Work Text:
It was quiet today in Hell, the only sounds being the soft screams of souls in the distance and the ruptures of lava flows within the surface of Hell. Lucifer, C.E.O and ruler of Hell, had thought this as well. Hell did seem quiet today, and the fact that her paperwork was done for the day did not help her in the slightest. She simply sipped her red wine, looking out into the landscape of Hell, wondering how to fix this predicament she faced.
“Oh Lucy!” Lucifer grimaced at the voice that pierced her ears. She turned to the voice to see a fellow demon like her, white horns showing her ancient status, short, curled hair that was white as bone, with red eyes and fair complexion. She wore a tailcoat jacket, waistcoat, gloves, and dress shoes, all in crimson glow with a black undershirt. She had a barbed tail that all demons have. She also had that famous smirk that always infuriated Lucifer, though she still considered this demon a friend.
“Ah, Beelzebub, what can I do for you today?” Lucifer asked in a friendly, yet tired tone. Beelzebub said nothing, simply walking to the C.E.O.
“Considering that everything is quiet in hell, and we both seem to be free, I figured-”
“You got done with your job early and are bored, aren’t you?” Lucifer said with a smirk. Beelzebub simply stared at her, took out her handkerchief, and began to wipe off the sweat that started to form on her forehead.
“Perhaps.”
“Well, you’re lucky I’m in the same situation as you are, Beel. Come on, let’s head down to the city, see what they have.” Beelzebub smiled and went to the door, opening it up to the C.E.O of Hell. Lucifer walked to the door and out of her office, with the Lord of the Flies closing the door behind them.
Within the 6th to 9th circles of hell, the city of Dis stood as the main center of trade and commerce within all of Hell. It had plenty of houses for those who wish to live there, as well as various shops and stores for supplies that are needed for daily life within the underworld.
"Ah, Dis. A city so full of sin and misery. It really warms my heart." Beelzebub said, looking at a sex toy shop. Luckier simply looked around, looking at the various denizens of hell as they walked past her and her fellow Demon. "Oh, it looks like they have one where you feel everything! How about it? Care to do a test run with me? Lucy~" Lucifer looked over to Beelzebub with a smile.
"While that sounds ravishing, I'm afraid I'll have to decline this once." Beelzebub sighed, but decided to go in to buy it anyways.
"I'll be heading in, Lucy."
"Don't have too much fun." With the Lord of Flies heading inside, Lucifer was on her own, in front of a sex shop in the middle of the big city. To most, they would ignore or be wary that the most powerful being in Hell was in front of a sex shop. For one being however,
“Woah!”
That was not the case.
Lucifer’s eyes widened at the voice and looked down towards the small voice. She saw a small child with white hair, with a ponytail tied to the back of her head and short, black horns. She also wore a small red dress shirt with a black tie, black dress pants and shoes as well. She looked up at Lucifer in awe with her red eyes.
“Y-You’re Lucifer! The big bad boss of Hell!” Lucifer was unable to reply, as the child was simply looking up at her with sparks in her eyes.
“Is there something you need, child?”
“Pretty!” Lucifer did not expect to hear this from the child's voice. She chuckled at the comment.
“Well, thank you for the compliment. Tell me, where is your family? Are you lost?”
“Nah, they’re around, but what are you doing here, Miss?” The child asked with a curious tone. Lucifer’s eyes turned back to the sex shop they were in front of, where she could see Beelzebub holding a large….object, possibly flirting with the owner in the shop. She blushed, not wanting to embarrass herself in front of this child.
“I was just out and about with a friend of mine. Making our rounds and making sure everything is in order within Hell.” Perfect, now she will never know that she and Beel were simply bored. “Now, may I have the name of the child in front of me?”
“Hey, I’m not a child! I’m a fearsome demon! Like you!” Lucifer chuckled at the comment, made by the child.
“Well then, tell me, what is the name of the fearsome demon?” The Child then smiled coolly and looked at the C.E.O of Hell.
“While I am a demon, I will be known throughout hell as Justice! The Awesome Demon!” Lucifer stared at the child, now known to her as Justice, with silent, widened eyes.
The Awesome Demon?
Lucifer gave a small chuckle, and then began to laugh. In fact, Lucifer was sure she had not laughed this hard in a while.
Justice, on the other hand, was not pleased.
“Hey, what’s wrong with that?!” Lucifer kept laughing but began to calm down.
“I have never heard of a demon calling themselves that. The Awesome Demon, how childish.” Lucifer laughed again. “What, would you try and protect me with your awesomeness once you become The Awesome Demon?”
“Yes.” This caused Lucifer to fall silent. She looked at Justice, who had a serious look on her face. “That is my dream. To be awesome, and to use my awesome powers to protect you!” Lucifer couldn’t believe what she was hearing. This child wanted to grow up and become a truly fearsome demon for the purpose of being awesome. Which was all for the opportunity to protect her, Lucifer, the ruler of Hell. It honestly made Lucifer really happy.
“Well then.” Lucifer leaned down to Justice. “If you think you can do it, then do your best. I’ll be watching with great interest.” Justice gained a huge grin from this. “Now, run along Justice, go back to your family.”
“Okay then, by Miss Lucy!” Justice began to run off. Lucifer realised what she called her and began to yell out,
“Hey! It’s…” By the time she was about to correct Justice, she had already rounded the corner. Lucifer sighed and smiled at the direction Justice went. Just as she sighed, Beelzebub had come out of the store, a bag in hand.
“Hey Lucy, ready to go?”
“Yeah, I’m ready.” Beelzebub looked over Lucifer’s shoulders to see what she was looking at.
“What are you staring at?”
“Nothing, just something to keep an eye on. Let’s head back.” Beel nodded, and they both returned to Lucifer’s office in the ninth circle.
Years later, Lucifer was out, making her rounds around Hell. She had finished her paperwork once again and found herself free to do what she wanted. Instead of waiting for Beelzebub to barge into her office again, she decided to go out on her own, and visit one specific person.
“High Prosecutor! How goes the punishing?” The High Prosecutor of Hell, the one meant to deal punishment to sinners, turned to her. Unlike most demons, she had bright red skin that made her stand out from the crowd. She had long white hair that went to her lower back, white horns that pointed forward, and shared the red eyes that most demons shared with one another. She wore a black suit jacket with two small spikes on the shoulders and a steel armored chest plate that covered her entire torso. She also had large silver gauntlets that went from her wrists to just before her elbow. She also had a red belt with a pentagram pin in it and she wore black jeans with steel shin guards and large black boots. The High Prosecutor turned to Lucifer.
“Greetings Ma’am, the punishment of sinners is being given as ordered.” Lucifer raised an eyebrow at this.
“Then why are you here and only observing the punishment, Fate?” The Militaristic Demon, now known as Fate, smiled at her ruler.
“That, Ma’am, is because I am not administering the punishment. My apprentice is manning the Sin Machine instead.” Lucifer’s eyes widened. She did not hear that Fate had taken an apprentice, as the person succeeding the position of High Prosecutor must be trained by the previous one. Before Lucifer had a chance to ask who this new apprentice was, a voice was heard over the distance.
