Summary:

After Riyo invites Rex and Ahsoka to stay at her apartment, they enjoy some much needed downtime

Artwork now added, see chapter 2!

Notes:

Written for the April 2024 Rexsoka Monthly prompt: They'll hear you/us

This story takes place in the same canon divergent timeline as Unexpected. It isn't necessary to read that story, this can be a stand alone, there just might be a few references that make more sense.

I've decided to continue Unexpected with a series of one-shots and stories that will fill out the rest of the Clone Wars timeline and beyond. That being said, Ahsoka is aged up and an adult. She was knighted in the aftermath of the temple bombing and assumed command of her own battalion with Rex as her commander. Only then did they get together, just to avoid confusion.

Chapter Text

As Ahsoka and Rex entered Riyo's apartment, the familiarity of the space washed over them. Despite Ahsoka's numerous visits, each time felt like a unique experience. Unlike the impersonal elegance typical of most senatorial residences, Riyo's home certainly had a cozy atmosphere, enhanced by the warm wood paneling on the walls, giving the illusion of being far from Coruscant. The scent of whatever oils Riyo had chosen mingled with the natural warm scent of the wood. It was comforting, inviting.  Riyo's warm greeting was infectious as she pulled Ahsoka in a tight embrace before turning her attention to Rex.

Rex stood awkward and stiff as the tiny Pantoran cheerfully wrapped her arms around him.  Ahsoka shot him a reassuring smile and he relaxed, slightly.

Riyo‘s invitation had been a pleasant surprise, and a welcome one for the two of them.

"The two of you must be starving. I've got some food ready, and then the two of you are welcome to relax," Riyo announced.

"Thank you so much for having us, Riyo," Ahsoka replied gratefully.

Riyo waved a dismissive hand. "You two have been away for months! I wasn't about to let you stay in some barracks room or on the ship."

"I do have a room at the Temple," Ahsoka pointed out with a smile. As a knight, she had access to the knight's billet when she was on Coruscant, although she didn't have a permanent room of her own. She wasn't on Coruscant often enough for that.

"Yes, and I'm sure it's nice, but it's not like you can sneak him in exactly, right?" Riyo said with a conspiratorial smile.

Rex's cheeks flushed almost instantly, and Ahsoka‘s brow markings rose in surprise at her friend‘s comment.  Riyo, however, maintained an innocent smile, her golden eyes wide. It was a facade that might have fooled many, but Ahsoka could sense the amusement from her, the good intentioned mischief.

"What? Young love and all that," Riyo protested innocently.

Rex cleared his throat awkwardly. "If it's alright, I'll just..." He gestured towards their bags.

"Oh, of course. The guest room is just down at the end of the hall. You have your own fresher," Riyo explained, breezing past him to point the way. He nodded, grabbing their belongings before making a swift exit.

Ahsoka chuckled sheepishly. "Sorry. We...aren't used to people knowing, and it's all a bit new."

Riyo offered her a reassuring smile. "I know how it is. You're both safe here."  And they were, Ahsoka knew that.  Although it had been a couple years since Riyo's confession of her own relationship, Ahsoka knew it was still a closely guarded secret.

Following Riyo into the kitchen, Ahsoka watched as she bustled about, setting out plates and retrieving dishes from the oven.

The tantalizing smell of the meal wafted towards Ahsoka, causing her to sigh almost dreamily. "You didn't have to cook, you know. We're so used to rations, we would have been happy with just about anything."

Riyo smiled again. "I didn't cook. I just warmed some things up."

"Oh? Do you have a housekeeper or something?" Ahsoka offered to help, but Riyo waved her off, prompting Ahsoka to finally take a seat.

"No, Fox made something when he got off shift yesterday. Says it helps him relax," Riyo explained, though Ahsoka couldn't help but notice a flicker of worry underlying her friend's smile. Despite this, Ahsoka's brow markings rose in surprise.

Ahsoka suddenly realized the other presence she'd been sensing, faint and indistinct though it was, definitely was coming from the apartment. "He's here, isn't he?" she voiced her realization aloud, recognizing that it had to be Fox she was sensing, although he felt... peculiar. Off. Staticky.

