Typical Amy

Summary:

Amy is in love with the student council president but there's this someone who's taking her away from her.

Work Text:

Leaving the room, the other student council members waved at Marcy.

“See you later, president!”

“Thank you for letting us out early, president!”

“Undeserving.” Amy grumbled, peeking from behind the wall. When the girls passed by her and didn’t even give a cursory glance, she glared at them and growled. Those girls weren't appreciating Marcy enough. Also, how dare they leave her alone like that. It's sickening how happy they were to leave that student council room. But... Now that they're gone, it was the perfect time for Amy to have some alone time with Marcy!

She beamed and leaped out of her hiding place to greet the student council president.

“Hi Marcy! Massive coincidence to see you here!” Amy waved.

“This is the student council room after all, you should expect me to be here often.” Marcy said.

“Oh really? I didn’t notice where I was heading to!” Amy slapped the back of head and laughed awkwardly.

“Typical you.”

“Typical me!”

They shared giggles, with Amy’s being too over the top.

“It’s good to see you Amy, but I have to continue doing, you know, student council stuff. I’ll text you later.” Marcy was about to head inside until Amy grabbed her by the arm.

“I can do student council stuff with you.” Amy offered.

“No thank you, I’m fine.” Marcy tried to escape from Amy’s grip, but it was too strong. Amy had that bright smile on her face that Marcy knew all too well. She had it every time she already set her mind on something. Marcy first saw it when the girl applied to join the underwater living club and delegating to be their mascot. Seeing that smile alone, she already knew she couldn’t appease her to not do student council work with her, but the least she could do was try.

“Why not?” Amy asked.

“Because you’ll just distract me if you’re in the room.” Marcy said, not really thinking about how she phrases things. Amy blushed hard and turned away to hide her face.

“I won’t be distracting, I promise! I-I’ll be your unofficial second secretary just for today!” Amy felt her heated cheeks with her hands. They won’t go away. The redness wouldn’t go away. Out of nowhere, Dani popped up with a smuggest look on her face.

“What are you two love birds up to?” Dani nudged the two of them.

“Nothing!” Amy squeaked. Love birds? Did she just say love birds? While Amy was practically dying inside, Marcy just chuckled it off.

“Is this another coincidence or do you have business to be here, Danielle?” Marcy asked.

“You bet I do. I’m here to advocate an idea of mine. A club idea.” Dani tipped her backwards cap and grinned. Whatever her idea was, she seemed to be proud of it.

“Ah, perfect timing.” Marcy opened the door fully for them, “The student council stuff I was referring to earlier was approving or waiving club applications and requests.”

“Sweet, thanks Marcy!” Dani skipped inside and immediately settled herself on one of chairs on the round table at the center of the room full of desks and organized piles of papers. Neat and professional like a businessman’s office.

“Whoa you wouldn’t expect to see a more ‘student councily’ room than this.” Dani said while playing with her chair. Chuckling at the remark, Marcy sat across her and pulled a bunch of papers to her spot.

“I reorganized the room myself and embellished it with my personality. I’m glad you noticed the student council atmosphere I was aiming for.” Marcy said.

“This place just screams Marcy in bold capital letters, you get what I mean?”

“Thanks. I didn’t know I did such a good job organizing the room.”

Amy could only watch in jealousy as the two talked to each other so casually. She still couldn’t believe that Marcy let Dani in without hesitation while she had to convince her into letting her come in. Pouting, Amy plopped herself at the nearest seat neat Marcy and pulled her chair closer to hers. She crossed her arms and hissed.

“Well, I think it doesn’t scream Marcy.”

“Ooo, a contrarian are you, Amy?” Dani raised a brow.

“Can you explain your reasoning?” Marcy asked.

“Marcy is more than just a student council president. If you’re friends her, you’d know.”

“Oh, my bad! I didn’t mean it like that.” Dani folded her hands together and gave a slight bow in apology. Amy wasn’t pleased.

“I just think Marcy is a neat and professional person. Like an average businesswoman!” Dani added. The word ‘average’ didn’t sit well with Amy, but Marcy seemed to not pay any mind.

“It’s fine, Danielle. Why won’t we just change the subject?” Marcy said.

“Yes, let’s!”

This only frustrated Amy even more. She wanted Dani to at least be more apologetic or less enthusiastic. Better yet, she and that stupid cap of hers should just leave the room but at this rate she probably wouldn’t.

“About your club idea,” Marcy started, “What are you proposing to me?”

Did she just say ‘propose’?! The only person who’s gonna propose to her is—

“Ninjutsu club. The lack of ninjas here is disturbing. I’ll be the sensei that teaches the students how to backflip properly!” Dani said.

“Aren’t you in a club already?” Amy snarled.

“There’s no bad reason for me to join another one, let alone start one.” Dani said. “So, what do you say, prez?”

“As long as it doesn’t disrupt your studies, I don’t see why not.” Marcy smiled. Dani cheered, fisting the air while Amy sulked in her seat. Amy couldn’t believe that such a stupid idea like that was given sanction to, but she also should never doubt Marcy’s judgment.