“GET READY FOR A HELLA GOOD TIME! ‘CAUSE THE SIN MACHINE IS ABOUT TO IGNITE!” Lucifer and Fate turn to the voice and the C.E.O. of Hell was shocked at who was on top of the Sin Machine. She still had her white hair tied in a ponytail by a red ribbon, and her small horns have grown a little sharper, along with her face, and her smile was still the same as all those years ago. She had a similar black jacket to Fate with a reddish brown leather chestplate that showed her lower midriff. She also had a reddish brown belt with a pentagram pin. She also wore black pants and shoes, along with silver gauntlets, similar to Fate’s, a staple of the position of High Prosecutor. As the apprentice was using the Sin Machine to punish sinners, Fate put both of her hands together to amplify her voice.
“Oi! Get down here! There’s someone you need to meet!” The apprentice looked away from her work to look at her teacher and gave her a thumbs up while giving her a large grin. Lucifer’s heart skipped a beat.
That smile, that damn smile.
It really was her.
The apprentice rushed up to the both of them and saluted them, though she looked in shock and awe at Lucifer’s presence. Fate stood in front of her apprentice and presented them.
“Lucifer, Ma’am, allow me to present my apprentice, J-”
“Justice.” Both of them looked at Lucifer in surprise, not expecting her to know, or remember the apprentice’s name.
“It looks like you're following your dreams, Justice.” Justice lowered her raised arm.
“Y-You remember my name?” Justice was surprised that a person as powerful as Lucifer would remember a simple child’s name. It almost made her tear up, but she couldn’t do that, she had to keep her cool.
“Of course I remember you, it’s hard to forget someone as outgoing as you, especially with that declaration you made to me.” Lucifer put a finger on her chin as she smiled slyly. “Now what was that declaration again?”
“T-To become The Awesome Demon and to protect you from harm!” Lucifer chuckled at the declaration.
“Yes, to protect me from harm. I will count on you to do just that, okay?” Justice smiled again, that cool smile that seemed to grab Lucifer’s attention every time it showed. She saluted her ruler and looked back at her teacher.
“High Prosecutor, may I return to my duties, Ma’am?” Fate nodded.
“Since you are already acquainted with her, you may go.” Justice nodded and turned to leave, but looked back at the two demons, specifically at Lucifer.
“See you later, Lucy!” Before Lucifer could correct her, she was already long gone, on her way back to the Sin Machine. Fate, angered at Justice’s clear lack of respect towards their ruler, bowed to Lucifer.
“Forgive me Ma’am, I’ll teach Justice a lesson, and make sure-”
“No. It’s quite alright.” Fate looked up in shock at her lady. Unsure why she would just let this disrespect just happen. Lucifer, on the other hand, was simply looking at Justice as she arrived back at her workstation, a smile planted on her face. “You sure know how to pick them, Fate. She is a natural at this.” Fate was still confused, but ignored it to respond to her lady.
“She will make a fine High Prosecutor for you, I promise you that.”
“I can see that, and I believe she will do great things for Hell.”
Since that day, Lucifer made sure to keep tabs on the young devotee, seeing how she handled her job and training for the position of High Prosecutor. Fate made sure to report on Justice’s progress as she continued her training. Most of the reports that involved Justice were good, as she seemed to be a natural at this job. Years passed though, and the time had come for Fate to step down as High Prosecutor and for the next one to be announced. While the populace of Hell will be told of the new High Prosecutor within the next few days, the actual ceremony was more private than what people would believe, simply taking place within Lucifer’s palace. When Justice arrived at the door to Lucifer’s office, wearing her High Prosecutor uniform, the doors were opened by two burly Bone Guards. The Bone Guards were protectors of Hell that battle those who disrupt the flow of Hell, or in the rare case, repel intruders who threaten Hell. For these demons though, they were simply honor guards to Lucifer, and when Justice entered the office, she saw a line of twelve Bone Guards, six on each size, and at the end of the room was Fate, standing in front of the desk of Lucifer. Looking to her left, she saw Beelzebub, the Lord of Flies, standing with a dangerous smirk on her face. On the other side, she saw a woman with long white hair, black ram horns, red goat eyes, and white goat ears. She wore a red dress shirt that parted in the middle, showing her bountiful breasts, black dress pants, and heels. She was smiling in a sort of motherly way, though Justice could tell that there was something behind that smile. This was Baphomet, The Lord of Goats, and the youngest of Lucifer’s inner circle. And then, sitting on the chair behind the desk, was none other than Lucifer herself, with a caring smile on her face, happy with what was about to happen. As Justice stopped in front of Lucifer’s desk, Fate stepped up in front of her, with a small case in her hand.
“Justice.” The High Prosecutor began. “When you came to me on that fateful day, I wasn’t sure what to expect of you. A simple demon with a dream to protect someone dear to you and to become The Awesome Demon. However, you proved time and time again that you could do the job of High Prosecutor and to do it in a way I never thought possible. So, with what you have proven to me and to all of the demons in this room that you are reliable, ready, and able to do the job efficiently and without trouble. As such, I can safely leave Hell’s protection, and the punishment of sinners to you, Justice.” Fate opened the box and revealed what she was holding.
Her armband, the symbol of the High Prosecutor.
Justice’s eyes widened. She did assume that this was the ceremony for her promotion, but it still surprised her that it was happening. She slowly reached out and grasped the armband, holding it as if it was a sacred treasure.
“Go ahead. Put it on.” Justice did as Fate commanded, and put on the armband on her left arm. It was as if she had placed a badge on herself, and that now she had a responsibility, which she in fact had now. Lucifer then stood up, and raised her wine glass, with the other people in the room grabbing a wine glass themselves and raising it as well.
“Congratulations Justice, High Prosecutor of Hell! May you punish those who come your way, and protect the nine circles of Hell!” Justice nearly tore up at the display in front of her, tears starting to form in her crimson eyes. However, not to make a fool of herself, she quickly wiped the tears away and smirked at the three demons, giving them a thumbs up.
“I promise to do my best for the denizens of Hell and its C.E.O. To protect them from anything that would try to harm them, and to punish those who have committed sin!” Everyone in the room, the demons and the guards began to clap for Justice, ready for the new High Prosecutor to make them proud. After some celebration and congratulations, most of the various denizens of the room left and most of the guards were filling out, there were three people left. They were Justice, Lucifer, and Beelzebub.
“Well, as much as I would love to talk more, like Baphomat, I have duties to attend to. So, High Prosecutor.” Beelzebub looked at Justice with a fierce look and a smile on her face, as if a tiger observed her prey. She brought out a hand. Justice returned the favor, sharpening her eyes as she smiled coolly and grasped Beelzebub’s hand tightly, who returned the favor. “I bid the farewell, and success for your future.”
“And I wish you a safe journey home, Lord of Flies.” Beelzebub chuckled.
“Trust me,” Beelzebub walked past Justice and paused right before the door. She turned back to look at Justice, her eyes seemingly glowing at her. “There is nothing in Hell that could stop me.” Justice looked at the Lord of Flies as she finally left the room. That tone of voice, those words she spoke.
This made her worried.
However, Justice looked back at the only remaining person in the room.
