Chapter Text
“Yes!” Dany moaned as she roughly grabbed onto the man between her legs hair. This was so unlike her. She didn’t even know his name.
Quicker than she expected, she reached her peak and cried out. He was good.
“Condom?” he asked roughly as he lifted his head up and wiped his chin, his arms still firmly grasping her thighs. He was beautiful. She raised her chin towards the nightstand of her hotel room. She’d made sure to throw them there when they were getting started. Loosening his grip on her legs, he leaned over to the nightstand and grabbed one.
“Let me.” she offered with a sly smile and took the package from him. She opened it with her teeth and then leaned up to put it on him, stroking him a few times before doing so. He was big and she couldn’t wait to feel him inside of her.
The man leaned down and kissed her hard before laying her back down and entering her. Dany gasped at the contact but it felt so good. He caught her gasp with a kiss which she returned. He was good at kissing too. Passionate.
She couldn’t believe this was happening right now. Dany didn’t do one night stands. It wasn’t her thing. But she’d come to Winterfell for a job interview and it went better than expected. Dany was so ready to start over in a new place, to get away from her ex and her parents, and was looking forward to getting this job offer.
She went out to a local bar to celebrate and a few celebration shots became many – the staff at this bar was so nice – and before she knew it, she was flirting with one of the bartenders. He was receptive to her advances and they ended up talking until closing. It was late and she couldn't find any available Ubers, so he offered to drive her back to her hotel. It was on his way home anyway, and then she’d kissed him in the car as they were starting to say goodbye and they fumbled their way back to her room instead.
Now he was inside her, bringing her to orgasm again. She didn’t ever orgasm with just penetration alone but here she was, doing it now. She felt him cum too, kissing her through it, and then they laid there, breathless for a minute.
Should she offer him to stay? Or was she supposed to ask him to leave? She honestly wasn’t sure, but he was nice…
“You can stay,” she blurted out, “If you want that is.” she added with a smile.
He grinned up at her, “Aye, I’ll stay.”
Dany bit her lip and studied his face. He had gray eyes, something she knew was common in the North but not where she was from. She found she liked the color.
He kissed her, stroking her tongue with his before separating and pulling out of her. He stood up and removed the condom, throwing it in the trash, before heading back to the bed.
Dany watched his every moment, watching his cock bob as he walked. He was already halfway hard again. She got up, stopping him where he stood and sank to her knees, “Round two?” she asked, with an innocent smile.
He didn't even say anything, just nodded his head, mesmerized.
—
Hours after they'd fallen asleep, Dany found herself waking and wanting for more. If they were to only have this one night together, she was going to make it count. Still half asleep and hungry for more of him, Dany lightly climbed on top of him. He was breathing lightly, but woke enough when she started rubbing herself on his cock. Eyes still closed, his arm lifted and roughly grasped her, pulling her down for a searing kiss. Their tongues gently massaging, she took his now fully erect cock in her hand and slipped him inside of her. His responding moans spurred her on. She separated their mouths and sat up, riding him until they both came again and went back to sleep.
—
4 weeks later…
“I can’t believe it’s your last day!” Missy exclaimed with a sad smile as she sat down next to Dany at her desk, “We’re going to miss you so much.”
“I know,” Dany lamented, finishing up her last chart, “I’m so nervous. I can't believe I'm actually going, but it’ll be good. I can't stay here with him.”
“I know,” Missy groaned, “But why does it have to be you that leaves? Your father runs the place, shouldn’t he be sending Daario packing?”
Dany rolled her eyes, “Please, he wishes Daario was his son. I think he loves him more than me. He keeps trying to convince me to forgive him and take him back.”
“Still!? The man cheated on you and you’re supposed to take him back?”
Dany sighed, exasperated, “Yep. He’s a prestigious surgeon. The second coming of Rhaegar. He’d do our family name well, make a good husband, blah, blah, blah.”
