Work Text:
“God, I want to die,” Chloe complained, throwing her satchel onto the floor and collapsing onto the sofa.
Marinette looked over from her sprawling position on the floor, some part of her mind wondering if Chloe’s business textbooks would damage their remarkably weak flooring.
“Uni-related, job-related, or heat-related?” Marinette questioned, returning to fanning herself furiously with a cheap paper fan.
Chloe watched as her skin adhered to the hot pleather couch before grimacing.
“Why are you on the floor?” Chloe questioned, prying her skin off the couch.
Marinette slowly blinked. “It’s hotter than Papa’s oven here, Chlo! This heatwave is the final straw! I can’t take living in a student apartment anymore. Shitty cooling, shitty heating, running water that doesn’t run, and an oven that I’m pretty sure is giving us monoxide poisoning.”
“Hey, this was your idea!” Chloe retorted, before affixing a mocking tone. “I’m Marinette and I want to be a cool university lesbian couple! Let’s move out! It’ll be so much fun!”
Marinette gasped and sat up.
“It was my idea for us to move out of home! Not…this!” Marinette said, throwing her hands up and collapsing back onto the floor. “And that mood board was purely theoretical!”
“Okay, let’s…let’s take five minutes and cool down,” Chloe replied, opening her phone.
“Cool down…” Marinette mindlessly repeated, slowly blinking.
“I’ve got a grand total of…twenty bucks, plus change. You wanna get delivery?” Chloe asked.
“Do they deliver dry ice?” Marinette questioned, flipping herself over so she faced Chloe.
“Oh for the love of— I’m calling Zoe. Maybe we can crash at her place until this heatwave is over,” Chloe said, standing up and moving to the other room.