“Justice.” Lucifer called out. Justice looked at her, and saw a small smile on her boss’ face. “I’m proud of you.”
“Huh?” Justice was surprised at this declaration.
“You told me years ago that you would become The Awesome Demon and use your powers to protect me. To that end, you trained yourself to become a protector of Hell, and a punisher of sinners in order to fulfill your dream. And now here you are, standing in front of me, with your dreams now a reality. I can honestly say that I have never met another demon quite like you Justice.” Lucifer finished off her glass of wine, setting it down on her desk. She walked forward and grasped Justice’s shoulder, who gasped at the touch. “So believe me, when I say that I’m proud of you, and I am excited for the future.” Justice looked like she was about to cry, not believing what Lucifer was saying. In all honesty, she was still having a hard time believing any of this was real.
“I-”
“That being said,” Lucifer interrupted. “I have a present for you.” Lucifer removed her hand from Justice’s shoulder and turned around, grabbing something off her desk. She turned around and in her hand was a flat, silver white box with a red lid. She then took off the lid and revealed something that made Justice’s crimson eyes widened. “Go ahead, take them, they're yours.” Justice barely breathed as she grasped the box and picked up one of the objects in the box. These objects were red fingerless gloves with the letters ‘HPJ’ engraved on a silver plate at the wrists of the gloves. The young demon stared at the object in her hand for a moment, and then began to chuckle, her eyes closed as she began to laugh. Lucifer wasn’t sure what to think of this, until Justice said three words.
“I love them!” As Justice continued to laugh, Lucifer smiled, happy that the young demon loved her gift. “Thank you so much! I promise to do my very best for Hell and for you!” Lucifer nodded at the declaration.
“See that you do.” Justice began to put on her gloves, and they fit perfectly. Justice looked at the gloves as she clenched and unclenched her fists, and punched the air a few times.
They were perfect.
“Gosh I could kiss you.” Justice said, not remembering who was in the room. Lucifer blushed.
“J-Justice?!”
“Oh! Sorry! Just ignore me!” Justice chuckled at her antics. Lucifer’s blush subsided a little, but stayed on her face. “Am I to be dismissed?” Now it was the C.E.O’s chance to chuckle.
“Very well, since it is a ceremonious day, I’ll let you have the rest of the day off.”
“Sweet! I’ll see you tomorrow then!” Lucifer nodded and Justice turned around and began to leave. She had just opened the door when Lucifer called out.
“Justice!” The demon turned around. “Remember, I have high expectations of you with your new position as High Prosecutor. Do not disappoint me.” Justice began to grin.
“Of course Lucy.” She brought something out of her pocket, and flicked it, revealing them to be sunglasses. “If I were to disappoint you,” She brought her sunglasses to her face and turned a little for Lucifer to see one of the lenses, a glint shining on the lens. “I wouldn’t be called The Awesome Demon, wouldn’t I?” Lucifer simply smiled.
She also didn’t correct Justice as she left the room.
Many years passed, and Justice had become one of the most efficient High prosecutors in the history of Hell, surpassing even that of Fate, her predecessor. She had punished sinners at an alarming rate, made sure that peace was kept throughout hell, and even put down a rebellion led by a minor demon lord. Yes, these years have been great for Justice, and she had become one of Lucifer’s most trusted confidants. Right now though, she was walking through the Wastes of Gluttony. With her work done for the day, Justice decided to take a walk around Hell, and ended up on the third ring. Despite it being the third ring of Hell, this is where the Gates of Hell were, where the soul was judged to either enter the rest of Hell, or suffer at the hands of the Sin Machine. And guarding these great gates, was a creature of monstrous strength, cruelty, and corruption.
“Justice!”
“Justice is here!”
“Yay! Justice has arrived!” Cerberus, the Triple Demon, and Guardian of the Gates. The name of the Triple Demon was given because Cerberus was a demon with one soul in three separate bodies. Cerberus has pale skin, red eyes, and white hair like any other demon, along with some canine-like teeth. Her hair was long, which parted at the fringe of her forehead and was tied together at the end of her hair, making it like a tail. She wore a button-up red dress shirt with long sleeves, a black suit vest, and black pants. She has black cuffs under her shoulders and black gloves. She also had an arrow tipped tail, as all demons have, but she had something unique to her. Unlike other demons, Cerberus’ three bodies had fluffy dog ears in place of the horns adorning most other demons in hell. The three demon bodies rushed over to Justice as she waved to them.
“Yo! Wazzup Cerberus?” The Triple Demon’s tail swayed from side to side as she went and hugged the Awesome Demon. The three bodies looked up with a huge smile on their face.
“I took a nap!”
“I solved a puzzle!”
“I ate a sinner who started to run!” The other bodies and Justice looked at the last body with a deadpan expression. Justice’s expression then changed to a large smile, and rubbed her hand on Cerberus' head, the other bodies feeling the same effects of the head rub, leaning into Justice more.
“You’ve done good Cerberus, well done.” This comment made Cerberus happy with herself.
“Thank you!”
“Thanks!”
“You’re too kind!”
“Ah it’s nothing, you’re living your best life and you’re doing a great job while doing it! I know Lucy will be happy once I get back down to her palace.” The Triple Demon backed away, though smiles still settled on her face. “So, anything else to report?”
“Pandemonica just returned to the first ring to the HQ of Hell’s Customer Service!” Ah yes, Pandemonica, Lucifer’s secretary, a professional yet tired demon who would become a sadistic demon once she had a good cup of coffee. She was also head of Hell’s Customer Service. What they did, Justice wasn’t entirely sure. Justice liked her, she was professional and worked hard. Though there were times that she felt Pandemonica could chill and not be so professional all the time, maybe let loose a little. “Modeus has been locked away again for taking off the kneecaps of a soul so she could do… terrible things to them.” Ah Modeus, the Lustful Demon, a name earned by her insatiable lust that no one had been able to satisfy. While she loved sex, she can also be super cleigny at times, and those times include her grabbing a mallet, and breaking someone’s legs so they didn’t run.
It was a huge problem she had.
“And last but-” Before the final body of Cerberus could say anything, she paused. Justice and the other two bodies looked at her questioningly until the other two bodies sniffed the air and their pupils dialated. “Blood.” Justice’s eyes widened behind her shades.
“Show me.” Cerberus charged to where the scent was coming from, with Justice quickly following on. They kept moving forward, jumping on various rocks and foundations until Cerberus turned right to a crevice. Soon, after going through the crevice, they found themselves in a cave. Justice got snagged on something, but Cerberus kept going deeper into the cave. “Hey! Hold on!” They did not listen, and went deeper. After a moment, Justice finally got through the crevice and went into the cave, following where Cerberus went. Once she caught up to Cerberus, what she saw shocked her.
In front of Cerberus’ bodies, who was growling, was a young woman with charcoal skin, long white hair, ruffled and dirtied from travel, and glowing silver eyes. The only thing she wore was a beige cloak that covered most of her body, though it was ripped in several places and did nothing to cover her legs and bare feet. However, one thing from this young woman interested her more than anything.
Horns, shorter, but still incredibly similar to Lucifer.
“P-Please-”
“INTRUDER!”
“RETURN FROM WHERE YOU CAME!”
