Chapter Text
In the vast darkness of outer space, a battle was taking place. A small transport vessel was fleeing from a much larger, more intimidating warship. Both ships firing green and red lasers at each other. This vessel was carrying a most precious cargo, and the being aboard the warship so desperately wanted this cargo.
Inside the warship we see a crew of robots manning their posts.
“Hull damage 20%. All systems still operational.” A robot said to his master.
In the captain’s chair sat a rather tall and intimidating alien. He had a humanoid body structure, a squid features, and evil red eyes. This was Vilgax, the conqueror of 10 worlds.
“I have come too far to be denied! The Omnitrix shall be mine! And there is not a being in the galaxy that dares stand in my way!” Vilgax declared as he slammed his fist into his armrest.
The alien warlord’s ship kept pursuing the cargo vessel, zooming past several planets in this solar system. They had reached the third planet from the sun when a well aimed shot from Vilgax’s ship destroyed the backside of the transport vessel.
“Their propulsion systems have been destroyed.” The robot said.
Vilgax grinned maliciously.
“Prepare to board! I want the Omnitrix now!” Vilgax ordered.
Then, in a last ditch effort, the transport vessel gave one final laser blast, directly hitting the control room of Vilgax’s ship. Then, a pod ejected from the transport vessel and began its descent to the green and blue planet bellow.
On Earth…
Luz Noceda, a human girl at the of age 10, had just finished with her part in setting up their camp site, them being her, her uncle Raymundo and her cousin, Lucia. They were all on a summer vacation long camping trip across the country, practically visiting every state, something both Luz and Lucia had been looking forward to nearly all year long. Luz specifically was exited to be spending so much time with her uncle Raymundo as he reminded her a lot about her father, Manny, with the two being so much alike it helped to ease Luz's still present heartache at the fact that he was no longer with her and her mami.
Luz shook her head a bit to refocus on her surroundings, specifically the beautiful green forest around her. Luz took a walk to get the lay of the land like how her uncle Ray and her papi always told her to do when out camping in a new area. Then as Luz was looking up she saw what looked to be an asteroid streaking across the mid afternoon sky.
“Huh, cool, I wonder where it will land?” Luz muttered to herself.
Then as if she had jinxed herself the asteroid suddenly changed direction and it was headed right toward her.
“Oh no.” Luz said with wide eyes.
Luz quickly ran to her left before the asteroid could hit anywhere near her. The asteroid didn't change direction again and continue it's sudden pursuit of Luz, instead it landed and created a 4 and a half foot deep crater about a dozen or so feet in diameter. Luz, unable to resist her curiosity, looked over the edge of the crater and into the center finding no asteroid but a pod that resembled a rolly poly bug rolled up. As Luz got closer it suddenly opened and revealed some watch looking device of unknown origin, glowing an electric green light.
Then out of nowhere as if the mystery device has a mind of it's own, it suddenly and without warning, opened itself up and suddenly like a Xenomorph facehugger, leaped at Luz, though instead of going for her head it latched onto her left arm. As the strange watch looking device locked onto Luz's wrist she immediately started freaking out, waving her hand around trying to get it off her. A few minutes later she calmed down a bit and started examining the weird watch, pressing a green button on the inside of the watch making the center piece rise up about an inch and a half and the logo on it changed from an hourglass shape to a green diamond like shape with the silhouette of some humanoid within it.
Luz's curiosity again getting the better of her, pressed the center piece down, unintentionally starting an activation process that kicked off a rapid chain reaction of changes to Luz's entire body.
Then. in what seemed like only a mere moments, Luz was a completely different looking person now, being completely on fire, having segmented glowing red hot rocks as what seemed to be skin, her 4 fingers now being 3 on each hand and she was now standing at roughly 5, 11".
“Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!! I'm on fire!!!” Luz freaked out in a deep and scratchy voice.
