Wilbur wasn't always a pirate captain. First he was the oldest child of a middle class family. Next he was a run away who fled to the edge of the sea. Then he was a siren, playing a stolen guitar in the streets for just enough money to get by. After that he joined a pirate crew and began to sail the seas.
One day the captain was hired to go to an island and find a buried tresure cause this story is cliche. I also don't know how transitions work but for some reason they decide to ditch Wilbur there.
Wilbur survives on his own on the island for an unditermined amount of time. At some point he befriends a parrot and names it peter.
One day while walking along the shore, he hears humming. He follows it to some rocks on the side of the water. And there sits a merling. With beautiful orange hair laying around her and bright red scales glittering in the sunlight.
Wilbur steps over the rocks and calls out hello. The merling turns to him, startled, before moving to dive back under the water. Wilbur calls out to her, asking her to stop, and she does, albeit hesitantly.
The two introduce themselves to each other and start talking. The two start meeting by those rocks every day and having long conversations that last until sunset.
One day while talking, Sally brings up the topic of why Wilbur was alone on the island, and Wilbur says that he was abandoned there.
Sally says she knows a human who has a boat who doesn't live too far from the island that she could ask for help, and Wilbur excitedly agrees.
Sally swims off to one of the nearest towns to the island. She finds the human (Eret) and tells him about Wil. Eret agrees, and he and his friend Jack grab their boat and set off for the island with Sally guiding them.
They get there and pick Wilbur up, before sailing back home.
After spending awhile at Eret's, the three decide to start sailing around and doing pirate shit.
Over time, their ship grows. The first people to join are two mercenaries, Techno and Philza. The group combines their money and shit to upgrade to a larger ship becuase ships, i dunno.
Philza also brought along his wife, Kristin, another merling.
Soon after that Wilbur and Sally had a child, who they named Fundy.
The next person was a runaway by the name of Tommy. Wilbur had ran into him in a market one day when Tommy had made an absolutely terrible attempt at pickpocketing him.
The last two to join were another merling who knew Sally and a teenager that the merling had invited to join.
Wilbur liked his new ship, and he wouldn't trade his crew, his family, for the world.