Riyo nodded. "You probably won't see him. He's just come off another insane shift and will be sleeping for the next day if I have anything to say about it."

Long shifts, especially in combat zones, were commonplace in the Grand Army of the Republic, but from what little Ahsoka could glean from Riyo's conversations, the Coruscant Guard operated differently. It wasn't the first time Ahsoka sensed something off about it. However, she didn't want to spoil the evening, so she resolved to talk to Riyo about it tomorrow or in the coming days.

Her train of thought was interrupted as Rex reentered the room, partially dekitted, leaving him in his lowers and blacks. Ahsoka noticed the way he rolled his shoulder; it was bothering him again. Nonetheless, he smiled as he walked in.

"Something smells good," Rex commented.

Riyo gestured for him to take a seat, and Ahsoka and Rex shared a glance, both eager at the prospect of a real meal.

"Is the room to your liking?" Riyo asked, her tone warm.

"It's more than generous, ma'am," Rex answered politely.

Riyo turned sharply towards him, brandishing a tea towel threateningly. "If you call me 'ma'am' one more time, I'll throw this at you," she declared, eliciting a stifled laugh from Ahsoka, who covered her mouth with her hand.

"Right," Rex managed, nervously rubbing the back of his neck. "The room is amazing. Thank you again."

Riyo seemed pleased as she took a seat, urging them to dig into the meal.

And so the night went on, with them sharing a meal and engaging in lively conversation, catching up on each other's lives. Riyo was more than eager to share the latest senate gossip and events, but was a bit guarded with certain subjects. Ahsoka and Rex contributed what they could. They knew Riyo was unquestionably on their side, but there was a delicate balance between casual conversation and OPSEC. It was Ahsoka's turn to be a bit guarded.

The war was, in a word, a mess. The tension that had been building for so long seemed to have dissipated, and everything felt like it was dragging on. It had been over a year since Ahsoka had taken her own command, with no end in sight. But that was her burden to bear, and she didn't want to burden Riyo with it, especially when the Senate was already struggling to keep the entire Republic afloat.

Before the evening could delve into heavier topics, both Rex and Ahsoka decided to call it a night. They knew they'd have plenty of time to catch up over the coming days.

As they entered the room they'd been given, Ahsoka's eyes widened in surprise. The wood paneling and faux beam theme continued here, but the space felt light, airy, and more spacious than either of them were used to. And the bed was enormous.

"The fresher is bigger than my bunk room," Rex said with a grin.

Ahsoka shot him a playful look before inspecting the fresher for herself. "Stars, you're right!"

Rex wrapped his arm around her, drawing her in for a moment and planting a kiss on her forehead. "I'll be right back," he promised, before heading off to freshen up. Ahsoka nodded, feeling a sense of warmth and contentment wash over her.

She seized the opportunity to sprawl onto the bed, letting out a contented sigh as she sank into the soft mattress. Rarely did she get the chance to sleep in a bed this plush, complete with down blankets, and she was looking forward to it.  Eventually. Right now, she had other plans in mind.

Her excitement waned slightly at the sound of running water from the fresher. It seemed Rex wanted to shower first. As much as she adored the sight and scent of Rex, freshly showered, she had entertained the idea of taking advantage of an actual shower large enough for both of them together. She nibbled on her lip, contemplating joining him but ultimately decided against it.

It had been a trying few weeks for both of them: endless hours, back-to-back campaigns, and constantly underfoot of each other. Maybe he needed a bit of alone time, especially considering the shock of experiencing something as mundane as normalcy. She hadn't missed his earlier discomfort at the invitation and his overall sense of being overwhelmed. He deserved the chance to decompress. After all, they had the entire evening ahead of them. The thought of him laid out in the bed she lounged on was enough to make her almost giddy with anticipation.

Taking a moment to rummage through her belongings, Ahsoka laid out her civvies for later. For now, she peeled off her battle dress, leaving herself in just her chest wrap and underwear. Snagging her datapad, she settled onto the bed, intending to immerse herself in the book Aayla had recommended.