“OR BE EATEN BY THE GUARDIAN OF THE GATE!”
“Cerberus! Down!” The Triple Demon and young woman looked at Justice in shock. The body in the center protested.
“Justice!”
“That’s enough, now clear a path.” With reluctance, Cerberus did. While Cerberus guarded the Gates to Hell, this did not mean that she was above the one who punished the sinners of Hell, the High Prosecutor. Justice walked to the whimpering woman, who had her face down in her cloak.
“P-Please don’t.”
“Shhhh. Shhh. Shh. Hey, it’s ok, I’m not gonna hurt you.” The woman slowly looked up to see Justice. She stared for a moment at the Awesome Demon, who had begun to smirk. “There we go! See, I told you I wouldn’t-” Before she could say anything else, the woman charged at Justice. Cerberus moved to intercept her, but before they could, the woman had grabbed Justice, hugging her.
“P-Please help.” Justice was unsure of what to do, but when she felt tears come from the woman, she embraced her.
“I promise, I will.” This was something demons did not do. They did not make promises to help anyone. But that was why she was the Awesome Demon, because sometimes, rules needed to be broken. She looked down at the woman, and when she got a closer look at the horns on her head, something in her mind clicked. “By Lucy’s name, you’re-”
“A FALLEN ANGEL!” Leaving Cerberus at the gates and saying her goodbyes, went back down to the City of Dis, and into Dis General Hospital, a surprising feature of Hell, but even demons needed healthcare. Justice got the woman a room and privately called Lucifer, who came as soon as she could, along with Beelzebub, who was with her at the time. When she saw the woman, Lucifer was furious, while Beelzebub was intrigued at the development.
“And not only that Lucy,” Beelzebub said with a sly tone. “But she appears to also be the same type of angel that helped cast you down.”
“A seraph.” Lucifer said in a dark tone. While archangels like Micheal were in charge of the angels, they were not the elite. That honor went to the Seraphim, who were the most powerful of angels, with undying loyalty to Heaven.
“The real question though was how a seraph managed to fall. I can’t wait to find out.” Beelzebub licked her lips, thoughts invading her mind on how she would find out how this angel fell. Justice frowned at this. Rarely does anything make her frown or angry, but this did.
“We’ll find out what happened, but it will take time.” Beelzebub’s eyebrow lifted up.
“What do you mean time? Let’s just torture the poor thing and be done with this.”
“Hell no! I’m not letting you get your grubby little hands on her. Pun fully intended.”
“Why you-”
“Enough.” Justice and Beelzebub looked to Lucifer, who was staring at the Fallen Angel sitting on the bed.
“Come on Lucy. You’ve gotta help, she’s like you, a-”
“A fallen angel?” Justice slowly nodded. “She’s not just a fallen angel, Justice. She’s a seraph, the elite of the elite of Heaven. They are the strongest of the angels and they were the ones who cast me down on the orders of Micheal, that bitch.” Justice flinched when Lucifer said ‘bitch.’ “After everything that has happened, I refuse to help a Seraph.”
“I’m sorry that happened to you.” The three women looked over to the Fallen Angel. “Please understand though, I was not there when you fell. I’m not one of the Angels that cast you down.” She sighed. “If you wish though, I will not bother you. I will leave Hell.” Justice looked down in sadness as she felt she couldn’t do anything to help this woman she promised to help. The woman got up and began to walk to the door, passing the women. Before she could continue to the door though, a hand was placed on her shoulder. She turned to see Justice put a hand on her shoulder.
“Tell me, what’s your name?” The woman cocked her head.
“I do not have one, Seraphim are not given names.”
“Then we will find you a name,” Justice looked up, a shine sparkling at the corner of her shades and a teeth showing grin on her face, staring directly at Lucifer. “My apprentice.” The three women gasped at Justice’s declaration.
“Wha-!!!”
“Justice?!”
“You can’t be serious?!” Beelzebub turned to a shocked Lucifer. “Lucy, you know that Justice can’t take an apprentice! It’s too soon!”
“I know it’s too soon!” Justice said, “But I still got years before I need to retire. And if I train someone for that long, then my successor will be even better than me!”
“Su-Successor?!” Justice turned to the Seraph.
“That’s right, you're about to become the apprentice of the High Prosecutor of Hell, who punishes sinners with the Sin Machine!” Justice explains. “And if you accept, you too will cast judgement on all sinners!” Then something clicked within Justice's mind, and her grin widened. She turned to Lucifer. “Of course, I will only do this with your permission, Lucy.” Lucifer did not like this situation, a fallen angel in Hell, and a seraph no less. Justice, taking said seraph as an apprentice even though she is clearly not supposed to do that yet. Any other person who would have dared to do this, even Fate, would have been severely punished.
But she couldn’t stay mad at Justice, she never could.
“Do you think you could take care of her and teach her what she needs to know?” Lucifer sighed. Justice nodded.
“I swear.” Lucifer sighed again, but she smiled at Justice.
“Alright, but I expect big things from her in the future.” Justice quickly glomped Lucifer, who blushed at the contact.
“Thank you Lucy! You’re the best!”
“J-Just don’t fail me! Now get off me!” Justice let go. “Now, I need to head back to the palace to fill out some paperwork.” She looked over to Beelzebub, who had a shocked expression stuck on her face. “I’ll see you there Beel.” Lucifer then left the room. It took her a few moments, but Beelzebub recovered from her shock and glared at Justice.
“Just because you were able to get a pet doesn’t mean anything.” Justice frowned. “I will see you later, High Prosecutor.” Beelzebub slinked out of the room, leaving only Justice and the woman. The woman looked back over to Justice after staring at the leaving demons. Justice had her trademark grin and a hand held out for her.
“So, what do you say, Judgement?” Her eyes widened as tears began to flow down her cheeks. She grasped the hand with a tearful smile.
“I accept.” Judgement, that is who she was. That was her name.
Judgement.
The room was dark, as well as Hell. Over five years had passed since Justice had taken the fallen angel, now named Judgement, as an apprentice, much to the aire of Lucifer. She never liked that decision, especially since Judgement had been a seraph; who, while they did not give her sentence, did assist in forcing her down to hell. She trusted Justice however. Almost nothing deterred that smile of hers, and Lucifer found her attitude charming. In fact, Justice made her feel things she hadn’t felt for a long time. She enjoyed watching her do her job, interact with other demons, and even their talks together were the highlight of the day for her. It made her days brighter than the River Styx.
However, things had changed after five years.
Hell itself had grown darker than usual, political intrigue and dark deals plagued most of her days. Her own friend, Beelzebub, had grown distant and secretive.
Hungry, even.
She worked tirelessly day and night to make sure that her power was not lost, but struggled to do that as Dis was plagued with unrest, and minor lords kept rising to try and take her down, only to fail and fall to her or her High Prosecutor. This kept happening, and it slowly drained her of energy and of her own power until it happened.
Two days ago, Beelzebub rebelled.
Her friend, her loyal confidant since she had fallen from Heaven, a lover at times as well, had betrayed her. For what end, Lucifer did not know, but she did know one thing.
Beelzebub was on her way to her palace.
