One fatal mistake

Summary:

Her vision went white, her ears started to ring, she thought she could feel the sticky red blood that was oozing out of her chest drip down and onto her bare legs but she wasn't sure. Her whole body just felt numb.

A voice called out over the buzzing in her ears "Luz, wake up!"

Work Text:

Luz couldn't beat Belos, she knew that.

He was the emperor of the boiling isles, a place full of magic and creatures that could kill her without a second thought after all so that was to be expected and she was just a fragile human as many of the inhabitants of the wonderful place she manged to find herself in, loved to remind her.

A human who managed to get captured by the emperor's covent, the very covent her mentor was constantly warning her about and was in hiding from, forcing Eda to sacrifice herself to save her and turn into that horrific beast that emerges whenever her curse acted up forever, run out of magic and at the rate Luz was going end up getting her killed. She was such an idiot.

A weak, dumb, reckless, burden of an idiot and everyone knew it.

Except one person who apparently didn't get the memo.

Red flesh like hands shot out of the tiled floor aiming directly for Luz, luckily though Owlbert was prepared and just barely dodged Belos' attack.

Owlbert was getting tired and so was she. Luz had to end this quickly or they would loose.

Luz shot a fire glyph at Belos to try and buy them some time to come up with a plan to stop him but instead of becoming a smoking dead body like she wished he would have, he melted into the floor causing the girl to loose side of him.

She scanned the throne room like a hawk looking for its next victim to kill but she was unsuccessful. Just as she thought maybe that did kill him, a long green tendril shot out from the left side of the throne room like a harpoon and cut right through her chest, the momentum of the attack sending her flying right through the titans heart, causing all the blood inside it to fall into her open wound and into her blood stream.

Her vision went white, her ears started to ring, she thought she could feel the sticky red blood that was oozing out of her chest drip down and onto her bare legs but she wasn't sure. Her whole body just felt numb.

Her vision flickered for a brief second to a creature who looked a lot like a grown up version of king but with a wierd smaller dark brown version of Hooty where one of their eyes should be. They were also wearing a purple bad girls covent T-shirt.

A voice, presumably the creature that she just saw provided that they weren't a figment of her dieing brains imagination, boomed through her head. It said " Luz, wake up!"

Her eyes shot open immediately after they said well more like commanded her eyes to do so. It was like the voice took control of her body leaving her no room to deny their request, not like she would have as she liked not being dead.

When she opened her eyes she saw Belos standing in the middle of the large throne room. His face quickly went from very shocked to confused to angry within seconds. Which was so unfair, why was he angry at her when he was the one who decided to fling her into the titans heart causing all the blood inside it to splatter all over the room making it look like a really bad paint job. Rude.

Once he got over his shock, he sent a tendril spell? (she honestly wasn't sure if it was a spell or if it was just something he could do as it came out of his body, which was as disgusting and disturbing as it sounded) at her again but it was like Luz' body was on autopilot as without the girl even thinking about it, she brought up a orange shield covered in glyphs from out of nowhere to block the mud like tendril.

Then she created a spell circle, (she would process and freak out about that fact later) focusing on picturing exactly what she wanted to cast, just like Eda had taught her.

Giant green thorny vines rapped around Belos squeezing him like a stress toy. He started to choke, beg, plead Luz to stop but she didn't, she wanted him to pay for trying to kill her mentor, her family. She didn't stop untill she saw bright red streams of blood, caused from the giant thorns, staining his fancy clothes and his head banged against his chest.

But she didn't end it there, she wanted to be 100% percent sure that monster was dead. She let the vines drop down onto the floor then casted a spell to spear him right in the chest just like he had done to her mere minutes ago.

A mix of blood and green sludge leaked steadily out of the gapping wide hole in his chest.

Luz felt an alaming amount of calmness come over her considering she had just killed someone, but it was like the voice from earlier was making sure she didn't care about it.

She was glad, she knew in any other circumstances she would be panicking and crying at the moment, she didn't want to feel even the slightest bit of pitty for that man.

