Work Text:
“... and remember: if something has this sticker on it, it isn't relevant to the riddles in any way. The same goes for any outlets and radiators. And: if something doesn't move easily then adding more force is not the solution.”
“Are you paying attention Bo? Not that we break something”, Damon asked with a little smile.
Bojan looked a bit offended about being singled out. “Don't you trust me?”
“Well…” Nace mumbled at the same time as Kris decided to step in: “There are many things we would gladly trust you with, but with the way he just emphasised these warnings it sounds like people ignore them quite often, so we are just making sure.”
“Well what about Maček? I wouldn't trust him not to break anything” Bojan accused.
Jure immediately defended himself. “I only break myself not the things around me” “And we have yet to find a way to stop him from doing that”, Jan chimed in.
“Now can we go back to listening to the instructions instead of bickering?”
“If you need a hint you can…”
A few minutes later the instructor closed the door behind them with an ominous click.
“Okay, where do we start?” Jure asked while he curiously looked around the room.
“We should spread out, scream if you find something”, Kris suggested.
Damon planted a little kiss on Kris cheek, causing him to blush, before he started helping the others in their search. “Great idea darling.”
Nace had just started investigating a drawer that wouldn't quite open, trying to figure out if it had some mechanism built into it, when Bojan suddenly let out a high pitched scream.
Jure immediately put his hand over Bojans mouth and Kris sighed. “I didn't mean you should actually scream!”
“Bojan licked my hand!” Jure shrieked while trying to wipe his hand on Jan's shirt “Hey, stop that!” The guitarist tried to back away, only to collide with Kris who was standing right behind him.
“I found a key” Bojan proudly proclaimed.
Damon took the key from him and eyed it sceptically. “I doubt that it fits into the door, that would be way too easy.”
“Yeah no, the door has a combination lock, we need a number”, Kris explained. Then his eyes fell on a cabinet with a small lock. “Does it fit that cabinet?”
Bojan took the key back out of Damon's hand and crouched down. The key fit perfectly.
Bojan threw his hands in the air in celebration and Jure hugged him from behind.
“As much as I love your enthusiasm, this was one out of many puzzles, so if you moved aside I could see what's inside this cabinet.” Kris grabbed a small piece of paper from inside.
Damon looked over his shoulder and exclaimed: “Ugh, math”
“That sounds like a job for Janči” Jure said and Kris nodded approvingly, before handing the paper to Jan.
Jan just stared at it for a second, seemingly deep in thought. After a minute Jure apparently got bored of waiting so he went over to Damon and attached himself to his back. “Hi” the photographer said grinning, before Jure started to attack his neck with little kisses.
“I think I figured it out, try 5823 for the lock” Jan said thoughtfully.
Nace fiddled with the lock for a second and then it sprung open. He turned around with a bright smile. “My boyfriend is a genius.”
“OUR boyfriend”, Bojan corrected.
Jan started blushing at the compliment and he put his arms around him when Nace pulled him in for a kiss.
Bojan pouted and complained: “I have five boyfriends and none of them are kissing or cuddling me. I feel a little left out.”
Kris rolled his eyes, but he was smiling when he leaned down to kiss Bojan.
When they pulled apart, Jan and Nace had started full on making out and Kris politely cleared his throat. “You are aware that there are cameras here and we are currently being watched?”
When they had all moved to the next room, the door suddenly fell closed with a bang and the lights went off. They all jumped at the sudden noise and Jure asked: “Is this supposed to happen?”
“Well some lamps are still on, so it can’t be a power outage”, Nace observed.
After the initial confusion they had gotten used to the darkness and started looking for more clues. Then the sounds started.
Normally Bojan wasn’t scared of the dark, or of “scary noises”, but for some reason, in this environment they really spooked him. “I thought you said this won't be scary, Krisko!”
“This room was rated as 8+” Kris deadpanned.
Damon and Jure giggled and Jan looked like he just realised something: “I think we need to match the sounds with these pictures!”
Half an hour later, they had reached the last room, but the time was running out. “We only have 12 minutes left! Come on, we need to make it!” Bojan basically pushed them all through the door.
Into an empty room.
“At least there isn’t much here that we have to search for a clue”, Nace remarked.
When Damon got the honours of unlocking the final door and it swung open easily, they all engulfed him into a group hug and shared some sweet kisses.
The instructor politely waited for them to break up again before he congratulated them.
“We have to do this again some time!” Bojan exclaimed happily once they left the building.
“Maybe an all ages one, so you don’t get scared again”, Jan teased.