She could hear the blasts below her near the entrance as palace guards did their best to defend the home of the C.E.O of Hell. As the blasts got louder, and the screams of the Bone Guards became louder, she began to tremble, though not enough for the naked eye to see from far away, but she could feel it. She could feel Beelzebub’s power and was afraid.
She hadn’t been afraid like this since her banishment from Heaven.
More blasts, more screams, the sound of flies in the air.
She’s here. The doors blasted open, and the two guards within her chamber rushed to the defense, but were quickly swept aside by a hive of flies, forcing them away from the door. She stared at the door to see Beelzebub in all of her glory, flies swarming around her, eyes glowing a dark crimson, and a wicked smile on her face.
“Tsk tsk tsk. Lucy Lucy Lucy. You must realize that Bone Guards do nothing against me.” She raised her fist in front of her and clenched it. “Especially after the power I’ve gained over the years.” Lucifer’s eyes narrowed.
“Beelzebub.” The demon’s smile grew even larger as she walked towards the desk. “After all these years. After everything we have done for each other, you decide to betray me.”
“Lucy, my dear.” Beelzebub places herself on the desk, leaning into Lucifer’s face, inches away. “I have been planning this for years.” Lucifer’s eyes widened. Years?! What did she mean? How many? How long?
Since the beginning?
“H-How long?” Beelzebub simply leaned into her ear and whispered a name.
“Mephistopheles.” Lucifer’s eyes widened. Mephistopheles, that arsonist bastard, had rebelled shortly after Justice had been made High Prosecutor. Sensing a shift in the power dynamic, he rose in rebellion and tried to make Hell his domain, only to be defeated by the new High Prosecutor. If she had planned this since that day. Lucifer’s eyes widened.
“It’s been you. Every rebellion, every plot, everything that has gone wrong for so long. You’re the one who was behind it all.”
“Guilty as charged.”
“Why?”
“Isn’t it not simple. I saw that you were weak. I saw how Justice made you feel and how it made you…kinder.” Lucifer stiffened at Justice’s name. “I saw how you began to care for her, more than any other demon. And the fact you let her get her way with the seraph. That simply cemented my duty to depose you.” Lucifer couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
“No, you have been with me since the beginning, since I fell to this accursed place. There must be some other ulterior motive.”
“Or it could be simply jealousy, that you were C.E.O and I became your lap dog. I never wanted to be a lap dog, I wanted to rule. However, I like you Lucy, so I let you rule, but now, it’s time for you to be deposed.” Lucifer’s eyes narrowed.
“If you think I will surrender that easily, I have bad news for you.” Suddenly, Lucifer’s right arm powered up with red energy, and struck at Beelzebub, only for Beelzebub to grab her hand, without looking away from Lucifer’s eyes.
“Oh, Lucy. You may have been the strongest demon in Hell.” The Lord of Flies’ eyes began to glow crimson. “But I’ve become even stronger.” Beelzebub raised her hand up in a clenched fist and brought it to Lucifer’s face.
She immediately blacked out.
“Hey, looking good Judgement!” In another part of Hell, Justice was punishing sinners in the Sin Machine. She had been working for most of the day and had decided to take a break. When she went out to get lunch, she had found her apprentice, Judgement. She wore a black suit jacket, with the top buttons opened to reveal her large breasts, as well as black dress pants with high heels. Overall, it was basic for a demon, but for Judgement, it was good enough. Judgement blushed at the compliment. Even after five years, she couldn’t handle Justice’s charisma.
“Thank you, teacher.” Judgement said in a soft tone.
“Hey, what’s got you so nervous?” Justice asked. Judgement looked away.
“I-It’s nothing, don’t worry-” Justice put a hand on Judgement’s shoulder.
“Hey, it’s all good. You still worried about being High Prosecutor some day?” Judgement’s eyes fell to the ground, but she nodded. “That’s ok. I was nervous too. Being responsible for the punishment of sinners is not an easy job. However, after these past five years, I know you’ll be a great High Prosecutor. Though I must say, I think the only thing that needs work is your nervousness.” Judgement looked up at Justice. “I know that you being nervous might not change for a while, but we can probably fix that in some form.”
“How?”
“Easy, you pretend that you’re not scared and not nervous. It’s not the best solution, but it might help for the time being.” Judgement smiled at Justice, and nodded.
“Ok, I’ll try that.” Justice grinned and gave a thumbs up.
“That’s the spirit! Now, let’s head over back to the Sin Machine and get you some more pra-” As Justice spoke, the sound of thunder erupted in the air and an explosion occurred. Both demons looked over to where the sound of the explosion originated. At Lucifer’s Palace, smoke originated from a broken window, flames slowly building up. Both demons saw this and Judgement turned to Justice.
“We have to get help and get to the palace!” Justice nodded. However, she realized something. A small shadow, with an entity following it, appeared from the destroyed window. Justice’s eyes widened.
“Judgement, go get help and help those in the palace!” Justice began to run to where the shadow went.
“Wait? What about you?!” Justice turned back and smiled.
“I’ve got a demon to rescue.” Justice then began running. On the outside, she may have been grinning, but on the inside, she had never been more scared.
Because Lucifer, her Lucy, was in trouble.
Lucifer opened her eyes slowly. She looked around at the red rocks surrounding her, nothing but flat lands and ruins surrounded her. Her body ached as she recovered, though she still felt pain from the injury sustained from Beelzebub.
Speaking of Beelzebub.
Lucifer saw a swarm of flies float down to her location, with Beelzebub appearing from it and stepping down to the ground, with that damned smirk on her face.
“You survived, as expected of you.” Lucifer chuckled at the comment.
“You don’t become C.E.O of Hell by dying after one hit.” Beelzebub also chuckled at that comment as well. Before Beelzebub could say anything, Lucifer launched herself at the Lord of Flies, a fist full of red fire landing on the Lord, though the fist was blocked by Beelzebub’s arms interlocking in front of her face. Beelzebub lifted her arms and reposed the attack, striking back at Lucifer. Lucifer in turn dodged the attacks as fast as she could. She also parries the attacks as well, sending the strikes away from her body. After multiple strikes, Lucifer powers up a power attack, red energy flowing to her hand. She gains some distance from Beelzebub and fires off a large blast of red energy at Beelzebub. The Lord of Flies follows in kind with her own energy blast from her hand, however hers was in the color of dark green. The blasts finally connected and a struggle for supremacy ensured. Who would win? The Lord of Disease and Pestilence or the Lord of Hell.
“You say you have gained a lot of power, but where has that led you now?!” Lucifer’s beam started to gain ground, slowly but surely overtaking Beelzebub. The Lord of Hell started to grin, knowing that her victory in the beam struggle was imminent. The Lord of Flies simply kept smiling. “I trusted you for so long, Beelzebub, and you just decided to throw it away!” The beam was now just in front of Beelzebub’s face, red almost overtaking dark green. “I won’t forgive you Beelzebub! You’ve betrayed my trust, and I’ll make sure you are punished severely! You took a gamble and it will not pay off!”
