A Future Legion

Summary:

Non-Canonical to Legion. But something I had in mind for the last few weeks.

Where Izuku answers a call to the future and finds out about the legacy he leaves behind.

Work Text:

Non-canonical to Legion with references to ideas I had for Legion but never actually applied.

And it’s been in the back of my mind for the last few weeks.

But after getting the ending of the manga spoiled to me…of which I’m very disappointed. (Granted, I know that Horikoshi was going through a lot of health problems but still… no. And no I don't mean about the pairings (Don't really care abou that))

I decided to pump this out while spite, sadness, and lack of good sleep habits still exist in me.

For the sake of powerscaling…don’t overthink it. Consider this a DC inspired (names, ideas, etc.)  but not compliant universe.

After all, in the words of Stan Lee, paraphrased; “he who writes, decides the fight.”

“Are you sure this is the best idea?” A young boy, very rotund, in a black and blue costume

“We don’t have much of a choice, according to all the simulations I’ve designed and the calculations I made, he’s the best choice to help us in this dire time of need,” another teen said, though this one was…odd to say the least.

Green metallic skin, purple eyes, blonde hair and a purple and black costume.

He was not, however, out of place among his companions.

“With the increasing threats, and villains that are quite frankly outmatching us even with the entirety of the League on call…we’ll need all the help we can get,” he grimly said.

“I still don’t like it,” Another boy said, lightning sparking from his body in annoyance.

“So you’ve said multiple times…are you ready?” A young woman said, with a white and pink costume with blonde hair and admittedly abnormal eyes.

“Yes…hopefully, he is too…”

Three friends walk into a capsule, ready to arrive to a long distant past.

They disappear.

“Hey…” Another girl says, dressed in white in black, towards an armored figure. “What’s it feel like? You’re about to meet your ancestor.”

The armored figure sighs deeply before palming his thigh where a heavy burden rests.

“...Let’s wait till we actually meet the guy.”

Izuku Midoriya, The Rising Symbol of Hope: Mand’alor.

Was meditating.

It was admittedly a boring thing to do, but with all the hassle of the most recent events, Overhaul, Izanagi, the rising tensions with the Diet and the rumors of Shigaraki being up to something.

Not to mention what was going on within him with One For All.

He was following his sensei’s teachings to gather his thoughts and focus them, especially to control his increasing negative emotions.

If he liked to use Float to mess around a bit and stay off the ground well…nobody was there to say anything.

Currently, he is taking a break on his patrol, using his meditation to not only focus on One For All and Float but also Danger Sense by expanding its range from the skyscraper he was meditating off of.

His attention was caught by a ping of well…not danger per se but…anticipation? He couldn’t really find a word to describe it.

Getting into a ready stance he was caught surprised by the three figures in front of him.

“It’s him! It’s him! Oh my gosh, it’s Mand’alor!” The first boy said in glee.

‘Ah…so this is what it’s like to have heroes as fans…All Might warned me about this,’ Izuku thought to himself as he relaxed.

He didn’t recognize these heroes, even with his near encyclopedic knowledge of them, but nonetheless he would greet them and treat them with the respect they deserved.

‘Time to channel my mentors.’

“Hello there, fellow heroes, how can I help you?” Izuku began with a short bow.

Raising his head he saw them to be…surprised. He supposed that they were surprised by his humility? He’d heard often from All Might and Negotiator that young prodigies tended to get full of themselves (which led to them getting killed) so they made sure to give him a good ass kicking if he ever started to feel superior.

Or inferior.

Or depressed.

‘Damn…now that I think about it, is it really just an excuse to kick my ass?’

Gran would get involved too so that line of reasoning made sense.

As he observed them however, he noticed that they weren’t…Japanese.

Granted quirks could change appearances but something was…off about them.

“Greetings, Mand’alor the First,”

“Mand’alor the what-?”

“My name is Brainiac 5, this is Bouncing Boy-”

“HELLO!” Bouncing Boy loudly exclaimed as he shook Izuku’s hand.

“So nice to meet you, such a big fan!”

