The Sour Frog (updated)

Summary:

When his friends ditch him, August finds himself the target of two very strong, very intimidating alpha demons, who would like nothing more than to bring him home. But can he trust them?

06.26.2025 - I originally was not going to update this but uh, I did anyway, because I love them.

Notes:

When I started updating/somewhat rewriting the Demons of Ironwood series, I wasn't going to touch this one. But then I reread it, and realize and yeah, it could use a little facelift. And while my writer's block is still crushing me, I didn't need to do a lot of thinking to rewrite this, so it just seemed like the right thing to do. I hope you enjoy it and the extra lore I added. I also fixed the giant glaring error in the first half of the story that never made any sense, and it is why you should ALWAYS proof-read your story before posting it!

(says the dumb bitch who almost never proof-reads anything and goes on to ignore her mistakes.).

Thanks for the continued support, love you all! xoxo

Work Text:

The Sour Frog was the most ridiculous name for a bar that August had ever heard. The Vale didn’t even have frogs! In fact, it had almost no wildlife. But the name came from the bar’s signature drink: a green concoction of liquors, froque juice, sugar, and rum. And August couldn’t deny that the drink was absolutely delicious, and very dangerous. He learned the hard way to stop at one, because the hangover he had suffered had kept him in bed and sick to his stomach for three days.

The drink was one of the main reasons the bar was almost always busy, but it wasn’t the only reason. The Sour Frog was located in The Invisible Vale, and it was as sorry looking as the rest of the hell-plain. Once, Crown City had dreams of becoming a bustling metropolis of trade and work, but that plan had quickly fallen through. The hell-plain was simply too horrible of a wasteland for anyone other than the strongest to live and work in. It was cold and snowy most of the year, the sun was too far away and appeared only as a glowing orb in the sky, which meant that nothing grew there. It was always dark, always bleak, and always ready to steal the lives of any Otherkin caught off-guard. There were many fields and caves filled with magnetic black rocks, along with spontaneous rolling electrical storms, that could stop one from tracing. And if caught off guard, this could lead to a slow, terrible, wasting death, lost in the hell-plain.

So why did anyone call this place home? Why was the city still full of residents, and why was the bar busy tonight? Because it had one thing going for it: diamond and gemstone mines. All across The Vale were massive Otherkin-dug craters that went deep down into the earth. And the only places of life were found clustered around these massive mines. Crown City was built just outside the largest diamond mine. There were also little homesteads of individual homes, massive factories with tenement buildings; and fortress castles had been built during the bloodiest of the diamond and gemstone wars. Now they were the spoils to the winners and served as luxurious homes instead of for war.

The one thing that the hell-plain had, that had always surprised August, was “modern mortal” amenities like electricity, running water, and even wifi for cellular phones. But none of these luxuries could make anyone who didn’t live their life in the mines want to actually stay here permanently. Tracing in and out was too unpredictable because of the storms, which meant that the primary mode of coming and going were clusters of travel mirrors located at a Mirror Hub in the cities. Unless you had a magic key, which few did.

The Vale was not August’s home. He came here with his friends sometimes. Crown City was fun when you didn’t live in it and could return home on a whim. He couldn’t imagine living in a place so dead, dark, and cold. He liked hot weather and the sun on his skin. It was also known for its violence, given that almost everyone spent their spare time drinking and fighting, and August just wasn’t into that. It was the main reason why he had made his home in Ironwood City. It was safer for omega half-breeds like himself.

August checked the time on his phone. He had been here for an hour, and so far none of his friends had shown up. He frowned, agitated because this was a waste of time if they weren’t going to show up. He had things he could be doing instead of pacing from the fireplace and back to the bar, listening to the drunken demons in the back singing along with the minstrel who could absolutely not hold a note. He took the seat he had been at for the last hour and drummed his fingers on the old, wooden bar. Should he call them? Text someone? Start a group chat and let them know how he felt about being stood up?

Most likely they had decided to do something more adventurous, and probably dangerous, and had just decided to leave him behind and not tell him about it. Because he couldn’t trace, he was often left behind. If whatever mischief his friends got into turned to danger, a quick escape was sometimes necessary, and August couldn’t do that. He was considered a liability.

Fine. He would have a drink, and he would go home. He waved at the bartender, trying to get his attention. He would love to get drunk, but not here, not alone. He had had a few too many eyes on him all night. He was a lone omega at a bar, and often other demons thought he was here looking for a “good time.” A gargoyle had even tried to proposition him earlier when he had walked out of the bathroom. He should have just taken the hint and gone home after that had happened. Instead, he stayed.

So stupid. His friends weren’t coming, and never were. Fine, he would have one drink and get the fuck out of here before he was approached by yet another horny demon who thought he looked–

“Excuse me?”

Ah, too fucking late. August exhaled, licked his lips, and turned, fully prepared to rebuff the demon who had just pulled out the stool next to him and sat down. But when his eyes landed on the demon, he nearly swallowed his tongue and all the hairs stood up on the back of his neck.

It was a Rage demon. An alpha Rage demon. He heard several chairs move as other patrons gave the large demon next to him his space. August wanted to as well, but found himself unable to even move. He could only stare, dark eyes wide and round, at the demon next to him. His heart thrummed in his chest out of rhythm and his palms were sweaty.

This alpha had to be over seven-feet tall, not counting his twisted, pearl-white horns that sprouted from his short orange hair with black roots. The demon was wearing dark brown suede trousers, boots, and a double-hooded black jacket. The jacket was sleeveless, which showed off the demon’s massive arms, covered in detailed rune tattoos. He had gold cuffs on his wrists and wore a gold twisted torc around his neck.

The demon’s pale gold eyes shone in the low light of the bar, and his smile was cocky. It wasn’t that the demon wasn’t attractive, he absolutely was. He had a handsome face, cleft chin, and dark eyebrows. But August knew all about Rage demons, as did every Otherkin the bar. When angered, their pale skin turned red, and they were known for going on rampages that often left no one alive. Their horns could also secrete a paralyzing venom, not that they needed the help. The strength behind their bite was only outdone by that of an Inferno demon. August remembered a friend once told him he saw a Rage demon in a fighting pit rip a Storm demon apart with just his hands, and then crushed his skull into pieces.

August found his voice, though it wasn’t as assertive as it would normally have been. “I–” he started weakly. “I’m waiting for some friends.”

“Mind if I wait with you?”