Missy rolled her eyes, “Yeah. Great husband material. Cheats on you for almost a year with a nurse where you work and that's who he wants you with?”
“Hey Dany!” Margaery cheerfully greeted her as she approached, interrupting the two, “Can I talk to you?”
Dany finished up at her computer and logged out, “Sure, what’s up?”
Margaery bit her lip, contemplating, “Um…let’s go to my office. It’s private.”
Dany and Missy gave each other a look, “We don’t have any secrets. Besides, I think my goodbye cake is coming soon.”
“I think you’ll want to come to my office for this. Missy can come too.” Margaery offered.
“Fine,” Dany sighed, adjusting her stethoscope around her neck as she stood, “You wanna come?”
Missy looked over her charts, “I’m actually pretty swamped. Just tell me later if it’s important.”
“Will do,” Dany nodded and headed up to the next floor with Margaery. It was the maternity ward of the hospital, where Margaery worked as an OBGYN. Dany had done a few rotations with them and wondered if they were trying to surprise her with a goodbye cake or something. The hospital loved to do those.
When they got to Margaery’s office and Dany didn’t see anyone, she was confused.
“Remember how you helped me the other day with that blood draw? When I was training my new nurse?” Margaery started, closing the door behind Dany.
“Yeah, she poked me a handful of times. I still have bruises.” Dany instinctively rubbed her arm, ”I don’t know why I had to be her guinea pig.”
Margaery huffed, “She’s my sister-in-law and she’d already run me dry. I have bruises too. Anyway that’s not the point. She ended up running your blood because she didn’t realize it was just for practice…um, and I just saw the results today. You’re pregnant.”
Dany laughed. Pregnant? No way. She and Daario broke up months ago and she’d been celibate since. Well, except that one night in Winterfell but they used condoms all night.
“There has to be a mistake.” Dany said calmly, “There’s no way I’m pregnant.”
“Have you missed a period?” Margaery asked.
Dany shook her head, “I don’t know. I’ve been kind of busy planning my move.”
Margaery looked at her sympathetically.
“Do you want to pee in a cup?” she asked.
Dany sighed, “Might as well I guess.”
Margaery grabbed a cup from a drawer in her desk and handed it to Dany. Dany went to the bathroom quickly, thankfully she already had to go, and brought the cup back to Margaery’s office. Margaery pulled a test out of her desk and they dipped it.
It came back positive almost immediately. Margaery gave her a “I told you I wasn’t lying” look while Dany’s eyes widened impossibly large. Pregnant?
“Want to do an ultrasound?” she offered.
“Yes.” Dany nodded in disbelief, “Yes, I do.”
Both stood up quickly and headed to one of Margaery’s open exam rooms.
Dany laid on the table and lifted her scrubs while Margaery turned the ultrasound machine on. She put the jelly on the wand and brought it to Dany’s pubic area.
“Yep…” Margaery confirmed and pointed to the screen, “There’s baby.”
Dany lifted her head and looked at the monitor, her mouth falling open. She didn’t need Margaery to explain, she could see it herself. Right in the middle of the screen was a flickering heartbeat. Margaery grabbed a few measurements on screen, “Measuring about 6 weeks, 3 days. Do you know the actual date of conception?”
Dany nodded while staring at the screen in complete disbelief, “Yes. Yes I do.”
—
They were at the bar across the street from the hospital. Anyone who wasn't working was there celebrating Dany's last day. She felt like doing anything but celebrating, but couldn't ditch her own party.
“So he's a bartender?” Margaery asked.
Dany nodded.
“And he's really hot? And great in bed?”
Dany nodded again.
“I'm not seeing the problem. Sounds like an upgrade from Daario.”
Dany snorted at that. He probably was, but that bar was low.
Missy playfully shoved Margaery, “You'd be upset if you were in her shoes. You've met Aerys Targaryen, you know how judgmental and pushy he is.”
Margaery made a face, “Sometimes I forget you're even related. How someone as nice as you came from his balls, I'll never understand.”
