This fic is all sunshine and rainbows!!!

Work Text:

Michelangelo sighed. Their siblings had been so mondo depresso lately! The whole sewers were bummed out and it was totally crushing her vibe. She had to do something about it! But what could a turtle do to pep up all their siblings who seemed trapped in a molasses of malaise..?

Got it!

Who could feel sad during in a pillow fort? Nobody ever, that’s who! So that’s what Michelangelo would do, make the most epic fort of all time! There’s no way they could fail this task!

The teeny turtle immediately got to work, grabbing every stuffed animal she had and throwing them into a huge pile on the living room floor. She even got her Dream Lites pillow pets, just so Leo could watch all the pretty star projections swim across the thick waves that were the fort’s
blanket-made ceiling.

It took longer than initially anticipated- but the huge pillow fort was finished! Fluffy quilts surrounding the palace of pillows and plushies, with one big window for an entrance- and to see the television. The newly constructed cozy corner had plenty of snacks and juice boxes for Michelangelo’s siblings! They had to love it. Cause she put all her love into making it! Not absolutely adoring such an effort was basically a diss to her whole existence.

With the fort complete, she went to go get their sad siblings in hopes to cheer them all the way up! Like- past the clouds, up!

“Oh Raphieee! Guess what? Time to quit moping! I gotcha something way outta this world special!”
Michelangelo hopped around their big scary sister in a circle, like a shark thirsty for partying and pizza.
“Really? What’s so special bout it?”

“Cause it has that Mikey-tastic charm!”
Mikey sat down on Raphael’s bed, swinging their arms around her shoulders for a hug.
“Yeah, like I need anymore of that in my life…”
Raph grumbled, shoving her sibling away.
“Cmon Raph, please? I really tried to do something special for you guys…”

Raphael sighed as Michelangelo clasped her hands together and gave the most pleading puppy-dog stare she could have managed. Damn it.
“Whatever, fine…”
As soon as Raphael agreed, Mikey squealed and pushed their sister into the living room.

“You chill out while I grab Lee and Don!”
Michelangelo giggled in their victory, before spinning away like a ballerina into the dojo where Leo was.
“Hey dude, what’s poppin? You reading a book printed upside down? You coulda just flipped the thing over!”

Leonardo looked away from the book he was reading while simultaneously attempting handstands. Maybe all the blood flowing to his head made him smarter! That made sense…
“Oh- hey Angie, what’s going on?”
Leo got to his feet, and put his book away on the shelf- before shaking his head as a spike of dizziness made his vision splotch out.

“I did something! Cmon!”
Leo yelped as their sibling dragged them into the living room.
“Have fun, I’ll be back!”
Michelangelo disappeared once more, and re-appeared right infront Of Donatello just as soon as he had blinked, causing him to squeak and nearly splash scalding coffee all over his sister’s face.

“Woah! You scared me, Mikey!”
The geeky turtle in purple held a hand to his plastron, heart spasming in a coagulation of coffee overconsumption and shock. Mikey simply laughed.
“Surprise! Want a double surprise?”

Before Donatello could protest, Michelangelo shoved him into the living room.
“What kinda mess is this?”
“The comfy kind!”
Mikey and Donnie entered the pillow fort, where their two older siblings had already gotten comfy in. Mikey just wiped away an imaginary sweat drop from their forehead, relieved that the two hadn’t turned the dorm of duvets into a dome of destruction.

“My comfiest creation yet! You guys dig it?”
Michelangelo plopped into a pile of plushies next to Leo, who handed them a juicebox when their head poked out the fluffy slump.
“Of course, this is great! Any special occasion, lil sister?”
Leonardo layed down, grabbing a turtle pillowpet and shaking it gently, watching the colorful star projections swoop around the fleeced fort.

“Every occasion is special when ya got a turtle like me!”
Mikey winked and enjoyed their juicebox, feeling glad that their siblings seemed way more chill! Mission success! Raphael snorted and rolled her eyes further than a ferris wheel.
“Your special something was a pillow palace?”

Michelangelo crawled like a mole through a tunnel of teddies.
“A palace? Sure! You can be queen!”
They grinned, placing a tasseled throw pillow atop her head. Its rainbow sequins twinkled in the opaline Dream Lites.
“Oh.. Thanks Mike..”
Raphael smiled a bit as she was crowned queen of cushy kingdom.

“No problemo, queen! It’s your coronation, and I am your loyal subject!”
Mikey beamed, doing a pseudo-bow towards their smily sister. Donatello smirked behind his hands at the sight, snickering at Raphael’s sudden mushiness.

“Wow your highness, not ordering Mikey to behead Leo yet? I’m impressed.”
Raphael crossed her arms at Donatello’s teasing, her own cheeks puffing as she held back a cackle.
“Oh shut your face before it ends up on the back of a milk carton! Noble Angeline, ready the cannons!”

Michelangelo saluted the order, giggling as Leonardo helped them shoot a barrage of stuffed soldiers towards Donnie, burying him in cushions. Raphael let out an evil laugh, pointing towards the ninja under the avalanche of feather-filled projectiles.
“Off with his head!”

Michelangelo and Leo hopped into the plushie pile, pretending to guillotine the terribly fated genius.
“Bleh-“
Donatello bleated, and Leonardo threw a watermelon stuffy at Raphael’s feet.
“Executed, your honor!”
Leonardo cheered, before Mikey shoved him.
“It’s your majesty! Gummy head!”

“Oh how awful- I’m such a traitorous knight! How could i ever redeem myself? Must I meet a similar fate to our snarky sorcerer?”
Leonardo wailed, before covering his beak as he chortled.
“Nah, I’m a benevolent ruler! I’ll forgive you if you… Shine my shell and get me some chips!”

“I would rather die than let you get crumbs all over this glorious castle!”
Leonardo tackled Raphael, and the two fought over the tasseled pillow. Michelangelo and Donatello looked at eachother before shrugging, and jumping into the tumbleweed of tussling turtles.

The fracas was fractured as the four mutants accidentally collapsed the pillow fort. They all popped up from the wreckage, laughing and throwing the padded debris at eachother in a battle for the crown.
After a long, fruitless battle, the turtle siblings succumbed to the sleepiness their shenanigans brought on.

So, of course, the sleepy mutants all piled together to snuggle in their slump of bedding, snoozing soundly through the day.