Luz, panicking, rolled around on the ground trying to put out the fire, only to stop after she got dizzy.
“Okay, well, that didn't do anything, but now that I think about it, I'm not feeling any pain from this fire, or feeling the heat I think. Hmmm, wonder what happened?” Luz said to herself.
Luz looked at her hands as she flexed her fingers.
“Hmmm, I wonder.” Luz muttered to herself.
Luz barley focused and easily made a fireball in her left hand.
“Aw yeah, nice!” Luz said.
Then Luz looks to her right hand and makes another fire ball in her right hand.
“Ha, easy! Now let's see what else I can do.” Luz said to herself.
Luz starts shooting blasts of fire and fire balls at nearby dead trees to caught up in the moment to think on the results of the growing fires in the background. Then Luz takes notice of the now quickly growing forest fire.
“Oh no oh no oh no! This is bad, this is bad, this is bad. Uncle Ray is gonna end me for this, let alone mami.” Luz panicked.
Meanwhile back at the campsite…
Lucia and uncle Raymundo took notice of the forest fire.
“Hmmm, that forest fire looks to be spreading quite quickly, we better go and get Luz just to be sure, come on Lucia.” Raymundo said.
“Right!” Lucia said with a nod.
Both uncle Ray and Lucia got a couple of fire extinguishers and set out to find Luz. As Lucia walked further and further into the forest she called out for her cousin.
“Luz!....Luz!! Where are you?!!” Lucia called out.
“Come on Luz, where are you, this is no time for games.” Lucia muttered to herself.
As Lucia was putting out small fires that were in her way as she continued through the forest she bumped into Luz from behind who was crouched down low trying to put out a fire with her hands. Both Luz and Lucia yelped at the same time scaring them both at the others sudden noise and both turned around seeing each other face to face.
“Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!” Lucia screamed at the sight of the Pyronite.
“Whoah! Whoah! Whoah, Lucia it's me, it's Luz!” Luz said trying to stop her cousin from screaming.
“Yeah! Right!” Lucia snarked.
Lucia quickly sprayed Luz with the fire extinguisher then swung it at her hitting Luz in the chest and knocking her down to the ground.
“Ohhh, my freaking head, man am I gonna feel that tomorrow, I bet Azura never had to deal with this from her family.” Luz groaned.
That moment caught Lucia off guard prompting her to speak up.
“Wait, Luz, is that actually you?” Lucia asked.
“Ah, I guess, I get the confusion, ask me a question only Luz can answer.” Luz answered.
“Okay, what's the last thing Luz every got from her dad?” Lucia asked.
“My first Azura book.” Luz answered calmly.
“Luz it really is you! What happened to you?” Lucia asked.
“Okay well first I saw this asteroid crash right near me only it wasn't actually an asteroid it was some sort of holding pod that had this weird watch looking thing inside of it. Then all of a sudden that weird watch looking thing attached itself onto my wrist then before I knew it I was this!” Luz answered as she gestured to her currently on fire form.
Lucia quickly looked Luz up and down, taking in Luz's new form.
“Soooooo, you're a fire elemental?” Lucia asked.
Luz quirked her head to the right a bit in thought.
“Huh, you know that comparison never occurred to me but yeah, I basically am.” Luz replied.
It was at that moment that uncle Ray decided to reveal himself having already overheard what Lu had said and it being enough to convince him that it was Luz. Uncle Ray stepped out from behind a nearby tree.
“Well she looks more like a type of alien to me.” Raymundo said.
“Uncle Ray! Oh thank god you're here, I'm not sure what to do!” Luz panicked.
“Well first of all let's all stay calm, nothing productive ever comes from losing your head.” Raymundo said.
Both Luz and Lucia took calming breaths to settle down.
“Good, now we first have to deal with this forest fire.” Uncle Ray said.
“You got a plan in mind dad?” Lucia asked.
“Yeah, what Luz will do is starve out the fire with a 2nd fire.” Uncle Ray answered.
