'This is dumb' Amity thinks to herself as she looks at the emperor's Castle at 2 am.
“Why am I even here?” She mutters to herself and sighs when her thoughts come to the same conclusion they had the last ten times she asked that.
She needs… no wants to talk to Hunter of all people.
The brat who nearly toss her girlfriend (at the time crush) Luz into the boiling sea, the jerk who dared to blackmail mom of all people, and the bad boy who stole the palismen from Hexside and would have tossed Luz into the Conformatorium if it hadn’t been for Kikimori betrayal, and the person who stole the key from her.
Amity should hate the golden guard, Hunter, or whatever fake ass name he gave Willow today… yesterday technically speaking. It would make life so much simpler.
But judging by her interaction and what Willow had told her, Hunter was a kid who trying to live up to the expectations the adults put on them, no matter the cost.
Just like she was before Luz.
Amity understands just how hard it is to break those chains. It had taken mom threatening Luz's life for her to fully break free.
Just how hard will it be for Hunter to break his chains, someone who thought one day off a year is a benefit.
What other shit does the emperor put him through? Is Hunter scar from the emperor? Just how bad is the coven?
Amity frowns for a second as her memories of the Covention fill her mind. At least she finally understood why Lilith had made her cheat. That is the only way to get ahead in the emperor coven.
“Why you here, Blight?” a familiar voice says in curiosity, not spite.
Turning, Amity sees Hunter sitting on his staff, and she says “I just wanted to talk to you, Hunter.”
Hunter looks visibly confused when he asks “Why? Is it about what I did to Willow today? From what I understand, you don't get to talk about hurting your friends, Blight.”
“I know.” She says calmly, ignoring the bite in the last word.
After a second of silence, she continues “I know that I been, and sometimes still am, a bad friend. I mean, who bullies their former best friend for haft their life? Me. That who. But that's not why I’m here.”
“Then why are you here?”
Amity takes a deep breath, preparing to say something out loud that she had barely started to accept.
After a second, she says “It's not normal.”
Hunter shakes his head and says “I’m leaving. Go home… Amity.”
As Hunter fixes his poster on the staff, Amity blurts out “The way the emperor treats you isn’t normal. He makes you feel like love has to be earned, and anyone who gives it freely is an idiot. Well, love doesn’t have to be earned. Especially with family. Luz has been trying desperately to get back to the human realm because her mom loves her unconditionally. If Willow went missing, I know both her dads will storm the castle if it would get her back. Same with Gus, Skara, and Viney's parents. But our families? I know mom and dad will look for me, but they wouldn’t storm the castle if I was there. And the Emperor? He didn’t even bat an eye when you were ‘dead’ in Latissa, did he?”
Hunter stays silent for a second, remembering how his uncle was disappointed in him for failing the mission. They never did talk about the fact that Kiki tried, and nearly succeeded if he being honest, in killing him.
Eventually, Hunter sighs and says “It's all I know,” before teleporting away.
“Poor kid.” someone says, causing Amity to yelp in surprise.
Eventually, Amity spots Darius standing in the tree line, and she says nervously “How long have you been there?”
“Long enough. Though I must admit, today has been full of surprises. First Hunter and now you, Amity. You not someone I expected to find incurring rebelling, to say the least.”
“Thanks?” Amity says as she is unsure if that was a compliment or a threat
Darius chuckles slightly and says “Enough chit chat. You should get some sleep. I already have one sleep-deprived kid to deal with, so the last thing I need is another.”
Before Amity can say anything, she is covered in abomination goo.
And the next seconds, she falls on the steps of Blight Manor. Ok, that's cool.
As Amity slips into her bedroom window, she feels her scroll goes off. Pulling out, she sees a notice saying that someone wants to follow her on Penstagram.
She smiles when she sees it is Hunter's profile, causing her to quickly hit accept before going to bed.
