Outside “Mini Poppies” on Byres Road, Glasgow Scotland
It's cold, chilly, and only 10 degrees outside today in Glasgow. Minerva McGonagall, and Poppy Pomfrey are finally opening their new cafe. “Oh, do you think it will be ok?” Minerva said with a mixture of worry and hope. “It will be fine. Now let’s get inside and get to it!” Stated poppy with much more confidence then McGonagall. They headed in and started the day.
After around an hour, only 10 or so people had shown up. Minnie and Poppy didn't have a lot of money to spend a month devoting their time and effort to renovating the old mill. This left a budget of thirty to a budget of 0 to go to advertising. But since they were in a college town word got around quickly. Most young adults in Glasgow went to Glasgow University, a college that has been around for over 560 years. So naturally a bunch of college students came to get some relatively cheap coffee and treats. It also became a popular place to study given the usual calm atmosphere of Mini Poppies.
The cafe has been open for a while; it’s now early February . With how many people have started to come by it got increasingly hard to manage the shop with just Minnie and Poppy. So they put up job applications. Within a few days all of the job applications have been submitted for review. Now was time for the hard part. The interview process. They had over 10 applicants. At the end they had 3 new people to help run the shop. Lily, a very nice young lady studying astronomy. Severus, a very intelligent young man studying chemistry. He is very friendly to Lily. Finally Narcissa, a very charming lady who graduated from Glasgow in psychology. She still lives near campus.
The cafe had been running smoothly since then. Lily or Narcica usually handled the customers, as Severus made the drinks. Of course they would switch, but they weren’t too good at the other jobs. Lily liked trying to remember the customers' faces. She soon noticed the same person coming in more than once a day. She told Narcissa about him. “ Oh yeah I have seen him around campus. He usually is hanging around my cousin Sirius, or just reading. I have no clue why he would be here a lot though,” said Narcissa, who looked deep in thought about who this person was. With every passing day this person hung out at the cafe the more Narcissa wondered how he was friends with her cousin.
They soon figured out his name was Remus. He was an English major at Glasgow. They also figured out he made his own in campus delivery service and Mini Poppies was an extremely popular place. Luckily this delivery service didn’t drive out the masses of study groups. It was a Sunday morning and three people walked in. One Narcissa knew was Regulus, her other cousin. She didn’t know the other two. One had long blonde hair and seemed to be dressed in a baby blue dress with little flowers stitched in. The other one was very pretty. Medium brown hair that looked soft, wearing a very pretty red summer dress. Which must have been cold. Narcissa spaced out looking at the very pretty lady who was sitting next to her cousin. Lily had to hit her overhead with a newspaper for her to pay attention. The lady left a note. “The coffee was a bit bitter for a Sunday morning but it was still fantastic. -Alice”.
Lily started talking to the other girl Pandora I think was her name. Anyway, she and Lily were talking about a book club in the shop. Pomfrey seemed to like the idea. A lot of people have started coming more recently. Like Mary, Dorcas, and Marlene. They were all nice. Loved the book club that was set up. It was weird though two of the three were athletes. Nevertheless life working in the cafe continued into mid April. The shop had been open for three months. A good start.
