Work Text:

“Get up, please get up.”

The words fell out of Purpled’s mouth faster than he could rationally think.

His hands were pressed against his best friend's chest, the feeling of warm blood was pooling against his fingers desperate to escape but Purpled wasn’t about to let him die.

“Come on you son of a bitch,” Purpled’s voice broke as tears slid down his cheeks. “This was supposed to be fun, not resulting in you almost dying.”

—----------------

It was a bright and sunny autumn day. The air still had that crisp autumn breeze, but it was still warm enough to want to go out and do things.

Purpled was sitting outside his house, drawing in the dirt with a stick he had found. Given the simplicity of it all, it was doing really well at keeping him entertained.

Everything was peaceful. That was until he could hear the faint noise of his name being called from down the street.

“Purpled! Purpled!” His best friend, Tommy, came sprinting down the street towards his house, alerting the whole neighbourhood to the fact he was there and approaching fast.

Purpled just rolled his eyes playfully but looked up as his friend came charging up the driveway.

“Oh! Good, you’re not busy.” He grinned.

Purpled gave him a playful look, “Actually, I am practising my artistic skills.” He gestured to his drawing on the ground.

Tommy scoffed. “Well, you need a lot of practice.”

This caused Purpled to throw his stick at his friend, causing him to yell out and jump away from it.

“Fuckin’ hell man could’ve killed me with that!”

“With a stick?” He laughed. “You have got to be pretty weak to die to a mere stick.”

Tommy just flipped him off before crossing his arms and turning away to show he was pouting.

“Alright, what did you come down here to find me for?”

Tommy quickly spun around again, a mischievous look on his face.

“I was exploring the woods earlier and I found this abandoned building. I say we should explore it.”

Purpled thought over the idea for a minute. He honestly didn’t have anything else planned for the day, so he might as well go ahead and hang out with Tommy.

What could go wrong?

“Sure, sounds fun.” He shrugged. “But I’m bringing my stick with me.”

Purpled grabbed the stick again and Tommy gave him a look.

“You’re so fuckin’ weird man.”

“You are the one suggesting we go to an abandoned building to explore. I gotta protect myself somehow.”

“So be normal and bring a knife or something.”

“Nah, I like my stick better.”

Tommy just shook his head before wandering back down the woods towards the nearby forest.

Purpled followed next to him, listening to his taller friend ramble on about whatever crossed his mind.

When they got to the woods, Tommy navigated the path to the building with ease.

They got to an area where they had to climb over the fence. Tommy quickly jumped over it with ease but a sense of dread started to wash over Purpled. Something wasn’t right.

“Hurry up or it will be dark by the time we get there,” Tommy whined.

“Shut up, I'm coming.” Purpled huffed, pushing his feelings aside and climbing over the fence without any struggle.

The boys continued their journey until they arrived at the old building.

It was very run down, a hazard at best, but Tommy was eager to look around and Purpled wasn't about to stop him.

Without thinking twice, Tommy climbed into a window that appeared to be open enough and disappeared inside.

Purpled cursed softly under his breath but decided to follow him in.

His feet made contact with broken glass causing it to crunch beneath his shoes.

“Hey, Tommy you should watch your step so you don’t accidentally walk into something you shouldn’t. I really don’t trust this old building.”

The walls were made of cobblestone, which now grew moss and vines. It had been unoccupied for ages.

Purpled made sure to follow after his taller friend, avoiding stepping on rotting wooden floorboards or sharp objects that had been scattered across the ground.

Tommy started up the stairs slowly, looking around as he did. As he was distracted trying to look upstairs the floorboard beneath him cracked and his foot fell through it. Purpled jumped forward and grabbed his friend who let out a small scream of pain.

“Jesus Christ that hurts.” He hissed, slowly pulling his foot out.

“I did warn you to watch your step. Are you hurt bad?”

Tommy pulled up his pants leg and shook his head. “Just a few cuts but losing a little blood never hurt anyone.”

Purpled wanted to strangle his friend at that moment. He just about fell through the floor and is now acting all casual about it. It drove him insane.

