Caroline shook her head. “No.”
He searched her gaze, no doubt trying to tell whether or not she was telling him the truth. Whatever he found, it made him smile, and he looked quite satisfied with himself — in a way that she would normally find annoying, but... His thumb was caressing her cheek so tenderly, and his eyes were filled with something warm… It left her a little speechless.
“Good.”
She had to take a deep breath to calm herself. This was Klaus. Klaus wasn’t going to hurt her. Klaus… He liked her. Which was perhaps what she should truly be worried about.
“How do you want me?” she managed to ask without letting her voice crack.
There was a dangerous glint in his eyes at her question.
Klaus took a small step back, so that he could let his gaze wander down her body. He looked downright predatory as he scanned every curve of her. She shivered, pinned in place by his hungry eyes; she was certain that the thin fabric of her dress was not doing a good enough job at concealing the way her body was reacting. And she very much doubted that Klaus would do her the courtesy of pretending her nipples had hardened because of the cold.
He turned his attention back to her face, just so he could watch closely as his fingertips traced her lips.
Caroline felt her heart racing in her chest, unable to stop herself from imagining what else would soon be touching her mouth.
To her surprise, however, Klaus stepped away from her. He turned his back to her, walking slowly across his room and she knew that it had to be on purpose. That all he wanted was to leave her on edge, skin burning with anticipation.
And he very much succeeded.
Caroline hadn’t been surprised to learn that Klaus was the kind of guy who liked to be in control in the bedroom. She had been surprised, however, by how much she had enjoyed that. And she was sure he hadn’t failed to notice it either.
She kept her eyes on him, watching his every movement like a hawk as her heart hammered against her ribcage.
Finally, Klaus stopped. Choosing to sit on the edge of the bed.
“On your knees,” he said, half answering her question, half commanding her.
She wouldn’t offer him the satisfaction of backing away now. So she took the steps that separated them, trying to keep them slow and sure.
But she found it a lot harder to be graceful when she had to kneel in between his legs — especially when the place between her legs was starting to ache, demanding her attention. She did her very best to ignore it.
Klaus said nothing, only stared at her with darkened eyes as she knelt for him.
It was strange, being in that position. Looking up at him like that, expectantly. She suddenly realized just how good Klaus had always been about making it all about her, because her mind could conjure very vivid images of the times their positions had been reversed.
She had felt powerful, then, seeing the most dangerous man in the world kneeling for her. Pleasuring her.
But she realized she felt powerful now, too.
There was a certain high in knowing that he had wanted this. He could’ve asked her for anything, but all he had wanted was her. All he had wanted was to fall apart because of her touches.
“Like this?” she asked, a small smile on her face.
Klaus reached out, placing his hand on the top of her head and caressing her hair… Until he grabbed a fistful of her curls and tugged at it lightly. He smiled as she gasped.
“Perfect,” he praised, letting his gaze wander down her body once more.
Now she understood why he had made her wear that dress tonight. Judging by the way his eyes lingered on her breasts, she knew he was being offered quite a generous view.
He let go of her hair in favor of reaching for the zipper of his pants. She could only watch as he moved to undress himself, her mouth salivating as he dropped his pants and briefs down to his ankles.
Caroline felt herself blush as she looked at him.
She had done this before, just not with him. And there was something wicked about her face being so close to his cock. About watching up close as Klaus wrapped his hand around himself, moving up and down slowly as he hardened against his own touch.
Shit.
It seemed it was far too late to worry about whether or not she was supposed to be enjoying this situation this much. Perhaps it would just be easier to accept that she was and feel guilty about it later — or, well, feel worried about how she wasn’t feeling guilty at all.
In any case, those were concerns for later. Much later.
Unable to stop herself, she reached out to touch him, covering his hands with hers as she asked for permission. Klaus raised his brows at her, but did as she asked and pulled back his hands, letting her do the work.
She didn’t miss the way he immediately gripped onto the edge of the mattress as she began to stroke him.
The first time she had found her way into his bedroom, Caroline thought she would never leave it again. Klaus had been… thorough. Enough to leave a baby vampire like her a complete mess for hours after they had stopped. And the second time she had found her way into his bedroom… Well, she realized why he had been so dedicated. He had been exploring her, memorizing her. Learning all the buttons he had to press to make her come undone.
But what maybe he hadn’t noticed yet was that she had paid attention, too.
She had listened for the soft gasps and low murmurs of her name when she touched him. She knew how to make him feel good.
And so she smiled victoriously when he hissed at her, eyes shining gold, as she brushed her thumb against his tip.
He seemed feral. The way he looked when she thought he meant to eat her whole, only… This time she was the one about to devour him.
He had grown hard in her hands, pre-cum already glistening at the tip of him. Caroline couldn’t help but lick her lips at the sight of him. The Original Hybrid, the big bad wolf that haunted everyone’s dreams… He actually looked desperate for her.
If they ever did this again — and they certainly weren’t going to, she would make sure of that —, perhaps she would test what it would take for him to break. How much teasing would he endure before he snapped and demanded what he needed?
Tonight, though, she knew he had already exceeded his quota of mercy, and she didn’t think he would let her get away with much.
So she leaned in.
She kept her gaze trained on his face as her lips first brushed against his cock. From the corner of her eyes, she could see his grip tightening on the mattress, though she doubted his hands would stay there for long.
Caroline did her best to take in as much of him as she could, only stopping when her eyes started to water as she gagged around him.
“Look at you,” he whispered. “Have you any idea how many times I pictured you just like this? With your pretty lips wrapped around my cock… You look so very lovely, Caroline. My imagination could never compare.”
