Blood, sweat, and most importantly, tears.

Summary:

He could hear faint hissing, the sound of teeth gritting. It was him. 'Lord, grant me solace and comfort, grant me escape,' The ginger had prayed to himself, never pausing from his sprint.

Work Text:

The ginger had been running as far as he could, breathing heavily with every step he took. Rocks and dirt were in his shoes, leaves stuck on his clothes. He couldn't keep running, no he couldn't.

He could hear faint hissing, the sound of teeth gritting. It was him. 'Lord, grant me solace and comfort, grant me escape,' The ginger had prayed to himself, never pausing from his sprint.

Oh, how did we get here? To be honest, he didn't know either.

One moment he was in his apartment, scrolling on his phone as he laid in bed, now he's in the forest.

Well, that's not all, at best. His vampire friend had knocked on his window urgently, a move never been done before in the few months they've met.

How funny, a boy who's afraid of bats, friends with a literal vampire, but that's none of the matter currently. He had opened his window, letting the vampire in.

"Dear, I need.. I need your help.." The black-haired vampire had mumbled, his eyes bloodshot. What, was he hungry again?

"Did you forget to eat, or something?" He asked.

"I did-"

"Why? I already told you I'm fine with all this-"

"Listen! I just need it.. right.. right now.."

".. Now?"

"NOW."

The sudden change in tone scared him. He took a mental note on how his eyes glowed brighter.

"... Are- Are you okay? You don't.. raise your voice at all-"

"I'm FINE. Now.. please- I need it." He roughly grabbed the ginger's arm, making the other wince.

"H- HEY! LET ME GO! YOU'RE- YOU'RE SCARING ME!" He tried to pull away, before the vampire had bitten in his neck roughly, leaving him screaming. He had pushed him away, holding his neck.

"Gh.. Get back here, right now." He growled, his fangs glistening with blood under the dim light of the apartment.

"N- NO! GO AWAY!" He cried out, walking backwards towards the door. His only exit.

"Don't you dare step out of that door." He snapped, stepping towards the ginger with a menacing tone.

The silence was deafening between them, without a single thought, he had opened the door running away almost immediately, his blood staining his pajamas.

He was sprinting down, hitting the walls everytime he came upon a corner, especially on the stairs. He probably woke up all the neighbours, but his life was at stake, so who cares!

The vampire was close behind him, though still out of reach. He knew a way to possibly lose him in the process, he knew a way to the forest, that is.

Ah, the forest. Same forest where an apartment shut down for when an architect was found.. well, bullet to the head, at best. Never knew what happened to the guy.. Nevertheless, he had ran into it, bumping into branches and bushes, rocks and pebbles everywhere.

Hence, how we're here now. A long, yet short backstory for a measly chase scene.

He had stopped behind a tree, breathing heavily, yet silently, dried blood being covered over by already flowing blood. His mind felt hazy from the amount he had already lost.

Alas, he could hear him once more. 'It's the end for me,' he thought, tears pricking the corners of his eyes. He could hear the faint growls from the vampire, sniffing the scent of his oh, so sweet friend's blood.
'Twas the end when he felt a hand on his shoulder.

"Found you." He growled, before grabbing him roughly by the shoulders, biting him right where he left off. Oh, how the sweet tanginess of the scarlet liquid enveloped his tastebuds. How intoxicating it was, as it flowed down his chin. How his friend didn't scream, nor move.

Soon enough, he had pulled away, his breathing becoming heavy, as his eyes emitted the faint glow just as usual. He stared at the ginger, waiting for him to make a move.

And that's when it had hit him.

".. Dear? ... Dear- you're scaring me. I'm sorry- I didn't mean to, just please- wake up.." He begged, shaking him lightly. Alas, he laid still, head dangling around like a ragdoll, as blood continued to spew out of his neck, going over the already dried blood.

He had made a mistake. He didn't mean to do this. He could feel a warm liquid drip down his chin, was he crying? Of course he was.

He made one friend,

And he couldn't even make it last.