Brasch could smell the omega half-breed’s fear over the heavy stench of alcohol, smoke, and musk of all the Otherkin in the bar, and it reminded him why, at the end of the day, he usually just went home. He liked stopping for a drink and maybe a bit of food, but there weren’t too many other demons here who would talk to him. Mostly it was drunks trying to pick a fight, thinking if they could beat him, they could brag about it.

His hair being short gave them the false-hope that they could win. They couldn’t.

He had spotted the half-breed the second he had entered the bar from where he sat in the far back, drinking and listening to the terrible minstrel crone on and on. The omega was clearly a half-breed, the dominant species being harpy by the shape of his small, goat-like horns and nearly black eyes. His brown hair was pulled back in a short braid, which exposed his pointed ears and slender neck.

Hmm, pretty, had been his first though. His cock had quickly agreed.

“I–um…” the half-breed stammered nervously. He dug his black painted fingernails into a groove on the bar as anxious color sped across his high cheekbones. There was a slight tremble in his breath when he finally answered. “Sure.”

Yeah, he doesn’t mean that at all. Brasch tilted his head at the omega before he turned his attention back to the drink he had brought over with him. He watched the half-breed out of the corner of his eye. He seemed to calm down once it appeared Brasch was ignoring him. The bartender finally came over and the omega ordered himself a drink. After a few minutes, he was tapping on his phone, before he let out an agitated huff.

“Is something wrong?” Brasch asked.

The half-breed flinched, like he had forgotten he was there. “No,” he lied.

Brasch’ lips curled into a little amused smirk. “Uh-huh. Clearly nothing.”

The half-breed glared at him, something glittering in his dark eyes for a split second. He was quiet for a minute, fiddling with the beads on one of his many bracelets, before he sighed and said, “My friends are assholes.”

Brasch tilted his head slightly. “Want to talk about it?”

The scrutinizing look he got had him frowning. But the omega did answer, “Not really.”

“That’s fine,” he said easily. The half-breed’s drink finally came, and he had it down in two long gulps. That made Brasch arch an eyebrow before he smirked. He pulled some gold out of his pocket and caught the bartender’s attention very easily. The Otherkin hurried over and he nodded to the omega. “Another for him.”

The half-breed looked at him in surprise. “No–you don’t have to do that.”

“My treat,” he said, “since your friends are pricks.”

To his surprise, the omega laughed and nodded in agreement.

“Yeah. They are,” he said with a soft, breathy laugh.

The smell of fear was still there, but it wasn’t nearly as heavy as before. “What daring exploits did you have planned for tonight?” he asked.

The harpy half-breed shrugged. “Nothing particularly special,” he said as his next drink came much quicker than the first. “Probably just something that would have gotten us into trouble.”

Brasch shifted ever so slightly, turning his full attention to him. “When’s the last time you got into trouble?” he asked with a laugh.

The same twinkle returned to the omega’s dark eyes. “What? You think I’m lying?”

“Absolutely not,” he teased with a grin.

After another drink, the harpy seemed to realize how much closer they were sitting, and he shifted a bit uncomfortably. Brasch couldn’t really blame the reaction, he knew what kind of reputation his species carried. It was a reputation he was proud of. But he hadn’t come over here to hurt the young half-breed. In fact, he wasn’t entirely sure why he had come over to talk to him. He wasn’t on the hunt for a lover. But, if the half-breed was interested… That could make for a very interesting evening.

“My name is Brasch,” he offered.

A sidelong look before the omega said, “August.”

He took a long drink of his grog before he motioned for another. “What do you do in your spare time, other than get into trouble, August?”

He mimicked him by taking a small drink from his own glass. “Uh, mostly study and work. Which makes me sound quite boring. Probably why my friends didn’t show up.”

Brasch smiled sympathetically, “What are you studying?”

“Horticulture,” he said as he looked down at his nails.

“You don’t live in The Vale, do you?”

August snorted. “Obviously not. No, I live--I mean, I don’t live here, no.”

“Why horticulture, if I may ask?”

August hmmed and dragged his finger through water rings left by his glass. Why was he talking to this dangerous demon? He wasn’t drunk, he wasn’t even buzzed. The alpha smelled nice, but all demons did, but that had little effect on him. His mother had raised him to block out the more primitive parts of his omega hindbrain when it came to being around big handsome alpha demons. So it hasn’t the alcohol, and it hasn’t his hindbrain. But he couldn’t deny the demon was interesting. He’d never talked to a Rage demon before.

Finally he answered, “I like flowers and plants. My aunt runs a supply store and I’ve been helping her to expand her business with different kinds of flora.” Huh, that also makes me sound boring. Fucking hell. “What do you do, Brasch?”

“I’m a healer. Mostly for hire.”

August was glad he wasn’t drinking, or he would have choked on it. “What?” he questioned in disbelief.

The demon gave him a coy smile. “What? I can’t do that?” he asked.

August again looked the massive demon over. He had a sword across his back, a knife belt, and probably had other sharp weapons tucked wherever possible. Not that he needed them with his horns, teeth, and strength. With the open jacket he could see every muscle on the demon’s chest and down to his abs. As observed before, his arms were huge and covered in delicate rune tattoos. It took him a moment of staring to realize that they were healer’s runes. And they weren’t just something one could tattoo on themselves, there was a whole ritual when it came to it.

“No, you can,” he finally answered. “It’s just… very surprising.”

“I’m full of surprises,” he purred as he leaned a little closer.

August looked at him in surprise as he blushed. Thank the gods for his mother’s teachings, otherwise he might have gotten wet from the demon’s smouldering look. He took a deep breath to clear his head and cleared his throat. He looked at his half-empty glass, but decided he had had enough to drink tonight. Especially if his guy was going to start hitting on him. He needed his wits.

The demon leaned back. “I apologize. Was that too forward?”

“A little,” he said. “Why did you come here tonight, Brasch? What are you looking for?”

Brasch took a breath as he thought for a moment. Then he shrugged. “At first I wasn’t here with any real purpose. Now I’m just looking for a… friend.”

Ah, yes, as I suspected. He bit his lip as he thought about it. Brasch was here looking for someone to fuck, and had zeroed in on him like so many others also had. But unlike them, and the gargoyle who had tried buying him like a whore, he had actually come up and started a conversation.

It’s too bad. If he was any other demon maybe I would entertain it.

“August?” Brasch asked, his voice lowering to a husky-tone.

For the first time, August actually did feel something prick at the back of his brain. Damn, this alpha was hot, and was starting to wear him down. And they hadn’t even really flirted, and they certainly hadn’t touched! The demon hadn’t used any dirty language with him or really said anything that was overly suggestive. He had just talked to him, asked a few questions, and was looking at him like he wanted to eat him alive.

