When his expertise is needed on the space station, he always stays a few days longer than needed. To the outside, it's simply a matter of ensuring that his efforts won't be for naught. To a select few, it's more than that and yet incredibly simple.
Two people, isolated by their positions, finding solace in each other. It's almost too simple.
And yet he still returns — to assist with extreme oddities, to gather direct data for further research — just to feel her touch. It's improper.
But even the renowned Dr. Ratio yearns for companionship.
In the mornings that can easily be blamed on two intelligent people losing track of time until it's too late to do anything, he wants nothing more than to stay and hold Asta for longer. But duties always call for the both of them and the faster they can pull apart, the less likely rumors are to spread.
In the mornings where they can just be, his gentle touch insists on applying her makeup, insists on touching her for longer. ...He likes to think she's even more beautiful than normal.
In turn, she does his own, far more complicated than her routine and all he can think about for days later is her steady hand applying the numerous layers.
...And when he inevitably has to leave, he wants to kiss her goodbye, wants to treat her as she deserves.
