Oikawa was walking up and down his living room, he was frantically calling everyone in his contacts. He got called into work because an important investor had come to talk about the project 2 days early and he was assigned to do a presentation for that project. And he needed someone to watch his 4 year old son, Hiro.
Hiro’s mother, Asami, and Oikawa aren’t together. They were once, almost 5 years ago. Oikawa found out she had been cheating on him with multiple men over the few months before she fell pregnant and she didn’t even know who the father was.
Oikawa immediately broke up with her and only stayed in contact, minimum contact, throughout her pregnancy because there was chance that he was the father,
He was hoping he was because he always wanted kids and was ecstatic when Asami told him she was pregnant.
And to his pleasure he was Hiro's father. Asami didn’t want to do anything with Oikawa or Hiro, she already had a new boyfriend. She signed all rights as a mother and Oikawa got full custody. He moved to Tokyo from Miyagi.
His family was sad when he told them he would move to another city, hours away, but Oikawa needed a fresh start, and a lot of his friends lived in Tokyo too.
Back to Oikawa, his usual babysitter quit a few days ago because she was moving to another city and he still didn’t find anyone new. His son was still too young to go to daycare. His friends were watching him for the past few days but today no one could.they were all in college or job. And his family is too far away to come and babysit him on time.
“Iwa-chan please help me! Please! I have to be at work in 25 minutes and I have no one to watch Hiro! I can’t take him with me!” Oikawa whined to his best friend - “I don’t know how to help you, I can’t leave my shift because I have important operations for today that can’t be rescheduled.” He defended himself for what felt like a millionth time in the past 10 minutes.
“Wait a sec! I’ll call you in a minute.” And he hang up. Oikawa groaned. He was going to lose it. He either stays home with Hiro or leaves him alone for hours.
And neither of those things are the option. He can’t lose his job, he needs to provide for his son but he can’t abandon him either. Just as he was about to call his boss and lie that he was sick and can't come but will send him a presentation, Iwaizumi called him.
“Okay so, there is this guy who was in class with me in college and we became friends, he's a great guy and I trust him. He is still in college and in need of money so I asked him if he would babysit Hiro, and he said he would, I already gave him your address and he will be over at yours in 10 minutes.” He said.
Oikawa was silent for a moment - “How much do you trust him?” Oikawa asked. “I let him watch Floki a few times while I was away.” Iwa said seriously. “Okay. I have to go now, bye.” And the call ended.
So this is why Oikawa agreed when Iwa mentioned Floki. Floki was Iwa’s swiss shepherd and Iwa loved him more than life itself. He rarely lets anyone who isn’t his family or Oikawa touch him. So if he trust’s this guy enough to watch his pretiou’s Floki Oikawa trusts him to watch his Hiro.
And Iwa loves Hiro so he wouldn’t just send some random guy he doesn't trust to babysit Hiro.
Oikawa went to his son's room. Hiro was playing on the floor with his toys - “Hey baby, Dad has to go to work now but a really good friend will watch you. His name is Kageyama Tobio. Okay?” He crouched down next to a child. Hiro looked at him and nodded - “Okay!” he said and smiled brightly.
And then the bell rang. Oikawa stood up and went to open the door, Hiro trailing behind him with Toothless plushie in his hand. Oikawa opened the door…
And froze…

An angel was standing in front of me. He was literally the prettiest, most beautiful, most handsome, gorgeous stunning person I ever saw in my life. “Hello, I’m Kaheyama Tobio, nice to meet you.” He introduced himself.
I stared at him, not moving until I felt someone nudge my leg. U looked down and looked at Hiro. He pointed to Kageyama - "You have to introduce yourself too, and mee too." He said shyly.
I turned back to Kageyama, "I'm sorry for my rudeness. I'm Oikawa Tooru, and this is my son Hiro." I shook his hand and he nodded. "He will show you where everything is. I'm in a hurry so I have to go. I'll be back in a few hours." I said and let him in.
I took my things and said goodbye to Kageyama and Hiro again before leaving.

I looked at Hiro. He was standing in front of me, looking up at me - "What do you want to do?" I asked.
"Can we watch cartoons?" He asked. " Of course. What do you want to watch?" I asked. "Um… How To Train Your Dragon, please." He said.
"Do you want any snacks or drinks?" I asked as he took my hand and led me to the living room. "Um… fruit please, and hot chocolate."
I sat him on the couch and surrounded him with blankets and pillows and his plushies. I put on HTTYD 1 and he told me where the kitchen is. I saw a bowl with all kinds of fruit so I cut apples, banana and strawberry into bite size pieces and put them in a bowl along with raspberries. Then I found everything I needed for hot chocolate and made it. Also I made coffee for myself.
I returned to the living room about 15 minutes later and saw Hiro in the same position he was before but he was holding a Toothless plushie. He was looking at the TV mesmerised. I smiled, he looked adorable.
I gave him his bowl of fruit and put hot chocolate and coffee on the table before getting 2 glasses of water from the kitchen. I put his sippy cup with water beside the one with hot chocolate and took my coffee before sitting beside him.
We watched all 3 movies and he excitedly pointed out almost everything, but I didn't mind, I love kids and Hiro was an easy kid. He listens to everything you tell him, he doesn't throw a tantrum when he wants something and asks politely. When he can’t get something he asks why but why you give him an answer he leaves it alone.
And in a blink of an eye 5 hours have passed. Before the 3rd movie Hiro wanted dinner so I made him some ramen and he ate while watching. After that I gave him a bath and put him into his pyjamas before tucking him in.
His room was decorated with dragon things, especially HTTYD. I read him a bedtime story and he fell asleep. I silently exited his room and went to clean up the kitchen and living room, since it was quite a mess.
After about half an hour I was done and sat in the living room, scrolling through my phone, while some movie was playing in the background on the TV. ‘This was easier than I thought.’
Then I heard the door opening and closing, and someone sighing. I guessed it was Mr. Oikawa so I got up and went to great him - “Evening, Mr. Oikawa.” I said. He looked at me - “Oh, hello Kageyama.” He said while taking off his shoes and jacket.
“I’m sorry it took so long, there were some complications and I really couldn’t come any sooner.” He apologised. I shook my head. “No problem, it was fun spending time with Hiro.” I said.
“Did he cause you any trouble? I hope not.” I smiled - “No, we watched How To Train Your Dragon, he really loves dragons. He ate his dinner without a problem and didn’t make any mess or trouble.” I reassured him. “Which reminds me, I made ramen for dinner and there was some left. I put it in a microwave, figured you would be hungry when you come back.” He looked puzzled.
“Thank you very much. Oh my god you even cleaned up! You didn’t have to!” He exclaimed when he saw the kitchen and living room. “It was no problem, I made a mess so I cleaned it. If you wouldn’t mind I would have to go. I have classes tomorrow.” I said.
“Of course, here is your pay. And thank you again for babysitting him. I’m sure he had a great time.” I nodded.
He escorted me to the door and thanked me again before we bid our goodbyes.
‘I hope I get to babysit Hiro again, he was a really lovely kid. And I wouldn't mind seaing Mr. Oikawa again.’ I thought as I walked home.
