Problematic Reincarnation

Summary:

Danny got reincarnated into a superbat clone. Physically he's three years old. There are two other clones, Match and Kon-El, that are physically older than him. (Mentally not so much) When Danny finds out that he is scheduled to be terminated and his brothers will continue to be experimented on, they all escape. They end up at mountain where they meet some of the young justice league and their mentors. The physically older two clones don't trust them and to be honest neither does Danny (he didn't come thing far by trusting random strangers dressed in weird costumes even if he does sort of recognize them) but he at least doesn't outright snarl at them like some people.

Notes:

This idea isn't really mind. It's a writing prompt from tumblr made by puppetmaster13u They allowed me to make a fic based on the prompt so thanks so much to them!!!! ^^

Chapter Text

Danny probably should've been more specific when he agreed to be reincarnated. He definitely wasn't expecting to be reincarnated as a clone, and a clone of Superman and Batman no less! He still relatively looked the same even if he was a lot younger. He didn't age up correctly apparently and the scientists couldn't age him up past three years old.

Despite the fact that Danny wasn't expecting to be a clone in this life, he didn't really mind it. He did, however, have a problem with his scheduled termination. He wouldn't have known about it if the scientists didn't talk about it so loudly in front of him. His physical age made him appear unthreatening and because of that they felt comfortable enough talking about his upcoming death.

He wanted to give these people the benefit of the doubt, but he was physically three years old, if he hadn't been a reincarnated soul he would probably be a lot younger mentally. If they were willing to kill a toddler even if said toddler was a clone, then it was pretty safe to assume they were villains. He's not even actively dying or melting or anything. He might have failed their tests, but his body is three years old. What did they expect?

Danny was getting out of here. Right now. He didn't have his ghost powers anymore, but he did have super strength. It wasn't as good as Superman's, but it would have to do. He started to punch the bullet proof glass in front of him all the while cursing the evil scientists that decided to put him in a capsule. He wasn't even sure if he was supposed to be aware of anything right now. He didn't really have time to question it though. With each punch; thin. spider web-like cracks spread across the glass in front of him until eventually it shattered. Danny rubbed his sore hand. Stupid bullet proof glass not making it easy for him to escape.

He stepped out of the capsule, stumbling a little bit. It must have longer than he had thought since the scientists last took him out of the capsule for their experiments. His legs felt all shaky and weak. Danny shook his legs to get rid of the pins and needles feeling of his legs waking up. Danny didn't want to wait any longer to get out of there. He ran out of the room, sticking to the shadows and being careful to keep his steps as quiet as possible. He had to stop a few times to avoid scientists and at one point had to dive into the nearest empty room when two scientists came too close for comfort. Thankfully they were too absorbed with whatever they were doing on their tablets to notice him. (One was looking over experiment results and the other was playing candy crush.)

Danny looked around the room he had dived into. He hadn't noticed much about it other than the fact that it was empty of scientists before quickly hiding in the room. Danny took in the soft glow coming from two capsules and the almost impossible to hear whirring of fancy machines connected to the capsules. Those things were quickly overshadowed by the vague silhouettes inside said capsules. There were more clones here.

Danny rushed over to the machines and started to try to free them. It helped that Danny wasn't as stupid as he sometimes acted and that he had been surrounded by his parents machines his whole childhood. He had experience with handling machines he didn't fully understand. The capsules opened and out came two boys. One boy looked to be 10 years old the other looked 16. Both boys somewhat resembled Danny, though the older one did look a little different than Danny or the 10-year-old clone boy. Danny gave them a second to gather themselves. They were understandably bewildered to see a three-year-old boy standing behind a machine with no other scientists in sight.

"Hello, you don't know me, and I don't know you, but we need to leave now," Danny said trying his best to sound gentle but at the same time he didn't want to waste too much time talking when they could be escaping. Thankfully both boys seemed to understand. Danny grabbed a few papers that had been left on a nearby table without really thinking. The three of them quickly left the room and they continued on in silence. No further words needed to be said.