“Easy, BB…” the girl said as she gently pulled him back.

“Greetings, Mand’alor. My name is Saturn Girl…we’ve come from the future.”

Izuku blinked.

“And we need your help.”

“Okay…” Izuku breathed out with a huff as he palmed his helmet.

“So you guys, are all from the future…the 31st Century to be precise, where quirks have apparently regressed in power due to some unknown phenomenon,-”

“The Reverse Singularity,” Brainiac helpfully pointed out.

“Right…I’m apparently the greatest hero ever known in history, (what about All Might?) and left a legacy so large that one of my descendants founded your group, the Legion of Superheroes in homage to something I did, which you guys can’t get into the specifics of right now due to timeline stuff.”

“Yep!” Bouncing Boy replied with a thumbs up.

“And you need my help to deal with this group called the Fatal Five.”

“Indeed.”

Izuku sighed before turning away from them and taking off his helmet so that he could pinch his nose.

He missed the three blanching and quickly looking away.

‘Nana?’

‘They seem to be telling the truth, Izuku…that Brainiac's technology is far more advanced than anything I-Island’s even dreamed of.’

‘But should I go? Should I face a threat that even heroes almost a thousand years from now can't handle?’

‘I don’t think this is a question of should Izuku…but will…despite the challenge, will you help them?’

Izuku snorted.

As if she had to ask.

“Alright…” Izuku said as he put his helmet back on and turned around.

“I’m going to need more information as we move forward, but if lives are at stake, regardless if they are from my time or not…I have been called…I must answer.”

Izuku was slightly taken back by the squeal of glee coming from Bouncing Boy upon saying that phrase.

“He said it! One of the lines!”

Izuku blinked again.

“This is…going to be a recurring thing isn’t it?”

Saturn Girl and Brainiac both looked away from him and Bouncing Boy pouted.

“Hey, don’t act like you two aren’t big fans either! I know you have a Collector’s Edition Legendary 100th Anniversary Figure Brainy!”

Brainiac, for lack of a better word, glitched.

“And Saturn Girl, don’t think I don’t remember the fanfi-”

“Silence, you fool!” she roared with a flush.

Izuku snorted, still slightly in disbelief, but nonetheless willing to move forward.

“Moving on…” Brainiac coughed. “Let’s go.”

Izuku paused.

“What do I tell my family?”

“You don’t need to worry, once we’re done, we’ll send you right back to this spot, to this exact moment…you won’t be gone for even a second.”

“Very well then…let us go.”

Arriving in the future had been…amazing.

He’d been able to meet the Legion of Superheroes, at least, those that were on station.

Of which, included Phantom Girl, Triplicate Girl and Lightning Lad.

There was a theme with names here wasn’t there?

But the biggest surprise was…

His descendant.

“Greetings, Mand’alor the First,” he said as he put fist against his shoulder and bowed. “It is an honor to meet you, Great Ancestor.”

“Hold on, I’m no great anything …I’m just…sigh…I may be Mand’alor,” Izuku said as he touched his descendant’s shoulder and raised him up. “But in my heart, I am Midoriya Izuku.”

The technically younger of the two nodded.

“Midoriya Koichi.”

“The honor is mine…not gonna lie though, the idea of calling you grandson is a bit weird,” Izuku chuckled.

Koichi chuckled in return.

“So is the idea of calling you grandfather…you’re not what I expected…”

“Is that a good thing?”

“I think it is.”

Koichi is the one to show him around since the others are busy tracking down the Fatal Five.

Izuku is eager to explore and Koichi is eager to show him around.

He takes in all the new sights, the flying cars, the ships that dot the skies…

ALIENS!

Actual aliens (apparently not the best term to use though, who knew?).

“Mei would have loved it here…seeing how much we’ve progressed, how we’ve not been limited by powers,” Izuku commented.

“With the Reverse Singularity, pow- quirks , became marginally less complex and powerful, the reason is still unknown, but the running theory is that it serves as an evolutionary kickback to prevent humanities extinction at the hand of their own powers.”

