Chapter Text
"Jagi, now you and I will be together forever."
****
It only took three days.
It only took Woo Junyeong three days to find out everything he needed to know from Lee Nami, the woman who lost her phone on the bus. And if everything goes according to his plan, it'll take another two days to complete his little game. He'll have another phone to add to his many collections and then he'll go off hunting for more prey. The number of people who lose their phones is insane, they should be more careful otherwise they might be roped into some pretty nasty situations. Just like what Lee Nami was going to experience at the moment. Now, usually, Junyeong isn't this reckless, why on earth would he stalk his prey around when he can watch them on the camera of their phones?
But this time he just had to see this situation play out in real-time. Junyeong sat a few away from the company Nami works from. He blends in with the crowd well, wearing casual clothes and sitting on a bench with his earbuds in, looking down at his phone. Everyone walking by was busy among themselves to even glance his way, let alone catch a glimpse at his phone screen to see what he was watching.
Junyeong watched on his phone as Lee Nami tries to explain herself to her boss. But unfortunately, the explanation wasn't going to revive the company so it was no use. Even if Nami's boss believed her, what difference would it make? There wasn't much to see from the angle Nami has her phone, all Junyeong could see were her colleagues. However, with the audio and the tone of her voice, he was able to picture exactly what expression his victim was making. Junyeong looked away from his phone for a moment as he dug his hand into his bag that was sitting at his side. He took out his yellow notebook and his pen just when he suddenly heard a high-pitched yelp come from his phone.
Jungyeong looked up in time to see Nami being thrown out of the company by her throat and harshly tossed to the ground. The small commotion even made some bystanders nearby look and point at the altercation. A small quirk of a smile appeared on his lips as he watched the defeated expression painted on Nami's face. He looks back down at his lap and gripped his pen tightly as he crossed out Nami's boss from his list. He just has one more person to get rid of and he already has a general idea of how he was going to get rid of her.
Nami eventually stands up from the ground and walks mindlessly into the busy crowd where she stands around for a bit. Not long after, a familiar figure shows up in front of her. Junyeong watches on and gently traces the name on his notepad with his pen. Drop dead gorgeous aka Jeong Eunjoo, lee Nami's best friend. After observing Eunjoo comfort her friend, Junyeong decides it's time to leave.
He saw what he wanted to see.
There was no use for him to follow the two women around. Shoving his notepad and pen back into his bag, Junyeong stands up from the bench and places his phone into the pocket of his pants. He fixes his hat firmly over his face as he begins to walk away. However, just when Junyeong was going to walk in the opposite direction from where his victims were, a sudden flood of uneasiness coursed through his body. He pauses in his steps and looks around his surrounding. This was a recognizable feeling, one that he once became accustomed to before. This feeling made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up straight. This feeling of being watched. Junyeong was being watched. He looked around, trying to catch anyone looking his way or even staring off in his general direction.
But no one even gave him a glance.
Junyeong frowns deeply as he slowly turns around again. Still feeling extremely skeptical, he disappears into the crowd.
Why was he feeling paranoid all of a sudden?
****
Proud.
If he had to describe how he felt in one word; it would be proud.
His greatest creation, his masterpiece was making the most beautiful and magnificent art, he has ever seen. If only he could embrace him and whisper nothing but sweet things into his ear. But all he could do for the time being was watch from afar as he did his business and prepare himself for his final game. His Jagi has certainly evolved. He started off as a feisty and hungry little caterpillar and got scared into a cocoon where he attempted to hide away from who he truly was. But with a bit of pushing and necessary tactics, eventually, he broke out of his cocoon and became a ravenous Papilio Antimachus that spreads out its large wings over his unassuming prey.
His Jagi has undoubtedly transformed wonderfully. Now he can watch as the deadly yet captivating carnivorous butterfly flies and hunts over his unassuming prey.
Cruel, unmerciful, and completely heartless.
Yes, he was very proud. Very proud indeed.
From the building he stands on, watching over his Jagi, he notices how his sweetheart abruptly pauses in his movements. He watches as his Jagi suddenly turns around and looks at his surroundings with squinted eyes. A large and toothy grin spreads onto a pair of red lips as his darling slowly turns back around while rubbing the back of his neck. The Papilo Antimachus disappears within the crowd of ordinary insects and goes off to begin his hunt all while watching his own back closely.
Oh, dear...
Jongwoo-ah...
Are you feeling paranoid?