“My dear Lucy, you know as well as I do that I do not gamble.” Beelzebub slowly brought her other hand next to the one firing the beam. Her free hand began to glow a dark and misty purple. “If I do anything, I know I will win.” The glow began to power up, and fire, a purple beam shooting into the red one, mixing with the dark green. It began to quickly overpower Lucifer’s attack, her eyes widened.
“WHAT! IMPOSSIBLE! THAT’S-” She could not finish her thoughts, as Beelzebub’s beam took over hers and began to shoot her. It burnt flesh and tore clothes as she screamed in pain. She started to float back, the power of the beam forcing her to fly back. Gravity pulled her downwards as she spun on the ground like a ragdoll as she crashed and burned on the red ground below her until she reached the edge of a cliff. She landed face first on the cliff’s edge. She could hardly move, struggling to move her body. She heard footsteps approach her. She knew whose steps it was, and kept her eyes shut. Beelzebub knelt in front of Lucifer and brought her head up with her finger and thumb grasping Lucifer’s chin.
“Ah, my dear Lucy. I have enjoyed our bout and our time together.” Beelzebub raised her hand, purple energy forming in her hand. “However, it is time for me to claim MY THRONE !” Lucifer kept her eyes closed, she hadn’t felt like this since she was banished from Heaven. She felt weak, alone, betrayed.
Terrified.
She didn’t know how Beelzebub gained this power, but Lucifer couldn’t deny it, the Lord of Flies was stronger than her, and there was nothing she could do, but accept her fate. Until she felt something shift. She opened her eyes to see something amazing.
Beelzebub, getting punched in the face, but Justice, the High Prosecutor.
Beelzebub flew far away after getting punched, showing that Justice did not hold back on the hit. Lucifer slowly dropped to the ground, but was caught by Justice. Lucifer looked up at the shades staring at her, a frown on her face.
“I’m sorry I took too long.” Lucifer’s eyes widened, but her expression softened and she smiled.
“At least you came, my High Prosecutor.” Justice smiled.
“I always will.” The two stared at each other, as if they were the only beings in Hell.
This wasn’t the case though.
A roar of anger and frustration came afar. Justice and Lucifer looked to see Beelzebub, angerier ever, green and purple energy pouring out from her, the calm demeanor gone. Justice slowly brought Lucifer down to the ground. Lucifer, scared, knew exactly what she was planning, and did not want her to do it.
“Justice, don’t fight her, she’s too powerful!” Justice smirked.
“Maybe, but right now, she’s super angry and not thinking right, I have that advantage.”
Justice started to walk towards Beelzebub. “Don’t worry, I’ll put down this rebellion, and I’ll protect you.” Lucifer could do nothing but watch Justice walk towards the Lord of Flies. So instead, she hoped and prayed Justice would succeed.
Justice walked to Beelzebub in a calm manner, her fists clenched, ready to fight. Beelzebub, however, was livid right now.
“How dare you interrupt my moment of triumph! So many years of planning, and you ruined the glorious image of my ascension!” Justice didn’t say anything, simply stopping in front of Beelzebub, lifting her fists up in a boxer’s stance. “Nothing to say? Well, I have plenty to say. I’ve always hated you Justice. Always grinning, always meddling, always having that bright attitude! Taking in that Seraph when clearly the best thing to do was to banish it or destroy-”
“Shut up.” Beelzebub froze. “You hurt Lucy, after everything you did with her, and you betrayed her. You will be punished for your sins, Beelzebub.” Beelzebub’s eyes began to twitch.
“You call her Lucy. You always call her Lucy! YOU NEVER DESERVED TO CALL HER THAT!”
“And you lost that privilege.” Beelzebub roared in anger and leapt towards Justice. She began to throw furious punches and swipes at the High Prosecutor, who simply dodged them, anticipating the wild attacks. She then returned the attacks in kind, getting a few hits on the Lord, small bruises now forming on Beelzebub’s face. Beelzebub then returned the attack, and successfully got a few hits on Justice, with a powerful kick forcing Justice back a few meters. Justice quickly recovered and saw that Beelzebub leapt into the air, powering up her beam attacks, and shot them out at Justice. The High Prosecutor dodged the blasts, and started to run, circling Beelzebub as she shot out beams of dark green and purple energy. She kept running until one lucky hit finally claimed her, causing her to fall to the ground in pain. Blood began to trickle down from a wound on her forehead. Justice began to get up when she looked up, and saw that Beelzebub was on top of her, grabbing her jacket and pulling her up, only to begin punching her. A punch to the face, breaking skin. A punch to the gut, taking her breath away. This kept happening until Justice finally had enough and punched Beelzebub in the throat. Beelzebub grasped her throat as Justice began her onslaught on Beelzebub, punching her repeatedly, blood oozing from the wounds she received from Justice. This continued until Justice did one final punch that sent the Lord of Flies away from her, landing on her back. Both demons breathed heavily as they attempted to recover their strength, blood pouring from their various wounds, and clothes torn from the damage they received. They kept panting until Beelzebub suddenly started laughing. Justice looked surprised, unsure of what to make of the laughing demon. Beelzebub slowly got up from her prone position. She faced Justice with a calm smirk, her calm demeanor returning.
“That was an incredible bout, Justice. If there is anything you are, you are a good fighter. You even made me lose my cool, a rare thing indeed.” Justice’s crimson eyes widened as she sensed something happening to Beelzebub. “I wanted to use this form to fight against Lucy, but that was before I got my new power. However, you will now have the honor of seeing my most powerful form.” Before Justice could say anything, Beelzebub began to transform. Her skin became a hellish red, her white hair grew out, her shoulders grew out with four more arms growing above her existing arms. Her eyes began to bulge out, transforming into the eyes of a fly. Her body began to expand, her jaw dislocating and split down the middle, four wings protruding from her back, and gloved hands changing into sharp claws. Her hair became a large white mane and warts began to cover her insectoid body.
Once the transformation ended, a deep, and grotesque laugh erupted from the transformed demon.
“I don’t like using this form, and I was planning on using it against Lucy if my other powers didn’t work. But instead, you will be graced by my most powerful form!” Justice grimaced at the sight of Beelzebub, who was now in their most powerful form. This power, mixed with the strange purple energy that has assisted her this entire time, made Justice sweat. She wasn’t sure if she could actually beat Beelzebub.
But she was going to damn well try.
“You are right, that is your most powerful form.” Justice returned to her boxer stance. “However, that isn’t gonna stop me from kicking your ass!” Beelzebub chuckled.
“We’ll see about that.” Justice rushed forward, going as fast as she could. Beelzebub powered up various beams of green and purple, firing upon Justice. Justice managed to dodge them, though the aftermath would leave herself more and more scraped up. She finally reached Beelzebub and began to punch the Lord of Flies with fury of blows in various areas. Beelzebub tried to swipe where Justice was, but the High Prosecutor kept dodging every blow.
“I thought you were supposed to be powerful.”
“Hehe, YOU UTTER FOOL!” As Justice was gliding down to the ground from punching Beelzebub in the face, a flood of flies began to appear behind the demon lord, going straight to Justice.
