Taeil and Jaehyun broke up 5 yrs ago after the elder pushed him away. He loved the younger but he was so sure he was holding him back. The younger was so good to him and it made him mad how selfless Jehyun was being. He felt like he was the bad guy, always getting too much, not giving enough.
On an extra tiring day, Taeil found himself walking in the park they used to frequent before their relationship turned for the worst and he couldn't help but feel overwhelmingly empty. He reaches for the silver ring dangling on a thin chain around his neck, Jaehyun's third year anniversary gift to him.
"I see you still have it. That must mean something.
Taeil turned so fast to see Jaehyun looking like nothing the last time he saw him. Looking extra handsome dressed in a three-piece suit, an expensive timepiece on his wrist.
"It really does.." is all he could say, forcing his eyes away from the younger.
Jaehyun sat next to him, keeping his distance, and started telling him about how the last five years has been to him. About the job, the promotions. The transfer.
"It may be a long shot but I told myself if I can see you again after all this years, unprompted, I will take my chances. I told myself that as soon as I can hold you once again, I won't let go of you, I swear."
Taeil stares at the man sitting beside him not knowing what to say so he went for the obvious.
"I've hurt you Jae.."
A sad little smile graces the youngster's lips, his eyes roaming every inch of his face as if taking in his sight and tattooing it at the a special place is his mind. Taeil finally breaks and let's the younger pull him in his protective hug when he finally said:
"I know... but I've lived with the scars. And we'll live through scars. I can't go on without you anymore."