He once again cleared his throat, wondering how he was going to get out of this. Did he want to though–?

“Hey, there you are.”

They both turned to the approaching demon. Anything August had been feeling towards the Rage demon vanished in a puff of smoke. August had never met an Inferno demon before, why would he, their dangerous reputation was notorious. This alpha was taller and bigger than the Rage demon. He had purple skin and frightening red eyes, which went from the Rage demon to August. They glowed in interest.

The Inferno demon had two sets of black horns, long pale-blond hair that was pulled back and braided. He was wearing a brown vest over a white shirt, two belts, brown leather trousers, and a gray sash around his waist. August saw the demon’s long, prehensile tail swaying behind him.

Like the Rage demon, Infernos were known for their violent nature and strong bite, but they were especially aggressive and very possessive. What really set them apart from other species of Otherkin was that when angry, their purple skin would steam and become hot. So hot that it not only burned anyone that touched it (or was touched by the demon) but could also melt the skin off bones.

This was a demon that August did not want to be anywhere near.

“Who’s your friend?” the Inferno asked as he rested his elbow on the other demon’s shoulder and leaned there. His red eyes never looked away from him; August didn’t think he even blinked.

A jolt of fear rushed through him, and he realized very quickly how he had become the prey to two very large, very dangerous, very unstoppable alpha demons. He had to get out here.

“I have to go–” he said hurriedly as he hopped off the bar stool and rushed into the crowd. He knew he was being watched, not just by the two demons he had literally just ran away from, but by anyone else who had been paying attention to him and the Rage demon. They were all probably thinking the same thing: What a stupid omega! Talking to a Rage demon! He’s going to get himself killed!

He knew that running away from a predator was the dumbest thing he could do, but it was all he could think of. He had no friends here, no one to stand up for him. He seriously doubted anyone in that bar would step up and help him if things had gone sour. Either of those demons could have grabbed him and walked out with him, and they would have just shrugged and said he deserved it. Stupid little omega. Weak and helpless.

Well, he wasn’t helpless, he had been taught by his mother to not be. He could fight, was light and quick on his feet, and had injured and maimed quite a few demons who had tried a little too hard to get close to him. But those demons? He certainly doubted his skills.

Outside the bar, Crown City was in the middle of a blizzard. When he had arrived here an hour ago it had been snowing and growing dark, but it was always snowy and dark. And it wasn’t like his phone had a weather app for the hell-plain! Now he was outside, not dressed for this kind of weather, unable to trace, and in for a long walk back to the Mirror Hub.

He turned and started through the snow which was halfway up his boots. The wind whipped his hair and light coat and he wrapped his arms around himself. The cold threatened to freeze his lungs and it didn’t take long for his ears and nose to go numb. He turned down between two buildings for shelter and stood there, teeth chattering and on the verge of panic.

He looked around, but everything was dark and snowy. He couldn’t see across the street, let alone the rest of the city. Where the hell was the mirror hub? It was a white stone building with large doors open to travel mirrors that were free to use. How the hell was he going to find a white building in a blizzard?

“I am not fucking lost.” He had found his way here, he could find his way home.

He stepped out, but when he looked out he was blasted by the wind. He quickly stepped back and leaned his back to the brick. Hiding here he was out of the snow, but the wind still found him. He was growing numb and he really had no idea where he was. He was a harpy half-breed, but he hadn’t inherited any of the harpy’s strengths. He was almost as weak as father.

August knew his friends wouldn’t answer him, so he didn’t have much choice other than to call his mother. Gods, he rather freeze to death out here than face her–

He was patting down his pockets only to realize that he didn’t have his phone. He had fucking left it on the bar when he had darted away from the two demons. Now his fear turned as cold as the weather around him. There was a very real possibility he could freeze to death out here. And then what? Would anyone find him? Would they tell his family? Or would he just be yet another story of an omega who went out, and never came home?

“No, calm the fuck down,” he ordered himself. “You’re better than this!” He would just have to find his way back to the bar to get his phone. Hopefully those demons were gone. If they weren’t, then he would just suck it up, ignore them, get his phone, and call for someone to come get him. He would never hear the end of it, and even though he was a grown-ass adult, his mother would monitor him for a while, but it would be worth it. He wouldn’t be dead and frozen in a fucking alley.

He left the safety of the alley and started back towards the bar. But after ten minutes, he stopped. He hadn’t found The Sour Frog. In fact, nothing looked familiar. And he was even colder, there was ice on his eyelashes, and he couldn’t feel his face. Panic surged through him and he again found shelter between two buildings.

Oh god, I am actually fucking lost.

But he couldn’t just stop here. He had to get help from someone–

He jumped back when someone stepped from the blowing snow and stood, blocking the alley. He had to swallow his heart back down, along with another rush of panic. “You followed me?!”

Brasch scowled at Maddox as the omega fled. “Perfect timing, dipshit.”

The Inferno demon’s tail dropped down. “What did I do?” he asked with a frown.

Brasch shook his head. “I was just getting him to talk to me,” he said as he stood and turned to pay for his tab. There he saw the omega’s forgotten phone. He picked it up. “I wonder if I can catch him?”

Maddox looked at him, perplexed. He reached around Brasch and picked up the omega’s drink and finished it. “If you think he’s scared now, he’ll be even worse if you chase him down. Why were you talking to him? What were you trying to do?”

Brasch dropped some coins on the bar before he said, “Go on home. I’m going to try to find him.”

Maddox’s tail flicked as he looked around the bar. Everyone who had been staring at them looked away when he made eye contact. He curled his lip in distaste, showing his teeth. “This place is boring, anyway.”

As the purple demon traced away, Brasch walked through the crowd, which parted easily for him, and stepped out the door and into the blizzard. He frowned in surprise and confusion. When the hell did this start? He had lived in The Invisible Vale for a long time, and was still surprised at the severity of the storms and just how quick they came on.

He started walking towards the Mirror Hub, which was where the omega was probably going because he hadn’t traced out of the bar, but it didn’t take long for him to realize he didn’t smell him. Had August gone the wrong way? That could be very, very bad for the small omega.

Brasch turned around and went the other way. After fifteen minutes he found the omega’s scent and followed it. The snow melted when it touched his skin, he was naturally very warm-blooded, but that didn’t stop him from growing slightly uncomfortable as the snow grew deeper and the wind started to howl. He could see the clouds in the distance swirling, threatening to drop a cone to the ground. Great, that was the last thing he needed to worry about. A blizzard cyclone.