“OH SHIT!” Justice brought her arms up to defend herself as the flood engulfed her. The flies managed to bite off pieces of her skin, leaving bloody marks all over her vulnerable flesh. Suddenly, the flies began to retreat away, so Justice lowered her guard for a second, only for a large, insectoid fist to crash into her. The force of the impact forced her to crash into a bunch of rocks. Beelzebub then powered up four beams of green and purple, firing at her and the surrounding area. Fire began to erupt from where the blasts hit. Lucifer could only watch in horror as her protector seemed to die. Not only that, but the flames seemed to be getting closer to her as well. With the last of her energy not sapped by Beelzebub, she teleported to where Justice might be. When she teleported, she couldn’t even stand, too exhausted to.
“JUSTICE!” Lucifer cried out. She heard a deep laughter coming from behind her. She saw the traitor Beelzebub, and the flames that separated them.
“Now that you have seen your great protector fall. You now have my permission to die.” Lucifer couldn’t do anything as a beam of energy, a simple sickly green one, powered up. Lucifer simply closed her eyes, thinking of only Justice, and maybe what could have been. She heard the blast fire towards her direction, and even with her eyes closed, she could still see the light of the blast get brighter and brighter. She shut her eyes even tighter, not ready for the inevitable. However, the beam then suddenly vanished, and the sound of rock crashing and burning erupted in front of her. There was a moment of silence as Lucifer refused to look.
“WHY WON’T YOU DIE!” That anger from Beelzebub made Lucifer open her eyes in surprise, and what she said surprised her.
A battered and bruised Justice, her back to her, standing defiantly against the towering Beelzebub.
It was something out of myth.
“JUSTICE!” Lucifer cried out in joy. Justice did not respond. “Listen Justice, I only need a moment to recharge my power. Once that happens, we can beat her together.”
“Lucifer.” Her eyes widened. What did Justice just call her?
She never calls her that.
“I don’t have the power to beat Beelzebub. She’s too strong.” Justice then began to do a subtle motion, moving her hands to her glasses. “And don’t lie to me, I know that what you just said was a lie. That dark energy Beelzebub had sapped your strength.” She took off her glasses, now folded in her hand. She turned to Lucifer, her crimson eyes staring into the Lord of Hell’s. Justice took a moment to take all of Lucifer in, to remember every feature of hers. From the large ancient horns on her head, her charcoal suit, her own crimson eyes, and even to her small mole under her eye. Justice smiled with a smile Lucifer had never seen before. Justice turned and walked to Lucifer.
“DON’T YOU TURN AROUND YOU TRASH!” Justice ignored Beelzebub and continued to walk to Lucifer. Once she got to the demon, she knelt down in front of Lucifer. Justice grasped Lucifer’s hand and placed her glasses in the hand, closing it so that Lucifer would clutch it.
“Hold on to those for me, ok.” Tears started to flow down the C.E.O’s eyes.
“Justice? Justice, what are you doing?!” Justice turned from Lucifer and started to walk back to the Lord of Flies.
“I can’t defeat her. But I can stop her.”
“How?!” Justice didn’t say anything, simply walking towards the behemoth. In her mind, she remembered one of the lessons Fate talked about. It was how a great evil, worse than hell itself, tried to rise from the Pits of Tartarus to swallow Hell whole. However, thanks to the High Prosecutor at the time, Hierophant, that evil was sent to the abyss, using an unknown technique. However, the cost of sealing the evil was great, as Hierophant had disappeared. Lucifer tried to look, but found nothing. Their successor found the notes that Hierophant left behind, detailing how to use the technique, but not its effects.
Whatever the effects are, are only known to Hierophant alone.
The successor had made sure that every High Prosecutor knew of the technique as a last resort, and through the thousands of years, no High Prosecutor has needed to use this forbidden technique.
Until today.
Justice had stopped in front of the behemoth in front of her. Beelzebub simply looked down and began charging six beams, three a sickly green, three a dark purple. Justice brought up two fingers and began to move them in a specific movement, like a conductor conducting an orchestra.
Down.
Up.
Right.
“This is the end of the line for you, Justice!” The beams kept charging. Justice did not respond.
Up.
Left.
Down.
Down.
“Now do me a favor, AND DIE!” Beelzebub then fired all of their beams towards Justice, intent on incinerating The Awesome Demon.
Left.
Up.
Down.
Right.
Up.
The energy beams had then reached Justice’s location, blasting the area, and covering it with smoke and rubble. Lucifer could not speak as she saw the beams hit their mark. Beelzebub’s mandibles moved to what could closely be described as a grin, because with this, the High Prosecutor of Hell was-
“HEY!”
“WHAT?!” Both demons looked up to see Justice floating in the air. She had taken some damage from the blast; her usual band that tied her ponytail was now gone, leaving it flowing in the wind and blood was flowing from the various cuts from her body and even from her lips, leaving a trail to her chin. However, though she was damaged, Justice did seem more powerful, as her eyes had changed, as a silver flame had enveloped her eyes, showing no iris or pupils.
“IT’S OVER BEELZEBUB! YOU’RE FINISHED! ABYSSAL CONTAINMENT!” Behind Beelzebub, a massive dark portal appeared. It began to start to suck Beelzebub into it, but Beelzebub would not go quietly. Beelzebub stuck their clawed appendages into the ground, allowing them to properly hold themselves in place as the area around them gets sucked into the portal.
“I WILL NOT BE STOPPED SO EASILY! I AM THE LORD OF FLIES! OF DISEASE AND PESTILENCE! I WILL HOLD OUT UNTIL THE PORTAL IS CLOSED AND THEN I WILL-” Justice then appeared right in front of Beelzebub’s face, a scowl on her face. She then cocked back her fist and unleashed a power punch, causing Beelzebub to be knocked back, the pain so intense that the Lord of Flies could not hold on and let go of the ground. Realizing what was about to happen, Beelzebub could only do one thing as they were pulled into the Abyss.
“DAMN YOU TO OBLIVION! DAMN YOOOOOOUUUUUU!” With that declaration, Beelzebub passed into the portal, and it closed, sealing off Beelzebub forever.
Justice could only breath heavily as she gently floated down to the ground. However, once she landed, she collapsed to the ground, eyes closed.
“JUSTICE!” Lucifer had gained some strength, using her adrenaline of fear for Justice’s life to force herself to the demon’s side. When she got there, she got on her knees and picked up Justice, cradling the demon in her arms. “Justice, you did it. You saved us all. You saved me. Thank you.” Justice opened her eyes, her crimson eyes staring into Lucifer’s.
“I’d do it over and over again for you.” Lucifer smiled lovingly at Justice. It was at this moment that Lucifer realized what she felt for Justice.
Love.
Something so uncommon for a demon, usually the opposite for demons. Not Justice though, never Justice. She deserved the world after what she did for her. As she looked into Justice’s eyes though, she noticed something terrifying.
Justice’s crimson eyes were turning gray.
“J-Justice?”
“H-Hey, Lucy, you ok?”
“Your eyes, they’re changing.” Justice simply leaned into Lucifer.
“I see, so this is the cost. For Hierophant, their life. For me, my eyes are the price.” Lucifer’s own eyes widened at that statement.
“What?!” Lucifer couldn’t believe what was happening. Justice had done everything in her power to protect herself and all of Hell. Her reward? To lose her eyes. “There has to be some way to fix this. THERE HAS TO BE!” Justice simply smiled at her.
