Work Text:
Once, there was a family. The Afton Family.
Once, there was a kitsune. The Grimm Foxy.
Once, there was a child who was almost dead. (Someone, call an ambulance! Dear god, there's so much blood-)
Once, there was a kitsune, who loved to see someone get lost. (Well, why not raise the stakes? How about... reincarnation and... eternity?)
Once, there was a dying kid in a hospital. ('Ello? Can anyone hear me? What is this place? Where am I? Fatha... are you still there?...)
Once, there was a fox who created a game, game that will decide would you go to afterlife or stuck for eternity. (What? Why can't I move? Why are my hands yellow? Am I... in that bear?!)
Once, there was a kid, whose biggest fear were his father's creations. (You better watch out. I've heard they come to life at night. And if you die, they hide your body and never tell anyone. Why do you look so worried?)
Once, there was a fox, who used the kid's fears. (Please let me out! Please!!!)
Once, there was a black void, a dead child and a plushie. (You are broken. We are still your friends. Do you still believe that? I am still here. I will put you back together.)
Once, there was a deal.
You're saying that if I'll win your game, you'll help me to get back to life?
Yes, I do.
...
So, its a deal then?~
<***>
(Legends say you can tell if someone is a kitsune by observing their shadow or reflection. But why would you try to find it?)
<***>
Now, there is a kid in a dark room. (He hates you. You have to get up. You can get out this time, but you have to hurry.)
Now, there is a kid with a flashlight. (He left without you. He knows that you hate it here. You are right beside the exit. If you run, you can make it. Hurry, run toward the exit.)
Now, there is a kid fighting his fears. (NO! Don't you remember what you saw? The exit is the other way! Hurry and leave!)
Now, there is a shadow with glowing eyes watching from over the hall's corner. (It's too late. Hurry the other way and find someone who will help! You know what will happen if he catches you!)
Now, the child is getting close to an end. (I assure you, I am very real.)
Now, it is the last chance for kid to turn back. (I am here to claim… what is left of you.)
Now, the child had won. (There's one more thing about kitsunes.)
Now, the child is waking up to the sound of the heart monitor. (The kitsune is far from being a friendly fox spirit. He’s often depicted in folklore doing its best to outsmart humans.)
Now, the heart monitor's sound keep slowing down. (Hence, the kitsune is a trickster, and a good one too. Its tricks range from mischievous pranks to malevolent acts.)
Now, the heart monitor shows flat line and makes the continuous high-pitched sound. (It tricks humans for selfish reasons, bringing misfortune, pain, or even death to victims.)
<***>
In future, broken suit's eyes suddenly flashed white. (I've kept my part of the deal. You came back to life, aren't you?)
