Chapter Text
Pulteney Street, March 5.
Dear Mamma,
I am sure you did not expect another letter from me so soon, but such a wonderful thing has happened today! Miss Tilney and her father have invited me to come away with them at the end of this week and join them at their family home in Gloucestershire. Just think! It is called Northanger Abbey, a place quite ancient.
You do not object to me going, do you? Mr Allen says it is a great distinction to be asked, and I know he is right. Oh I cannot thank Mr and Mrs Allen enough for bringing me to Bath. They each send a few lines to you and father, which I will enclose in this letter. If you could but judge as they do and consent to my accompanying Miss Tilney, I should be the happiest creature that ever lived.
I have not yet spoken to James, but I am sure he sends his love to each and every one of you, as do I. I do believe I have not seen him this happy since he left for Oxford. What a delightful place Bath is for finding happiness! Do please send your response as soon as you can.
Your loving daughter,
Catherine
