emporio awoke to someone whispering in his ear.
"hey.. 'porio, wake up.. we have a surprise for you."
emporio slowly sits upright, rubbing his eyes.
"..weather..?"
the blue eyed man nodded and ruffled emporio's hair.
"come here, we've got a surprise for you."
weather picks him up, smiling as emporio nuzzles into his neck.
"i know you're sleepy, but i promise it'll be worth it."
the two made their way into the living room. they were met with the grinning faces of jolyne, anasui, f.f, and ermes.
f.f had their head on anasui's lap and jolyne and ermes were cuddling next to them.
"are you guys ready?"
”yep!!”
weather walked to the kitchen and set emporio on the counter.
”close your eyes, okay?”
emporio did as he said and felt even more confused as he heard shuffling and muffled giggling.
”what’re you guys doing..? am i in trouble??”
jolyne gasped.
“of course not, love! just keep your eyes closed okay?”
emporio nodded and waited patiently.
he then heard ermes on his right side whisper.
”open your eyes!!”
he did so and gasped.
in front of him was jolyne and anasui holding presents, f.f holding a cake, weather on his left side with a noisemaker, and ermes on his other side holding the same thing.
the adults in the room began singing Happy Birthday and his eyes widened in realization.
”IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!”
they finished the song and laughed at his exclamation.
”you forgot?!” f.f said while giggling.
”i can’t believe that- you’re a riot, kiddo.” anasui chuckled while ruffling his hair.
“wanna blow out the candles?” weather said, smiling softly at him.
emporio nodded and weather picked him up so he could blow them out.
emporio blew out the candles and everyone clapped.
”happy birthday, ‘porio!!”
f.f sat the cake down on the counter and cut slices for everyone while ermes got plates.
once everyone finished their cake, it was time to open presents.
jolyne got emporio a sewing kit. his hat was getting worn out and jolyne offered to teach him how to sew.
ermes got him a baseball signed by his favorite Cubs player. he screamed and tackled her in a hug when he saw the signature.
f.f got him a crab plushie. he giggled when he saw it and promised them he would sleep with it every night.
anasui got him tickets to a baseball game he’s been talking about. he screamed even louder when he saw it and sat in anasui’s lap for the remainder of opening presents
and last, but certainly not least, weather got him a wii.
the group played on the wii until emporio had to go to bed.
f.f, ermes, and weather volunteered to clean up while anasui and jolyne put emporio to bed.
the three went to emporio’s bedroom, read him two stories per usual, and then laid with him til he fell asleep.
”did you have a good birthday, emporio?” jolyne said, kissing his forehead
the aforementioned boy nodded, too exhausted to speak.
anasui chuckled, running his fingers through emporio’s hair.
soon enough, he couldn’t keep his eyes open for much longer.
the two adults noticed and slowly got out of the bed.
“goodnight emporio.. sweet dreams. we love you.”
”..mm.. goodnight mama.. goodnight papa..”
jolyne gasped and looked at anasui with a surprised expression, he returned it.
”did he just..? he just..!”
jolyne couldn’t hold in her excitement and hugged anasui tightly.
“did you hear that, ana?”
”yes jojo, i heard it!”
the two walked out of emporio’s room, smiling and chatting about nothing in particular.
needless to say, it was a great day for everyone.