He lost the omega’s scent a couple of times in the wind, before he picked up on it again and turned down a very tight alley. As he blinked the snow from his eyes, he locked them with the harpy half-breed. Relief washed over him.

“August–”

“You followed me?!” August yelled in shock. “Are you serious?!”

Brasch held up both hands in surrender. “Yes but,” he said before he produced the phone. “I thought you would want this. You left it behind. Are you all right?”

“You have my phone?”

“I brought it… Are you all right?” he repeated as he frowned. August didn’t have any visible signs of frostbite yet, but he was small and his harpy-half obviously weak. He shook his head. “You need to get out of this cold. Come with me.”

August stepped back, shaking his head. “J-just give me my phone and I’ll go on my way,” he demanded through chattering teeth.

“Do you know where the mirrors are?”

He didn’t want to stand here and talk. He wanted to go home before his insides froze! “I have a general idea.”

“Well, you’ve been going the wrong way. So I doubt that.”

His face reddened for a different reason. “Can you t-trace me to the mirrors?”

“No, I’ve never actually been near them.”

He cursed. “B-back to the b-bar?”

“You need a safer place to recover than there,” he said. “I won’t hurt you, I promise. Just come with me. I’ll give you your phone, and make sure you get home safe.”

August frowned worriedly, but when he felt his tears freezing in his eyes he knew the demon was right. He needed out of this cold right now. Praying he wasn’t making some horrible, life-ending mistake, he finally nodded. “F-fine.”

The demon offered him his hand, and he reluctantly took it and closed his eyes. Sometimes tracing made him dizzy and it was easier to close his eyes. Wind rushed around him, before gravity suddenly tried to crush him. It was unlike anything he had felt when tracing with someone before. But before he could panic, and before any of his bones broke, it was over. They were abruptly out of the snow and the cold, and somewhere bright and warm and smelled like patchouli and bergamot.

August opened his eyes and he was standing in the den of a house. In front of him was a massive stone fireplace, and he quickly stepped closer and raised his shaking hands, hoping and praying the feeling came back to them and he didn’t have to lose any digits. He was just thinking he needed to take off his boots and wet socks when someone talking made him jump.

“That took a little longer than… oh.”

August felt his stomach drop as the Inferno demon from the bar joined them. He had changed his clothing and was only wearing a pair of white drawstring lounge pants that were just hanging on and left very little to the imagination. But he wasn’t going to ogle the dangerous demon. Instead he looked at Brasch in anger and betrayal.

He had promised! How stupid was I to believe him?

He had never heard of two unrelated alpha demons living together, so this clearly had been planned. Brasch lured him in, and when he was stupid enough to trust him, brought him home for them to share. He was never getting his phone back and he was never going home. He felt angry tears build in his eyes. He just hoped that whatever they did, they did it fast.

Brasch turned around quickly when the smell of August’s fear flooded the room. He again raised his hands and softened his voice, “August. Calm down. This isn’t what you think, I swear.”

The Inferno demon frowned in confusion, his tail wagging behind him, before he looked from one to the other. Then his red eyes widened as he realized. “We aren’t going to hurt you, omega. You’re quite safe here.”

August shook his head. “Why did you really bring me here?” he demanded. “If you do anything to me, my family will find you and you’ll be just as dead as me–”

“Woah, slow down,” Brasch insisted as he stepped closer. “August. No one is dying–”

August’s wide eyes looked around the room. It was shockingly clean and tidy for a house of murdering demons. As far as he could see, it was a nice stone home with all the typical amenities and decor he would expect from any alpha. He saw no blood, no chains, no signs of anyone being killed, dismembered and eaten.

Maybe they have a dungeon for that?

“August…” Brasch continued gently. “We aren’t going to hurt you. Calm down, okay?”

He wanted to believe them. Should he just believe them? Did he have a choice? He held out a shaking hand. “Give me my phone.”

Brasch did without hesitation.

August's stomach sank when he looked at it. “No bars.”

“We kind of live out in the middle of nowhere,” the Inferno demon said. “The signal will come and go.”

Outside the wind was now roaring, and August turned but didn’t see a single window. “What was that?” he asked. The house trembled.

“Blizzard cyclone,” Brasch explained. “I saw it forming when I was looking for you.”

August’s mouth fell open in shock. “A fucking snow tornado?”

“Yes, but we’re safe here. We built this home to withstand them, and it always has. But, unfortunately, until the storm is done, I can’t trace us. I barely got us back here before the storm started to ramp up.”

He wanted to call him a liar, but then he remembered how it had felt when they had traced. He rubbed his hand over his chest, where it had felt like his bones were being crushed. “Is that why it felt so weird when we came here?”

“Yes, sorry about that.”

August dropped his shoulders in defeat. “So now what?”

The Inferno demon looked him over. “You need to take off your clothing.”

“Maddox,” Brasch hissed.

The demon’s long tail flicked as he looked at the harpy half-breed. “Your clothes are wet, and you’re still cold. If you want to avoid frostbite and sickness, you need to take them off. We have a shower with hot water. Why don’t you use that, and we’ll find you something to wear.”

August looked around while clutching at his wet coat. Right now he didn’t see another way out of this. He had a phone he couldn’t use, and the demons claimed there was no tracing until the fucking snow tornado was done. They were also in the middle of nowhere, so it wasn’t like he could walk back to the city. Also, if he made them angry, they would certainly hurt him, promises or not.

He rubbed his head and slowly unzipped the coat. “Fine,” he murmured.

The Inferno demon, Maddox is what Brasch had called him, led him down the hallway to a large bathroom. He instructed him to leave his wet clothing outside the door and he would see that they would get dry. He also promised to bring him something to wear while he waited.
August wondered if he could just barricade himself in the bathroom, but that was probably the dumbest thing he could do.

The bathroom door closed in his face and Maddox sighed. The omega smelled sweet, but scared. He turned away and walked back through the house to find Brasch. “Why did you bring him here?” he asked.

“I didn’t want him to freeze to death. And I couldn’t trace him to the Mirror Hub, I’ve never been there,” he explained.

“You could have just brought him back to the bar,” Maddox pointed out.

Brasch disagreed, “There were far too many eyes there watching him.”

Maddox shook his head, but he smiled warmly. He touched one of the demon’s horns. “You and that big heart of yours. How did it ever get stuck in such an ugly monster?”