“Lucifer.” The C.E.O looked at her, tears flowing down her cheeks like a waterfall. Why, why did Justice seem happy? Justice brought her hand up and caressed Lucifer’s cheek. Lucifer leaned into it while looking at Justice. “Please, stay and let me look. Let my last look of life be you.” Lucifer’s heart ached. She didn’t want this to happen, she didn’t want Justice to lose her sight. She wanted Beelzebub stopped, but not like this.
“Listen, Justice, we just need to get you to the hospital. They can stop this, they can-”
“Lucifer.” Lucifer looked Justice in the eye, more of the crimson in her eye had been replaced with gray. “Please.” Lucifer couldn’t do anything, not this time. The only thing she could do was stay.
Until the end.
“O-Ok, I will.”
“Thank you.” Lucifer and Justice stayed like this, with Justice taking in all of Lucifer.
Until Justice was blind.
It had been a few days since Beelzebub’s Rebellion, and life had returned to normal. However, there was one exception: The Sin Machine was silent.
With Justice out of commission, there was no one to take over. Fate was retired, and Judgement, while Justice’s apprentice, was not officiated as the High Prosecutor, so she could not use the Sin Machine by herself.
Lucifer had stayed by Justice’s side, almost never leaving her, unless ordered by the demonic doctors, as they overruled her in the health department.
Lucifer walked towards the Hospital of Dis, her eyes shadowed with a layer of tiredness. She had not been sleeping well since the battle with Beelzebub, stressed about Justice’s condition. Entering the building, the receptionist got up and bowed before Lucifer, who nodded to them and kept walking to her destination, until she stopped in front of a door. Like many times before, she breathes in, then breathes out, and then opens the door.
Inside the room, Justice laid on a bed, a small desk to her left, which held a small object. There was also a small table to the right of the room, with a chair for guests to sit on, and a bathroom across from the table. Justice herself was on the bed, propped up by the top portion of the bed. While Justice did have a hospital gown on during the first week of her stay at the hospital, she instead had her red dress shirt on, which clung to her loosely. The rest of her lower body was covered by the bed’s blanket, which outlined Justice’s legs. Justice also wore one thing that made Lucifer flinch every time she saw it.
Her new red blindfold, tied below her loose hair, over her now gray eyes.
“Hello Lucy.” Lucifer closes the door after Justice says that.
“I’m never going to get used to how you do that.”
“You simply come inside the room in a unique way. That’s how I know it’s always you.” Justice smiled, though her smile seemed strained. It had been like that since the battle, but something was different about this smile.
“Justice, how are you doing today?” Lucifer said as she pulled the chair to Justice’s side. Justice tried to keep the smile, but could not hold it. For once, she frowned.
“I-I’ll be honest, it’s been tough, and I’ve been thinking about a lot of things lately. I think I’ve finally decided.”
“On what?” Instead of answering, Justice pulled her arm out to the desk, placing it on the countertop. Then going up, then down, and up again in various locations, as if looking for something. Then she landed on the small object on the desk. After feeling it for a moment, she picked it up and presented it to Lucifer. Lucifer hesitated, but in the end, she grasped it and pulled it towards her. The object was a small box, small enough to be hand held, but large enough to have a small object inside it. Lucifer slowly lifted the lid of the box to see the contents inside. Once she saw the object, she knew what was about to happen.
The armband given to Justice by Fate.
“Judgement will take my place as High Prosecutor.” Lucifer looked away, she knew that it was going to happen, someone needed to replace Justice, and the only one able to was the apprentice, Judgement. Justice put her hand behind her head and scratched it as she talked. “I know it may be too soon, but I know Judgement can do it, she’s been a fast learner, faster than even me. The only thing she needs to work on is her confidence, but besides that, she’s fantastic!” Justice kept talking and praising Judgement, as if to persuade Lucifer to do this, knowing the C.E.O. 's reservation about the seraph.
“Justice.” Lucifer said, Justice stopped talking, her head turning to the direction of Lucifer, who looked at her.“You don’t need to persuade me. Judgement will be the next High Prosecutor, I’ll make sure of it.” Justice smiled at Lucifer’s words.
“Thank you Lucy. T-Thank you.” Once Justice had said her second ‘thank you,’ she started to cry, tears flowing down from under her blindfold. It was a soft cry, one that tried to hide all the various emotions. Lucifer didn’t say anything. Instead, she scooted her chair closer to Justice and simply hugged her tight. It was at this sudden touch that Justice let the dam flow and clutched onto Lucifer with all her might as she cried out everything she had been holding back since that day.
Lucifer simply rubbed the former High Prosecutor’s back as she wept.
It had been years since that fateful day and things had changed drastically. Judgement was now High Prosecutor, Beelzebub was still locked up wherever she was, and Pandamonica has ran out of good coffee in hell. However, the most drastic came when a man came to Hell for demons.
And succeeded.
Now, Lucifer was in a harem, thank to the promise of pancakes, delicous fucking pancakes. Now she lives in a house on Earth, however, because she was in a harem, she was not alone.
Pandamonica, her secretary, was the first to join. Modeus was next, with Cerberus coming after. After Cerberus was the two sisters, Malina and Zdrada. The angel Azazel was also in the harem, being in Hell at the same time as the man was. Lucifer could see the potential within Azazel, being curious with Hell, something she could mold into something dangerous for Heaven.
It was a gamble, but one she would take.
Even the current High Prosecutor, Judgement, was in the harem. To say it was a crazy time for all was an understatement.
However, besides the man, there was one thing that kept this entire thing grounded.
The final member of the harem.
One day, Lucifer was mixing the batter for another batch of pancakes when she felt a pair of arms wrap around her. Lucifer smiled, as she knew who was hugging her from behind.
“Justice.” Lucifer put down the mixing bowl and the hand mixer down. She turned around to look at Justice.
She had looked much happier since her time at the hospital. Her hair was back to it’s classic shape, with her horns growing a little bit bigger than before, though not by much. She wore a classic red dress shirt with black dress pants, and had her suit used as a sort of cape. She also wore her gloves that said HPJ on them, as a memento to her time as High Prosecutor, as well as her classic shades, given to her by Lucifer.
“Hey there.” Justice kept hugging Lucifer as they stared into each other’s eyes. “I know I would say something cool, but right now I can't think of anything.” Lucifer chuckled at that statement.
“I can think of one thing to say.”
“And what’s that?” Lucifer didn’t say anything, but leaned in for a kiss, joining with Justice’s lips. It was not their first kiss, as that happened shortly after Justice got out of the hospital, while Lucifer was working, and it would most certainly not be their last. Their lips continued to connect until they both pulled back.
“I love you, my High Prosecutor.” Lucifer said in a loving tone.
“I love you too, my Queen.” Justice responded in kind. Justice leaned in for another kiss, which Lucifer obliged. This was their life now, living in a house with seven other demons, and the man who took them all back to his home. If this was to be the rest of eternity, Justice and Lucifer would have been alright with this outcome, because that meant that Justice and Lucifer could spend the rest of their days in a house together happily in love.
For while Justice is blind, she is not heartless.
She is only filled with love, and awesomeness.