“They’ll cancel each other out, right?” Luz asked.
“Exactly, now can you do it?” Uncle Ray asked.
Luz nodded her head.
“Definitely!” Luz answered with a smirk.
Luz then got to using her newfound abilities to quickly start a 2nd fire and just as her uncle Ray said it the two fires quickly choked each other out. Afterwards Luz, still transformed, was sitting with her Uncle Ray and Lucia around their camp fire when as Luz was worrying about the rest of her life like this all of a sudden in a red flash of light she was back to her human form.
Then Luz suddenly woke up from her dream recounting when she first got the Omnitrix five years ago.
As Luz fully work up she got out of bed, her mind still fresh with reliving the memory of when she first got the Omnitrix and that snowballing into a a whole bunch of other memories of times she went hero and transformed into one of her alien transformations, like Heatblast, Diamondhead, Cannonbolt, or arguably her favorite, Ghostfreak. Although that all changed after he....Luz cut off that train of thought before she got to lost down memory lane and got out of bed fully and went over and opened her closet. Luz dug through an old box in the very back that has several souvenirs from the summer she got the Omnitrix such as the headpiece to Dr. Animo's device, one of Charmcaster's little shrunken stone golems, a piece of Six Six's armor, the decorative coat of arms piece from a Forever Knight commander and several others, but at the very bottom, the Omnitrix itself. Luz picked up and held the Omnitrix closed her eyes for a moment, sighed and then placed it back in the box.
It had been five years since she had taken off the Omnitrix, five years since she had last used it, and five years since she made the decision to put her hero persona aside so as to better have a normal life. The type of normal life her mom wanted her to have and to continue having. It had definitely been a relief to her when she saw Luz take off the Omnitrix, and Luz was definitely glad she could bring her mom that sense of relief, especially after she had found out about everything that really happened over the summer.
Luz quickly got dressed and started out on her mourning cardio routine at the nearby park a few blocks down from her house. It was one of the many well instilled habits that her Uncle Ray had gotten her into as it's been very well proven time and time again to stay athletically active as she was so often caught in a bad situation when the Omnitrix would time out. But one of her current main reasons for her exercise upkeep was to help with her performance in her upcoming soccer game just after school today, especially as most of their plays against the enemy team required her to play the shooter.
After Luz had finished her mourning routine she was at school within an hour for her it was finally the last day of the school year with her final soccer game of the season right after school got out. Thankfully for Luz, school had gotten easier ever since her, heroic summer. as she referred to it as. Given how the stress of school work was nothing compared to the stress of saving the world multiple times in one summer. The school day passed Luz by fairly fast and before she knew it she was in the school locker room preparing for her soccer game.
Luz soon entered the field with her eyes aglow with determination as she grouped up with her teammates. Soon it wasn't long into the game before Luz's team had the enemy team on the ropes. Liz was currently in the process of maneuvering the ball into position to make the winning shot but Luz was having to pullout some fancy footwork to keep the ball out of the enemy's hands or well feet in this case. Luz in the end had to make a long pass to Soujia when she realized she was a bit too cornered to make her shot so she passed it to the next available player who thankfully made the winning shot.
The after party celebration went down at a local pizzeria, Anthony's, it was a good time for all, though Luz would be lying to herself if she said she wasn't 100% thrilled about going to a summer camp for like 95% of her summer vacation, she'd much rather go on another cross country trip with her Uncle Ray and Lucia, even if they didn't have the safe heroic adventures as before, at least they would be out of boring old Gravesfield where literally nothing exciting ever happened. Luz sighed as she made her way up the stairs to her room after getting back from the pizzeria.
The next morning after Luz had finished her mourning training routine she showered and then got to work packing her backpack and duffel bag for camp. As she was packing up her last minute odds and ends she just decided to on a Whim pack her Omnitrix as well, just in case, she told herself.
To be continued…
