The statue had sloughed off layers of marble to reveal glinting spines and blood-red claws. Shadows flicker around the creature, forming 6 snake-like appendages that seem to skewer the very air as they erratically shift around the former statue. He watches, rapt with morbid curiosity as a gilded crown rises out of the dense lilac mist, rises above the holy temple's tiles, rises until it's so high he cranes his head to gaze at it. Two crimson orbs flicker open, each staining the atmosphere with unholy light. They glimmer with madness and a promise of bloody vengeance. He makes the unfortunate mistake of locking eyes. He's overcome with the urge to prostrate himself before this clear deity and flee, far, far away.
There's a glimpse of the satin space between stars, ravenous voids, broken, broken rules and...
Volo tears his eyes away. Distantly, he can hear someone screaming. He wants them to shut up. The noise incessantly pounds in his ears. When he gingerly touches his ears, his fingertips come back scarlet. He needs to run, go, escape back to the safety of the platinum clan and away from this eldritch creature. Then the creature fully focuses its attention on him. Volo trips, falling forwards in his haste to get away, anywhere but here.
"...Volo watches it, gaze tracing its path, before it pauses in front of him, those bleeding red eyes spinning on its form in a slow, almost meticulous way.
“W-What…?” He can barely utter the words, feeling them struggle in his throat as he tries to speak. “A-Are y-!”
Before he can even finish his thought, the ghastly being jumps forward, red mouth gaping as it swallows him whole..."
