Ah So That's Why The Electrical Bill Is So High

Summary:

What a great thing light's are. To be specific LED light's of the strip variety. Listen alright he got a lot of LED strip light's and had some fun with it okay. Besides his room look's great now.

Then again so does everyone's. Oh well his is better.

Notes:

Work Text:

"Tommy what the fuck did you buy!?" Echoed up the stairway and he grinned. Guess his stuff showed up then.

Listen okay you couldn't exactly blame him for the rather irresponsible purchase, it was the middle of fall break and he had access to a credit card. Terrible combination really. Totally not his fault.

Either way there were now multiple packages sitting on the front porch and a very confused Phil. Perfect combination in his very not humble opinion.

He was still grinning when he got to the front porch and scooped up the many packages while laughing hysterically at Phil. He was halfway up the stairs to his room when Wil entered the scene. For a moment the family was silent until Wilbur took in the many boxes in his arms. "YOU FUCKING GREMLIN! ONE OF THOSE IS MINE!" Wilbur shouted in anger and he immediately decided to ruin Wilbur's day.

"CATCH ME IF YOU CAN!" He yelled out as he took the remaining steps two at a time before running into his room and locking the door behind him.

He could hear Wilbur angrily bouncing his fists off the door but he paid the other no mind. If he wanted his package that bad he should have gotten there first. After a moment the banging stopped and he considered himself victorious.

He looked through the boxes and threw Wil's off to the side. And then picked it up and set it on his desk chair worried it was fragile. Listen he may be a 'gremlin' as Wilbur called him but he wasn't an asshole.

He grinned as he picked up the smallest package. He just knew Tubbo would absolutely love these and would no doubt attempt to steal them. He opened the box carefully, not quite sure which side was actually supposed to open. They really had to put a ‘this side up’ sticker on these things.

Once he wrestled the box open - he really should have thought to grab scissors or something on his way up - his smile grew even larger as he smiled down on the mushroom studs sitting in his palm. Quickly he removed the pair he was wearing - gold snakes they were his second favorite pair - and put in the small mushrooms before going over to the mirror sitting on the side of his room and grinning at the reflection of the studs.

Oh yeah Tubbo would definitely be wanting these. He reached back into the small box and his hand came out with a pair of small ruby's. They were perfect for more public occasions that didn't include school. In other words public occasions where 'Karens' would be pissed at him for wearing something like them.

When the knocking picked back up again he rolled his eyes. "Go away Wilbur!" He shouted.

"Not Wilbur." Techno called back.

"Oh." He moved carefully to the door and opened it after peering under the thing to make sure Techno was alone. "Hello." He said as he opened the door.

"Hullo." The other replied pushing him over and barging into the room and grabbing the package that had been sitting on his chair.

"Hey what the fuck!" He shouted. "What did he give you!?"

"No chores for a month." Techno replied ever monotone.

"Fucker." Either way he nodded. Good for Techno, not having to do chores and all. Good for him.

"Those look nice by the way." His only brother said - he disowned Wilbur two weeks ago for stealing Henry - gesturing to the small mushrooms in his ears as he left the room.

He perked up under the compliment though he didn't show it.

He went back to the boxes and opened the next. This one he learned had at least one of the LED strips he ordered in it. Upon further observation it had two of them. Well that was a project for after he finished unboxing the other two boxes.

The third box had yet another LED strip as well as a small light up Minecraft block lamp. He liked to think it was a good purchase.

The fourth box held two extension cords as well as a seal plushie. All in all that one was the weirdest combination of items. Once he had sectioned everything off he frowned. Now logically he'd need a stool to accomplish the goal that he wanted to do.

However unlogically, illogically, whatever's the opposite of logically he did not need one of those, all he needed was his height which was quite tall.

He unspooled a roll of LED's and peeled off the tape which was rather satisfying he had to admit. He pressed it to the wall just below the ceiling and almost fell over in the process. Okay maybe he did need the stool.

He wandered down stairs and into the kitchen. "Dad." He whined, catching the man's attention.

"What Tommy?"

"Where's the stool?" He asked with slightly pouty eyes.

"The one you usually keep in your room or the smaller one?" Phil asked as he looked through the pantry.

"Oh shit! I have one in my room! Never mind Dadza!"

Phil just chuckled as he yet again ran up to his room. After a few moment's of searching in his way too messy closet he emerged with the stool that one hundred percent looked like a miniature ladder.

He had to admit with a ladder putting up the lights was a lot easier. Like a lot easier. Like he finished putting the ones for the top part of his room up in ten minutes easily. With two strands down and one remaining the only thing left to do was put them on his two bookshelves and desk. Should be easy right.

Nah, it's not.

He looked down at his desk and frowned as he tried to move the thing which simply refused to budge. Thus he created a new plan.

He pulled the thing out just enough to squeeze behind and called that good enough. However now came his second problem. He had to somehow get three pieces of furniture lit up by one strand. In other words he had to get creative with his furniture placement.

After rearranging his room but not moving his desk he settled on having the desk and two bookshelves go together to form a kind of L shaped desk. It looked pretty good if he said so himself.

Now comes the fun part. Sticking the light's to the damn thing.

Once that was done he was left with pushing it all back to the wall which would be a bit of a pain. After examining it for a solid five minutes he decided if he pushed the desk back again he could just realign the two bookshelves and push them together which would make his job significantly easier. So that's what he did.

By the time he was done it was dark and he could see his light's perfectly.

He had decided to put the lamp on top of his desk and the room looked amazing in his opinion, which is of course the only one that matters. Anyway off to get Phil, his brother, and Wilbur to get them to see it.

Once locating his sibling - Wilbur was still disowned - and Phil as well as Wilbur he harassed them into coming to check out his room. Listen he may be sixteen but he still wanted to show his family his cool room.

When they entered the room he was downright giddy. "Holy shit Toms! This actually looks really cool!" Wilbur said as the light's shifted to a purple and then a light green before going to a darker green and then fading into red.

He grinned as Techno and Phil stood with small smiles. "This is pretty cool." Techno muttered as he messed with the remote to his lamp changing it to a pink. For a moment it was quiet.

"Phil, can I please have some strip lights?" Techno asked calmly.

"PHIL CAN I GET SOME?" And Wilbur shouted.

"Sure I literally don't care." Phil said as he walked out muttering something about getting his own as well.

After that he was forced to help both Wilbur and Techno put up their lights.

Wilbur's were almost always a warm and homey yellow or a dark blue that painted his walls in the color.

Techno's were usually a pink that was more on the red side though it always looked nice, on rare days the light's would glow red under his door and it was known to leave him be for the day.

Turns out Phil got them as well and his were always a nice dark green or a deep purple that reminded him of a dress he once saw in a picture.

After that the light's were used as a sort of 'can I some in' if they were a certain color then it would be best to leave them alone, another and they wanted company but wouldn't ask.

All in all the light's were probably the best purchase despite how much he loved the seal plush he named friend.

Notes:

So Friend the seal. Cool right! As always let me know if there are any spelling errors!

Listen okay I asked earlier but so far no one has answered. Please people I am begging for song suggestions. I keep hearing the same music over and over again and I crave new things! So like please, only if you want to tho I'm not like gonna force you, it's more of a suggestion. Listen okay I dunno and I'm sleep deprived and an idiot the perfect combination.

Anywho have a great night/day and eat a snack and drink some water!
