Chapter Text
"-and then the god XD promised to care for the future heir in honor of the princess. The end" the person reading says as they close the book in front of the child.
"Hmmmm...." The child in question hummed in contemplation, putting his hand under his chin and scrunching up their nose.
"Is the story not up to your standards, Ranboo" the named child looked up at their parent and shakes his head "then whats wrong?" He lowers his head and thinks once again.
There's a moment of silence, before the child speaks with a pout "The story is sad"
"Sad?" The adult asked while tilting their head "Why is it sad?"
The child looked up from the book to his mother's emerald eyes.
"Didn't XD feel sad, when the princess left them?" The child asked with a curious gaze "She just left them, and then she passed away"
The other snorted, "Well, I think XD understand the princess" at the small mutter of 'why' the adult continued "the princess was a free spirit, she did everything she wanted to do. XD accepted that, and I feel like they aren't sad that she died, they were sad that she left" the adult emphasized the last word by booping the young prince's nose.
"What's the difference?" The prince asked.
"Didn't she left at the start of the book?"
The child turned around in his lap to hug his mother, and sniffled at the crook of their neck. " Now it's more sad" the adult chuckled, while patting Ranboo's hair.
When Ranboo calmed down he asked "will you promise to not do the same?" The adult hummed to signal Ranboo to continue "You won't leave me like the princess right mom?" He detached himself to look at his mom
The king's gaze softened and he caressed the child's cheek "Isn't it the opposite?" The adult rose his eyebrows. "Is that what your worried about?"
It always baffles the king on how much he looked after himself, from the small freckles that scatter around his cheeks, his dirty blonde hair to the emerald eye that he has, but if he turned his gaze ever so slightly he gets reminded of him.
"Mooomm...." The child whines, "you have to promise" the child copied his mother and place his small fingers in his mother's cheek.
The king's laugh turned to a wheeze, his son always amuses him. Once he calmed down he wipe his eyes form the tears."Okay, I promise"
"Pinky promise?" " Of course"
"Yay" the child dropped his head in his mother's chest and yawned. The fact that it's his bedtime and his mother patting his hair is making him sleepy much faster
"Ranboo" "hmm?" "If you get your first prime, you tell me okay?" "'kay"
The only last thought of the prince before he sleeps is "what's a prime"
The king deposited his child to lay down in the bed before tucking him in "I love you, Ranboo" he kissed his forehead
"Hmmmm.... 'ove you too"
The king rose from the bed, and turned to the balcony of his room. Ranboo was really persistent in staying in his room for the night. That sent a smile to his face while he's opening the window. Once he stands before the railings he exhaled, rubbing his arms when the breeze got stronger.
"The moon is bright tonight" a voice remarked beside him. Their stand the god XD, wearing his usual garbs, his arms behind his back, and looking up to the moon. "But, the story was missing something, Dream"
Dream looked at the god before sighing, he wonders if the god even has a face.
"Why are so quiet today?" No answer? "Well you have to tell him sooner" the god looked at the trembling hand of his vassal and sighed "What are you so worried about, he's gonna know sooner or later"
"... I'll tell him before his birthday" "alright"
There was a comfortable silence, before dream broke it "What will his prophecy be?"
"I dont know, Im not omnipotent, Dream" the mentioned monarch scoffed "Yeah, right"
"The story is still missing some parts, Dream"
"I know"
"Would you mind finishing it form me?"
"Whats the point in asking your just going to annoy me until I do" the tall figure chuckled at the humans annoyance
"While looking after the kingdom, the god still saddened about the dead of the princess, place a blessing and curse upon the heir, called a prime, these are the prophecies dictating the life of the heir until their death.."
Dream drawled out the last words , before turning to the god "there happy now?"
"Very"
"Tch, egoistical bastard"
"I may not know his fate"
"Of course you do
"But I know that Ranboo's going to grow up beautifully"
"I know" ".... How is he?"
The god tilted their head "who"
"You know who Iam talking about" the king clenched his fist.
"Well he's doing alright, he's being cared for wonderfully, and he's progressing just like Ranboo is"
"Thank you"
"You're welcome"
Silence greeted them once again, other than the check-ins the good does they don't really have much to talk about
"You do know that I treat you like my own child right?" The god put their hands on his shoulder, when did he get here?"If anything is troubling you, you can come to me"
"I know..... Goodnight XD" the king turned around to head inside, not even sparing the god a glance.
"Goodnight, Dream" and with that, the god faced the moon and breathed deeply, these humans are truly troublesome.
