Crimson

Summary:

Alphas and omegas cannot live together, violence towards omegas was only part of the history books. With artificial insemination, things as absurd as the mark and the knot were completely erased.

Jin never understood his father's fascination with omegas. Until that moment.

Notes:

This work is an original work of mine I posted a long time ago in Wattpad in Spanish, there might be grammar errors I hope you forgive and indulge since English is not my first language.

The story is shot and there is a lot of violence, if you aren't comfortable reading about blood, I recommend not to read.

Work Text:

The sun was particularly bright the morning his father had been shot. His fresh crimson blood on the pavement was a unique splash of color among the grayscale of the worn city. The only family he had left in the world was dead and all for daring to look at the forbidden side. The man had been a foolish fool, but he insisted it was worth it. "You don't know how beautiful they are," he repeated each day before using his place as a border guard to explore further afield.

Seokjin always believed that his mother was a dreamer, but daring to fantasize was for real idiots. He verified it in the first instance, that time when his friend Jimin had disappeared after having confessed the collection of writings about the omega body that he possessed. He had a hard time recovering from losing him but he learned the real lesson and his place in the world.

In any case, he had never seen an omega in his life so really daring to fantasize about them was a ridiculous game. Vaguely when Professor Minho neglected the group a bit and they took shelter away from the cameras and microphones that were always alert surrounding their classroom, and he was able to hear the rumors and get an idea about them omegas; beings with strange bodies, with large hips and a smell so tremendously sweet that your mouth watered. What was so fascinating about that? He also remembered the scars that he had on his back, after being discovered in one of those conversations. Fortunately, he had always been strong to pull that through, but his companions, who were then about six years old, did not suffer the same fate. He felt like a survivor, and decided that he would be for the rest of his life. Same reason why he didn't hesitate now when the Minseok officer had asked him why his parent was out for so early in the morning, he only replied that he didn't know but that it probably had something to do with the omegas he so much loved to talk about.

They took his Dad's body away from him in a sac like a garbage bag and he vaguely recognized the heaviness of guilt in his stomach. But he quickly deleted it the moment an email arrived on his phone, his face remained stoic but as he read it got worse; he would have to take his father's place by succession, as was due per tradition.

The next morning, he put on his father's uniform, feeling enormous discomfort. Nausea hit him as a piece of soft tissue appeared between his armpit, making him to spill his breakfast into the toilet. His father had been shot in the head therefore his back was covered in dried blood. Although he was nefarious, that punishment was the most merciful for not having revealed before, the comments that he heard from his dad.

He thus fulfilled his training all day, with pious looks and without any comment. He met the border for the first time; a wide concrete wall of about ten floors, constantly guarded. His job was to stand on it and shoot anyone who intended to try to cross or just be near the area for no apparent reason.

Once he had been allowed to wash his uniform, things got easier. He fell into his routine, carrying his weapon as if it were an extension of his body and patrolling without mistakenly daring to see the other side. That went on for several weeks, until he got the night shift. The height made the place feel terrifyingly cold, even for an alpha who always had good body heat and the sky was so thickly dark that unafraid of the lack of light he still struggled to relax at the possibility that another officer would get confused and shoot him. Because normally it was difficult to distinguish beyond the shadows and they had orders to kill, thus, it was common for new officers to end up victims or victimizers of a bullet from another guard.

That night seemed normal until it wasn't. So distracted was he looking at the alpha's side that he didn't notice a body slide in from the other side, the omega's one, hitting him from behind and pinning him over the wall. He squeezed his eyes shut, knowing that it could probably be one of his last seconds alive and he thought that at least he had made it past 20 years.

“As you speak, dirty alpha, I will stick this knife in your throat.” Seokjin felt a burning in his neck but his mind was too confused to think of anything other than his pleasant velvety voice.

“Are you an omega?” He inquired stunned and the aforementioned then turned him around, giving him a suspicious look when he saw his face.

“Alphas were rumored to be stupid, but I didn't know the magnitude. ” He replied. Seokjin could only admire the delicate and beautiful features of his, going down the strange body of him in black garments, but surely nothing was more striking than his crimson lips. Seeing them, he finally understood Jimin and his father.

“What's your name? I am Seokjin” he asked curiously, because he knew that his death was sentenced from the first word the omega said to him.

“Jungkook. Are you not afraid of me?” He muttered with a frown but lowering the pressure of the knife a little.

“To be afraid of death is to be afraid of life and now that dying is my only certainty, why not living a little?” He replied looking at him even more interested. “What are you doing here?”

“I hate this separation between alphas and omegas, so I'm going to kill the leaders. There is an internal rebellion from the omegas” Jungkook answered in a very tremulous voice.

Without time to process that, he caught sight of a shadow behind the boy. In a second, he had turned the omega around and covered him with his own body, receiving several bullets in the back. It was instinctive, like something ancient controlling his body and commanding him to give everything to protect the omega in front of him. Jin's life fading before Jungkook's stunned gaze.

“Kill them, Jungkook”. Jin muttered weakly, staring at the crimson cherry lips. Jungkook gasped and without much thought left a kiss on the soft lips of that alpha who had saved him without even knowing him.

After that short but meaningful instant, the alpha turned and fired at his teammates to distract them, several shots hitting his chest. For that kiss... his death was worth the brief contact with his Omega. The latter taking the opportunity to leave.

Jungkook felt something heavy in his chest, and a lump on his throat, a very unique and deep sensation as he infiltrated into alpha territory, he had the strange certainty that it was Seokjin's death, tears came out of his eyes. He read about this is the forbidden book: destined mates. Though his chest burned he would go on, he would not let his alpha's death be in vain.