Brasch growled at him, but he leaned into the touch. “You’re one to talk. Everyone in the bar lost their buzz the second they saw you.”

“Hm, that’s because they’re all too fucking stupid to realize hot I am.”

“Sure, Maddox.”

The Inferno demon smirked and moved closer, now grasping the demon’s horn, when they heard the bathroom door quickly open and close. He went to get the half-breed’s clothes and hung them over the fire to dry, and set his boots close to dry them, also. As he did that, Brasch came back from the bedroom with some clothing.

“It’s not like anything we own could possibly fit him,” Maddox pointed out.

“It’s better than nothing.”

After leaving the clothing outside the door, he went to find Maddox lounging on the sofa with his feet on the coffee table. He took a moment to remove his boots and change into something more comfortable, before joining him.

Maddox looked at him. “So, tell me, what was your plan originally?”

“My plan?”

“Flirting with that little omega.”

He sighed and shrugged as he sat back. “I thought maybe… he would want to come home with me. Maybe he would want to be with us for the night.”

Maddox burst out laughing. “Him? That little omega? You thought he would willingly give himself over to the two of us? Brasch, how many drinks did you have? That’s absurd.” When the demon only loudly sighed, he continued, “You’re crazy, my love. No omega in their right mind is going to let us fuck them. Not unless you find one who’s in their heat.”

“I was just entertaining the idea,” he said. “He was very cute.”

“Am I not cute?” he teased with a pout. “Bored with me already?”

“Only took me a millennium,” he said.

Maddox rumbled a low growl before he leaned over to kiss the other demon. Yes, they had a relationship that was considered strange and abnormal. Alphas like themselves weren’t supposed to be compatible, especially not sexually. And those that did have sex were usually in difficult situations, such as war-time, where carnal needs outweighed the fact that they were alphas. But the two of them had been together for as long as Maddox could remember. They had grown up together as children, and been best friends for many years. Once they matured and grew, it had only made sense to take their relationship to the next level. Over time it had become clear to them both that they were meant to be together.

They had even decided to wear each other’s claim bite, but instead of on the neck, theirs were on the side of their thighs. Despite what Otherkin society thought of their rather queer relationship, nothing could possibly separate them.

There were no regrets between them, and they certainly didn’t give two shits about anyone else’s opinion.

Maddox’s tail slowly curled and wagged behind him as he pulled at Brasch’s short hair and kissed him deep and hard. Brasch leaned against him, his body lean and hard and as familiar as his own. The demon groaned.

The door down the hallway opened and snapped them both back to the present. They had company. Who probably wouldn’t want to see them fucking. Not that Maddox gave a shit if anyone saw him railing Brasch or being bent over by him.

He sat back and the two looked over the back of the couch and watched as the omega walked down the hallway. He did glance down at his tented pants, it didn’t take much for him to get turned on by his mate, but there really wasn’t much he could do to hide it other than cover it with a pillow. He didn't bother.

August was wearing the sweatshirt and shorts that Brasch had left for him. He looked pretty ridiculous, as the demon’s clothing was far too large for him. Maddox had to wonder why he had bothered with putting the shorts on since they weren’t going to stay up. But he looked better. His skin was flushed and warm, his damp hair hung down his shoulders, and his eyes had lost some of their wild fear. But there was no denying he was on his guard. And Maddox clocked the second the omega smelled (mostly his) arousal.

Maddox smirked. “Relax, omega, we were going to fuck each other, not you.”

Brasch sighed and shook his head. His eyes raked over the omega, but not for the same reason that his mate’s had. He was looking for any signs of frostbite that he would need to heal before the damage was too far gone to reverse. “You don’t look like you have any damage from the cold. Is anything still numb?”

While it had taken the entire duration of his shower for the feeling to come back to his ears, he didn’t see anything that would be permanently damaged. But that wasn’t on his mind right now. He looked between them in surprise. “You two— You’re a couple?”

Sure, the bathroom had made it clear that two demons lived here, and the sweatshirt and shorts did smell like them both. The sweatshirt smelled more like the Inferno demon than the Rage, but he had no doubts both wore it.

Brasch nodded. “For about a millennium,” he said with a smile.

August stepped closer as his interest was caught. The floors were a mixture of wooden and stone, and all very cold to his bare feet. He could hear the wind still howling outside, but the shaking had stopped. Did that mean the tornado was gone? When he checked his phone in the bathroom he still didn’t have any bars. Did that mean he was stuck here all night? How long until he could be taken to the mirrors to go home?

He walked closer until he was standing on the fur rug in front of the fire. This put him in front of them, and he could see the Inferno demon’s very prominent hard-on. The Rage demon had changed his clothes and was wearing similar loose pants, but didn’t have such an obvious erection. But, gods, now he smelled them, and that little tickle in his hindbrain started again.

Maddox stood, making him jump, but all he said was, “I’ll get you some tea.”

“You’re a couple. If that’s the truth, then why did you try to pick me up at the bar?” He asked as he watched the large demon leave.

“You’re cute,” Brasch answered honestly. “I thought maybe the three of us could have a little fun.”

Us,” he echoed as his ears reddened and his heart did a little jump in his chest. “The three of us together?” Oh hell, if that didn’t paint a picture in his brain. That tickle in his brain started to itch and he wondered if they could sense it. They were big, older alphas, which meant that their senses, especially smell, had to be strong.

“Why not all of us?” Brasch asked with a suave smile.

He stared at him. He was no virgin, and he had been with an alpha, but he was nothing like these two. And two! There were two of them! He had never been with two before at the same time. Oh gods, did they want fuck him together, or had they planned on passing him back and forth? Why the fuck was he even thinking about it!

The itch started to grow and in turn, his legs trembled. Shit, shit no.

He looked at the fire, trying to clear his brain and think of anything else, when the demon came back and offered him a steaming cup of tea. He took and looked at it.

“It’s not drugged,” Maddox said.

No, why would it be drugged? They didn’t need to drug him to take advantage of him. He sipped it and found it to be surprisingly good. Why did he expect them to have only the hardest, bitterest tea? Instead this was smooth and rich, with the slightest hint of mint.

“Are you two going to hurt me?” He asked as it became clear he was going to be here overnight.

”No,” Brasch said. “I completely understand your trepidation. We are the demons that you’ve probably been warned about for your entire life. And you would be right to take those warnings seriously. Am I dangerous? Yes. Is Maddox? Absolutely. But we have no reason to hurt you. You aren’t our enemy.”