It was only when they had an exit in sight did the scientists notice their absence and set off the alarm. Danny winced and ran faster. The other clones followed closely behind him. They burst outside but not before a scientist saw them. Danny grabbed the other two clones' hands before they could slow down and look behind them. They ran towards a mountain in the distance, but Danny didn't have much hope that they would be able to get there before the many scientists that were chasing them caught them. Danny picked up his pace as more and more scientists shouted at them, and Danny could hear the roar of car engines starting. He was practically dragging his two clone brothers now.

Danny felt himself be picked up and panicked. He lashed out kicking and squirming before he saw who had picked him up. It was the physically older clone boy. He was already carrying the ten-year-old clone. To Danny's surprise the boy started to fly. The boy carried them towards the mountain and away from the scientists who were staring at them from the ground in shock.

Danny giggled and stuck out his tongue at them. Sure, they couldn't really see him stick out his tongue at them considering the fact that they were nothing more than a dot in the sky, but it was still satisfying. The oldest boy looked down at him amused. The other boy looked down at the ground in fascination. He had a death grip on the oldest clone's arm. He wasn't exactly scared of heights, but this was really high and considering the fact that the only thing stopping him from going splat was a boy that was also carrying a three-year-old child he felt that his caution was warranted. He was also used to being in a capsule not in the air. Danny however kicked his feet and spread out his arms being careful to not let any of the papers he had grabbed fall.

They landed near the top of the mountain and quickly found a cave. The oldest clone was unable to handle sunlight for very long apparently. Danny and the ten-year-old clone (he really needed a better name for him) tried to read the papers Danny had stolen. There was no light in the cave, so they read outside with their oldest brother watching from the cave. He didn't look very happy with letting them be outside without him, but they were still in his sight.

They looked at the papers for a second before Danny's brother spoke up, "I don't know how to read." He sounded a little sad. Danny grinned showing off his tiny fangs, "It's ok I know how to read." His fangs gave him a lisp. The fangs were strange, and it felt like they didn't fit right in his mouth. With all of the excitement in their escape Danny hadn't noticed them, now he couldn't stop messing with them. They were weird. Danny skimmed the papers before giving his brother the shortened version without all of the scientific words. "They're papers about the three of us. You're a clone of Superman and Lex Luthor, so you're half human and half Kryptonian. Out of the three of us you have the best balance between power and control. Your name is," Danny squinted there was a stain on the name from an unknown substance making him unable to read it when he skimmed the paper's contents, "636." Danny frowned, "That's not a good name. We should give you a good name." Danny's brother looked at him curiously and maybe even a little hopefully. Danny remembered reading about Young Justice (Tucker had been more interested in it than Danny had). He remembered Superboy, who was also a clone of Lex Luthor and Superman. "What do you think about the name Connor?" His brother seemed to think about it before smiling and nodding.

Danny turned back to the papers. He scooted a little closer to their oldest brother despite knowing that their oldest brother could hear him just fine. "You're a clone of Superman and Wonder Woman. That's why you have a hard time controlling your powers apparently." Danny assumed that the scientists had discovered he struggled with controlling his powers during one of their experiments. "Your name is 646 or Match as some scientists started to call you. I think maybe because you are the closest match to what they were trying to make out of the three of us. Out of the three of us you have stronger powers but less control." Danny read the last paper. It had less on it than the other two. Maybe because the scientists weren't planning on studying him for much longer. "My name is 626. I'm a clone of Superman and Batman. I have the weakest powers out of the three of us. I was scheduled to be terminated today."

Danny didn't exactly care about that last part. He already knew about that last part. His brothers however definitely cared about it. Before his could say a word Danny found himself back in the cave with his brothers guarding him. It was silent for a second. Danny's brothers glared at the entrance to the cave as if scientists were going to come out at any second to kill Danny. "I want to be called Danny," Danny said. His brothers smiled but neither one of them looked away from the entrance to the cave. Danny ended up falling asleep snuggled between his brothers.
