Chapter Text
This was not how he wanted to spend his night.
He was currently bound with rope too thick to cut through and blindfolded. He was lucky that he was a fox so he used his ears to his advantage.
He had been sleeping when he awoke to the sound of the door opening. He assumed it was his father so he let it be, but the person (people?) opening the door didn't smell like his father. So he panicked and tried to fight back. But he let his emotions override his senses. And so, he lost.
Which brings us to now. He can smell that he's in a filthy room. What's worse is that he smells iron. A LOT of it. But it smells stale. Which is worse. Hold on- is someone screaming? He focuses on it. Yep, that is definitely the cries of someone. He's screwed.
Just as he begins to worry, he hears the door open.
"We were lucky we caught that mutt..."
"Shapeshifter-"
"Eyes are valuable-"
Those are only the glimpses of conversation he managed to hear. He quickly tried to get his breathing to a point where it sounded like he was sleeping and calm his racing heart.
He felt a horrible pain in his stomach. He almost threw up. Someone had kicked him.
"Wake up." The person said, almost sounding bored. He grunted in pain.
The stranger took off the blindfold and he finally opened his eyes. He observed his surroundings and almost gasped. But he didn't, he couldn't let them see his weakness.
There was indeed dried blood on the floor. The two guys were wearing masks so he couldn't identify them. Torture items on the wall, meaning that they have done this before. Fundy shuddered at the thought.
The furry then realized something. He quickly closed his eyes. Oh no... he now realized why he was here. They wanted his eyes.

Shapeshifters are rare, really rare. Like only one in a few million are born to hybrids. Most of the remaining ones are either captured, blind, or dead. Which means his mother and him are some of the last ones that are walking free and with eyes.
But I bet you're wondering, 'Why do they want our eyes?'. Well then, I'll tell you.
Think of shapeshifter eyes like ender eyes. We need them to teleport, but the difference with our eyes is that they can use them to shapeshift. It's not only appearance, they can also use the abilities of what or who they shapeshiftered into.
And you know people, they get power hungry. Which led to the almost extinction of our species.
