Chapter Text
What is it that makes a heart break?
Not in the physical sense, more, what causes the heart to shatter into a million pieces, yet still be whole?
They called him Puer Ignis.
Child of Fire.
A mere child, forced to spend a life alone. An existence with no end in isolation. Golden hair, so bright it was many times compared to the sun, and a pain that burnt so deep it rivaled that of the flame that raged within him.
Born with the curse of isolation, the curse of sorrow, an image of despair.
At the age of 1025, the child reunited with his long-lost family.
He grew, developed, and gifted them with powers beyond imagination.
At the age of 1025, he joined his brother’s revolution to take back their home.
They lied to him and betrayed his trust.
Age the age of 1025, he broke.
When his best friend, and only lifelong companion passed, killed protecting the child from forces who wanted him for their own, he collapsed.
He fell to his knees and clutched the body of his best friend he could no longer heal in his shaking hands and screamed.
A scream of isolation, of sorrow, of despair.
He had lost his one and only true thing, the only good gift he had ever received.
His ‘gifts.’
His gift to always be thrown away.
His gift to never be wanted.
His gift to always be forgotten.
His gift to be alone.
His heart, shattered and dejected, gifted to beat forever.
What is it that makes a heart break?