She managed to read a few pages before the door to the fresher opened. The scent of Rex's soap wafted through the steam, reaching her even from her spot on the bed. Ahsoka looked up to see Rex emerging, clad only in a towel that hung low across his hips.

Her breath caught in her throat as she took in the sight of him, water droplets clinging to his chest, his hair still slightly damp.  It was enough to get her on her feet as he glanced at her, setting the rest of his armor where he‘d stacked it earlier.

He might have said something when he rose back to his feet and turned, seeming almost amused at how close she was, but she didn‘t give him a chance and pressed her lips against his. The kiss started off soft and sweet but quickly grew heated as his hands slid down her back to her hips and backside and pulled her flush against him.

When they finally broke apart for air, Ahsoka whispered breathlessly, "They'll probably hear us."

Rex chuckled softly, "You're the noisy one." he said huskily.  She wanted to protest, tell him she was most certainly not louder than him, but his hand moving was a distraction.

He trailed his hand down her back and back up, sending shivers down her spine as his hand found her back lek.  He knew exactly how to touch, how much pressure to apply.  Ahsoka let out a low moan at the sensation, her eyes half lidded.  His cheek touched hers.  “They‘ll hear us,“  He reminded her.

A smile curled over her face as her hands found their way down to his towel as she moved them closer to the bed.  “Is that a challenge?“  She asked.

Before Rex could respond, she grabbed the edge of his towel. With a quick flick of her wrist, it fell away from him completely.

Rex's breath seemed to catch in his throat as he watched Ahsoka's gaze rake over his body. His cock twitched with interest.

Rex's hands found their way to her waist, pulling her closer until their bodies were pressed together. He claimed her mouth in a desperate kiss and she let him for a moment, savoring the taste and feel of him.

But Ahsoka had other plans. She broke away from the kiss and gently pushed Rex back onto the bed, a smile playing on her lips.  He watched her with heated eyes as she removed the last of her clothes, her chest wrap and panties, standing before him completely nude.

She could practically hear his pulse as she moved over him, above him leaning down to capture his lips. As they kissed, she ground her hips against his, loving the way he moaned into her mouth.  It would be easy to sink down onto him, to seek her own pleasure, but she had a point to prove.

She trailed hot kisses along his jawline and down his neck, nipping and sucking at the sensitive skin as he let out a low groan. She ran her hands over the warm expanse of muscle before lowering her head to press a series of open-mouthed kisses along his collarbone. She felt him shiver beneath her touch and couldn't help but smile.

Her lips continued their descent until they were level with one of Rex's nipples. She flicked her tongue out against it experimentally and was rewarded with a sharp intake of breath. Encouraged by his reaction, she swirled her tongue around the sensitive bud before sucking it into her mouth.

Rex's fingers dug into the sheets on either side as he let out a low curse, his head falling back against the pillow. Ahsoka glanced up at him, unable to contain the smug grin on her face. It was incredibly satisfying to know that she could get such a response from him.

Her lips continued their exploration, trailing down his abdomen and over the muscles of his stomach. Rex's breath came in ragged gasps as he fought to keep himself composed, but she could see the way he trembled under her touch.  Her lek brushed against his hardened length and he let out another curse, twitching.

Ahsoka couldn't resist teasing him further, after all, he had claimed that he could keep quiet and he was doing well, but she knew she could draw a sound out of him. She glanced up at him as she traced light circles on his skin with her tongue, reveling in the sight of goosebumps across his skin, that she could get this reaction from him.

Ahsoka watched him from beneath her lashes and couldn't help but feel satisfied at the sight, his head thrown back in ecstasy, a bead of sweat trickling down his temple, his hands fisted in the sheets.  A low, but decidedly louder and wrecked groan escaped from deep within his chest.

The sound nearly undid her, she felt a bolt of desire down to her core and Ahsoka finally reached her destination, intending on giving him some much needed relief. She wrapped a hand around his hard weeping length and drew him into her mouth.