“Fascinating.”

“It seems to be cyclical, occurring every few centuries.”

“That’s…I have no words…” Izuku said, trying to wrap his mind around the idea and its implications.

“With the decrease of focus on quirks, humanity turned their eyes back to the stars and here we are…Earth remains as one of the galaxy’s cultural hubs with species from all around the universe having found their home here, especially since it’s the Headquarters for the Legion.”

Izuku couldn’t even find any words to say, merely shaking his head in slight disbelief.

“It’s all truly amazing.”

“A large legacy…one that you started,” Koichi said as they stopped at their destination.

Izuku blinked before taking a step back.

“This is…”

“U.A., though it’s a museum now rather than school…it was destroyed centuries after your time, when it was rebuilt however, it was decided to be turned into an archive of heroism, detailing all the greats since the First Age of Heroes,” Koichi said as he led them through the semi familiar halls.

“This feels…so familiar yet…so different.”

“I would imagine so…”

“So…where do I fit in all this?” Izuku asked as they passed by a crowd of civilians, a few gawking at them (or he assumed so due to them being extraterrestrials)...

“The Beginning.”

Izuku blinked as they went down a hall and found himself in front of an arch with  a large sign that had multiple translations.

The Mandalorian Wing.

‘Mandalorian?’

“This is the Hall of Mand’alor’s…every Mand’alor from first to last has earned a place here...for better or worse.”

‘For better or worse?’

Izuku gawks as he looks around, seeing the statues before trailing down to the plaques that had the names.

“Mand’alor Midoriya Koichi - May his Legacy be Bright.”

“A placeholder…until I receive my title…it basically defines me as Mand’alor,” Koichi explained, though Izuku could tell that there was a grimace under that helmet.

Continuing walking forward, he found a multitude of titles.

Mand’alor the Dauntless.

Mand’alor the Discoverer.

Mand’alor the Uniter.

They each had their own little epithets and with the press of a button, a story behind each one.

What was odd was when they got to one that was…empty.

Koichi remained silent when Izuku looked back at him before turning around and reading the plaque.

“Mand’alor the Fallen. May his Darkness be a warning to all of the folly of Pride.”

Izuku remained silent after reading it.

“One of your descendants…for the longest time, the title of Mand’alor was passed down by blood, but the previous Mand’alor had deemed his child unworthy and passed it on to one outside of the clan…Mand’alor the Martyred…he killed him…in cold blood and he caused a lot of damage when he took over as Mand’alor.”

Izuku remained silent and Koichi continued.

“Mand’alor the Redeemer, would challenge him and restore the Mandalorians from the damage that The Fallen caused.”

“How tragic…” Izuku finally managed to comment before walking away.

He knew in his heart and his mind that there was nothing he could do. Neither for the future nor from the past.

But still…his heart grieved.

Finally however, he made it down the end of the hallway and gasped as he saw the figures before him.

Midoriya Eri - Mand’alor the Blessed

Midoriya Ochako - Mand’alor the Faithful

Midoriya Izuku - Mand’alor the First

“Eri…”

Her statue was beautiful, she was fitted in full beskar but was in a nurturing pose as she held the hand of a child, walking with them, the Darksaber protecting against an unseen foe.

Midoriya Eri

Mand’alor the Blessed

“Let no Child fear, only smile in Joy.”

Izuku let out a shaky breath as his fingers traced over the words.

A press of a button gave a short description.

Adopted at a young age after being rescued by villains, Midoriya Eri would grow up in her father’s footsteps after his official retirement, leading the Mando’ade she created in the New Age of Heroes.

Having grown up under her father’s leadership, she emulated him by focusing on children and ensuring that they would always be able to smile like her in the face of hope.

She would spend the rest of her life dedicating herself to these goals and would start the time honored tradition of the Resol’nare.

Izuku trembled and bowed his head.

‘I did it…’

“I did it…” he whispers.

He takes a moment to compose himself and moves to the next statue, already blushing heavily under his helmet.

