Work Text:

Revan woke with her lightsaber already in her hand. She didn't light the blade yet, there was no immediate danger. Nothing in her room anyway. A brief pulse through the Force showed no nearby threats. The closest living things were her guards, and they were beyond the common room. If something had managed to sneak by them, HK would be letting the whole compound know how thrilled he was to have an opportunity to kill some meatbags. She'd have to figure out a proper mission to send him on before he started getting anxious about his skills getting rusty. Then he'd complain he's having errors because Droids aren't supposed to get anxious, and "something must be wrong with his programming Master!"

Regardless, he wasn't currently alerting about a threat. So Revan idly wondered what had woken her. She was a light sleeper, she'd be the first to admit it, but T3-M4 and HK-47 both knew to keep still during the night as much as possible. They couldn't help the noise they made during the night, but them moving around while she rested always roused her from her sleep. Then she felt it, a surge of panic in the Force.

Ah, that would explain it.

Revan gently placed her Saber back under her pillow and turned to her bedmate. Bastila's face was scrunched up in that way that normally Revan found adorable. Well, normally she found adorable. With the panic pulsing through the bond they shared, it was more concerning than anything. Bastila didn't get nightmares often. Revan tended to more than her lover did. Revan sent as much love as she could muster through the bond. Then Bastila whimpered.

Revan frowned. If Malak had ever released such a noise, Revan wouldn't have hesitated to pounce on the shown weakness. But this wasn't her old apprentice. Bastila let out another whimper.

Revan tossed her hesitation aside. Perhaps Sith Lords past would look down upon her for coddling her student in a moment of weakness, but this was more than her student. Revan pulled the taller woman into her arms, gently shaking her. "Bastila. Bastila, wake up."

She whimpered again, but continued to sleep.

"Come on love. I need you to wake up for me."

Revan really should have thought that through a little more. Bastila finally awoke with that, but she surged forward, panic brilliant in the Force. And their heads collided. Both heads snapped back, pain and confusion flooding the bond now. Gently rubbing her forehead, Revan wraps her other arm around her partner. "Hello love."

"What's going on?" Bastila asked, shaking slightly as she rubbed her head.

"You were having a nightmare. Are you alright?"

"I'm fine, a Sith Lord doesn't get nightmares." Bastila grouched, still shaking slightly.

"Bastila, come on, you can talk to me, what's wrong?"

"It's ridiculous."

Revan gently cupped her lover's hands, "You're still shaking. It's really not."

Tears began welling in Bastila's eyes, Revan watched, partially mesmerized as the yellow eyes seemed to glow in the darkness. "It's just, Malak again. I'm-I'm back on that damn table with him standing over me, and-and he didn't even do the things to me that I was having a nightmare about but-"

"But nothing. Bastila, before Malak got his hands on you, you were one of the fircest defenders of the Jedi and the Light that I had ever seen. While I might agree with the results of what he did," Revan gently stroked her face, " I would never agree with his methods. And the mind conjures things when you're asleep. I'll never regret what I did to him, to return the favor of what he did to you."

Bastila silently nodded,, tears beginning to flow.

Revan pulled her closer, tucking her lover's head under her chin. "Shhh, it's okay, it's okay. He's gone. Let it all out. And in the morning, I'll take you to one of my mind healers. They're very professional, and know that if anything we tell them is spoken to anyone else, they'll find themselves on the receiving end of my wrath. But for now, lets rest. We can stay here as long as we need too. The Empire is ours, it can wait a few hours if you want it in the morning."

Notes:

Don't ask me where it came from, I was at work, I had an idea, I wrote it in like, 3 hours? I dunno. Regardless, have fun with this one, and there, hopefully, should be something else coming soon. But only if you behave. Until then, enjoy the apocalypse! ducks back into my hole