“Ew, Marg, never say that again.” Dany gagged but then groaned in despair, “The one time I decide to let go and say fuck it, I have my world absolutely rocked and end up pregnant.”
Dany had thought about that night on repeat since she'd come home. Her mysterious man from the North, with tattoos trailing down his arms, his dark hair pulled back into a bun at the nape of his neck, and those stunning gray eyes. She wasn’t sure what to expect from a one night stand but he was a thorough and attentive lover. She enjoyed it.
Margaery smirked, “Well, I'm proud of you. I didn't think you had a one night stand in you. I know the pregnancy isn't ideal but I'm happy you got laid and so thoroughly.”
Dany laughed, “Thanks. Now I just have to figure out what I'm going to do.” She dropped her head into her hands.
“Are you going to keep it?” Margaery asked.
She'd had many thoughts about what she should do since she found out earlier that afternoon. Having kids had always been a dream of hers and while having an abortion might be smarter in this specific situation, she couldn’t help but want this baby.
“I'm leaning towards yes. I know it sounds crazy but I've always wanted to be a mom. Maybe this is my chance.”
Missy shot her a look of understanding and Dany smiled back. Her best friend always knew where her mind was at.
“Daario just walked in.” Missy announced in a loud whisper, interrupting the conversation.
Dany groaned, “Please tell me he's walking in any direction but this one.”
“Sorry babe, he's coming right over.”
Dany rolled her eyes and heard him before she saw him.
“Dany, can we talk?” His charming face appeared in her vision with a cool smile. After everything he did, the fact that he could act like everything was fine was infuriating.
“Daario, I don't have anything to say to you.” She said, exasperated.
He was in a pair of blue scrubs, clearly coming as soon as he finished his shift in the OR. He made sure to flex his muscles for her, his arms crossed over his chest. He knew she had a thing for his arms. Lucky for her, her anger was still stronger than any previous attraction she had to the man.
“Come on, just give me a minute of your time and I'll leave you alone.”
Dany looked at both girls and nodded her consent. They walked away, but not before both glaring at Daario.
“What is it?” She crossed her arms defensively. Today was just getting better and better.
“Your parents are really upset you're leaving. Why don't you reconsider and stay? We can work things out –”
She cut him off, “I don't want to work things out. We're done, regardless of what my father thinks. I'll never trust you again.”
He sighed and tried to grab her hand but she swatted him away, “I'm sorry, baby, I really am. I can give you space if that's what you need. Just move back in and we can figure it out. We were good together.”
Dany scoffed, “No we weren't. I wasn't happy.” She pretended to look at her watch, “Minutes up.” She told him and then stood up to go find Missy and Marg.
“What'd he want?” Missy asked, still glaring at him. They’d move to another table nearby.
“Same as always. He's sorry. We should get back together. My poor parents are heartbroken without him.”
Marg rolled her eyes, “Why are they so obsessed with him?”
“After Viserys left, they realized their legacy here was crumbling. I'm not good enough because I'm not a surgeon and Daario is. He's everything they want in a son, even if it's just a son-in-law.”
“Vis was smart to leave. You are too.” Missy reassured her, “I think this is a great move.”
“Me too.” Margaery added, “I'm going to miss you but I wouldn't want to stay around all that bullshit either. And if you’re lucky, maybe your baby daddy is Mr. Right.”
“Chances of that are low, but I'll cross my fingers and hope you're right.”
—
Later that night, Dany was pacing her and Missy’s shared apartment. After the Daario breakup, she’d moved in with Missy while she planned her next move. Missy had an extra room and for that, she’d been grateful. It was quite different from the mansion she and Daario lived in, but she found she liked it. It felt lived in. Like a home.
“Are you going to pace all night or make the call?” Missy finally asked from the couch.
