The Beginning

Summary:

Ouyang Zizhen noticed something about Wei Wuxian and Wen Ning. Well, he maybe not entirely wrong with his hunch.

Notes:

Hello! Nice to meet you all :)

This is my first time writing so hopefully you will tolerate this absurd idea of mine xD

Enjoy reading and have fun!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“A-Ning, have you been visiting Zewu-jun?” Wei Wuxian carelessly asked.

“Huh? Why?”

“Nothing. It's just that some radishes were talking about seeing a mysterious man in black coming out from Zewu-jun’s quarters backyard,” he shrugged.

“Well, gongzi. To be honest, I have been meeting Zewu-jun for tea? I swear I did not mean to hide anything from you,” Wen Ning said. If the fierce corpse can blush, Wen Ning’s face will be all pinkish red right now.

“A-Ning, stop calling me gongzi. I’m not a young master anymore,” Wei Wuxian playfully rolled his eyes. Wen Ning sheepishly smiled.

“Wei-qianbei! Hanguang-jun is looking for you!” shouted Lan Jingi when their quartet spotted them.

“Aiya Jingyi, no shouting in Cloud Recesses, remember? And why are all of you here? Aren’t you supposed to be in class now?”

“But you do shout most of the time. I guess residents here are used to shouting. And Hanguang-jun ended the class early,” shrugged Lan Jingyi.

“Aish, this boy! Not respecting your senior anymore, huh?” Wei Wuxian hit Lan Jingyi’s head with Chenqing.

“Xian-gege, careful,” Lann Sizhui softly said. Wei Wuxian grinned.

“Aiya, my forever dutiful son. Lan Zhan really brought you up well,” praised Wei Wuxian before proceeding to ruffle Lan Sizhui’s hair.

“He’s your other father but you still call him Xian-gege? Aren’t you supposed to call Wei-qianbei a-die or diedie or papa or anything other than gege?” asked Ouyang Zizhen.

“Xian-gege is Xian-gege even though he married Baba,” Lan Sizhui shrugged, in the Lan way.

“Dajiu, you better be careful or Jiujiu will have my legs broken instead of yours. And don’t forget your visit to the healer later. Hanguang-jun has been waiting for you,” Jin Ling said after all the commotions.

“Fine. Fine! Seems like all my radishes are worried about me. Alright, I’ll take care of myself and surrender myself to the healer. I swear A-Yuan, I’m just having a stomach bug! Nothing serious! Grandmaster Lan will surely be mad if he knew Lan Zhan finished class early just because I’m not feeling well. Anyway, I better go before Lan Zhan comes here himself. A-Yuan, look after your Ning-shushu, okay?”

And with that, Wei Wuxian skipped to meet his husband. Seriously, he just had a minor stomachache but his husband, the forever caring husband, had to end the class early so that he could bring Wei Wuxian to the healer. At the thought, Wei Wuxian smiled and skipped happily. Some of the Lan disciples greeted him on the way and he replied to them with a beaming smile.

“A-Yuan, is Wei-gongzi sick?” Wen Ning asked once Wei Wuxian was out of his sight.

“Yeah. He’s been complaining about stomach cramps for days, but I think nothing should we worry about. Xian-gege always eats something weird and then gets himself a stomachache,” said Lan Sizhui.

“Dajiu is always like that. Never think about his health,” sighed Jin Ling.

“I guess he’s living his life. You know, he died at a very young age,” added Lan Jingyi.

“Ning-gege, are you feeling well?” asked Ouyang Zizhen out of the blue. Since whatever happened, they start to call Wen Ning as Ning-gege instead of other names. Well, the only exception is for Lan Sizhui because Wen Ning is his uncle.

“Huh? I never felt sick since I’m like this?” Wen Ning pointing to his own body. Fierce corpse never gets sick. Plus, he is THE ghost general.

“I know but something about your aura is off. It’s like my a-niang when she was pregnant,” he offhandedly comments. “Wei-qianbei also gives off the same aura just now but maybe I’m wrong. So nothing to worry about,” he added before innocently smiling.

“Zizhen! You give me a fright! I know Yunmeng Jiang motto is to attempt the impossible but to think MY dajiu is pregnant,” Jin Ling shuddered. “It is weird!” he added.

“Why is that weird? It is just that he will have a ‘pregnant belly’ like other women,” argued Lan Jingyi.

“Stop it Jingyi! I don’t want to imagine it!” shouted Jin Ling in retaliation.

Meanwhile, Lan Sizhui was carefully observing his uncle's reaction. To be honest, there was something odd about Ning-shushu. He looked more relaxed and softer and somehow, Lan Sizhui can feel some kind of maternal aura from him.  And he felt the same with Xian-gege for the past few months. Maybe whatever Ouyang Zizhen said moments ago was not entirely wrong.

“Lan Zhan!” said Wei Wuxian upon seeing his husband.

“Wei Ying,” Lan Wangji kissed Wei Wuxian’s forehead in lieu of greeting him.

“Lan Zhan! Lan Zhan! I think your brother has an affair with Wen Ning!” Wei Wuxian said.

“Wei Ying, Xiongzhang is in seclusion. Nobody can visit him,” said Lan Wangji.

“But, whoever has his permission to visit, can visit, right? Like me, you, A-Yuan and Grandmaster Lan,”

“Wei Ying, he’s an Uncle to you too,” Lan Wangji softly reprimanded. They were walking hand in hand towards the Healer Pavillion.

“I know but it’s awkward to call him Uncle when I was the one who stole his most treasured cabbage,”

“Wei Ying has to try, to familiarize yourself with calling Uncle as ‘Uncle’,”

“I know! I know! Give me some time, will you?” pouted Wei Wuxian.

“Wei Ying has all the time now so Wei Ying does not have to worry,” Lan Wangji softly smiled at his husband.

“Ah! My dear husband. If you keep smiling like that, I will melt on the floor,”

“Then I’ll freeze you in the Cold Pond and I will have Wei Ying again,”

“Lan Zhan!”

Some of the Lan’s elders smiled upon seeing the couple. If previously they were not that welcoming to Wei Wuxian, now they are entirely fond of him, regardless of his rambunctious energy. Besides, their Second Jade is a lot more expressive and everybody loves the fact that Lan Wangji is indeed capable of smiling and joking around. So the presence of Wei Wuxian more or less is a blessing rather than a curse.

They peacefully enter the Healer Pavillion. Wei Wuxian was adamant that he is fine, not sick at all. Just a normal stomach ache and nothing else. But since his husband is Lan Wangji, the Chief Cultivator, an heir to the Gusu Lan Sect, Wei Wuxian had to follow a thorough examination because no Lan Healers dare to deny his husband's request for a thorough check-up. Well, one day, he ended up in Healer Pavillion due to food slash ink poisoning, but it was not entirely his fault! His sleep deprived mind thought that the ink bar was some sort of chocolate bar. He was almost banned from using any stationery because of that!

“Lan Zhan!” he groans. “Do we have to do this?” he asked again.

“Mn. Wei Ying should. Until the healers give their diagnosis, only then I can rest assured and be at ease,”

“Ughh. Fine, Lan Zhan. I’m doing this because I love you so much and I don’t want you to worry about it,” Wei Wuxian said. “Please do whatever you need with me,” to the healer, he said.

Lan Zhan gives his husband a concerned but fond smile.

Wei Ying smiles back, telling his husband everything is fine, everything will be fine.

Well, something is bound to be wrong semewhere when it involves Wei Wuxian, isn’t it?