Maddox had sat down and extended his arm over the back of the couch. He was slowly stroking his hand through the short locks of hair on the back of Brasch’s head. He was still hard and would very much like to fuck his mate tonight. Even if they had company sleeping on the couch.

”And even if you were, we aren’t going to kill a helpless omega,” Maddox added. “Especially one as sweet smelling as yourself.”

He grunted when Brasch elbowed him for his forwardness.

August turned his attention to the fireplace and his tea. Well, that answered his question. He was starting to smell and they picked up on it. It really wasn’t fair, they already smelled like arousal and the Inferno demon was still sporting a hard-on.

But did he really think such a demon would be modest? Most alpha demons he had come across weren’t known for it. They were usually more than happy to display their cocks.

He rubbed his head, brushing over his short horns. What was he even doing, entertaining any ideas of doing this? They had repeated several times that they wouldn’t hurt him, and he had no reason to doubt them, but he also had no reason to actually trust them. He didn’t know them! And he had heard so many horror stories of Otherkin who had ended up on the wrong end of an angry Inferno demon.

What if he melted the skin off his bones?

He looked back at them, and met Brasch’s gold eyes, which shined curiously.

Brasch took a breath and could smell that August had slowly grown aroused around the two of them. He almost felt bad for him, what chance did an omega have when faced by two aroused alphas? “August?”

Maddox rubbed his hand absently over the front of his pants. “August, you’re starting to smell so ripe—“

Again Brasch elbowed him. While it was true, August hadn’t shown any outward sign that he wanted to be with them. He wasn’t about to let his primal instincts steamroll his better judgement and go after the omega without permission.

So he cleared his throat. “The storm is still too intense for me to trace you back into the city. You can sleep on the couch tonight if you want to. It’ll be quite warm, and you’ll be safe here.”

August nodded. Okay, that was the verification he had been looking for. But did he want to sleep alone on the couch? Part of him did, the other part of him, which was growing ever louder, did not. The itch in his hindbrain was breaking through the walls of his self-control and he was scared what would happen if he… just let go and went with them.

Maddox leaned forward, red eyes on him. He smelled the air and a deep, pleased purr rumbled in his chest. “I don’t think he wants to sleep on the couch, Brasch.”

Brasch could smell it as well as his mate, but he had a bit more control. “That is August’s decision to make, not ours.”

Maddox flashed the omega a charming grin. “What do you say, little omega, do you want to have some fun with us?”

He placed his empty mug on the fireplace mantle and turned to them. Again, he felt like the prey and he was trapped by two very dangerous predators. He exhaled and licked his lips, which was a mistake, as he could taste their heavy pheromones that had filled the air. And that did it. He felt heat pool in his belly and his backside.

”I don’t know,” he confessed nervously as he took a few steps towards them. They were both so big, they smelled dominant and were carved out of stone. They were way out of his league and far more than anything he had done in his life. “You promise not to hurt me?”

Now Brasch leaned forward, his interest peaked. Was August actually going to join them? His heart hammered in his chest and he felt his cock grow hard. “We won’t,” he said. “I promise, on my life, that we won’t hurt you.”

August stepped closer, his attention tore between the two of them. This was probably a mistake, there was no way it wasn’t, but there was no turning back now. He went to them willingly, and his omega hindbrain celebrated by wetting him with slick. Maddox wasted no time, and he reached out to take August’s hand in his own and urge him closer. Then, with his other hand, he rested his palm on the omega’s slender neck.

August took a deep breath before he tilted his head down. The demon surged forward to meet him, crushing their lips together. The force of the kiss stole his breath and August squeezed his eyes shut. The demon kissed him deep, his tongue forcing its way into his mouth and made him dizzy. After the initial shock wore off, he leaned forward and returned the kiss, which made the demon growl with pleasure. The sound startled him.

A second pair of hands settled on his hips and the shorts he had been wearing dropped easily to the floor. Then he felt lips on the back of his neck as Brasch leaned in behind him. He didn’t remember moving his feet, but the two demons, while still sitting, were now on either side of him. Maddox hadn’t let up with his kiss, and every swipe of his tongue made him hotter and weaker.

But when Brasch started to pull his shirt off, Maddox had to stop. He stared hungrily at the now naked, and slightly aroused, omega standing between them. August was breathing heavy and a thin layer of sweat was already forming on his tanned skin.

August stared into the demon’s red, glowing eyes. Despite the heat coming from the two of them, he shivered and resisted the urge to cover himself. Behind him, Brasch kissed up his spine before he slid his large, rough hands down to massage his ass. Then his fingers found his entrance, where he was wet and hot, and the demon groaned in his ear.

He closed his eyes for a second to try to regain some composure, but Maddox moved closer, his knees on either side of August, and his hands joined the other demon’s. He was quickly forgetting how to think, the world around him, and was drowning in their heavy scents.

Looking down at Maddox, he struggled through the haze and asked, “Tell me again. You won’t hurt me.”

“I’ll never hurt you,” he rumbled as he leaned forward to kiss and then suck on one of the omega’s nipples. The sound that August made nearly made him cum. He could feel that his fingers were wet with slick.

“August, we’re going to take you to our bed,” Brasch, his voice heavy and rough, said from behind him.

What was he to say? He couldn’t form any words. Maddox was worshipping his chest and Brasch was sucking bruises into his neck and pumping his fingers in and out of him. Breathing loudly and shaking, he gave up control and submitted into their hands.

“Yes.”

The demon’s bed was huge, but it would have to be in order for two demons their size to comfortably share it. And now August found himself in it, with two naked and very aroused alpha demons circling the bed like they were stalking their prey. Which they were. That’s exactly what he was.

And he might be drowning in hunger and heat himself, but he had enough clarity to clock the size of the two cocks that were going to be inside him very soon. Brasch’s was quite long and intimidating, but it was Maddox’s thick cock that had him praying that they kept their word to not hurt him.

The bed shifted as they joined him. Again Brasch was behind him, and Maddox in front of him. The demon’s lips curled into a hungry smile, his eyes glittering with excitement. August remembered all he had heard about Inferno demons and their hot skin, and he flinched when Maddox slid his hands over his hips, but the demon didn’t burn him. Behind him, Brasch started to suck on his neck again and hit just the right spot with his teeth. August saw stars for a moment.

Soon they were closed in on him, and he was essentially straddling them both. Behind him Brasch continued to prep him, and Maddox worked him up even more by kissing him into oblivion. He had cock pressed against his belly and one against his backside.

