Camp Half-Blood
It was a normal day at Camp half-Blood. Or at least for the younger campers, the older campers were quiet most of the day. They still trained the younger campers but they didn’t have the same humor they usually have. The worst one was Percy, again they didn’t know why but he was quiet compared to normal. The faces all the older kids wore screamed not to ask so instead they instead went to chiron.
“Chiron!” Emily called as she walked up to the porch of the big house. Chiron was sitting in his wheelchair reading a book when she called him. “Emily, Alex.” he greeted. “We have a question for you.” Alex said as they took a seat. “Go ahead,” he said, closing his book. “Why are all the older kids acting weird, especially Percy?” Emily asked. Chiron took a deep breath before responding. “A couple years ago there was a camper named Luke. He was bitter against the gods for not giving them any time. He betrayed us and went to Kronos. There was also a prophecy saying that on their 16th birthday a demigod of the eldest god would have to make a choice that could either save us all or kill us all.” “There were 3 options for who that could be, correct?” Emily asked.
“No. There was only one, Thalia joined the huntresses of Artemis the day before her 16th birthday and Nico was too young. So it landed on Percy. Luke was the one to originally train Percy when he first got to camp so it was hard for him to decide. But in the end Luke asked for a knife but it was up to Percy to give it to him or not. That would have been 5 years ago today and all the older demigods you see here fought in that war.” Chiron finished.
It was quiet for a bit before Alex spoke up. “That all happened 5 years ago today?” Chiron looked down before speaking up again. “Not all of it, it was spread across two days and we lost many demigods. That's the reason it is more quiet here today.” “Oh.” Emily said. “But just because this happened doesn’t mean we can’t live the day. Don’t go around saying anything because we will learn about that and don't say anything to any of the older kids. Got it?” Chiron asked. Both of them nodded fast and ran off to go to their next activity before they got in trouble for skipping.
Chiron smiled for a moment watching them. “You told them.” A new york voice came from behind him. “They were going to learn soon Percy.” Chiron said as he turned around to face percy. Percy was leaning against the doorway. “I know, I know. He said as he sat down. Chiron looked over at Percy. The bags under his eyes have become worse, almost the same colour of his hair, the grey streak sticking up in every odd way.
“When was the last time you got a good night's rest Percy?” Chiron asked. Percy looked down, “I don’t know.” He responded honestly. “Percy.” Chiron said. “Chiron please just… just don’t.” Percy said as he kept his head down. Chiron knew not to push Percy. Especially not now. Percy put his head against the back of the chair and brought his feet up to rest his arms on his knees. Without opening his eyes he whispered. “5 years. It’s been 5 years since Luke died. 5 years since all those kids died.”
“I know Percy, I know.” Chiron responded. They sat in silence for a bit longer before Percy moved to get up. “I have a class in 10 minutes. I'm going to make sure everything is set up,” he said. Chiron just nodded and watched as he walked towards the arena. Chiron couldn’t help but notice how he walked, his poster almost like a defeated man.

Camp Half-Blood
His session started in 10 minutes and there were a couple things he still had to set up. Oce he got all the swords the kids were using and the armour that fit them. Once he had all that set up he sat down for a few minutes. “You good seaweed brain?” Annabeth asked as she sat down beside him. “Ya I’m good.” he responded. “Uh huh.” she said sarcastically. He smacked her lightly on her arm. She laughed and soon he joined her.
They talked like that until Percy's class showed up. She stayed where she was and just got her laptop and did a bit of work. Every now and again she would look up and just watch. A small smile creeped up onto her face. No matter how many times percy jackson has been hurt, he will always be kind. And no matter the day make sure everyone gets the same treatment. He is and will always be kind no matter how many times he is beaten and bloody. She returned to her work, right now designing some new cabins.