“What’s the matter, Amy?” Marcy asked.

“Nothing.” She grumbled. With a grin, Dani took her chair, even though there were many others at that table, and scooted herself next to Marcy and her pile of paper.

“Are all these club applications that needs your approval?” Before Marcy could say anything, Dani fished a sheet from the pile in curiosity and read what it said. She leaned shoulder to shoulder with Marcy as Amy glared daggers at her from the other side.

“Let me see… The rocket science club?” Dani said. All three of them squinted at the paper in disbelief.

“This club is already approved, but they are requesting in a fifty percent increase in club funds and a brand new Tesla for transportation.” Marcy mumbled.

“Marcy, are you going to accept this?” Amy squinted in disgust.

“Of course not. This is outrageous.” Marcy sighed. She requested the paper from Dani and stamped “rejected” in big red capital letters on it before putting it on the side.

“Next one!” Dani pulled another paper from the pile.

For the next half hour, all they did was reject ridiculous club applications or requests and approve only a few. There was the gorilla club which wanted to have a real-life gorilla as a club pet, and of course that was a hard rejection; Marcy recommended them to buy or make a life-sized cardboard cutout of a gorilla instead. And then there was the firefighter club which requested to burn the theater stadium so they could put it out as mock practice; Marcy then recommended whoever made that idea to be sent to therapy.

Amy and Dani laughed at out how brutal Marcy was, but the student council president snickered and responded with “I’m simply being honest.” Seeing Marcy smile made Amy smile too. It was obvious that the president was enjoying their company. Amy couldn’t imagine how boring it would be for Marcy if she’d done this alone.

“Last one.”  Dani snatched the last sheet of paper and slid it over to Marcy for her to read. Amy had all eyes and ears on this one because she was there when her club leader made this form.

“Rejection.” Marcy was about to stamp it until Amy pulled her hand away.

“Why? I think the club really needs the fund increase.”

To Amy, Marcy looked the most intimidating when for some magical reason her glasses turn jaded. She couldn’t see those pretty irises of hers, or the pairs of raven black that showed so much more emotion. Marcy leaned her back against the backrest and cleared her throat.

“State any other reason besides for ‘research purposes.’” Marcy uttered.

Amy stumbled in her words. She couldn’t form anything coherent. Dani glanced at the two girls with widened eyes, not going what’s going on until it finally hit her.

“Amy, aren’t you part of the Underwater Living club?” Dani said. Amy bobbled her head yes.

“Why aren’t you approving it?” Dani shifted on her chair to face Marcy.

“I shouldn’t be biased on my approvals simply because it benefits a close friend of mine.” Marcy said.

“Ah, I see what’s going on here.” Dani smirked and fingergunned at the president.

“You’re the president, you want it fair for everyone. It must be hard to make unbiased choices that benefits your friends, and when you do make your choice, you end up giving them the short end of the stick. It’s like choosing to be fair during valentine’s day and handing over complimentary chocolate to your other classmates and teachers, but you give none to your lover because you don’t want your relationship to be obvious to everyone.” Dani explained.

Marcy placed a hand on her chin and pondered. While gears on Marcy’s head turned, Amy’s shut down completely. Amy’s face was so red that she turned away to hide it. It’s implied that she and Marcy were the lovers from the analogy; the implication went over Marcy’s head but then rammed over to Amy’s chest.

“I see what you mean.” Marcy replied and scanned through the request form on her hand again. Amy and Dani were on the edge of their seats, watching Marcy eyes spring from left to right as she read the request form. A few seconds of silence, and then Marcy reached for the approval stamp and gently pressed it on the form. Amy and Dani exchanged looks and squealed.

“Thank you for being here with me, you two.” Marcy stood from her chair and organized the pile of paper before stacking it on her desk. She settled in her new spot and assembled her laptop. Marcy continued with her duties, leaving Amy and Dani alone for a moment.

Eyes watery, Amy suddenly leaped towards Dani and gave her a huge hug. Their chairs flew as the two impacted on the floor.

“Wh— Amy?”

“Thank you so much!” Amy sniffed and tears flowed down her cheeks.

“Hey, no problem. But you’re kinda overdoing it!” Dani said.

“I looked at you as the scourge of the earth and I’m sorry!’

“You, what?”

From there on out, Dani couldn’t understand what Amy was saying. She patted her on the back and maybe a little pet on the head as well. After a minute Marcy returned to them with the most confused look on her face.

“What happened over here?” Marcy asked.

“She’s just very glad the request from her club was approved.” Dani chuckled.

“Typical Amy.” Marcy shook her head, smiling.

“Typical me…” Amy sniffled.

Amy still couldn’t forgive herself for antagonizing Dani and her now not-so-stupid cap so much. She wanted to apologize to her even more, but they were too busy having fun doing more student council stuff with Marcy. Maybe she should send her an “I’m sorry” gift tomorrow while they do more student council stuff, if Marcy would allow them of course.
