Chapter Text
You let out a quiet sigh, hoping that maybe Lambert would hear you and wake up. Out of the corner of your eye, you looked to see if he had heard you. He didn’t even move.
You were so tired that you were restless. You wanted to sleep but the new bed was making it impossible. It was so big and it felt empty. You liked your old bed. Sure it was smaller but it left little room for space and you always felt that the fur blanket and the quilt on your bed were enough. And on that bed, Lambert couldn’t migrate away from you.
But the new bed gave him enough room to scoot away from you when you were being a little too clingy. He still wasn’t too used to sharing a bed with someone every night and he definitely wasn’t used to how cuddly you could get in your sleep.
You rubbed your eyes. You knew that if Lambert just rolled over in the bed and wrapped his arms around you, you’d be able to go to sleep just fine.
With your bottom lip between your teeth, you turned your head to look at the witcher. He looked so comfortable that you almost felt bad for what you were about to do. Surely it would wake him up, but he had the uncanny ability to literally fall asleep anywhere.
You slowly started to scoot across the bed until you were close enough to slip your arm around his stomach. He shifted a little at the contact but said nothing so you continued. You put yourself as close to him as possible, bending your knees along his and tucking your neck into his neck.
It only took a few moments for him to wake up. He turned to look over his shoulder. You smiled softly at him, hoping he’d just let you stay there.
“The hell are you going?” He muttered sleepily.
“I have crossed oceans of bed to be with you.” You tightened your grip on him.
In his sleepy haze, the words didn’t process as quick as they usually would. You thought that he would stay, allowing you to hold him until you drifted off to sleep.
“Gross.” He started to pull away from you, inch further across the bed from you.
“No! No, Lambert!” You whined, grabbing at the material to his top. “Lambert! I’m tired!”
“Me too! But some ass decided to wake me up.” He retreated across the bed until he was out of reach. How the hell was there so much bed left for him to move to?
“Lambert, I can’t go to sleep.” You put your head down on the pillows, frowning.
“Try staying still for longer than ten seconds. You’ve been tossing and turning all night.”
“This bed is just too big.” You bit your lip. “Will you hold me, Lambert?”
He said nothing for a few minutes before grumbling something incoherent under his breath and turning over to face you.
“Come here.” His arms slipped around you and tugged you across the bed until you were buried in his chest.
“Thank you, Lambert.” You smiled happily, curling your arms up between your chest and his.