Midoriya Ochako

Mand’alor the Faithful

“Those who save heroes are those who stand by them!”

Her statue was…powerful. She had her right foot on a higher rock than the other, her right arm straight out and her left behind her, Darksaber in hand.

Midoriya Ochako nee Uraraka, devoted wife and confidant of the first Mand’alor and the first Interim Mand’alor to be chosen directly by his hand.

The two would start the Mandalorian Agency and work together for many years before slowing down to focus on family, their Clan remains as the First Clan of Mandalorians to this day from which the majority of Mand’alor candidates have been selected.

Near the end of her life, after the passing of her husband, Mand’alor the Faithful would become the Matriarch of the rapidly growing Mandalorian clans.

She would die peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by friends and family.

‘...My wife…’

He really liked the sound of that…

It was nice knowing that they had a future together, even though he’d yet to confess his actual love for her.

It was nice, having that assurance.

More things to think about when he finally went back home.

Going to the last statue, Izuku marveled at seeing his older self, standing regally, a cape flowing in the wind with the darksaber raised to the sky.

Midoriya Izuku

Mand’alor the First

“Do not despair, for hope is here!”

Midoriya Izuku. Mand’alor the First. The Hopebringer.

Once a simple student, he quickly rose in power as one of, if not the, greatest heroes to ever live, inspiring a legacy of descendant heroes known colloquially as Mandalorians.

Leading Japan through the Clone Wars as its Mand’alor and Shogun, he alongside his class and brothers, fought off the droid armies and defeated the dreaded All For One, the worst supervillain of their time as well as the Original League of Villains.

After defeating his enemies, Mand’alor would go on to work in all manner of fields; combat, rescue, international incidents, humanitarian efforts and more to create a brighter future.

Though he took time to settle down with his family, he nonetheless remained active in the community as Japan’s Symbol of Hope.

Mand’alor would eventually retire from active duty and pursue a career in teaching the next generation at UA, inspiring many students to be true heroes.

He would eventually fully retire and live a long and fulfilling life.

However, even when retired, he would not stand idly in the face of evil. Aged and slowed, he nonetheless charged into battle to save a school of children from a villain attack, defeating the villain, he was however mortally wounded in the line of duty.

Mand’alor would be taken to the hospital but would pass away, surrounded by his closest family.

His legacy surrounds us today.

Izuku gulped and took a shuddering breath.

‘So…that’s how I die…’

“Fitting…” he whispered and for once, neither the vestiges nor the Vod’e had anything to say.

“I’m sorry…I should have asked the museum to block that part out,” Koichi cursed himself for not thinking ahead but placed his hand on his ancestor’s shoulder.

“Nono…it’s fine…it’s comforting in a way, to know that…even to the end, I was a hero.”

“More than a hero, you were a champion for the people. Today, the Mandalorian clans seek to follow your example…to varying degrees of action.”

Guiding him away from the statue, he then led him to another part of the museum.

“Here, we also possess an archive relating to the various Clans. I myself as a Midoriya obviously belong to the Midoriya Clan.”

Izuku blinked before nodding in understanding.

“We have close ties to the Iida and Todoroki clans as well, not to mention the Kaminari Clan.”

“Wow, can’t believe that our names have lasted so long.”

“Eh, it’s a tradition that when someone marries into the clan, they take the clan name, regardless of gender, though the Clans have alternate names for the public.”

“Ah, that makes sense.”

They continued walking before coming up to another memorial.

“What is this?” Izuku asked as they approached a pedestal near his statue.

“A memorial was made long ago for the actions of your friends during the Great War, unfortunately it was destroyed and…no record was left to return their likeness.”

“Really? Not even with the clans?”

“Unfortunately not…there was…another war, centuries past your time, a lot of things were destroyed, including much of our history. We only know about the line of Mand’alor’s due to Mand’alor the Rebuilder,” Koichi said as he palmed the pedestal.

Izuku read the inscription.

Though their image is lost, their actions will not be forgotten. These are the names of those who fought by the First Mand’alor’s side.