The duo continued upstairs and began looking around the various bedrooms upstairs.

Tommy had wandered into what could best be described as a workshop. There were various tools, such as redstone repeaters, pistons, and other small devices. It all looked very primitive in the way it was designed but that would make sense given the state of the house.

“Hey, what’s this?” Tommy asked as he pulled a string that appeared to be attached to a device.

Purpled turned around to see and his eyes widened.

“Tommy don’t-”

But it was too late. The pulled string caused a tripwire to be activated which caused the dispenser in front of Tommy to shoot out an arrow, piercing him in the chest.

Tommy’s hand reached up to the arrow and, without thinking, pulled it out of his chest.

“No stop!” Purpled shouted but it was too late.

The tip of the arrow was covered in crimson blood which was now held between Tommy’s fingers. He was staring at his chest in shock and his hands trembled a bit.

Purpled rushed over, trying to quickly assess the wound.

“Fuck, this does not look good. We need to get you to a doctor and fast.”

Tommy slowly looked up at Purpled, the colour draining from his face.

“Purpled, I don’t feel very good.” He mumbled softly.

Purpled looked up worriedly before his friend's eyes rolled back and his body went limp.

Luckily, the purple-eyed boy managed to catch his friend before he hit the ground. He started swearing over and over as he gently laid him down. He was losing a lot of blood and the situation was looking dire.

He quickly pressed his hands to the wound and had to think. What could he do?

—----------------

Time was running out, Purpled needed a game plan immediately if he was going to save his friend.

Purpled quickly pulled off his hoodie, the purple fabric being thick enough that he figured it would help. He placed his foot on the hoodie and took a deep breath.

“I’m so sorry I have to do this to you.”

In one swift motion, he pulled, tearing a piece of fabric off.

He then wrapped the fabric around the wound as tightly as he could, packing some extra pieces he managed to rip off underneath to apply more pressure.

Then, he picked up his best friend and started moving as fast as he could.

Down the stairs, he managed to perfectly miss the step Tommy had fallen through and ran to the window. He lifted his friend out before jumping out himself.

He wasted no time, repeating the same process of lifting Tommy over first when he got to the fence and then went running into town.

The blood was now soaking through the hoodie and Purpled was swearing under his breath.

“We are almost there, you are not going to die on me now.” He hissed.

Purpled walked into the doors of the hospital, the staff looking up at him shocked before running over.

“Please help him, he got shot with an arrow.”

The nurse quickly assessed Tommy and grabbed a gurney, placing him on it. Before Purpled could say anything else, Tommy was taken to the back.

The blonde stood there, his once pale purple t-shirt was now half covered in his friend's blood which also coated his arms.

The shock wore off and he suddenly felt exhausted but he couldn’t leave. He went into the waiting area and sat down, staring at the wall and praying it would be okay.

It felt like an eternity before someone came to see him.

A nurse walked over to him

“You were the boy who brought in the one with the arrow wound right?” She asked softly.

Purpled jumped up and nodded. “Yeah, that’s me. Is he okay?”

She smiled warmly. “He should make a full recovery, he just needs lots of rest. Would you like to go see him?”

Purpled nodded and she led the way into the hospital room.

Tommy was sitting up, sipping from a bottle which Purpled could only assume was a small dose of a regeneration potion to help him regain his strength.

Once his friend saw him his eyes lit up.

“Purpled!” He grinned.

Purpled walked over and gave him a light punch in the arm.

“Don’t you dare go and almost die on me again.”

Tommy looked sheepish but nodded anyway.

“Not my proudest moment.”

Purpled sighed. “I really thought I lost you there you know. I was worried sick.”

“Awe, does this mean the big bad Purpled actually cares for someone.”

This resulted in Tommy getting another light punch to the arm.

“Tell anyone and you’re dead.”

Tommy just smiled and nodded.

“I think I learned my lesson though, I will be more careful next time.”

“Next time?”

“Well sure, you didn’t think that was my only abandoned building for us to explore, did you? I have a whole list! Some even have hidden treasure in them!”

Purpled just shook his head.

“Tommy Innit, you might just be the death of me.”
