"Surprise!"
I'm sure after having 73 birthdays that it is quite hard to be surprised on your special day. I know that it's been much harder since Mum has been gone. She truly was the only one who could surprise you. She surprised us all when she passed.
"Make a wish!"
I hope Iris and I made your cake alright. We tried very hard to find the right chocolate. I wish Mum wrote down her recipes. I think that is when I miss her the most. When I'm in the kitchen or when I have a random craving for natilla or milhojas. Oh Godric, did Iris tell you about the last time we tried to make milhojas? We burnt the pastry. At least the custard was edible.
"Happy birthday!"
Happy birthday, Dad. I know the past few years without Mum have been hard. I know it is quite selfish of me to say and to want, but I truly wish you many more birthdays.