All Might - The Symbol of Peace - Father of Mand’alor the First

Midoriya Ochako - Jate’kara Hero: Uravity - Mand’alor the Faithful

Iida Tenya - Cabur Hero: Iviin - Honored Ancestor of the Iviin Clan

Todoroki Shoto - Gaht’yc Tracyn - Honored Ancestor of the Gaht’yc Tracyn Clan

Kaminari Denki - Son of the Storm: Buurenaar - Honored Ancestor of the Buurenaar and Bes’laar Clans

Kaminari Jirou - Music Hero: Bes’laar - Honored Ancestor of the Buurenaar and Bes’laar Clans

Yuga Aoyama - Shining Hero: Nau’ur - Honored Ancestor of the Nau’ur Clan

Yaoyorozu Momo - Creation Hero: Mirdala - Honored Ancestor of the Mirdala Clan

The list goes on and on, and he’s honestly relieved that his friends are remembered.

Though a few of the names he does and doesn’t recognize, especially since the original names are lost and only the mando’a remains.

Cerar

Nuuhatyc

Werda

Cin Vhetin

‘So many names…’ If he wasn’t wrong it seemed that most if not all of the students from both 1-A and 1-B had taken a Mando’a name…but…

“I recognize only one name here…Nuuhatyc is Tooru’s hero name…she changed after…”

“What was her full name?”

“Hagakure Tooru…” Izuku whispered.

Koichi nods and presses a button.

The screen changes and he types the name in much to Izuku’s surprise.

“What? How?”

“As Mandalorians, we’re granted access to add and change as necessary to the exhibits with the more discoveries we make. There are still many records yet to be found, we hope to give them all their proper names.”

Izuku smiled as he saw the updated entry.

Hagakure Tooru - Nuuhatyc

“Come, let’s keep going.”

They continued through the museum before heading towards an absolute monolith of a wall.

THE VOD’E

INSCRIBED HERE, ARE THE NAMES OF THE ORIGINAL LEGIONS, MAY THEIR WEAPONS AIM TRUE EVEN WHILE MARCHING FAR AWAY

Izuku was awed, he didn’t realize that so many of his brothers would be able to live their lives like this.

Jango, Cody, Rex, Scratch, Boost, Sinker, Dragon, Sentinel, Wolffe, Torc, Jackpot, Draluram…

So many names…he hoped that they were all remembered, and he was glad that Jango was still apart of history.

But he knew that not all were.

Though he did wonder at some of the names that he didn’t recognize.

I wonder who Rez is?

It was very similar to Rex but his name had already come out.

Well, hopefully he’d be able to meet all these names in the future.

A beeping alarm caught their attention and they turned to a holoscreen.

BREAKING NEWS! FATAL FIVE ATTACK, LEGIONNAIRES STRUGGLING!

“Dammit, why didn’t they call us…we’ve got to help!” Koichi said as he raced out of the museum.

“Right!” Izuku called back as he took a step forward before turning back to look at his statue.

‘Well…I’ve always wanted a catchphrase.’

Emerald Empress laughed gleefully. With most of the Legion out of town, the paltry force left behind was no match for her team.

How fitting that the galaxy would see this.

The shaky news reporter trembled as she dutifully explained the events.

“It…seems…that the Legionnaires have failed…w-what this means for Earth and the galaxy at large is unknown, we can only hope that the rest of them can unite and-”

“ORAR…”

“What?”

“SMASH!”

A brutal punch landed on top of Validus’ head, spiking him into the ground.

Saturn Girl and Lightning Lad were flung into the air and quickly caught by Mand’alor.

“M-Mando!” Saturn Girl grunted, relieved.

“Not just me!” Koichi said.

“WHO DARES!?” Emerald Empress screamed, the impact having sent her and her cohorts flying and Validus implanted into the ground.

“It’s alright now!” A voice declared from the dust.

“Do not despair, for hope is here!” Izuku roared.

One thing that Koichi had explained to him is that the durability of these villains was a lot more than the ones from his time, which meant one thing to Izuku.

He didn’t need to hold back.