She hummed around him, hoping that would encourage him to keep talking as she started to move.
The pressure in her lower belly was more insistent than ever. She couldn’t help but feel pleased that she was pleasing him. And there was something extremely satisfying about him admitting that he had thought about this. That he had fantasized about her in this position. That he had wanted this so much that he had latched onto the first opportunity he had to make it a reality.
“Keep your eyes on me,” he instructed. “I want to see you… And I think you want to see me, too, don’t you? You enjoy pretending that you don’t want this, but you love this. You want to see me fall apart because I like fucking your mouth.”
Fuck.
Caroline had to press her thighs together. God. There was something about the fact that he knew that she was enjoying this and knew why she was enjoying this that just made it all the more thrilling.
It seemed to be working for him as well, because his hips started moving, thrusting up to meet her mouth and making her move faster.
And, as she had predicted, one of his hands abandoned its place on the mattress to find its way to her hair, burying itself in it. He didn’t pull at it as he had before, but he helped her find the rhythm he needed, guiding her head up and down his length.
Pressing her legs together wasn’t cutting it. And, before she could stop herself, she had one of her hands desperately pulling up the skirt of her dress, but– While she couldn’t stop herself, Klaus seemed to have no qualms about doing it. He grabbed her arm with his free hand.
“No touching yourself,” he ordered. “I want you to focus. I want to see you getting desperate because you love sucking my cock too much.”
Caroline couldn’t help the whine that escaped her throat, but she complied. Though she had to grab the fabric of her dress into a tight fist to keep her hand in control.
But well, he wanted her to focus on him? She would.
With her other hand, Caroline reached to cup his balls, feeling victorious when that had him cursing under his breath.
And when she added a hint of her teeth against him as she moved… His eyes flashed golden. This time, he did pull her hair in a warning. But she just took that as encouragement. And she did it again, and again… Each time, he would jerk his hips up suddenly to meet her mouth.
She could see it, the way his jaw was clenching. How his eyes were struggling to stay open.
He was close. He was close to falling apart because he liked the feeling of her mouth wrapped around him too much, and fuck– She knew she would need only a brush of fingers against her clit for her to fall apart at that knowledge. But this wasn’t about her, was she?
And when she hollowed out her cheeks around him, she was met with a sharp yank of her hair and–
“Fuck, Caroline.”
He gasped out her name as he thrust into her mouth one last time, spilling down her throat.
Caroline kept her eyes on his face, memorizing this. How it felt to be the one to get him to fall apart. How he looked when that happened… The lustful darkness that took hold of his bright blue eyes, the way his full lips looked parted like that, having just said her name like a sinner praying for absolution.
How many enemies tried to end him and couldn’t even get him to break a sweat? She could see the way his curls were beginning to stick to his forehead. How his breathing was ragged.
All because of her.
She pulled back, licking her lips to taste the evidence of how much he wanted her. Yes, she felt pretty damn powerful.
“You,” he said, his voice weak as he was out of breath, “are perfect.”
She didn’t think he meant only because of her, well, oral abilities.
“Do you consider our deal fulfilled, then?” she asked with a smile. A little payback for all the times he had sounded perfectly composed when she had been an undone mess lying in these very sheets. Though, her composure was very much faked.
She could still feel that burning in between her thighs. And, if she wasn’t careful, she would let it take hold of her.
Klaus laughed.
She hadn’t seen him laugh like that many times. Looking so completely relaxed. It made something deep inside her chest stirr. He didn’t look like the devil when he laughed like that.
“Yes. Our deal is fulfilled,” he said, already sounding a little more in control.
Before she could even process what was happening, Klaus leaned down, pressing his lips against her as he cradled her head.
And she could– Oh, she could very easily get lost in this. She was still burning, and she knew he would take good care of her. Way better care than she ever could if she went home all alone. But, mustering every ounce of self control she possessed, Caroline pulled back.
“No,” she said. It was hard not to smile when Klaus looked so dumbfounded. “You don’t get to touch me tonight. Not when you were going to kill my friends.”
Klaus blinked at her. Once, twice. And then he frowned. “Well, let’s not be hypocrites, sweetheart. They were going to kill me too.”
It was true. Though, then again, to be fair… No one would be trying to kill anyone if he wasn’t a homicidal maniac who liked having his own personal slaves.
This time, she did smile as she shook her head. “You still don’t get to touch me.”
His eyes lost all of the remaining haziness, and turned calculating in a second. Analysing her. She knew he wanted to figure out whether or not this was a battle he could win. But she was determined to walk away with some shred of dignity still intact.
She had already given him far too much tonight.
Klaus noticed her resolve because he nodded, pulling back his hand so that she could stand up.
Lest any of them changed their minds, she quickly turned around, ready to get out of that house as quickly as possible, but–
“Caroline?” She paused at the sound of his voice, turning back to look at him. The smile on his face carried none of the wickedness that was usually his trademark. “Thank you. For saving me today.”
She felt a knot in her throat.
She didn’t want to face this, not really. Not yet. But she hadn’t been able to let him perish today. The thought of him being gone, of never seeing him again… She hadn’t been able to live with that.
And that said a lot more than whatever it was they did in that bedroom.
Caroline nodded, before taking the remaining steps towards the door. And– she should just go , but she stopped, holding the door open. And she looked at him over her shoulder, offering him one of her sunshine smiles.
“I just– I like it when you are alive. So… Try not to get yourself killed, okay?”
Klaus smiled at her, too. “I will do my best.”
