Chapter 1: An accident

Chapter Text

It's been a while since the last time when Miles stayed at Hobie's place. A lot has changed, like Gwen moved back to her dad's, leaving one of Hobie's rooms empty. Then Miles moved back in, taking up the room again.

At first Miles didn't take it seriously considering the last time he stayed at Hobie's was a pure accident. He was trapped in an entirely different universe, his watch broke, he knew nobody but Hobie, so it's natural for him to crash at Hobie's place.

But then it became a thing.

The second day after the first time he crashed at Hobie's, Miles returned to his universe but immediately found something wrong. He accidentally left the web shooter of his left hand at Hobie's apartment.

When he tried to contact Hobie through the watch, Spider-punk on the other side cut off the signal without surprise.

……Great. He's guessing Hobie's probably be sleeping and absolutely hates everything that would make a noise at this time.
So Miles took the liberty of dropping by without asking.
It's not like he's stealing anything , he's just gonna make a quick stop at Hobie's place, find his web shooter, grab it and go back to his universe. Hobie wouldn't even notice considering he's probably still sleeping. Or fighting the bad guys which is even better for he wouldn't be home.
Nothing can possibly go wrong, right?

.....Right?

.............…………………………………
Miles opened the portal and found Hobbie's apartment from memory; apparently he couldn't get in by ringing the doorbell, so Miles' eyes moved to a drainage pipe off to the side--

Hobie lived on the 15th floor. For the normal person to climb up from the pipe to the 15th floor is obviously impossible.Unless you're some kind of super man. Or Spider-Man.
Miles' lucky to be the second one.

He carefully climbed up to the 15th floor without making a single sound, the he lifted up the window trying to enter.

Everything seems fine. So far.
Miles carefully rolled into the window, and his wrist was accidentally caught in the eaves of the window.A slight sound of cracking came through. If it were any other time maybe Miles would have realized something was wrong, but now his nerves were on high alert and he just hoped the noise just now hadn't woken up Hobie.

The breathing in the room was still even.

Miles' hanging heart dropped a little; he began to concentrate on looking for his web shooter; nothing on the floor, maybe he left in the living room——wait, he remembered. It's definitely on the bedside table.

Miles sidled in the direction towards the bedside table. He could hear the sound of even breathing getting closer to him, which meant he was still safe and Hobie was still sleeping; his hand felt for the nightstand just as his fingertips touched something like a bracelet-

His wrist was secured to the nightstand by webs. And his whole body cannot make a move due to his trapped wrist.

"Look what we've got here. "
In the darkness Hobie slowly sat up, his voice sounding soft and dangerous:"A burglar. "

Turns out he was not asleep this whole time. Miles didn't even think about why Hobie didn't catch him the moment when he entered. He was busy trying to get rid of those webs off his wrist while saying hello to the owner of the house.
"Hey Hobie, what's up man...thought I'd...you know, drop by, heh heh...a-and see how you doing man, wow you seem good."

Why is Hobie's web so hard to detach??

"So you just decided to drop by, at 2 a.m. without asking, just to see how I was doing?" Hobie raised his eyebrows in doubt. But he didn't say anything, or turned on the lights.

Hobie just leaned over all of a sudden, which gave Miles a little startle, and gently took Miles' wrist to help him getting rid of the webs.

"Yeah...so.. I may have left my web shooter from last time when I got here. You ever happen to see'em?"

Miles finally spilled up about the reason why he's here. This is a bit away coz he just broke into Hobie's apartment. And got caught.

"Um-hm. "Hobie removed the last bit of spider webs and casually reached for something on the bedside table:"It's right here. Thought I'd send it back to you when I find it. But then I just wanna see when you found out how long would it take for you to come here."

"Thanks man."Miles took the bracelet and put it back on his left hand. Just when he was thinking about how to say goodbye decently, Hobie suddenly turned on the bedside lamp :" You know next time maybe you should just say it. Otherwise I would think that you come here coz you wanna see me. I would think you miss me."

Miles' mind began to race. He pondered why Hobie had said that. Is he flirting with him?? Why??

"Again, you've got two choices. "
Hobie walked over to Miles and casually put his arm on Miles' shoulder, he had just gotten up, so his body temperature was a little too high for Miles:"You could stay for the night, get up tomorrow because it's late. Or you can get back now."

"I dunno man...you know I hate to bother you so...yeah..bye? I guess?"
Miles carefully left Hobie's embrace and headed for the window; he didn't quite understand Hobie's intentions, so maybe he'd better go home first.

He stood by the window and pressed the transmitter Hobie had made for him - no response. Hobie was still sitting on the edge of the bed watching him, his lip ring and eyebrow studs glowing coldly in the moonlight. Miles laughed in embarrassment and continued to tap his wrist undaunted. After 5 minutes of struggling Miles suddenly realized what the cracking sound was when he climbed through the window. His watch must have bump into the window hood and broke. Broke again.

