Chapter Text
It didn't happen much, but there was an upper Kizuki meeting. The blue spider lily mission had been assigned to all demons, of course.
Douma was planning a party for all of the demons, he may have expected at least one or two of the demons to come, or maybe more hopefully. He had a cake, lights, food and separated the female corpses out! Just for Akaza. (If he did show up) Just a regular party in his domain of the infinity fortress. “At least Daki and Gyutaro would come, right?” Doma thought hopefully. The walls had been splattered with blood, which he realized he should have gotten off because Akaza doesn't like female blood. After making sure the room was set he started giving out the invitation notes to the upper-moons.
"I won't be able to come. I have a personal mission from master Muzan. I'm sorry douma," Kokushibou said in a sad tone or at least he attempted it that way. “I mean, 'it's better than not saying anything right?” Douma tried not to lose hope.
While some demons gave no response other demons had worse responses. “Maybe they were going somewhere? Hopefully,” Douma muttered quietly. He had gotten his emotions back and wanted to be liked and make more friends. Therefore he didn't even mention it in the invitation because he wanted people to trustfully come, not just because of that. “I mean, it wouldn't matter right? He had put the hours into the invitations and the beautiful design of each one could be seen easily! Flowers on that one, and skulls on another. It would only be 3 more hours to prepare and then people would come, right?”
The room was stunning and perfectly clean, there were ice sculptures everywhere and the room was decorated in colorful party decor.
People would start coming any minute now. Douma waited at the entrance to his domain. Almost an hour had gone by but no one came; no one at all. Not even Daki or Gyutaro. “ Maybe they’re just a little late right?” but after 3 hours of standing not one demon came. Did I mess up the invitations? No. I got them perfect. They must hate me,” Douma cried as tears ran down his face. Soon after he ran out of the infinity castle. Reaching a starlit forest he sat down under a tree before wiping his eyes.
That night Giyu was also planning a party for the hashiras. Even Iguro, he hoped, would come or at least one or two of the other hashiras, maybe more though. He had a cake, lights, food and bought some snake food if Iguro did end up coming. “At least Mitsuri will come, if she doesn't have a mission and Kocho might come. Right?” He thought, trying not to doubt himself. The walls were clean and decorated with paintings and party banners. So satisfied with the room he set off to give the party invitations one by one.
"I won't be able to come, I have a mission, I'm sorry Giyu!!!" Misturi Kanroji said with tears in her eyes and in a sad tone. Giyu thought it was a little better than not saying anything but still felt bitter. The same response came from the other slayers but Giyu didn’t lose hope. He had gotten enough courage to ask so someone must be willing to come. Hours of work had been put into the invitations making sure each had a distinct intricate pattern. “Only 3 more hours for him to prepare then and people would come, right?” Giyu muttered walking back to the mansion to find something to do as he waited.
People would start coming soon but even almost an hour later no one came. “Not even Kocho… but they're just a little late right?” 3 hours of quietly waiting at which Giyu started crying. Running out of the mansion he covered his eyes as he entered a forest. He wandered around a bit before making it to a clearing and a person nearby. The night sky seemed to be like an endless ocean dotted by fish as far as the eye could see.
“A Hashira?” Douma said, looking up to see a Hashira with black long hair. "Ca—can I sit next to y—you?" The Hashira had a mismatched haori and messy hair, and his eyes were wet from crying just like his own.
"s—sure!" Douma said happy enough to have anyone sit with him.
"W—why are y—you cry—crying?" Giyu said his black hair creating a dark curtain around his head unlike the silky silver hair of the demon beside him.
"I—I made a party for the rest of the uppermons, but no - no one came!" The demon cried out as the moon rose higher into the sky. "Th—ey hate me! I- just got my emotions ba-back too!" he said, rubbing his eyes as tears fell down.
"Wh— why are you crying?" the demon asked and finally managed to speak out as he looked at the saddened slayer.
"The other hashiras hate me. I also had a party and no one showed up!" He started crying and hugged the upper rank demon.
"I guess we are the same then... " he hugged the demon slayer and cried as well.
One hour later they finally let go of each other.
the slayer asked a question "What's y- your name?"
"Douma, What's yours?"
"Giyu Tomioka, do yo—you want to be friends?"
No one had ever asked to be his 'friends' with Douma and Douma could hardly believe it. Before he knew it the word “yes,” jumped out. Both found themselves smiling uncontrollably as the sun rose behind them. "Do you want to go talk in the mansion? The sun will be up soon." Douma said eager to maybe have his first playdate.
"Sorry but I don’t think the other demons would allow me in," Giyu replied sadly.
Since it was almost daybreak when the upper Kizuki demon left, giving Giyu a wave goodbye and a vow to come back soon. Giyu was sad because his only friend had to leave but they both knew they would meet again.
