Work Text:

Scar hummed as he pulled a tray of cookies out of the oven, gently setting it on the cooling rack next to his window, so that he could put another tray in its place. There were many things that he could, and couldn’t, do and one of those things was make lovely cookies. Even without any magical influence on them. Like the ones he’s making right now.

He picked up a little egg shaped timer and turned it to the right time before setting it on the counter and putting his hands on his hips. After this batch is done, well that’s when he’ll work on the surprises as well. All in a day's work for the first batches, future production would probably be far less personal, but the samples are meant to be perfect. Meant to get you hooked on them, full of love and magic and sugar.

He grinned as he turned to look at the cooling rack on his windowsill before his eyes widened, “Hey!”

Grian was leaning into the window, a hand locked on a cookie. He had been caught hand in the cookie jar, or well, hand in the window of a tree. He smiled a bit, “Oh, hi Scar. Funny running into you here.”

“In my own house?”

“Mhm.” He nodded a bit and picked up the cookie, “I like the apron, by the way. Doesn’t really go with the rest of the matador look, but it’s cute nonetheless.”

Scar looked down at his apron, a cute and frilly pink with the words ‘Kiss the Elf’ on it. “Well, thank you, I try my very best to…hey!” He hurried over and grabbed the cookie out of his hand right before Grian could bite it, “You can’t just distract me with compliments while stealing from me.”

“Why not?” Grian groaned and leaned his cheek on the side of the window, “You’ve got a whole tray of perfectly edible food right here, in the window nonetheless! You’re practically offering them for free!”

“Aren’t you into pies right now?”

“You know, cheat days still exist with unhealthy diets too. Can’t I just have one? It’s not like you’re going to be able to eat all of these on your own!”

He furrowed his eyebrows and squinted at the winged man hanging from his window. If he really wanted to, he could just push his face and send him off on his way like that. Then, he couldn’t steal any cookies. However, he was making quite the adorable puppy dog face at the moment.

“Only one. I’m going to be selling these, so I can’t have you eating them all before other people can try them.” He held the cookie out for Grian, smiling a bit as it was swiped from his hand, “Maybe they’ll be enough to change your diet to a different sugary sweet.”

“I’ll be the judge of that.” Grian looked at the cookie and nodded a bit, “These do look quite cute though, so if they taste half as good as they look, I’ll consider it. What kind are they, anyway?”

“Oh, well I’m so glad you asked. I’ve been calling them Elven Kisses,” Scar smiled just as Grian took a bite of the cookie. Almost simultaneously, the magic effect of the cookie took effect and he watched as Grian’s eyes widened. The purple particles appeared and disappeared just as the winged man did as well.

After a second, Grian reappeared in the air right in front of Scar, falling into the man and knocking the both of them to the ground. Scar gasped as he landed and stared up at Grian. His wings were flared, clearly caught off guard by the sudden teleportation, as he sat on Scar’s chest, hands to either side of him. The two stared at each other for a moment before laughing loudly.

Grian stood up and held out his hand for Scar to take, helping him to his feet and shaking his head. Scar ran his hands through his hair, trying to fix it up after the tumble.

“Is it supposed to teleport you to the nearest elf to kiss?” Grian laughed, covering his mouth as he did, “Or was that just a coincidence?”

“It’s just supposed to teleport you a little bit, not to anywhere specific.” Scar laughed, “Unless…maybe I’m lying. You want to try a second cookie?” He wiggled his eyebrows as he asked that.

“Oh, shut up.” He laughed and pushed Scar a bit, “I’m quite alright, maybe some other time.”

“What did you think about it? Thoughts? Feelings? Feedback is VERY useful for customer service, you know, anything to make sure everyone is pleased with the product.”

Grian rubbed his chin a bit and nodded, “It was pretty good, though the teleport was a surprise. It wasn’t just half as tasty as it looked, but twice as tasty. I didn’t know you could bake so well.”

Scar grinned and put a hand to his chest, “Well, I am a man of many talents. Just look at my luscious hair, do you think that someone with these beautiful locks can’t bake?”

“Maybe you should cook me dinner sometime, man of many talents.”

“I don’t know about that, I can bake but that doesn’t really mean I can cook too-”

The egg timer went off, startling the two of them enough to get little shouts out of the both of them. They looked at the timer and then each other, before laughing again.

“I’ll leave you to your baking, Scar. Try not to teleport too many people into your face before the day ends.” Grian shook his head and started to walk out.

Scar laughed as he put on his oven mitts again, “No promises!”