‘About time I get a proper fight!’

He can feel his blood pumping as he launches forward with a punch, knocking back Persuader as the larger being blocks with his ax.

Therok blasted him but he was able to dodge out of the way only to take a glancing blow from the now recovering Validus.

He grunted as he was sent skidding back, barely managing to block by crossing his forearms.

Mano tried to grab him but he quickly backflipped with a kick, snapping the bony man’s jaw shut with a crack.

It unfortunately left him open to a blast from the Empress’ Eye and he sent careening into a building.

Gathering his bearings, he gasped as he saw Persuader come at him with his ax.

TSCHZOOM

CRASH-KRRRRR

Izuku grunted as he held back the ax with the Darksaber, his opponent widening his eyes in actual horror.

“Impossible…that blade has been lost for centuries!”

With a shout Izuku pushes himself with his power and brings the ax high before kicking away Persuader.

Danger Sense screams but he’s too slow to dodge the blast that knocks off his helmet.

“Good luck without your helmet, Mandalorian!” Therok chuckles before yelping as he’s suddenly tackled by his Mand’alor and the two rocket up into the sky.

The rest of the Legion, inspired and restored by Saturn Girl, quickly come forth and aid him as well.

His senses ping and he ducks another blast from the Empress who charges at him.

“You pesky little armored brat, I’m going to enjoy crushing your skull!”

‘Gotta block the eye!’

With a roll he dodges and then leaps forward and swipes, the Darksaber scraping against the eye.

It doesn’t cut it but it hurts and Empress still feels it thanks to their connection.

“ARGH! What is that blade!? The only thing that could possibly cut the Eye of Ekron is the Darksaber but that’s been lost for centuries!”

“Do not believe everything you read.” Izuku said as he glared at her, uncaring of his lost helmet.

“Impossible…” Empress said as she finally recognized him. “They messed with time…you are…”

Izuku roared as he punched the eye, sending it into her gut and making her fly back.

“I am Mand’alor the First! The Hopebringer! Though this is not my time, my duty has not ended!” Izuku cried out as One For All flared to life around him.

Noticing his helmet by his foot, he quickly grabbed it.

And lobbed it at Therok.

TOK!

“And that’s for my helmet, sha’buir!”

Empress snarled at seeing her revenge fail, the other Legionnaires driving back her cohorts.

With a flash of emerald light, they disappeared.

Izuku sighed as he walked over to his now broken helmet.

“I’m guessing they’re gone.”

“Indeed, they could be anywhere in the galaxy by now.”

Izuku sighed before turning to face the Legionnaires.

“Why is…everyone looking away from me? Do I have something on me?” Izuku said as he inspected himself.

“No, uhm, it’s a Mandalorian thing, we don’t reveal our faces to the public…”

Izuku shook his head in confusion.

“Since when was that a thing?”

“It was a tradition started around 300 years ago by Mand’alor the Shadow…started off as a way to hide our identities, now it’s sort of a cultural thing,” Koichi explained.

Izuku sighed.

“Look guys, I’m Mand’alor the First, long before any of that stuff happened, if you want to look at me, then look at me. I don’t mind.”

They hesitated but nodded and looked at him.

They were…surprised by the scars, and the…youthfulness of his features combined with the tiredness in his eyes.

But hidden beneath those depths was a resolve the size of an endless ocean.

Now that they were gone however, Izuku went out towards the damaged buildings and crowds of people who’d been hurt, as well as the officers that tried to handle things before getting blown up.

He helped each one up, before motioning the others to join him in helping with the relief efforts.

Many of those there were…surprised to see the Legionnaires there, sure, they helped people, but they didn’t tend to stay after the job was done.

“Heh…I guess that’s why they call him the Hopebringer,” Bouncing Boy said with a shake of his head.

“Come on guys, let’s help him out.”

“I suppose we should send you home now,” Brainiac said, looking over to Izuku.

“With the immediate emergency handled, we can call in the rest of the Legionnaires whenever the Fatal Five show up again,” Saturn Girl commented.

But Izuku was…hesitant.

