Work Text:
The Christmas holidays had arrived to the joy of everyone except Wednesday. While she enjoyed the cold, the way it felt like it was crawling along her skin...
Christmas wasn't really for her, she wasn't religious so she didn't feel any attachment to the celebration. Even though it seemed like everyone else had something to be happy about.
The number of times she had been told to "Get in the holiday spirit!" Urgh she wanted to slap some sense into people, trying to tell her what to do.
Unfortunately Enid's family hadn't wanted her home since she was "Such a disgrace to wolfkind" whatever that meant.
However, being the amazing friend she was she invited her to an Addams family Christmas. With a considerable amount of bribing from Thing.
Unfortunately, when they arrived at her house, a call from her mother on the crystal ball informed the two that her mother, father, brother and extended family were stuck in Ibiza due to plane issues, and would be for there for another 3 weeks.
"So I guess it's just you and me! We're going to have so much fun!"
Giving Enid a side eye, Wednesday kept walking to her bedroom. Once inside she inspected it closely to ensure none of her possessions had been moved.
Her walls were a matt black that made it seem smaller than it was, the dark grey carpet was still super fluffy. Her desk in the corner was organised and still had every piece of paper and stationery meticulously placed.
Moving to her 3/4 bed she noted that her covers had been changed from the previous black with grey snakes to grey with black snakes. Rude.
"So um, where will I be sleeping?"
Whipping round, Wednesday had almost forgotten about her roomie stood by the door.
"Oh you can just share with me." It was out of her mouth before she could think about it.
And now, thinking about it, it was a terrible idea but she couldnt be bothered to go into the loft and find a mattress that's in a semi-decent condition.
"Due to the hour I believe we should eat something for dinner then prepare for bed."
"Oh OK sure!"
And with that the two trooped back downstairs into the kitchen, only to find that there was basically no food in the pantry, fridge or cupboards.
Wednesday was stumped. What were they going to do all holiday, three weeks. She guessed they could probably find a rabbit or three in the forest and there was almost certainly some evergreen vegetables somewhere in the grounds.
Her musings were interrupted by the click-clacking of nails on mobile device, Enid's to be exact.
"There's a bunch of shops less than a mile away, we could just go there if you have any money?"
If she had any money? She thought Enid knew her family liked to throw money at her to try and make her behave how they wanted her to. Not that it worked but they still kept trying.
"I'll grab my card and a coat, you should put on some more layers too." The last part was said reluctantly but it would make a difficult holiday if she had to deal with a friend with frostbite.
The trek to the shops went reasonably quickly but upon their arrival Wednesday realised she had made a grave mistake.
She forgotten Enid's ridiculous love for shopping. She knew it would be her downfall one day but for it to be so soon made her sigh.
At least it was only food shopping.