While the other side, Hobie still looks amused:"What's the matter spider boy, you don't wanna part with me, eh?"

Hobie definitely knows what happened. He just wanna tease him, Miles thinks to himself.

"....Can I borrow your watch?"
Miles tried the last choice he had.

"Sure. " Hobie turns his head sideways, "And if something happened in my world and I need help, I guess I'll probably just cross my fingers and waiting for the non-existent almighty's response without my watch."

"Okay okay," Miles surrendered, raising his hands to the air :" I guess I'll stay--Is the other room available?"

"Yeah it is empty. "
"But I still prefer you stay here." Hobie answered.

"You promise you'll wake me up or NOT turn off the alarm clock like last time?" Miles walked to the bed. Hobie does have a comfortable place:"Tomorrow's not Saturday or Sunday."

"Sure. Promise, yo ." Hobie answered casually.

"Also I think we need to upgrade this thing, " Miles lay beside Hobie, holding out his wrist while gesturing:"It tends to break too easy."

"It's a prototype. " Hobie answered while snuggling with Miles from behind. He doesn't look like the hug-lover type, but who knows. Miles didn't take it seriously. Besides he kind of enjoyed the warmth from Hobie.

"Yeah I get it ... I mean you're amazing making all these by yourself....you know I have some ideas might work...m-maybe--" Miles yawned, he really needs to sleep but he still managed to finish the sentence:"Maybe we could try'em out sometimes together."

Hobie didn't answer. Or he did, but Miles' just too tired to hear or respond.

…………………………………………………………

"Wake up Peter Pan. Duty calls."
Miles felt that something was tapping his shoulder;he reluctantly opened his eyes, the last second he was in a warm, cozy embrace, then the next thing he know is that he's head hurts like hell.

"What? What happened...." Miles looked at the time and made a complaint :"Man it's 3 in the morning--I've been asleep for less than an hour!"

"I know. Hate to get up, hate to answer, but here we are." Hobie held up the flashing red communicator in his hand to indicate:"We're needed. Though I hate come to the place cooperating with our so-called league members , I think you might be interested."

While Miles was already up soon as he heard the word "needed ". He jumped up immediately and grabbed his suit in the dark :"Okay okay I'm ready--let's go, huh?"

Hobie sighed in frustration. But he dragged Miles and opened the portal.
They're both dressed in their uniforms, ready to get into another fight. And they both didn't realized something went wrong. At least Miles didn't. For Hobie? Maybe he didn't, maybe he did. But he just doesn't care.

……………………………………………………
Miles' hand has been pricked seven times by the rivets on Hobie’s uniform, which is now wearing by Miles, so far. But he still endured the pain while shooting his web, trying to trap that villain they're fighting.

They're all here, Peter, Gwen, Pavitr, Jessica --and Miguel. Fighting a tough enemy.

And during the fight, Gwen was the first one who couldn't resist the temptation to ask. She turned to Hobie, who's dressed in a black suit:"Are you wearing Miles' uniform?"

"No." Hobie answered calmly while banging his guitar on the bad guy," I'm simply bleeding from my armpits."

"Hey!!"
Miles heard the conversation . He made a sound of protest in between swinging from building to building while holding the web thread:"You guys know I'm right here, right?? I can hear you talking about my uniform!!"

"Isn't it Hobie's uniform now??"
Pavitr jokes about Miles' reaction.

"What?? I think my uniform's great --Okay Fine! Then I'll say something about Hobie's--Now mine uniform! Like, these stupid rivets keep pricking me! And...his boots is heavy as a rock! And--and his jacket is--"

"Cool, huh?" Peter finished the sentence for Miles.

"Guys, focus!" It was Miguel. He tried to pull things back but it didn't work.

Jessica, who's now no longer pregnant, riding on her motorcycle while asking curiously:"Why are you two wearing each other's uniforms? It's kind of a not-so-good choice for Halloween costumes right? Or is this some kind of dress up?”

"Are you two dating? You guys are dating, right? Awww that's sooo cute--"Peter tried to make another joke about the two young Spider-Mans. But he was interrupted by Miguel:"Okay that's it! Listen I don't care who's wearing whose shoes or uniforms! Can we PLEASE just focus?!"

"Sure, sure..." Peter answered. "Just messing around a little. You know we need it Miguel my friend....you're making us too nervous!"

" IM MAKING US TOO NERVOUS??"
Miguel eventually arrives just in time after Hobie knocks the villain out for a few seconds with his guitar. He uses his web to trapped the villain, then turned around to glare at Peter:"Okay why don't we all hold a meeting, like right now to discuss why is the boy and the punk's wearing each other's clothes?!"

Under the situation, Miles can only helplessly do the last struggle:“It was a pure accident!"