“You said that you could send me back to the exact moment I disappeared…right?”

“Indeed.”

“Then perhaps it would not be wrong of me to stay a little longer,” Izuku smiled as he looked at the Legionnaires. “I have a good feeling that we could learn many things from each other.”

Looking out to the skyline, to the endless expanse of stars.

“Besides, I’m not the type of guy to leave a mission unfinished. The Fatal Five are still out there, and I intend to ensure that they’re returned to prison. That is…if you’ll have me?” Izuku asked as he faced his newfound comrades, particularly his descendant.

Koichi paused, before taking off his helmet.

He had black hair with white highlights, and crystal blue eyes.

Izuku found it really funny however, after all these generations.

‘Still can’t get rid of the freckles.’

“We would be honored to have you, Mand’alor the First.”

Izuku and Koichi clasped forearms, their armor clanging against each other as they smiled.

“The honor is mine.”

“You know…sometimes it’s tough, being the newest Mand’alor…” Koichi admitted.

They were on a ship heading towards a planet that they’d received a distress call from.

Izuku was extremely excited about seeing what the galaxy had to offer.

“Yeah, I can imagine…I mean, I’ve seen all the accomplishments that I’ve apparently made, but it’s hard to actually believe that I’ll do it. That I’ll create such a legacy, it’s a big responsibility.”

“Yep…there’s two ways that a Mand’alor is chosen; either the title is passed down to a worthy successor, it used to include the Darksaber, but that was lost centuries ago with the defeat of The Fallen.”

“And the other?”

“If one considers the current candidate to be unworthy, then they can challenge them for the title in combat. It’s happened before, though it’s rare…I wonder if I can live up to it…or if I’ll be challenged and lose.”

Izuku remained silent for a moment before looking at his descendant.

“I think…that it’ll be tough, but you’ll find your way. If there’s one thing my buir taught me, is to not focus on the accomplishments of those before you, but to seek to create your own legacy…if I focused on emulating All Might, I wouldn’t be who I am today, nor would I be the person in that museum.”

He placed his arm on Koichi’s shoulder.

“In the end however, I believe in you, Koichi…you have the chance to do amazing things, just gotta keep moving forward. K’oyacyi?” He smirked.

Koichi smirked right back.

“Oya.”

Future Scene

It’s odd, seeing the Darksaber so old. He can almost feel the history in it. Though it’s slightly decayed, a burst of his quirk restores the special metal that Melissa had used.

He hopes that it doesn’t get lost again and that they can maintain it.

“Mand’alor Midoriya Koichi, step forward and kneel."

Koichi jerks at the heavy tone but nods his head and approaches Izuku before kneeling.

“Mand’alor Koichi. Through your actions, you have defended the plant known as Ryloth from slavery, dedicating every part of yourself to ensuring their freedom, even at the cost of your own life…though fortunately, that sacrifice was not permanent.”

Izuku ignited the Darksaber.

“It is tradition of the Mando’ade, that the epithet to go with the title of Mand’alor be bestowed on you by the previous Mand’alor or the elders of the Clans. However, as Mand’alor the First, I am exercising my right to bestow it on you myself.”

Koichi froze but did not outwardly react.

“Your actions have ensured freedom to an entire people, your legacy is their liberation. Their home is now your heritage.”

The Darksaber taps on both of his shoulders, lightly sparking against the beskar.

“Henceforth, you are Mand’alor. The Firith, or in the language of the Twi’lek, you are Mand’alor the Defender.”

He retracts the Darksaber and then presents it to him.

“Arise, Mand’alor the Firith, and take the Darksaber. May you lead the Mando’ade well in the defense of others.”

Koichi takes the blade before turning to face the crowd of Legionnaires, Mandalorians, and Twi’leks.

He ignites the blade and holds it high.

“K’OYACYI!”

“OYA! OYA! OYA!”

And there we go, I’m not gonna do anything else for this little oneshot, but I hope you guys liked it well enough.

Now to get back to Legion and figure out what the hell I’m going to do for the future.
