Why Are Most Of Izuku's Friends Quirkist?

Summary:

"I'm glad none of my friends are quirkless." Uraraka said, her voice dripping with disgust. She visibly recoiled at the word and winced.

Iida responded with equal, if not more, disgust, "Can you imagine?" He also scrunched his face up.

Izuku tensed even more, barely keeping his eyes from dripping and pouring like water from a broken pipe. His gaze was fixed even more on the table in front of him. He could see Kacchan also tensing in the corner in his eyes, a flurry of emotions shown on his face.

"Eww." Uraraka exclaimed, even more disgust pouring out into her voice. More than he thought possible for such a nice person like her. Well, he didn't really know if he could actually call her nice anymore. Not when she was acting exactly like his bullies growing up.

"Don't listen to them, Izuku." Kacchan's slight whisper travelled to his ears. Avoiding the ears opposite them.

Notes:

Basically I was on tt and got inspired by @mha.is.a.vibe to write a ff. They stated that they don't dislike uraraka or Iida and neither do I but I thought this would be fun to write.

Not beta read

I did write this in like 45 mins so don't expect much.

Work Text:

Izuku's relationship with Kacchan had definitely gotten better over the past few months at UA. He didn't burn him. Or even threaten him anymore. And although their relationship was still rocky, at some point, they had come to a mutual agreement that if one was upset, the other can comfort them if no questions were asked.

Due to their increasing positivity towards each other, their friends (Kacchan called them his extras) decided to move their tables closer together to continue the gradual loss of hostility.

This is how it lead to them sitting nearer to one another in a crowded cafeteria.

However, the 'Dekusquad's' table had been taken over by some second years and due to Iida not wanting to 'direspect their upperclassmen, they must find somewhere else to sit'.

This caused an awkward shuffle of the three students to move towards the table with a single scowling blonde while his friends were heard in the long queue for Lunchrush's famous food. Luckily, they got in the line early.

"Hey, Kacchan! Do you mind if we sit? Our usual table kinda got taken by some second years." Izuku mentioned while Kacchan scowled in consideration.

"Ah, Bakugo. It would be mean to tell us to go away." Uraraka pouted, as of it was actually going to help convince him.

Kacchan sighed and begrudgingly huffed out, "Fine, you fuckin' nerds. But as soon as you extras begin annoying me, you're out."

The green haired teen cheered mentally as he went to sit beside the explosive pomeranian.

The boy glanced minutely at the human embodiment of a bush and half-heartedly rolled his eyes as he watched Uraraka and Iida sit down opposite the two of them.

However, this is when disaster struck and something was overheard.

When someone mentioned the increasing suicide rates of quirkless people.

A squeaky distinctly female voice loudly exclaimed, "Oh my god, guys. Guys! Guess what?" She quickly continued, not allowing any time for the people she was talking to, to reply. "Open the news site. Terror news just released info about all the quirkless suicides happening. And I used to know some of them. And be friends with them. Ew."

Izuku tensed and stared intensely at the table holding up his food. Hoping intensely that neither of the people opposite him were quirkist. Hoping that he had a good judge of character and that he could still see them the same way no matter their views.

But the support he hoped would occur, didn't.

He could sense Kacchan staring at the side of his head. Could tell that he noticed his trembling. Could almost hear him asking, do you need me to get us out of here, nerd?

He slightly nodded his head, unnoticeable to anyone who wasnt specifically looking for it. But luckily, the scowling blonde was.

The blonde suddenly lurched up, to the surprise of the quirkist duo opposite them, grabbed both their lunches and Izuku's bicep and began dragging him out despite the questioning protests of the blue and brown haired students.

Once outside, Kacchan plopped himself down in front of large oak tree. While he was sitting down, he forced Izuku and his tearly eyes to sit down beside him and set their lunches to the side on the ground.

He could hear him sigh heavily before he declared, "You have some shit friends, you know?"

Izuku chucked waterly. "Yeah, I guess I'm not as good a judge of character I thought I was."

There was a stretch of silence.

"Can I have a hug?"

"Yeah, fuckin' whatever."

Izuku launched himself into his childhood friends arms and sobbed loudly, the blondes uniform slightly muffling the sound.

Their food sat there untouched for the remainder of lunch. But so did they.

Aizawa approached the pair of children under the old oak tree and saw the mess before home before deciding, eh fuck it. They can miss class. He spoke lowly as to not startle his the problem children.

"You kids don't worry about missing class. Just, head back to the dorms." Aizawa mustered out to the pair before swivelling around and walking away to the main building.

Although that was said to the both of them, only one heard. Because the other was crying. That's why.

Bakugo slowly picked the tired hero student up and carried him back to the dorms. Into his room to keep an eye on him.

God, Izuku needs better friends.