August felt tears running down his face and he moaned loudly.

“Gods, you sound and taste like heaven,” Maddox groaned as he licked up his neck.

Out of morbid curiosity he had tried his own slick once and found it tasteless and uninteresting. Obviously these alphas did not feel the same way. He gasped and moaned again as Brasch continued to stretch him open, his hands gentle but forceful, hands that clearly knew what they were doing.

“You’re almost ready,” Maddox groaned. His body trembled in anticipation. “We’re going to fuck you so good and hard, sweet omega.”

“Shit–” he choked when Brasch fingered especially deep and hard.

“Hm, you’re so good and wet,” he praised. “Think you take both of us?”

It was probably the only thing that could have snapped August out of his current lust-filled stupor. His entire body flinched and he sat up, eyes clear and wide. “At–the same time?!”

Due to the pitch and shock in that response, the two demons actually had to stop to laugh. Maddox then kissed him softly to calm him. “Don’t worry sweetheart, we wouldn’t put you through that. It would be mean of us.”

August sighed into the kiss as the shock left him. But then Brasch was removing his fingers and anchoring his hands to his hips. He paused, tensing ever so slightly. Now that his head was a little clearer, he was definitely more aware of what was going on. He closed his eyes and forced himself to take a deep breath.

“Mm, I think you’re ready,” Brasch said as he rubbed his hands up and down the omega’s trembling sides. They all fit together this way, and it would be the best way for them to take turns fucking him. He saw some of his skin flush red and frowned. He knew he was aroused almost past the point of rational thought, but he would have to calm down so he didn’t hurt the half-breed between them.

“You go first, my love,” Maddox said as he saw the fire in his mate’s eyes. He was hungry for the omega as well, but Brasch had been so patient and thorough in preparing him. It only seemed fair to let him enjoy August first.

Brasch growled and pressed his forehead against the back of August’s shoulder as he spread him with his hands and then slowly fed in his cock. “Ah!” he groaned loudly. “Oh August, you’re so fucking wet–”

Maddox grinned, watching as the other demon’s eyes turned black and his skin continued to flush red. “How is he, love?”

“Gods–perfect–” he ground out between grunts. He curled his claws into August’s hips to hold him as he thrust into him, making his body shake.

August, eyes wide and filled with tears, was lost for a moment. Not only could he feel every solid inch of Brasch’s cock as it plunged in and out of him, but he could feel the cut of every muscle as he moved against his backside. The demon’s claws had latched into his skin and he couldn’t move if he wanted to. A particularly hard thrust forced the air from his lungs and he grabbed Maddox’s shoulders for support.

Brasch suddenly pulled out of him and August gasped in surprise. The claws that had been holding him released and his body was being urged forward. Maddox’s hands replaced the other demons as Brasch gasped, “Your turn, my love.”

Maddox’s eyes, glowing bright, gripped August’s sweaty and bloody hips. He licked over August’s lips before he thrust into him with one hard movement. August cried out in surprise.

“Oh–” Maddox groaned loudly as he thrust into the omega in his lap. “You were right–oh gods, he’s so wet and hot…” He hadn’t had anyone other than Brasch for a very, very long time, and while he wouldn’t change their sex life for anything, neither of them produced a hot slick to make breeding easier. He was overwhelmed at how easily he was able to pump into the omega half-breed.

Brasch left bruises and bites on his back and shoulder, which did little to distract August from the cock inside him that threatened to rip him to pieces. He gasped and cried out, holding onto Maddox for dear life, as the demon pounded into him.

Then he was being pushed back to Brasch, who drove into him not a second after the swollen head of Maddox’s cock pulled out of him. He was fucked so hard that his teeth were clattering together and there was a throbbing pain starting in his lower back. He cried out.

Maddox was sucking on his chest again, but harder than before. His teeth were sharp and he felt several sharp pricks of pain. Claws dug into his skin. Behind him, Brasch sucked a painful bruise into his back. When Maddox kissed him, he tasted his own blood, but the kiss was hard and deep and it plunged him back into a submissive fog.

Brasch pulled out, and Maddox was in immediately, their cocks rubbing together as they switched. Again August was reminded how much thicker the other demon’s cock was as it pounded into him to the point of pain. His back and thighs were hurting, one of his nipples was bleeding, and he had bleeding claw marks on his hips.

He slammed his hands into the demon’s chest and let out an especially loud squeak of pain when Maddox drove into somehow harder and forced himself in as deep as possible. But it was that sound of pain that made everyone stop.

August slumped forward into the demon’s chest, shaking and gasping for breath. He felt the demon rumble and hands gently ran up his trembling back.

“My love?”

“Yes,” Brasch answered the unasked question by stroking his hands up and down August’s sweaty sides to calm him. “August?”

“I can’t breathe,” he confessed. He was on the verge of crying for a reason other than pleasure now. Would they be mad? Maddox’s cock was still in him, still hard and stretching him. He tried to hide his face against the demon’s chest.

But Maddox’s response wasn’t anger. He gently purred and cupped August’s face, forcing him to look him in the eyes. He brushed his sweaty hair out of his face and pet over his short horns. He saw the pain in his eyes and shook his head. “I’m so sorry,” he said as he kissed his cheek.

“We forgot that you’re not like us,” Brasch said as he placed a few kisses on the bruises and bites he had left on the omega’s delicate skin. He touched his ass, feeling how he was trembling with the girth of Maddox’s heavy cock.

“Do you wish to stop?” Maddox asked as he continued to purr.

August, who had been resting his face against the demon’s shoulder, looked up. “You would?”

“Of course. We said he wouldn’t hurt you, sweetheart,” Brasch reminded him. Of course, they had clearly broken that promise, because they had hurt him. He frowned at the blood on the omega’s hips from their dangerous claws. He looked at Maddox over August’s shoulder and frowned.

August thought about it. Now that they had stopped, and he had time to gather his breath, he wasn’t hurting so much. He felt the demon’s tail slide over his thigh and then his hand, curling against his palm and his fingers. He exhaled.

“No, I don’t want to stop,” he finally answered. “Just slow down. Please slow down. You’re both so big and I-I am not. I’m just not sure I’m made to take it like you want…”

Brasch smiled as he kissed the back of his neck. Taking it was exactly what August’s omega body was made for. But he was right, he was small and they were both quite big. And, as they had been having sex, he had gathered from August’s scent and taste that he was part human. That was good. Normally half-breeds with human blood couldn’t be bred. He didn’t think any of them were ready for that. But it also meant that they were more delicate and breakable.

