It's sunny today, which is good because today is laundry day. Thirteen loads their dirty clothing into the washing machine, carefully measuring out just the right amount of detergent.
Then he turns to his kid, who is wearing the same coat as always. “When was the last time you washed your coat?”
“Just a week ago,” lies the kid.
Thirteen shakes his head. “It's been at least one month. Take it off and put it into the washing machine.”
“But what am I supposed to wear?” The kid pleads. “This is my only coat.”
Thirteen is unfazed by the puppy eyes. “What about the jacket I bought you last month.” Not to mention that it is almost summer now, wearing a coat indoors is completely unnecessary.
Knowing that his coat is definitely going into the washing machine today, the kid sighs and takes off his coat reluctantly. Before he hands it over to Thirteen, he empties the pockets, pulling out a key, some coins, some candies, a pack of pocket tissues, a harmonica, and a gun.
Thirteen closes his eyes with an excessive amount of force, and opens them again— nope, the gun is still there.
“Is it the same gun at that time,” Thirteen begs, “please tell me it's the same gun.” While he doesn’t want to see that gun ever again, he doesn't think he can handle his kid having more than one gun.
“Yes?”
“Why—” Thirteen is tearing his hair out. “Why is it in your coat’s pocket?”
“It’s always in my pocket.” The kid gives Thirteen a look, which conveys that he thinks that Thirteen has probably suffered some serious brain damage due to all the high-Gs he's pulled over the years. “Where else am I supposed to keep it?”