His hips bucked instinctively, desperate for more as he gasped, on of his hands brushing over her montrals. She‘d barely found her rhythm when he moved, grabbed her shoulders and pulled her up to him in one fluid motion.

"Enough teasing," he muttered against her lips, his voice thick with desire.  “I want to be inside you,“

His lips met hers again and again as he rolled them, pressing Ahsoka into the mattress and it was her turn to let out a low moan as she felt the warm weight of him press her down, his hands exploring her skin.

When they finally broke apart, Rex's eyes were dark with lust as they locked onto Ahsoka's. Without breaking eye contact, he slowly slid into her welcoming heat.

“Oh, fuck...“  She gasped out breathless, arching her back and digging her nails into Rex's shoulders as he filled her completely.  He stilled above her, and she wrapped her legs around his hips, trying to encourage him to move seeing his slightly smug smile as she arched a brow marking at him.

“Shh...they‘ll hear you,“  He teased, and she retaliated by clenching around him getting a sharp exhale from him, all teasing gone from his face.

He rocked his hips against hers hard and both stilled as the headboard of the bed made a resounding thud against the wall behind it.

“Someone certainly heard that...“  Ahsoka whispered almost mortified.

“Maybe not...“  Rex muttered.  Ahsoka shook her head and drew him down for a kiss, just as heated and passionate, but slower, more languid.  Her legs tightened around him and she encouraged him to move, slow and sure against her but certainly not with enough force to crack the headboard against the wall again.

They lost themselves in each other, moving in a familiar rhythm, the only sounds skin on skin and breathy gasps and whispered words.  As Ahsoka gave into the coil of pleasure building in her higher and higher, Rex swallowed her moans with a kiss as she tightened around him, dragging him with her over the edge and beyond.  Into the throws of the moment, the abyss of pleasure.

She traced a hand over his back as he moved off her, rolling to his side and pillowing his head on her shoulder, his breath warm against her lekku.  His arm was a comforting weight across her midsection as their breathing slowed.

Suddenly, the panel next to the door lit up, drawing Rex's attention. "You didn't lock the door?" he asked, panic tearing him straight out of the afterglow.

"I did!" Ahsoka protested, quickly using the Force to pull the blanket over them just as the door to their room was overridden.

Rex made sure they were covered, his body tensing as he instinctively moved to shield her. However, his posture relaxed just a bit when he recognized the familiar figure stepping cautiously into the room. Fox stood there, his expression tense, holding a blaster in hand and wearing nothing but a pair of sleep pants.

A breath of relief escaped Fox as he took in the sight of them, his expression shifting to amusement and exasperation. "Kriffing hells, I heard a noise and thought someone broke in," he explained, his tone held a hint of annoyance as he gave them an eye roll worthy of Wolffe.

The realization hit Ahsoka with mortification as she glanced at the headboard. "Riyo invited us to stay," she explained.  At least he‘d lowered the blaster.

Fox avoided meeting their eyes, his gaze darting everywhere but towards them. Rex had thrown an arm over his face in embarrassment.

"I know. I just didn't realize...never mind. Good night," Fox muttered awkwardly before quickly exiting the room with a last look of warning, or judgement.  It was hard to tell with Fox at times.

As soon as the door closed behind him, Ahsoka couldn't contain the laughter that bubbled out of her, even as Rex groaned in embarrassment.

"He's never going to let me live this down, you know that, right?" Rex lamented.

Ahsoka reached out to touch his face, encouraging him to lower his arm. She planted a kiss on his cheek before capturing his lips with her own. Then, she curled up against him, tucking her montrals under his chin as his arm wrapped around her.

"Hate to say it, but I was right," she teased.

Rex let out a resigned sigh. "Yeah," he replied, sounding almost a touch disappointed.

"Although..." Ahsoka trailed off thoughtfully, biting her lip as she recalled the image of him stepping out from the shower earlier.

"It might be alright to try out the shower later. With the water running," she suggested.

Rex's smile widened in response to her suggestion, and he leaned down to plant a kiss on the top of her montrals as his arm tightened around her.

"They probably won't hear us," he agreed.