Luz looked at the Emperor of the boiling isle one last time then ran off to save her family.

______________

Once she arrived at the petrification ceremony she saw Eda, in her owl beast form, slowly turning into stone while Lilith and King hide behind her.

Ignoring Kikimora completely, she quickly casted a fireball causing the thing that was casting the spell to burst into flames then explode after that no one dared go near them.

The crowd that was originally chanting to let Eda go went silent, as they saw who was behind the explosion even King, Eda and Lilith looked to stunned to speak, but Luz payed no attention to that as she pried open the golden coloured cage with ease and watched the people inside it step out looking shell shocked.

"L-Luz what..how.....what happened to you" King spluttered.

"What do you mean what happened to.....oh you mean the hole in my chest... I mean I haven't checked it yet but I think It's fine" Luz replied.

"No Luz, we're talking about your hot new look. Can I just say you are rocking the long hair, kiddo." Eda complemented

"What new......"

Lilith summoned a mirror for Luz to see herself in, and Eda was right she looked great. Her brown hair was longer falling down to her shoulders. Her sclera was completely black and her irises were a beautiful golden hue. She had a fluffy witches hat on that were similar colours to her witch's wool cloke with pale grey horns sticking out of it. Her arms and feet were covered in grey bones like an exoskeleton. The rest of her outfit was a combination of black and grey colours with a golden symbol on her chest that matched her eyes.

She quicly snapped out of her thoughts as she remembered that Eda was still half way petrified. She slowly walked towards her mentor and once they were touching heads she closed her eyes and began to humm softly bathing both her and Eda in a golden glow.

The hard pale rock slowly retreated until there was no more left of it on Eda's body, but Luz didn't stop there. She carried on humming and Eda started to turn into her normal self again.

Once finished, Luz opened her eyes and backed away, watching as Eda scanned over her body just like Luz did a few seconds ago.

After making sure her mother figure was ok and giving her and King the biggest bone crushing hug ever she turned back to the crowd of people.

She knew who gave her her powers and Luz thought that the people of the boiling isles deserved to know.

"People of the boiling isle" she exclaimed her voice booming even though she didn't have a megaphone.

"I am here to tell you that Belos is dead" The crowd started booing and calling her a liar but she knew she would change their minds after what she would tell them.

"I killed him using the powers the titan had blessed me with. The titan saw how Belos was manipulating you all into believing that he could speak to the titan but that's not true." Luz didn't know where these words were coming from but she knew that they were the truth.

"I know that it will be hard for you to believe me." she continued "But I'm not lying to you all. I am the titans chosen one not Belos, please you have to believe me."

She was still meet with some skeptical looks, which was fair, she supposed.

"Ok, you guys don't believe me that's fine but I'll prove it to you then."

She started casting a light spell and then lifted it into the air for everyone to see. Even though it was a simple spell everyone including those on the stage with her looked shocked at a human, who most people knew had to use a pen and paper to cast magic, casting magic just like everyone else.

She looked hopefully at everyone praying to the titan that that would convince them that she wasn't lying.

And it seemed to have worked as two people, she presumed was Willow and Gus, were chanting her name. The rest of the crowd quickly followed their lead and began chanting Luz as well.

Eda, with King on her shoulder walked up to Luz and with a proud smile on her face said "You did good kid."

"Well Eda, i couldnt have done it without your guys help." Luz replied

King wehed in agreement and then scampered onto Luz' shoulder and began to nuzzle into her fluffy hat.

" But don't you think I'm letting you off the hook about getting stabbed in the chest, kiddo"

"Yes, mom" Luz said jokingly.

The girl, despite knowing she had a hard talk to deal with when they went back to the Owl house, couldn't have been happier as she had never felt more at home then in that moment with her family.

"Oh and King, i'm pretty sure your a titan."

"Weh!?"

Notes:

Luz in the middle: humm this person kinda looks like king
Luz at the end: wait if that was the titan does that mean that kings also a titan? I should probably tell him like right now.
