A small boy stared at the strange man in front of him.
"Who are you?"
"I am your new guardian, Satoru Gojo! Nice to meet ya, kid."
The kid scoffed, "Yeah, no thanks," and walked away.
"I- Hey, no, wait up. I need to supervise you!" The white-haired teen followed the child, "Megumi Fushiguro, right? I'm serious, I'm your guardian."
Megumi ignored him, continuing to walk home, "Don't need one. My sister is enough."
"Your sister who is literally only a year older than you? Dude, you're six, meaning she's seven. You definitely need an adult in the house." It was a bit of a stretch, they were technically in the same grade level, and Gojo himself wasn't an adult, but still.
"You don't act like an adult," Megumi deadpanned.
Gojo sputtered, "I am basically an adult. Also, you barely even know me! How would you know how I act, huh?" This kid had too much spunk for his taste.
The kid ignored him, walking the rest of the way home with Gojo following him. Once he reached his home, he walked instead, then shut the front door as fast as his little arms would allow him to, leaving Gojo outside.
"HEY! MEGUMI!! Let me in, pleaseeee~" Gojo whined. Megumi ignored him, leaving to his room.
From outside the door, Gojo huffed. The audacity of this kid! He then sighed, pulling his phone out. There was only one person to call. Thankfully for Gojo, the man picked up.
"...Gojo? What is it? Aren't you supposed to be taking care of the Fushiguro kid?"
"Nanami~ He locked me outside!" He could hear shuffling on the other end, though it was probably just his friend trying to hide his chuckle.
"Gojo, he's six. I think you can overpower him." The student huffed, "It's not that simple. I can't just break in, he would trust me even less and I'd get in trouble."
"Wow, never thought you'd be someone to think things through."
"I didn't call you so you could insult me, ya know. I need your help!"
"Well, then. Good luck." And Nanami hung up.
Gojo scoffed, "Ugh, my friends are useless."
The sorcerer-in-training walked around on the porch for a few minutes. This is what he gets for trying to be a nice person. Remind me to never be nice again, he thought to himself.
Just then, another kid, a little girl shows up. She pauses, seeing Gojo standing there. "Um, can I help you, sir?"
His face lights up. Perfect. "Hiya! Tsumiki? I think... Oh- I'm Gojo, the guardian sent here."
Tsumiki gives a blank stare. "Uh, what?"
Gojo sighs, "I'm with Jujutsu High, alright?" The school must have been familiar because a look of recognition flashes in the girl's eyes. She nods, "Oh, okay, then come in!"
She opens the door with her key and lets Gojo in. "I've never heard of the school before, but it sounds official, so maybe you're good!" Or she's just stupid, alright.
"Tsumiki, who are you talking to-" Megumi stares at Gojo. "Tsumiki, you let a stranger in? He was following me from school!"
Gojo scoffed, "Excuse you, no, I was not. I was waiting for you in the middle of the street!" He faltered, "Okay, wait, that doesn't sound much better..." The two step-siblings gave him deadpan looks.
Megumi crosses his arms, "What do you want from me?"
"I told you, I'm your guardian!"
"No, you're not."
Gojo sighs. "Megumi."
"Don't call me that."
"Kid."
"That's worse."
"Child."
"You're digging yourself into a hole."
"Fushiguro!"
"Yes?"
Gojo glared at Megumi, looking at the older innocently. The utter audacity of this child amazed him. "Anyway. So, long story short, your daddy is a Jujutsu sorcerer and he left the Zen'in clan, aka a super-powerful group to have you, therefore, you were sold to them! Butttt, I stopped you from being sold, as long as you work with me and become a Jujutsu sorcerer."
"What the hell is a Jujutsu sorcerer?"
"Megumi!" Tsumiki hissed.
The white-haired teen put his hand on Megumi's head, "Hey, no cussing, kid." He just ducked away from Gojo.
"Do you know what cursed techniques are?"
"Obviously not," He answered in a monotone voice.
"Damn, I hate explaining."
"You're a useless adult."
"And you're a shitty kid."
"I thought you said no cussing."
Gojo froze. Nanami is going to kill him. "Well, I'm an adult."
"A shitty one." Ouch. Using his own words against him.
Tsumiki sighed, "Megumi!"
The blue-eyed sorcerer squatted down to eye level in front of Megumi. "Look, listen. You have potential. You can already do some stuff, can't you?"
Megumi glanced around awkwardly. He hadn't told anyone about his weird shadow dogs that appear out of nowhere. His sister raises an eyebrow, "Is that true, Megumi?"
Gojo gestures to the empty space in front of them, "Show me."
Muttering some...not-very-nice words about Gojo, Megumi claps his hands together, separates his middle and ring finger on his right hand, sticks his thumb up, and adjusts his left hand over it. A puddle of shadows appears on the floor and two baby dogs pop out, heads twisting in confusion.
Tsumiki gasps, obviously surprised. Gojo, not entirely shocked, but definitely impressed by what a six-year-old can already do, takes off his glasses to get a better look at the shadow dogs. The dogs surround Gojo, sniffing him.
Satoru nods, patting Megumi's head, pleased, "You have potential, Megumi. Come on, join me in being a sorcerer." He adds, "If you do, you and I both get financial aid from the school to support us."
The six-year-old glances at Tsumiki. He knows money to keep their apartment up is extremely tight right now.
"You say it like I had a choice in the first place. Because if I don't agree, I still get sold, right?"
Gojo chuckled, "Alright, you're smarter than I gave you credit for. Yes, that's true, but whether or not you participate in actually training completely depends on you."
"Is training hard?"
"Yep! But it's totally worth it."
Megumi sighed, "Guess I'm selling my soul to the devil, then."
The teen put his hands on his hips, "The devil isn't your trainer, though," Gojo said. "And training isn't gonna be that bad."
"But dealing with you will be."
"HEY!"
-
"And that's how I met Megumi!" Gojo finished, doing jazz hands at Yuji and Nobara. The two stared at him, shock on their faces.
Itadori blinked, "Wow, who knew Fushiguro was that sassy at age six?" The girl beside him just nodded.
"Yeah, he never tells us anything."
"Hm..." The white-haired now-officially-an-adult tapped his chin. "Well, I could tell you the story of the time he jumped off a roof to summon his Nue better and almost got himself killed. His sister freaked out, but it was quite funny."
The two teens stared at him like he was crazy.
Well, less crazy than Megumi jumping off a roof, but, still.
