Work Text:

Ingrid and Sylvain were on a special mission on behalf of the knights of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus. The two were ambushed by bandits on their way back to the kingdom. While outnumbered, they fought with all their might, hoping that the villager they sent with Sylvain's horse would be able to deliver their call for help to the nearest post monitored by Ashe.

The bandits had the knights, and Ingrid's pegasus, backed up to the edge of a plateau. The two were side to side with Ingrid closest to the edge.

Ingrid could tell that neither she nor Sylvain were going to be able to break through the wall of bandits. Judging by the sounds of Sylvain's lance hitting the enemy and his ragged breathing, she knew she had to get them out of there soon.

Ingrid shouted to Sylvain, all while staying focused on the battle, "Do you trust me?"

"Of course I do! Why? What are you thinking?" He responded.

"On my signal, take my hand!" Ingrid said.

A few arrows and magic blasts came towards them and knocked the bandits down. The cavalry had arrived; the Blue Lions had finally come.

"Now!" Ingrid yelled as she grabbed Sylvain by the hand, and dragged him to her pegasus, lifting him up onto the animal before getting on herself.

Once they were on, Ingrid had her pegasus fly them from the edge and make their way towards their friends.

"Ingrid, please land us!" Sylvain shouted.

"We're not out of danger yet." Ingrid said.

"Seriously, I need down. I can't do this. I'm going to be sick." Sylvain begged.

At that, Ingrid sped up her pegasus.

Later, once everyone had been healed, Ingrid and Sylvain were waiting for Dimitri to debrief them.

"How can you ride a horse but not a pegasus?" Ingrid asked.

"It's the heights. If I fall off my horse, I'll survive. Also your pegasus flies fast." Sylvain said.

“Yet you trusted me and my pegasus.” Ingrid said.

“Of course I would. Ingrid, I trust you with my life.” Sylvain said.

“I’m honored to be your friend, Sylvain.” Ingrid replied, holding back her true emotions.

“Ingrid, I love you and not just as a friend.” Sylvain confessed.

“I love you too, Sylvain.” Ingrid said.

The two slowly lean into each other, lips meeting in a tentative kiss. When they break away shortly after, Sylvain reaches a hand up to cup Ingrid’s face.

The second kiss, Ingrid initiates it. The third kiss, Sylvain does.

The two move from light pecks on the lips to more passionate kisses. It’s when the two are making out, with Ingrid on top of Sylvain, that the two hear a familiar deep voice speak up.

“Do I need to come back later?” Dimitri asks, face flushed red as he stares at a spot on the ceiling.

The two respond in unison.

“Yes!” Sylvain exclaimed.

“No!” Ingrid responds.

“I’ll leave you two alone. I’ll be back to debrief in two hours.” Dimitri said and walked out of the room.

“If you’re going to court me, you’ll have to get used to riding on a pegasus.” Ingrid said casually.

“It’s okay, I trust you, Ingrid.” Sylvain said, repeating his earlier sentiments.

“I trust you, too.” Ingrid said.