“What do I even say?” Dany asked nervously, “Hi, um, I slept with one of your bartenders a month ago and just found out I’m pregnant. No, I don’t know his name but I do know he was the most gorgeous man I’ve ever seen? Yes, it was the best sex of my life and now I even have a souvenir to remember him by.” She groaned loudly, “What if he’s the one who answers? Hi, by the way, I’m that blonde whose world you rocked a month ago and guess what, you’re going to be a dad?”
Missy laughed, “Okay, don’t say any of that. You really didn’t even get his name?”
Dany groaned again and plopped back onto the couch by Missy, “We said no names. It’s easier that way.”
Missy clucked her tongue, “It was stupid. If he was that good in bed, why not get his number? You’re literally moving there in a week. You could have dated!”
“Like my parents would ever accept me bringing home a bartender? Seriously? How exactly do you think that would go?”
No, her parents would only accept someone like Daario. A doctor and highly esteemed. Anyone else would be unworthy.
“Who cares what they think! You let them live in your head too much, Dany. Maybe the space will allow you to actually do what you want.”
“I know. It’s just hard. They already ran Vis off with their expectations and I’m all that’s left. They expected me to be their legacy via Daario. This move is already too much for them.”
Her father was angry, which she could handle. But her mother was distraught and for that, she felt bad. Except, when she really thought about it, Rhaella Targaryen supported her husband’s will and had also tried to smooth things over between her and Daario. She wasn’t looking out for her either. It had finally been enough for Dany to decide to break away.
Missy rolled her eyes, “Fuck their legacy. You need to do what you want. And you need to make that call.”
Dany sighed and looked at the phone again. The Lone Wolf Bar and Grill. She thought back to that night, though the beginning at the bar was a blur. She'd sobered up quite a bit after hitting on her future baby daddy, which she was grateful for because the sex was mind blowing and she was glad she remembered that. As far as the bar, there had been a large red headed bartender along with her dark haired mystery man. The restaurant had already closed for the night when she got there, but the bar was packed and everyone was nice. She had enjoyed the kind hospitality on her trip North which was part of why she accepted the job when they offered. That, and getting as far away from Kings Landing as possible. The town was also cute, like something out of a storybook. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad.
She dialed the number the website showed and took a steadying breath. It would be okay.
“Aye, this is Tormund.” she heard through the line. She froze. That was definitely not her baby daddy’s voice.
“Hi,” she squeaked out, “I’m trying to find one of your bartenders. I need to speak with him.”
“What about?” the man asked gruffly.
“Um…” she paused. She should’ve rehearsed this, “I spent some time with him a few weeks ago and I think I have his shirt. I’d like to return it.”
She could practically feel the man grin through the phone, “Is this the blonde with the dragon tattoo?”
Okay, he’d definitely spoken to them about her. Only he would know where that was. It wasn’t visible when she had clothes on. Her parents would die if they found out she had a tattoo. Even at twenty eight years old they made their expectations known to her and she hated disappointing them. It had been burned into her since childhood.
“Yep. That’s me.”
He chuckled, “You’re looking for Jon. He’s not here right now. I can pass a message along though.”
Jon. That was her baby's father's name.
“Can you just ask him to call me back? It’s probably better that way. I can give you my number.”
“You want some more, huh? I always tease him about his little pecker but I know the ladies do love him.”
“Something like that.” she replied.
Did he sleep with customers often? Gods, what had she gotten herself into.
“He’s going to be thrilled when I tell him you called.”
“Probably not, actually,” she mumbled, mostly to herself, before realizing she’d said it out loud.
“Why, you pregnant or something?” She could tell he was joking but he’d nailed it on the head.
Dany froze, silent and stared at Missy for help, “Um…” was all she came up with.
He seemed to realize too what he’d just implicated and her silence was only confirming it.
“What’s the number?” he was serious now, “I’ll give it to him as soon as I see him.”
Dany gave him her name and number and they hung up after that and she looked at Missy with wide eyes.
“That could have gone better.” Missy said, having overheard the conversation.
“Yes, yes it could have.” she said, wondering how this next call was going to go.