“Chiron the Olympian council has requested that you along with Percy, Annabeth, Leo, Jason, Piper, Hazel, Frank, Nico, Will, Grover, Clarisse, Travis and Conner come up to Olympus after this rotation.” Hermes said as he appeared in front of Chiron. “Why.” chiron asked as he looked up from his book again. “The olympian council just wants all of you to come up.” Hermes said. “Are you not part of the olympian council?” Chiron asked. “Chiron, if I could tell you why all of you are being summoned up to olympus I would but I was put under order not to.” the god responded. “Is that where Dionysus is?” Chiron asked. Hermes nodded before looking down at his watch and looking back up. “I need to go but I will see all of you at 2:00. I will meet all of you at the big house and get you to Olympus” Hermes said before disappearing. Chiron let out a sigh and went off to find everyone.
First was Percy and Annabeth. “Hey Chiron.” Annabeth said looking up from her work. Percy turned around and saw the look on his face, “Alright everyone take a couple minutes and please get water, it is hot today.” he said to his class before walking over to Annabeth and Chiron. “What’s going on?” he asked as he sat down. “Hermes just told me that you two along with Leo, Jason, Piper, Hazel, Frank, Nico, Will, Grover, Clarisse, Travis, Conner and me go up to Olympus after this rotation is done.” Chiron said. “You're kidding right, I mean of all days it’s today are they insane?” Percy said. “I know I know but that is what Hermes asked, I tried to ask him why but he said he couldn't tell.” Chiron responded. Percy just shook his head. “We’ll go.” Annabeth said. Percy nodded in agreement. “Ok then, I have to go tell everyone else. We will meet at the big house after.” Chiron said as he began to roll off to tell everyone else.
Everyone had a similar reaction either asking why or if they really have to do it. And every time his response is the same. Yes, you have to do it, and no, I don’t know why. But all of them agreed to meet up at the big house. 2:00 rolled around and they all met up at the big house as Hermes and Chiron were talking. Hermes turned towards them and smiled a tiny bit. “I am sorry demigods but it is important. And I did try to convince my father to do this tomorrow but he insisted on it today.” he said. Everyone just waved him off. “Alright here we go.” Hermes said before teleporting them all away.

Olympus
“What is this?” Percy grumbled as they appeared in the throne room. Like always, Zeus was sitting on his throne, the gods to his right, the goddesses to his left. Hades sat at the end of the gods' side. Hestia was sitting at her hearth and the demigods plus Chiron moved to sit by her. “We as the council have come to an agreement, all of you sitting here have done us a great favor over the years so we would like to give you something for that.” Zeus said, his voice booming across the throne room. “Great favor my ass.” Percy whispered loud enough for the demigods to hear. The gods too but he didn't really care about them. The rest of the demigods snickered a bit along with Hermes and Dionysus.
“Perseus.” Poseidon warned. Percy just shrugged unapologetically. “We have come to an agreement…” Zeus began but was immediately followed by yelling from some of the council members. “We have come to an agreement.” he yelled to take over and the other council members went silent. “We have come to an agreement that if you wish you may become the protectors of camp half-blood as well as camp jupiter.” it was silent all across the throne room. Percy noticed some of the gods watching them with curiosity, what did it mean. He was about to speak up but Nico beat him to it. “What are you saying when you say new protectors?” he asked cautiously. “It means if you would like, you could be immortal and become the protectors of your two camps.” Hades said.
Everyone was shocked. Chiron sat silent besides Percy looking down. Had Chiron known about this? He looked over at everyone else, everyone seemed a little shocked but still a little happy, like they would take it. Percy looked down at his hands folded in his lap. Would he really want to do that? Leave his mom, leave Paul, leave Estelle? He didn’t think he could do it. Annabeth took his hand without even looking at him. There were two other people in the room that had a good connection with their family, Jason with Thalia but Thalia is a hunter and Will. but Will has an on-off relationship with his mom. Percy is the only one who has a good connection with his mortal family anyway. Would he really want to do that? Give them up to live with his friends forever?
Hades spoke up again. “Perseus and Will we also understand that you two have a connection with your mortal parents as well is this true?” Both he and Will nodded. “Then if you take this offer, when they pass we can set something up so you may still talk to them.” Hades said.
He could still see his family even when they died? Annabeth looked over at him. “You good?” she whispered. Percy nodded mutley. Will had the same face Percy knew he was wearing. But even if he could still see his family they would be dead. “Can we have a moment to discuss this?” Chiron asked. All the gods nodded and Chiron led the group of demigods outside of the palace.
Once in the courtyard he began. “I’ve had a feeling that they would do something like this. But it is up to all of you to decide if you want to do this and like the gods said if you have family you are close with you will still be able to talk to them even after you die.” all of the demigods started talking amongst themselves. “If we take it up and our family dies we would still be able to see them, and we would be the protectors of the camps.” Will clarified. “That is correct.” Chiron said.
They talked for a few more minutes before they came to an agreement. It was either all of them or none of them. They walked back into the throne room. “We have come to an agreement.” Chiron started, “we’ll do it.”