He patted August’s ass and gently supported him around his waist. “Maddox.”

Maddox nodded. He leaned in and gently kissed as he started to move again, but this time much slower and gentle. “Beautiful, beautiful August,” he praised.

August’s breathing was heavy, but he wasn’t gasping in pain or for breath this time. The two demon’s kisses were softer, but just as insistent and dizzying. Hands supported him instead of holding him in place, and when he was moved for Brasch to fuck, he was just as careful a Maddox.

He found himself spiraling again, but this time it was just pleasure he felt. He submitted again, letting them take their turns in him, while praising him kisses and soft touches. He cried out for more, and moved his hips so he could take Brasch as deep and hard as he wanted.

“You’re going to get everything, sweetheart,” Brasch promised as August rode him. He groaned and growled, thrusting up to meet him. “We’re going to fill you with all our seed.”

“Gods, yes–” August moaned.

Maddox was astonished at the change that had taken shape with the omega now that they weren’t fucking him to the point of pain. He fucked him slowly and like with Brasch, August now moved with him, bouncing in his lap. His eyes were closed but his mouth was open as he panted loudly. The omega dug his short, sharp claws into his shoulders.

Everything rushed down suddenly and Maddox grabbed August’s hips. “Close,” he growled as he fucked a little harder. “Fuck, I’m going to come–”

“Please–” August begged. “Maddox!

Hearing August cry his name while riding his cock was too much and he snapped, cumming hard into the omega’s body, filling him with hot seed. August sobbed in surprise, his body trembling and his cheeks flushing with color.

“Gods–!” he cried out.

Maddox, once he was empty, kissed August hard before he let Brasch take him. “Yours, my love,” he said between heavy breaths. He was sweaty and exhausted, but they weren’t done yet.

August, trembling and hot, slumped forward as Brasch mounted him and easily pumped into him, now that he was filled with slick and seed. Maddox was still there to hold him though, and he curled his claws into his chest. His body was shaking as the demon pounded into him with the purpose of finishing. He encouraged him by crying out his name.

“Brasch–!”

Maddox watched as Brasch, eyes closed in concentration, fucked the half-breed that was currently in his arms. He reached up with his free hand and stroked one of his pearly-white horns.

The Rage demon’s eyes snapped open as he came. He roared and pumped into August, filling him with his seed. Or, trying to. There was quite the mess on the bed, and on them; it was everywhere. Tired, he took a moment and leaned against August’s shaking back. Maddox’s hand pushed the sweaty hair from his black eyes.

With the two demons finished, August thought it was done. But he suddenly found himself on his back, blinking away tears to stare up at the two alphas. Brasch’s skin was red and his eyes a fierce black, while Maddox’s purple skin was steaming with heat and his eyes glowing the same nightmarish red as before.

A nervous whine escaped from his lips. He was now at his most vulnerable, too weak and tired to possibly run, and at a major disadvantage on his back and in their shared bed. Now that they had taken what they wanted, what would they do–?

Maddox leaned over him while Brasch used his large hands to one again part his legs, but this time he was putting his head down between them. August closed his eyes when Maddox got closer, thinking for sure this was the end.

But when Maddox brushed his cheek against his neck to scent him, it was only just warm. No burning flesh, no pain, nothing. He opened his eyes, staring into the demon’s. Maddox tilted his head, before he touched his cheek with his palm.

A lick between his legs made him gasp in surprise and then moan. Not to be left out, Maddox kissed down August’s body until he got his neglected cock and took it in his mouth.

August’s brain blanked out for a second. He had two demons going down on him. Then reality rushed back to him and he was moaning for them, thrusting into Maddox’s mouth and grinding against Brasch’s mouth as he licked inside him. Gods, it was too much, and he came hard and fast, sobbing into his hands.

Exhaustion rushed over him almost as fast as his orgasm had. He tried to fight the crawling darkness, but he was simply too tired. He blinked heavily, catching a glimpse of the two alphas sharing a kiss, before he was overtaken and fell into darkness.

There was a deep, rumbling purr against his back. August frowned as he slowly opened his eyes. He was tucked under heavy, warm blankets and furs, with an even heavier and warmer demon spooned up behind him, whose tattooed arms were wrapped firmly around him.

He shifted the best he could, given the circumstances, and moved the blankets. He expected to be covered in colored bruises and bite marks, but found that his skin was flawless. He didn’t have a single bruise, his nipple was healed, and he didn’t feel any prickling pain from claws or teeth. All he really felt any discomfort from was his lower back and ass.

He looked again at the insanely strong arms wrapped around his middle, and the detailed rune tattoos on them. Brasch had healed him? Because he did not heal this fast, not ever.

Footsteps caught his attention and he looked up as Maddox walked into the bedroom. The Inferno demon was naked, but he was relaxed and clean, and was smiling fondly at him. August said nothing, just watched as the large demon joined them in the bed.

Maddox looked at him, reaching down to touch one of his short horns. “How are you feeling?”

He took a breath before he answered. “I’m sore as hell.”

“Yeah, you probably will be for a few days,” Maddox said with a blush. “Sorry.”

He thought for a moment before he said, “You two kept your word.”

“You sound surprised?” Maddox asked with a charming smile. He slowly made himself comfortable in bed, pulling up blankets and then turning so he could face the omega and the sleeping demon behind him.

August licked his lips. Behind him, Brasch continued to purr loudly as he snuggled against him harder. “I guess I shouldn’t have questioned you.”

“No. You should always listen to your instincts,” Maddox said. “Not everyone can be trusted. And you… you need to stay safe.”

August blushed. “I’ve had more problems with demons who appear kind on the outside, but are rotten inside. I judged you for your species, not you. I really am sorry.”

Maddox purred pleasantly. He kissed the omega on the cheek before he moved closer and laid on his back while extending one arm around Brasch and letting August curl up against him.

“If any of those demons dare to hurt you, you come to me, and I’ll take care of them,” he promised.

August yawned sleepily. “Your skin… It didn’t burn me.”

Maddox smiled. “Isn’t that curious?”

August wanted to ask what exactly that meant, but he was simply too tired, and now much too comfortable to fight off sleep. Why lay here and worry about things that didn’t matter? He was in bed with two contended alpha demons, and he was sore and drained but hadn’t felt this good in a very, very long time. If ever? He didn’t know. He didn’t want to think. He curled up against the Inferno demon and let himself be lulled to sleep by the sound and feel of two purring demons.
